Maybe I am being sensitive but I notice in these photo shoots (Emily in Paris) that they often place the POC on the outside of the group and the white people in the middle. Is this so they can crop out everybody who is not white for certain audiences? I see it happening a lot and sometimes it happens even when the POC is central to the plot
That would be really gross, but I’ll bet you’re correct.
It looks to me like they put the ladies in front and then the guys around them, but that is a generous interpretation.
I actually think it is interesting that they put her main / secondary love interest, a white man, on the far back left. He is the fourth most important character on the show, and that is downplaying his role to be honest. One could argue he is the second most important character on the show. There are two black men and an Asian woman in the first row. The three main stars (or third and fourth biggest stars depending on how you value Gabrielle), all women, are front and center, as it should be, and one is Asian.
I am not saying this doesn’t happen in other shows, but for this show specifically, the fact that Gabrielle isn’t in the front row is a concerted effort to me to try to address the problem that you state. And the fact that her other major love interest is black is great too. From what I have read about racism in France, I take this to be a really diverse cast that isn’t necessarily representative of a workplace environment typically seen in Paris. Granted, it’s the fashion industry, so maybe less impacted than other fields.
I do remember that this show was called out in the first season about the lack of diversity in the cast and to her credit Lily acknowledged it and as a producer, she did something about it. So I am not casting any hate her way. Just noticed a pattern. Maybe the Vanity Fair Hollywood covers have me second guessing everything
Nathalie Emmanuel is so pretty. I would vote for her to be cast as duchess Meghan in a movie. And that movie will happen

What’s funny about that is there’s a scene in Suits where Rachel and Donna debate whether Rachel is hotter than Nathalie Emmanuel. Rachel insists that Nathalie isn’t hotter than her, but then Donna reminds her about Nathalie’s accent, and Rachel admits that Nathalie is hotter. But I’ve wondered for years if she might someday play Meghan in a movie.
