Many Kansas City Chiefs fans knew the Mahomes family before last year. Patrick Mahomes is known as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and he’s married to Brittany Mahomes, a former soccer player and currently a prominent football WAG and an entrepreneur. Brittany and Patrick have two children and she’s expecting their third. As I said, people sort of knew Brittany already, but her fame went next-level when Patrick’s teammate began dating Taylor Swift. Brittany and Taylor quickly befriended each other and they hung out without their significant others. Brittany has even flown to New York specifically to spend time with Taylor and hang out with Taylor’s clique. Brittany is now part of that clique, without a doubt, hitting up hotspots and clubs with Cara Delevingne and Selena Gomez. Well, funny story: Brittany is a MAGA Republican.
Brittany Mahomes shared a message for any haters this week following social media backlash for reportedly liking a post from former President Donald Trump. The Kansas City Current co-owner, 28, uploaded a statement on her Instagram Stories on Friday, Aug. 23, in which she called out haters with “deep rooted issues.” She did not specify what she was referring to in the upload, which she shared amid social media backlash over her reportedly liking an Aug. 13 Instagram post shared by Trump.
Mahomes’ like does not appear on the post as of Saturday, Aug. 24 and she does not follow Trump on Instagram, nor has she openly endorsed a candidate for president.
“To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood,” the message on Mahomes’ Instagram read. “There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
She also capped off the text-only Instagram Stories post by writing above it, “I mean honestly.”
The Aug. 13 Instagram post that Mahomes — who is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — reportedly liked is a square graphic detailing the “2024 GOP platform,” which includes a list of 20 of Trump’s apparent talking points ahead of the election in November.
Among the list are phrases including “seal the border and stop the migrant invasion,” “keep men out of women’s sports,” “secure our elections,” and “deport pro-Hamas radicals and make our college campuses safe and patriotic.”
This is written in a convoluted, “who even knows if this is true” way, when really, there are receipts backing up the fact that Brittany absolutely liked this dumbass MAGA post and then she threw a little tantrum when people noticed. I’m including those receipts below. As many have already pointed out, Brittany has always given off MAGA vibes anyway, so it’s not really a shock. The shock is that she’s openly liking the most bigoted MAGA IGs in the same week that Donald Trump posted AI images of Taylor Swift “endorsing” him. I’ve gone easy on Taylor with the political stuff because I feel certain that she’s going to endorse the Democratic ticket at some point and probably do some GOTV stuff too. I’m not going to say this “birds of a feather.” But I do think Taylor should tell Brittany: hey, this guy sucks, his platform sucks and please don’t support him.

Trump is an insurrectionist. A racist. A rapist. A convicted felon. He attacked this country on Jan. 6th and people died including police officers – where the hell were the Blue Lives Matter people then? Their silence is deafening and their hypocrisy knows no bounds. This man tried to murder his VP! It was the first and only time the peaceful transition of power was thrown into turmoil. It is the ONLY time the fucking Confederate flag flew inside the Capitol. Trump is a danger, a traitor, and he sold national secrets. He is a for profit go to the highest bidder upside down Bible holding Anti-Christ who sows chaos and sells autographed Bibles for a grift along with steak knives and classified documents. He is not some politician on the other side of the aisle who argues about taxes and the size of government. People need to WAKE UP. This needs to be called by its right name. Cowardice is NEVER an effective strategy and yes it is cowardice to not even have the courage to call out your classmates and friends. This has gone on for over 400 years the time to play nice keep the peace and be polite is OVER. I have outright asked people “how can you say you love me and vote for a person who would delight in destroying me? That is not love.” And then I peace out never to be heard from again. Dukerauguswife, There are MAGAs in my neighborhood. I avoid them and they avoid me. There is one person who I continue to have in my life who I’m sure voted for Trump in 2016. Did she vote for him in 2020? I don’t know, because I’ve never asked. What I know about her is that she is a kind person who will help you in a heartbeat. I’ve always considered her one of the people who just wanted someone to help the families like hers. Obviously, that’s not what she got. Much of what the MAGA espouse isn’t something she embraces. These are the MAGA people who I think are all going to come back to the Republican right and not stay as far right, wingnut, MAGA. Alienating the people like her is not the way to unite again.
I can’t imagine having such a shallow and superficial relationship with my friends.
We all knew about BM!!!! I hope I’m wrong, but even with the recent events at her concerts I don’t think Taylor is or was ever going to endorse anyone. She has always been known to be all about her business and her coins first (this is what makes her a powerhouse- she is savvy with the music and the business side) . A political endorsement that could alienate a chunk of her fan base in this climate? Absolutely not. If it courts controversy or could result in blowback for her, she largely avoids it.
She already endorsed Biden/Harris. I’m thinking she’ll wait til Oct (and maybe Beyonce will take Sept) to keep this wave going through Nov 4. I’m now thinking Beyonce and the Harris campaigned coordinated to have B not say she wasn’t coming until 5 min before Harris went on, makes sense to me! Kept those eyeballs glued.

Taylor endorsed in 2020, everyone in the free world knows she is liberal so much so that Fox News ran months of reporting that she was a CIA plot to get Biden re-elected.
She has gotten an increase in death threats because of her very vocal support of Biden and other democrats and liberal policies.
And currently she has done AS MUCH AS BEYONCE IN THE 2024 ELECTION BY GIVING KAMALA AND THE DEMOCRATS FULL ACCESS TO HER CATALOG.
You don’t like Taylor which is fine, but you don’t get to ignore facts and reality to create a narrative that fits with your opinion.
If you saw Taylor’s documentary on Netflix, there is a great section of it where she is confronted by both her parents and managers as they try to convince her not to alienate or invite controversy among her fans by making a political statement. I think this was during the time that 2 black men in the Tennessee senate were ousted for their progressive opinions (sorry not remembering details). They (parents) were sure it would ruin her career. She decides that be-what-may, she MUST call out the “Tennessee (false) Christians” who were ruining her state and urged her fans to vote them out. I’m too old to be much of a fan (I prefer rock over pop!), but I’ve loved her since then.
Without knowing anything about her, my MIL commented recently that BM used to be pretty but now looks like “a Trump wife.” So that tracks.
I think it will be 7-11 years and Brittany will find herself getting the Trump wife treatment from Patrick.

TS endorsed Biden/Harris in 2020. The country was more volatile at that time. I suspect she’ll endorse Harris/Walz in October when she publicized her endorsement in 2020.

There is a very harsh vibe about Taylor Swift today in the comments. The MAGA backlash is dangerous and real. The comments about Taylor only caring about her cash are not considering the terrorist threat that Taylor is currently under. Right now.
For the love, put yourself in her shoes. She doesn’t just have herself to consider but her Eras team and her fans. Adding crazed MAGA fans to her security threat might be too much. Before judging, would put yourself, innocent co-workers and fans at a higher risk?
I experienced a small sample of MAGA backlash, it scared the crap out of me. I wrote about Trump Jr’s EX WIFE for a popular national media outlet. It wasn’t even political or negative. It immediately sparked so many death threats that I no longer write under my real name. I’ve been writing for over 20 years, never experienced anything even close.

I think people are worried about the elections because this country won’t survive if Harris/Walz aren’t elected. Honestly, the best thing people can do is stay positive–it drives the MAGAs crazy. It helps your mental health, too.

There are many parts of Taylor Swift that I like, tons of her actions that I respect and I’m genuinely grateful for her (and her fans) existence in culture. There are also parts I don’t love, one being the insistence to be seen as a Mary-Sue and the fragile, revenge-y, Karen-esque reactions that take place when they are seen as fallable that she and many in her circle (Britney M, Blake/Ryan, Lena, Lorde, Jamie King, Cara, Selena, etc) seem to exude. And that vibe has a pungent MAGA odor 🙂
That said, I like most of the people I listed. I hope TS endorses Harris but don’t believe she owes us that. And I hope all those Mary-Sue’s learn to embrace their beautiful imperfectness and don’t become spiteful MAGAs like all the Mary-Sue’s my mom and I know.

Patrick grew up in Whitehouse TX. Whitehouse is 7.5% black and being biracial I would guess he was socialized as white. It the wasn’t until he left Whitehouse that he was introduced to black culture I would think.

I would doubt it about Travis based on both his family, and his friend circle outside football which is pretty diverse, and his charity work pre-Taylor.
As to Blake and Ryan, Blake has been dumb for eons and did publicly apologize post wedding but Ryan in what he has supported, particularly around his support of Indigenous issues in Canada, doesn’t seem MAGA. He also was deeply and personally supportive of vaccines including, personally reaching out to support the vaccine campaigns of local Canadian city health departments. (I have a friend who worked for once such public health unit and Ryan and his team reached out and made a public health video). However, he does read to me as married to someone ignorant and is unbothered by it.
He did the Pfizer commercial, kneeled for the anthem, and said he would support openly queer players on his team.

He was in COVID vaccine ads and was one of the first white NFL players to kneel. He grew up in a solidly blue area in Cleveland Heights, with a breadwinner mom, and a dad who at certain points IIRC was a Union rep, before becoming the boys’ primary caregiver.
While I don’t think he’s probably overtly political, none of that screams MAGA to me.
And – unlike most celebs, he’s an employee, who like many of us plebs has colleagues whose politics we don’t agree with.
He also said on a talk show that in his early years he worked as a server for a few years and he felt that most everyone should experience what it takes to successfully work at that level (think patience and humility).
Taylor has remained totally silent about Trump posting something saying that she endorses him. That silence speaks volumes. I honestly think she’s one of the MAGATS too. She said in her documentary just a few years ago that she was going to be an activist from then on. It was bullshit. She has done absolutely NOTHING. She pretended to be a gay ally for one album promotion and then not a word as gay peoples’ rights have been under attack. People who think she’s going to endorse Harris are going to be disappointed. It’s not going to happen. She’s a self-absorbed individual who only cares about things that affect herself, and that’s it.

As someone biracial and of Caribbean descent, Patrick, I don’t think he knows who he is because he has not been exposed to his other side, nor does he think of himself as black or biracial. Patrick Mahomes shares his father’s name, even though he doesn’t go by Junior and does not associate himself with that side of his family.
One question that I have is, how is she successful? Is she equating his success to her? If so, this is why she’s there, and he’s not bright enough to see it.
I never liked his wife and was not shocked that she liked that post. Her past behavior has come under fire, and I am sure it will again.
