Pax Jolie crashed his Tesla in LA two months before his e-bike crash

In July, Angelina Jolie’s son Pax was involved in a rush-hour e-bike accident. It was apparently Pax’s fault – he crashed his e-bike into a car which was stopped at a red light (or something like that). Pax was injured in the crash and it was bad because he wasn’t even wearing a helmet. He was in the hospital for a few days and sources said that he suffered “complex trauma.” Pax’s recuperation is reportedly going well, and he was out and about with his mom several days ago in LA. Now TMZ reports that a month before his bike crash, Pax totaled his Tesla??

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s son, Pax Jolie-Pitt was involved in a car accident about two months before he was badly injured in an e-bike crash, TMZ has learned. The 20-year-old wrecked his Tesla before midnight on May 19 when he crashed into a parked box truck outside RED Studios Hollywood, according to the company’s incident report.

Thankfully, Pax was not hurt in that collision … but pictures and video from the scene show the Tesla was likely totaled.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they received a call for the crash, and when they arrived, officers determined Pax was not under the influence … adding no report was taken. The cause of the crash is unclear.

Info was exchanged between Pax and the studio … before he was picked up from the scene by an unrecognizable driver.

As we previously reported, Pax was riding around L.A. in late July when he rammed his electric bike into the back of a car stopped at an intersection on Los Feliz Blvd. around 5 PM … he was then rushed to the hospital with a head injury.

Here’s the thing… Teslas are awful. It could be that Pax is a terrible driver and that he needs to not drive or bike anywhere. But it could also be that his Tesla just sucked and the crash wasn’t his fault. I’ve heard plenty of anecdotal evidence that Teslas are completely unsafe, and that the company has spent years trying to cover up just how unsafe they are. My question is… why the hell was Pax driving a Tesla? Get that young man a Honda or an Audi or a Subaru.

He’s a rich kid. It’s more surprising that he chose a Tesla over a Ferrari than that he wanted the cool brand of EV.

  2. manda says:

I was involved in an accident with a tesla, and was told by my insurance provider that teslas are almost always just totaled out even when the damage is relatively minimal. Can’t remember exactly why, something about how the body is made. So it might have been a minor accident

    • Bumblebee says:

The insurance rates on a car that can only be totaled must be outrageous.

    • CLOVE says:

I am glad he’s doing better, and please don’t let him drive or ride a bike for a long time. I wouldn’t get a Tesla because, as @manda said, they total them out, the battery replacement is expensive, and, most importantly, it’s an Elon Musk creation.

    • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

Probably because all the value is in the battery pack and if you do any damage to that, right away it’s too much to be replaced. Anything other the battery has no value.

Teslas can be bad, but I think young adults are just not so prudent riding cars and other things like bikes etc

    • Sass says:

Yep, our neighbors got rear ended in theirs and it was only a pinged bumper. It was totaled out and within a month they had a new Tesla, same model, different color.

    • DK says:

I didn’t know that about Teslas, but somehow it’s not at all surprising.

It also eliminates all the arguments about getting a Tesla bc it’s good for the environment, despite Space Karen being a complete d-bag: having to replace an entire car for even minor accidents is massively wasteful and bad for the environment.

I hope it’s just that Pax has been a distracted driver (although of course that’s bad and dangerous enough!). Sometimes more serious yet undiscovered health incidents (for instance, poorly managed or undetected Type I diabetes; seizures, etc.) can lead to accidents when people have incidents while driving.

Whatever is going on with him, whether it’s medical or routine young adult invincibility, etc., I hope he gets sorted out safely and soon.

    • Becks1 says:

It’s the battery I think. My husband is a personal injury attorney so deals with a lot of car accidents and says Teslas are almost always totaled because of how expensive the battery is.

  3. Amy Bee says:

He probably needs to be driven everywhere.

  4. Eleonor says:

I think he needs to attend to driving classes before trying to drive again.

  5. FancyPants says:

One of the first things I’d do if I won a stupid amount of money in the lottery is hire a driver and never drive again, so I don’t know why Angelina doesn’t just do that for him, or at least get him a real driving lesson. And make him wear a helmet on his bicycle!

    • BeanieBean says:

Yes! And it sure as heck wouldn’t be a Tesla I’d be driven around in! I saw one of those stupid ‘trucks’ IRL the other day. What a ridiculous vehicle!

  6. Glamarazzi says:

Time to sign up for Waymo.

  7. VilleRose says:

Given he’s crashed twice in 2 months in completely different vehicles, this is definitely a Pax problem. Even if Teslas are prone to being totaled, that’s twice he has crashed into two stationary vehicles in a very short amount of time. I’m hoping he’s learned a (very painful unfortunately) lesson that he is not invincible, he could easily have wound up dead given he wasn’t wearing a helmet with the e-bike. And probably shouldn’t drive for a very long time.

I do wonder who leaked this Tesla accident though? Is it Brad? At least Pax is an adult now and he can’t use this as a way to fight custody with Angelina.

    • Kirsten says:

Especially since both times he’s crashed into stopped/parked cars. He’s not paying attention when he’s on the road and definitely needs some more lessons before he hurts himself again or hurts someone else.

      • Fabiola says:

He’s rich, young and just doesn’t care. He can keep crashing his cars and bikes and he will just keep getting new ones.

    • BeanieBean says:

Eh, he’s young, he’s male, there’s a reason insurance for the under-25 man/boy is so sky high.

  8. LeonsMomma says:

Sounds like Pax is you typical reckless young man when it comes to cars, bikes — and probably he has a motorcycle.

Per Tesla: the “good for the environment” crowd seems to forget how toxic waste the battery is. There are companies that dispose of them, but you also have to factor in the mining to get the lithium that is in the battery. Pollution all around.

  9. Amberil says:

It’s definitely been leaked by Brad. The only child who called him out publicly is all of a sudden having Bad press about his reckless behavior with exclusives about it given to pagesix and tmz. It’s so transparent. Doing this to his child is disgusting especially while he’s still in recovery

    • HeatherC says:

It’s definitely a swipe against Angelina too…”if she’s such a great protective mom why doesn’t she make him wear a helmet?” Uh because he’s 20 years old and even if she tried she has no control after he’s out of her sight?

    • Aerie says:

You have no proof that this was leaked by Brad. And it doesnt matter because you’re blaming the messenger when the issue should be on Pax and his irresponsible driving record.

    • BQM says:

      I doubt Brad even knew.

  10. Glossop says:

To those of you saying that this is typical ‘young man’ behavior, if every young person had two accidents in two months, it would be a statistical nightmare.

This is not typical. I have no idea what’s going on, obviously, but he’s a danger to others and shouldn’t be driving anything until whatever is going on is resolved.

  11. 80sMercedes says:

When the original story came up, I mentioned that there were a bunch of people on TikTok who live in the area and knew about the guy on the bike who drove like an idiot and didn’t wear a helmet but never realized the guy was Pax Jolie. This isn’t isolated. Dude is a menace.

  12. Kittenmom says:

I mean – there is a reason why car insurance rates for young men in this age range are so astronomical.

    • BeanieBean says:

Ha! Just said something similar above! I really need to read comments through to the end before commenting myself….

  13. Sarah B says:

I saw this on TikTok (but by a reputable creator) and she said she wasn’t surprised. She said that Pax was notorious for zipping around recklessly on his ebike around Glendale/Los Feliz and it was only a matter of time before this happened. Take this with a grain of salt, considering the source. But now reading about the Tesla crash, it makes more sense.
