Brie Larson wore Chanel to the 2024 Emmys: surprisingly great?

I adore Brie Larson and I think she makes some really interesting style choices, but it’s so weird. It’s like, no one really acknowledges that she is, in fact, a fashion girl. That she pays attention to fashion and she works with major designers. I mean, she’s rarely at fashion weeks and I don’t think she’s ever had a brand ambassadorship, but still. She’s beautiful and she loves fashion, pay attention! Brie wore this lovely Chanel, and she said on the red carpet that she consciously chose a more throwback, 1950s-style silhouette.

Lily Gladstone’s Rodarte was sort of controversial on social media. While everyone loves Lily, people questioned why she wore a big brass breastplate? I’m sure there’s a reason beyond “vibes” but yeah, it’s not great.

I believe this was Elizabeth Debicki’s final awards show as a nominee for playing Princess Diana in The Crown. She picked up her first Emmy – she has now won an Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award and SAG Award for playing Diana. Deserved, I say. She did an excellent job. Debicki chose a very simple, elegant Dior for the Emmys.

They all look great but Gina Torres is just smashing.

I absolutely adore Brie Larson. Just love love love her. Her as captain marvel meant so much to me. I had been having the hardest year and that movie – and specifically how she played it all, just brought so so much to me.

Gina’s dress is amazing! She looks stunning. Such a solid example of someone wearing the dress vs it wearing them.

Gina Torres is a girl crush for me. I enjoyed watching her and her colleagues have a blast at THE wedding.

Same, she is stunning. She is a woman who has PRESENCE. I fell hard for her when she and Jennifer Garner were flirt fighting each other to the death in Alias, and she’s so much hotter now.

Carrie Coon is a breath of fresh air. I guess I’m getting old because I feel as if I have seen most of the other dresses on this red carpet dozens of times and they are just so boring.

I believe Brie is a Chanel Beauty ambassador now. I could be wrong though but I see her on my IG feed using their makeup products quite a bit and she has done some YouTube beauty content for them as well. Either way she looks amazing! They didn’t do her dirty which I appreciate and the length of the dress is so nice on her.

Elizabeth Debicki looked amazing and I loved Carrie Coon’s Thom Browne.

I really liked Brie in The Room. Has anyone watched Lessons In Chemistry? I’m reading it right now.

The book is quite a bit different from the series, but retains the overall story and themes. One of the ladies in my book group complained about the series. But I thought it was totally appropriate for the series to change it up. Some things of course just don’t translate, like what’s going on in the mind of the dog. The author initially wanted to get involved with the script and they talked her out of it, saying she wouldn’t have the time with promoting the book. She’s glad they talked her out of working on the script.

Lily Gladstone is wearing an indigenous copper. It’s a symbol of wealth and harmony usually owned by chiefs in Pacific Northwest cultures. It was created by an artist and worn with pride.

Saying that it’s “vibes” or “not great” is incredibly insulting.

    • Morgan says:

+1 – the artist who created this piece did so with care and reverence, as did Lily in her selection and commissioning of it. Dismissing it as “vibes” is a shallow and unconsidered take.

Gina looks amazing! They all do.
I love Brie’s dress, and Elizabeth’s understated but glamorous look too.

I NEVER would have guessed that was Carrie Coon!
