The sudden reemergence of Alex Rodriguez finally got me looking back at our Bennifer archives from 2021. There was so much happening, and I made a helpful timeline when we learned that Ben Affleck got back in touch with Jennifer Lopez in February of that year. Basically, Jennifer and A-Rod were absolutely still together and still engaged when Ben began sending her love letters and pursuing her in February 2021. Soon after, Jennifer began winding things down with A-Rod but they didn’t announce their split until April 2021. Just weeks later, Jennifer and Ben were seen together and the proverbial cat was out of the bag. A-Rod was not happy about any of it, not the breakup and not Jennifer immediately starting up with Ben. A-Rod was a sad sack about it and he even followed Jennifer and Ben around that summer. Then he found a new girlfriend and he seemingly moved on. Or did he?
Alex Rodriguez shared a cryptic social media update amid news of Jennifer Lopez filing for divorce from Ben Affleck. On Tuesday, Aug 20, the same day that his former fiancée, 55, filed for divorce from her husband, 52, of two years, Rodriguez, 49, shared a quote on his Instagram Stories that read: “You either go one way or the other, you might as well be the one deciding the direction.”
The quote credited to him was written in blue font in front of a tan backdrop. It was initially shared on the platform by The Con.cept, a female-led creative house based in New York City.
A source tells PEOPLE that Rodriguez’s Instagram post “has nothing to do” with Lopez. The former New York Yankees player began his romance with the singer in February 2017. Shortly after, they made their red carpet debut at the 2017 Met Gala and got engaged in the Bahamas in March 2019.
The retired MLB star is now in a relationship with Canadian fitness instructor Jaclyn Cordeiro, with whom he was first romantically linked in October 2022.
I mean… I think A-Rod sucks, but I also think he’s sort of entitled to say something petty. His loser behavior in 2021 was embarrassing but, hey, Ben really did steal his fiancee. Let A-Rod be petty! The only thing is that he should just own it and really say something mean. “You either go one way or the other, you might as well be the one deciding the direction” – meaning what? He’s now trying to say that he was the one to “decide” to break things off with Jennifer? LOL. Or is he giving her advice because he wants another shot?
Also: looking back at the old photos and I’m reminded again that J.Lo really hated Alex in the last year of their relationship. She was really over it.

ARod acted like garbage and it would have been better if JLo had just dumped him straight up instead of sticking around until she could be “stolen” by Ben, but maybe she knew Ben was more interested if she were unavailable and hard to get so she was just white knuckling it through those last few months until she felt like Ben had tried hard enough to “win” her.
Well, she made single “In The Morning” and its accompanying music video back in September/October 2020. That song is like 99% for Ben.

OMG! AROD didn’t need JLO’s fame, he is and always will be famous bc of his own achievements not only as an athlete but also because of his business ventures.
AROD is a billionaire, focused on his family, businesses and constantly posts lessons he has learnt from his own failures and successes and inspiring tidbits from others; lessons that may be helpful to others.
This whole idea that something he posted could not be coincidental but rather related to the messy life of JLO is silly. I have nothing against Jennifer and wish her peace but frankly, the world does not revolve around her.
Outside of Arod being Arod, he was more JLo speed. He had no problem being her gym buddy, being on a more “clean” diet, being her plus one, her work ethic, and showing PDA and the media /social media attention.
Unfortunately JLo speed is also cheating tools and he lived up to that too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a celebrity get publicly cheated as much as her and it’s always in the most humiliating way. She really needs to reevaluate the type of men she goes after.
So…the second coming of Bennifer started with Ben again pursuing Jennifer when she was engaged to another man. Pattern behavior that shockingly ended as badly as the first time when Ben pursued a married Jennifer.

A-Rod was always using Jennifer, she gave him access to A list Hollywood and all that money looking for investors for his shady businesses. And she even went in with some investments for him. On top of the alleged cheating by him. I think she knew she got played from the start bolted and never looked back. Even if Ben didn’t swoop in at that time. She is never going back to Alex. blech.

I just think Jen needs to take time for herself ALONE. Get some therapy. Travel, spend time with her children and just learn for all of this mess.

I watched an old interview of her from when she was with Diddy. She was gushing about him being a bad boy and the reporter asked her why she liked it. She said because with a bad boy you feel protected.
First, girl, no ! It’s like expecting a scammer to not scammed you, because you are so special, you know ? A relationship with a bad boy will probably put you in some kind of difficult situation.
And then seeing her with Rod, I realised how tall he is too. So she really fall for tall, strong, powerful men thinking she will be taking care off and she also want the ultimate unconditional love. She’s looking for parental love, this is how a four year old girl sees her dad.

Did A-Rod cheat on J-Lo? Don’t know. Don’t care. The only thing I really knew about A-Rod before J-Lo dumped him came from HBS Case Study. So, not much about him personally. I thought Alex and JLo were better suited. He pretty much seemed up for anything, and he seemed enamored of her. He was accused all over the place of cheating, but I never read actual evidence. Definitely not defending ARod, just know he felt her loss. And he has a squeeky voice.
