Here are some photos from the Venice Film Festival’s opening night. There was a big premiere for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (I’m covering the cast photos separately), but lots of other people came out. Namely, Cate Blanchett. Cate loves Venice and she’s also a brand ambassador for Armani. She’s more closely associated with Armani Beauty and fragrance, but she also just loves Armani clothes and they often make custom pieces for her. That’s what happened here – this is a custom Armani Prive gown which makes her look so curvy and lovely. I normally kind of hate when pale women wear such pale colors on a red carpet, but the silver sheen really works here. Cate also paired the gown with a diamond-and-pearl necklace from Louis Vuitton, and Cate pulled the necklace across her shoulders for a unique look (I honestly thought it was part of the design of the dress for a moment). Cate is also in Venice to promote her new AppleTV+ limited series, Disclaimer (but she also has like five other things coming out too).
Taylor Russell is on the Venice jury this year, which means she’s going to get some of the best clothes from all of the big fashion houses. Chanel gave her this customized replica of an iconic Spring 1993 look.
It’s good to see Zhang Ziyi out and about. She wore Armani Privé, just like Cate.
Isabelle Huppert wore Balenciaga. This is so funny to me – I get that she wanted to be covered up, but Balenciaga literally gave her a taffeta tent.

Cate looks great, but the jewelry (shoulder necklace) is unnecessary. Takes away from the overall look. Not a fan of either Taylor or Isabelle’s gowns. Too much fabric. Taylor is surrounded by an oversized cotton ball? and Isabelle’s dress looks too big on her, not a fit. Ugh. Their stylists could have done better. Zhang Ziyi looks good. She also looks like she never ages.
I don’t know, I kinda like the shoulder necklace. Gives the illusion that maybe there is material there and part of the dress. hard to explain. But she looks like a goddess.

I absolutely love the necklace (or whatever we want to call it). It elevates the dress I think. And I am a minimalist. I zoomed in to see if it was attached somehow, haha. I think the dress would look basic without it.
I do not like Taylor Russel’s dress whatsoever.
I love the necklace too. I actually think if she was wearing it more as a regular necklace, draped around her neck/collarbone, it would take away from the dress. Here it looks like its part of the dress.
Cate is one of my eternal red carpet favorites. Even when I don’t like what she’s wearing, I love to see what she’s wearing, you know? But this I just love.

I don’t know… it’s 90 degrees these days in Venice. The whole Southern Europe is burning hot. These looks seem all wintery to me. They must be all sweating like crazy.
I’m getting bored of the corset/ underwear look. I think Zhang Ziyi looks chic.
