Prince Harry will get tight NYPD security next month when he’s in town

This year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a new communications strategy, where they’re much more responsive in pushing back on rumors and lies originating from the British media. They’re also including more media outlets in their Archewell announcements, which makes various tabloids feel important, that they got “confirmation from Archewell” on certain events. So it is with Prince Harry’s planned trip to New York next month. It sounds like Harry will be in New York throughout the week of September 23rd, which is UN Climate Week and it’s also when a lot of world leaders descend on New York for meetings and appearances for the high-level General Debate at the United Nations. One of the great things about Archewell updating everybody on Harry’s plans is that the worst tabloids have to acknowledge that Harry is a busy man with a lot on his plate, and no, he’s not sitting around Montecito with nothing to do. He’ll be in NYC on behalf of his work with Archewell, African Parks, The HALO Trust, Travalyst and The Diana Award. And not only that, the NYPD will give him extra security:

Prince Harry is returning to the Big Apple. The Duke of Sussex’s visit to New York City next month will coincide with UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week, The Post can confirm. However, the trip will be a solo venture for the royal as his wife Meghan Markle, 43, will stay put in Montecito, Calif., with their two children.

Harry, 39, will be in the Big Apple to “advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives,” his rep said, adding that the father of two will be busy with engagements with African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst. He will also be “furthering the work of The Archewell Foundation, the nonprofit organization he co-founded with his wife Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex,” his rep told The Post in a statement.

While details about Harry’s upcoming trip remain scarce, the duke is set to receive additional security following his and Markle’s so-called “near catastrophic” paparazzi car chase through Manhattan in May 2023. Harry and Markle found themselves at the center of a high-speed pursuit after leaving the Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown with Markle’s mother following an event. The trio were tailed by paparazzi who were unable to get any shots of the famous couple as they left the venue.

Soon after, a representative for the pair claimed they “were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.” However, law enforcement sources described a much less dramatic ordeal, saying the chase only lasted about one hour as the family switched to a yellow cab to try to get the paps off their trail.

The Sussexes ultimately didn’t file any charges over the ordeal, but the NYPD announced last year that the pair receive heightened security during their trips to the Big Apple. In a letter addressed to London’s Metropolitan Police, the NYPD intelligence chief wrote that the police force will be “enhancing the security resources afforded to the Duke and Duchess on future visits to the city.”

[From The NY Post]

Harry and Meghan visited New York last October, and they had presidential-level security from the NYPD. They moved around in an NYPD convoy and there were absolutely no unscheduled stops or street photos. The British media was really pissed off about it too, which is telling. It’s also telling that few British outlets picked up the NYPD’s statement earlier this year that the May ‘23 paparazzi chase was both “reckless” and “persistently dangerous,” and that the Sussexes were not lying about how unsafe they felt during the chase. The NYPD’s Chief of Intelligence informed the Metropolitan Police in England that they conducted an investigation into the May ‘23 incident and decided to give the Sussexes advanced security whenever they visit the city. Meanwhile, Harry’s birth country is like “he doesn’t deserve security because he’s not important enough!” Anyway, as I said before, I bet Harry will be able to move around quickly and efficiently when he travels solo and I expect the NYPD will be out in force to aid him.

  1. I’m glad he will be protected. I’m sure this will make the gutter rats angry that they won’t get another shot at unaliving him like his mother was unalived.

The UK press and their agents have tried to unalive this man, his wife and his child.
Early in M’s pregnancy, she was sent on an unprecedented 76 event tour of Oceania, no doubt in the hope that she would miscarry. Then there was the incident in Fiji when M had to be rushed from the market for an unexplained security breach. On the South Africa tour, the fire/smoke in Archie’s room from a malfunctioning heater was terrifying for H&M. This malfunction was never fully explained, but H&M left the UK soon after. The NYC car chase was also very suspicious. A person would be forgiven for seeing all these incidents as more than coincidences and more like attempted hits. In every case, the UK press was there to downplay the seriousness of the incidents. Is the RR what they profess to be or are there some sinister agents embedded in their ranks with a hidden agenda. I know. I sound like a conspiracy theorist, but these near catastrophes have never occurred with this much frequency to any other royal.

      • Gtwiecz says:

The U.K. press, and the widely popular “The View” on ABC made fun of the car chase, basically calling Harry and Meghan liars, with no pushback from the other hosts. Whoopi seems to have a beef with Meghan (without ever meeting her) or Charles was nice to her once and she feels she needs to take sides. Last year, when the report was concluded proving them right, she never apologized. It’s clear the show and ABC have a deal with the RF. Ana Navarro also was critical of them. Two minority women dunking on Meghan.

      • Magdalena says:

They had also planned for her to visit areas affected by the Zika virus, knowing that it could be particularly harmful to pregnant women (the foetus). They never wanted that sweet boy to be born. H ended up visiting those areas on his own. They would never have planned a trip to such areas for a pregnant Kate Middleton.

      • Maxine Branch says:

@Kathleen Seeing these incidents put together as you have done sounds very suspicious to me as well. That Oceania 76 event tour was brutal. A newly wed and pregnant, the intent was clear, just from that.

      • willow says:

There is a slow drip drip in this investigation, which is never good. One or
two things have happened, 1 some information about this case came up in investigating in a unrelated case. 2 someone
directly involved in this investigation, was caught up in another crime and there offering up info on H/M May ‘23 paparazzi chase. More to come.

  2. Eurydice says:

Oh, I see – it wasn’t a “near-catastrophic” car chase because it only lasted an hour. How long would it have to last to be classified near-catastrophic?

    • Dee(2) says:

Yeah the chase from the Ritz-Carlton lasted about 10 minutes right? It’s ghoulish how angry they are that others acknowledge that they are important enough to justify security. Only thing that changes about the risks to them in Britain, that are present in Canada, the U.S., Nigeria, and Colombia is who is in charge of authorizing security.

    • Boxy Lady says:

An hour-long car chase anywhere in NYC is way too long.

  3. Maxine Branch says:

Happy Harry will receive the security he is entitled to because of his risk level. Also, the UK gutter press and police there should be ashamed. You would think so but they are not because of the lack of security he receives in his country of birth. Wishing him a successful trip networking and championing the causes he feels passionate about. A hard working young man.

    • prince dumbo says:

harry is a idiot a stupid stupid idiot the governor the police commissioner and the mayor needs to be Fired Fired Fried he is a Millionaire and they are using US taxpayers money on this IDIOT

  4. wolfmamma says:

Glad to hear that they are posting about the extra security. That gives the Brit paps/ and others with evil
Intent the heads up that he will be protected.
Ugh The BRF is really something~ yes?

  5. Hypocrisy says:

They are still bitter about the ramped up security measures and it shows..

  6. Jais says:

Funny how they never refer to the updated nypd statement that the chase was indeed relentlessly dangerous. But the proof is also in how the nypd treats them now. They wouldn’t be getting the high-level security if the incident had not been very real and dangerous. The downplaying of that incident by the BM and women from the View was grotesque. Treating Harry and Meghan and Doria like they were crying wolf and exaggerating. They were not. Hope those people are haunted by the wrath of Diana.

    • Gtwiecz says:

And the NYC mayor. Does anyone have a clue what’s Whoopi’s beef with Meghan? She had free rein that day and their producer said nothing.

  7. Amy Bee says:

It’s clear that despite what was said in the press and by the Mayor of NY, the NYPD took the incident very seriously and increased their security for their next visit. It’s obvious that same will happen when Harry goes to NY next month.

  8. Becks1 says:

Good. I’m glad that the cities and countries that want him to visit take his security seriously.

  9. QuiteContrary says:

Harry continues to show the left-behinds how royaling should be done. And other countries continue to show the Brits how Harry needs to be protected.

  10. Athena says:

Wonder if arrest warrants were issued for those involved in the car chase which should keep them for showing up in NY this year or risk arrest.

  11. tamsin says:

I notice though, that the New York Post continues to be snarky, although they are at least reporting facts.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

That’s because NY Post is owned by Murdoch, aka the man who has the rest of the BRF by the short and curlies.

  12. VilleRose says:

It’s pretty clear all cities/countries who host the Sussexes for a visit have taken a lesson from the NYC paparazzi chase in 2023 and have given them very high levels of security whenever they do an official visit. It’s probably a non negotiable at this point when they decide to take up a country’s offer to host them.

I’m also wondering if that’s part of why William didn’t want to show up in NYC too? Not just the competing coverage but his high level security would be compared to Harry’s and it would probably be pointed out the heightened security Harry gets whenever he visits NYC. And then it would also be pointed out how Harry is not afforded that level of security anymore in the UK and talk about Harry’s fight to get his security status reinstated since it was revoked by RAVEC. Overall, it would just make William look bad.

  13. sunnyside up says:

All that desperation from the BM to write stories about Harry, and yet, they seem to be ignoring this story. I wonder why.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

They don’t want to pull attention to their complicity in the terrorist attacks on H&M and their family… or have people start looking at their complicity in Diana’s death.

    • Pebbles says:

The British media will only go as far as saying Harry will be making a trip to NY in September but they do not explain that he will be there for 5 of his charities/businesses because they cannot make him look important or have a purpose. They have a narrative of the bum lonely prince sitting in Cali doing nothing. Their audiences would know them for liars if they told the truth.

  14. Libra says:

One hour with people chasing me with intent to do me harm and possibly kill me to photograph my dying moment is catastrophic. What e!se would you call it? It’s terrorism.
