They’re mad that Duchess Meghan’s staff praised her as named sources in Us Weekly

This week has been full of (manufactured) drama about the Duchess of Sussex. The Hollywood Reporter’s September 12th report on the Sussexes’ business is still so strange to me, even moreso because THR’s editor is doubling down on their reporting and still claiming that the magazine spoke to current and former Archewell employees here in America. That’s what I keep getting stuck on, especially now that Archewell’s current and former employees have gone on the record to Us Weekly to say that Meghan and Harry are great bosses, and that Meghan isn’t running around, throwing tantrums and making grown men sob at their desks.

The only way THR’s reporting makes any sense is if THR’s editors are lying about their sources or their sources are lying to them about when & where they actually worked with Meghan. THR’s report so heavily mimicked the years of smears from the Windsors and the British media, it’s astounding that new American employees would have the exact same classist, racist, dehumanizing insults for Meghan, and that none of them would go on the record as a named source to THR. That was reinforced this week when a “courtier” ran to the Daily Beast and called Meghan a “demon” who had “psycho moments.” That’s part and parcel of the palace’s character assassination, and someone is trying very hard to convince everyone that Archewell’s employees feel the same way.

Currently, outlets like the Sun and the Daily Beast are trying to say that Us Weekly’s cover story is suspect because it’s Sussex-authorized pushback. As in, Meghan and the Archewell team put together a plan of how to combat yet another wave of character assassination – smears which affect Meghan’s professional reputation in California – and executed that plan by authorizing people to speak on the record to Us Weekly. That’s what’s being dismissed by British outlets and British commentators, who want you to believe their unnamed palace sources with an egg-shaped ax to grind.

Meanwhile, Us Weekly continues to repackage their exclusive, pointing out in a new piece that five current and former Archewell staffers have spoken to them on the record, and all of the people they’ve spoken to have sung Meghan’s praises as a boss and as a person. They told Us Weekly that Meghan has “never” yelled and she “gives clear direction and is solution-oriented.” Former Archewell COO Mandana Dayani also told Us Weekly: “Part of the profound injustice of having to speak publicly on this in light of these endless and damaging narratives is that so much of the kindness, mentorship, and support that Prince Harry and Meghan share with others happens quietly behind closed doors.”

I wonder if some of the “sources” are from Spotify who are miffed that she didn’t take their advice and name-check the royals or do a podcast about royal life.

    • Jilly says:

The whole THR article is so odd to me. I can’t figure out why an American publication would go all in on her either. You’re right. Someone has an ax to grind in the US. But why?

      • HuffnPuff says:

Probably someone who is butthurt because they didn’t get an ARO package from Meghan. Pettiness knows no bounds.

      • S says:

Why are they trying so hard to convince everyone that the palace is innocent 🙄🙄So after working her whole life without any work drama she marries a Prince and turn rogue 🙄🙄 THIS IS THE PALACE AND WILLIAM ORCHESTRATED DRAMA 😎

      • MsDoe says:

Jay Penske, the nepo baby who now has a monopoly on all the entertainment trade mags — including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Hollywood Reporter — and the Penske family are linked to Murdoch. They even sponsor an Indy Car together. Thus, they will keep gunning for Meghan (Harry’s tender spot) as Harry’s suit against Murdoch et al progresses.

      • Ginger says:

Someone posted a screenshot of some tweets the author had and he has been nasty towards Meghan in the past. He clearly doesn’t like her so of course he is going to double down on his hateful article. Also, the author has been pictured with Jeffery Epstein so….

      • L Williams says:

Sussex Squad dig up that THR writer used to write for the U.K Sun( royal rota connected) and THR owner has some connections to Murdoch. This is a KP hit job to try and deflect from Prince Harry’s U.N week and that twilight hay jumping garbage that Will and Kate put out last week

      • Anonymous says:

They are friends of Murdoch and Trump. Both right wing racists.

    • sevenblue says:

If there were new sources from America, there would be new stories. “Barking orders” isn’t a story. I don’t believe they have any sources in America, it was all rehashed stories from british tabloids.

      • Jais says:

That’s the oddest part. There was nothing new in these stories. Absolutely no new detail. At best, they said she didn’t take advice but they courtiers said that too? And isn’t it safe to guess that she takes advice from some people and not others. There wasn’t anything there in the details from the unnamed sources except for laughable stuff about high heels and acting like a dictator.

      • Nerd says:

The obvious lie about her stomping around in high heels is that every time we see her outside of a formal and semi formal public setting, she is wearing flats or no shoes at all. Most people didn’t see the huge height difference between her and Harry until they moved to the US and she was more relaxed and comfortable wearing flats, especially at home. We saw the one birthday video where she was wearing heels in her home but other than that she is more relaxed at Montecito where they primarily work and hold meetings with their staff. It sounds like a repeat of lies from the BM.

    • Proud Mary says:

This is one hundred percent from Britain. More so from KP, but BP doesn’t have clean hands here either. They’ve been trying to make fetch happen with this lie for over 6 years. They are racist and they believe that American racists will bite.

    • Nerd says:

That would mean that she isn’t the bully that the THR article claims and she has moved on past the drama of the royals while others haven’t.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

I wonder if the Sun and Murdoch are about to get publicly spanked in a UK court again, and that’s why they’re gunning for Harry’s wife.

THC has writers with connections to The Sun. Murdoch has dirty connections to just about every tabloid on the planet.

  2. Eurydice says:

Well, they’ve been pushing for years to get a reaction out the Sussexes, so now they have a delicious war to monetize for a while.

    • Amy Bee says:

Nah, I don’t think the British press is getting the traction they wanted. Harry’s going to be in the UK on Monday. Tomorrow the British press is going to move on to whether he will see his father.

      • the Robinsons says:

The Penske familyareRightwingers, they’ve given moneytoTrumpand have ties toMurdoch. I am starting to thinkmagafolksandbrexiteersrant about and against the same things even HM.
I thank theuniversetrumpian days are just about over. Can’t wait till the day after the November Election.

    • kirk says:

IIRC that THR hit piece didn’t have an actual byline, just two editors. At the time I thought it was because they had a column they used interns and contract writers for, especially former British royal “expurts” who have little to write about now with the slime down and the fact that Kitty is filming her own Kommercials. Yup, then there’s this https://www.thewrap.com/the-hollywood-reporter-layoffs-sudie-redmind/

  3. Dee(2) says:

They are pissed because they thought they wouldn’t respond like the old days, or that if they did it would be off the record. It’s really difficult to convince people that your anonymous source who just so happens to have all the same complaints as KP staffers are telling the truth, and people who you can look up on LinkedIn are lying. It’s also why they are going so hard in referring to THR as an ” entertainment Bible” and ” neutral American media”. They did the EXACT same thing with Newsweek reporting at first. They are absolutely relying on peoples memories of these legacy media outfits to give legitimacy to their repackaged hate. And they’ll continue to pretend until enough people figure out the BM connections a lot of these magazines have now. Half of them have British EICs and I’ll never trust the neutrality of someone who worked for the Mail, or Mirror, or Express.

  4. girl_ninja says:

I really do love that they are pushing back against all of the smears and lies. I need them to step into their power and hire someone in PR who is an expert at defense and offense. It is long overdue. This week has been a great week for Harry, it pushed against the false narrative that Meghan is his puppet master, and he has no backbone. With her launch of ARO, I need them to have a plan of attack.

    • I agree. They need a dedicated PR person just to deal with the smear articles. I was very happy to see that they are pushing back. We know the un-named sources of the THR article and they would be Peg and Can’t and their yes men at Kensington palace.

  5. alibeebee says:

Why cant these beasts keep her name out their mouths??? like she ‘s not coming back, she’s let you be. i mean they hate her for the skin she lives in and that she’s breathing. have you noticed that the viciousness has taken a new form since “ i have cancer” princess has finished her treatment or is it only me?

    • Christine says:

It’s all a distraction that can be traced directly back to the fact that the monarch and his heir, plus their wives, are not even full-time working royals, while Meghan and Harry continue to explode with productivity. Their work product so vastly outpaces even “workhorse” Anne, it’s embarrassing.

    • Hannah1 says:

Don’t give her ideas — she’ll put out an “I have cancer” princess action figure

  6. Lili says:

i think some one on X has connected the dots. the editor of THR is closely linked to someone called dylan, who conspired with Thomas Markle to stop the wedding. so we are going back in time to the same old play book. Meghan needs to sue this guy

    • Nanea says:

Maer Roshan also has ties to Jeffrey Epstein and is an all-around POS.

Some Squaddies have unearthed so much stuff on him, so I’m looking forward how this will end for MR, in addition to him getting dragged and catching Ls.

    • Blujfly says:

Dylan is a reference to the extremely litigious editor owner of the National Enquirer, who also bought all of Trump’s bad stories and never printed them. Thomas Markle was on an Australian television show live, talked about him him and working with him, and the interview was immediately taken down.

  7. s808 says:

Yeah, this was 100% orchestrated by the BM/KP. They thought that A) it coming from a American pub may give it some legitimacy and that B) M wouldn’t pushback but it didn’t work because the THR article was so terribly written it’s laughable and Archwell responded immediately with specifics and people will to go on the record with their claims.

I do think this is direct response to H’s packed and highly visible NYC trip. If W can’t be there to pull focus they’ll try to drum up drama to overshadow it using his wife instead.

    • Amy Bee says:

      I agree.

      • s808 says:

With more British people being installed in these legacy publications I hope their team is ready for more bs cause it’s coming. The BM is playing the long game in trying to ruin them.

    • Ginger says:

Yeah, it’s definitely from the BM and KP because the rota are the only ones melting down over it.

    • swaz says:

Exactly, the whole purpose of this rehash drama is to distract from what Harry is doing. Everytime the Sussexes drop a date for events in advance we are subjected to this insane drama. HARRY’S OUT THERE DOING THE GOOD WORK WHILE WILLIAM IS AT HOME GROWING A BEARD 🤣

    • Nic919 says:

Lee Thompson is the British guy who used to work at NBC. It’s KP directing this. He would know that THR has been considered a trade paper.

  8. Amy Bee says:

I love that the British press are upset about this. They thought they had the upper hand when they commissioned that THR story and never expected Meghan to respond with named sources. The daily beast article was a feeble attempt to go on the offensive but it didn’t work because the piece was full of unnamed sources and no actual infomatiion except name calling. The daily beast just ended up exposing KP. The next time they try something I hope Meghan releases the 25 page dossier.

  9. Pink tutu says:

I saw something repeated on insta from twitter. I don’t have x. But Richard palmer seemed to have lost his mind being called out on his Sussex lies, to the point he screamed libel! Lol he doubled down on having sources inside the Sussex camp. Then a real journalist pulled him to pieces and chewed him up in tiny pieces and he was almost crying at the end. Still claiming sources inside Sussex camp. But he backed off. The rota need more of that push back. Plus she pointed out she was a real journalist, unlike him.

    • Nic919 says:

Palmolive was roasted yesterday. Royal reporters are court stenographers not journalists and so the real journalists called his group out for the total lack of ethics.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

That needs to happen to everyone in the Rota, every day.

Love how Eden is happy to dish abuse out to Meghan for HALF A DECADE, but can’t handle being slapped in the face with receipts and facts about how he’s lying on her name for even two minutes without him sh-tting his pants and crying.

He needs to be shamed right out of media, full stop.

  10. MsIam says:

Daily Beast basically outed William and Jason as the ones behind this. Plus they managed to make the Windsors look like the real psychos. KP is going to keep pushing until this whole thing blows up in their faces.

  11. Oh_Hey says:

The best way to get this to stop is to sue for libel. The only way to defend that claim on the part of the papers is to show it’s true. They can’t both shield their sources behind journalistic protections and “trust us, bro” at the same time. The person will either have to supply evidence or come forward and say what happened with their whole chest.

Meghan is a public figure so the bar will be high to get a libel charge in front of a civil judge but give THR is a trade paper she could argue that it’s hindering her business dealings, good name, and reputation as it relates to Netflix, her deal with Lemondada, and the launch of ARO. Cardi B sued a YouTuber and won 4 million so it’s possible to get someone like the THR if they’re lying.

    • Julia says:

You can’t sue for an article full of anonymous sources because the journalist is just repeating what he was allegedly told.

      • Nerd says:

Why can’t you sue for an article with anonymous sources? There can be a discovery of the unnamed sources otherwise the article lacks credibility and should be sued for defamation of character.

    • sevenblue says:

They need to make false definitive statements to count as libel. That is why their lies are so vague and all about “feelings”. They know if they made up an event, it would give legal ground to Meghan to sue them. Cardi sued and won because the youtuber stated falsely that Cardi has STD and infected other people deliberately (apart from other lies).

    • Hannah1 says:

Suing for False light invasion of privacy does not require definitive statements of fact.

What did Carol Burnett use against the National Enquirer when they implied she was drunk?

  12. Hypocrisy says:

When the author of the smear campaign article in THR has a history of racist and hateful tweets and comments about Princess Meghan it isn’t to hard to figure out why they went to him. This is completely KPs work and tactics especially the screaming fit about facts disrupting their vile lies that they want everyone to believe, with no named sources, no facts or evidence whatsoever. We no longer believe unnamed sources does not matter where the article is published, the BRF is always the unnamed source every time I see one of these articles. BP can release the bullying investigation report and clear this all up, but they won’t because it proves that they lied, let’s not forget that fact.

  13. Jais says:

The HR is doubling down sure but what else were they going to do? Say oops our bad. I’m thinking there is a source but the reporter knows it’s a sketchy source with an agenda. And the reporter was good with that. Bc the reporter is suspiciously connected to a lot of people who have gone after Meghan in the past. As for the source. Is the source lying? Is the source someone who barely worked with Meghan? Is the source someone who was let go and has a grudge? Idk, but one thing I noticed Is that in the reporter’s iaccess Hollywood interview in which he doubled down, he mentioned source, as in one. He did not mention sources iirc. Sounds like one bad faith source and a lot of rehashing from the BM went into the article. The journalism is bad.

    • aquarius64 says:

Sounds like this hack didn’t bother to vet this “source” and THR is still wiping the egg off its face.

    • Square2 says:

Camilla T went on British NATIONALLY broadcasting morning show double down, triple down her source & report on “Meghan made Kate cry” story the next day after the Oprah Interview.

These people hold on to their lies pretending having journalistic integrity. Absolutely trashes.

And KP, WanK & the Midd family obviously do not believe in Karma. Keep playing with fire, you’ll get burned.

      • Jais says:

Yeah, she did double down and she’s never wavered that she had sources. Although, she did say she had impeccable sources, as in multiple people did tell her the same lie. In that interview with the royal reporters and Amol Rajan, she said she would not print something unless it was confirmed by 2 people. Which sure. But it was still a lie that apparently 2 people were happy to tell her. And she was writing for the Telegraph which is considered a broadsheet and not a tabloid in the UK so it gave the story credibility. Here we have people giving this legitimacy bc it’s in the HR, which is a trade paper so it must be true. In this case, it sounds like the writer is working with just one single source and old stories. Again, bad journalism and I think the writer knows their single source is sketch and everything else is old news.

  14. aquarius64 says:

The BM and the rota are upset their credibility is more damaged thanks to US Weekly. I think they’re afraid Meghan will sue the Hollywood Reporter. In the US, for defamation one element is proof that the story is not true. On the record staffers provide that. THR will have to name the snitch and said snitch will be subject to direct and cross examination. If Meghan is willing to take on the Daily Fail and win, and fight back on Scammy’s lawsuit (and won that first round) she would fight this.

    • Merely me says:

They won’t reveal their source. They don’t have the burden of proof, and they have a legal right to protect sources.

  15. Chantale says:

I cut off THR and Newseek ever since they went tabloids a few months ago. Next on my list is the Daily Beast. I have not gone to y he tabloid sites of that salty island in over 5 years. If a story link to one of their sites, I do not read the rest of the story. I actually do avoid tabloids over here too but once in a while I will go to read a story. THR got what they wanted from H&M fans, publicity. I hope they will ignore and do not give them clicks from now on.

  16. CM says:

There are powerful people working overtime behind the scenes to try to destroy this woman’s character and livelihood. Only one institution I can think of which has an ax to grind. I hope they get exposed and brought down.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

CM, it really makes Harry’s lawsuit, which goes to trial in January (IIRC), very interesting. I wonder just how much info will be found to come from the palaces. We’ll all get to see the evidence for all of the illegal activities alleged. Oh yes, there are some people who REALLY don’t want the lawsuit to go forward,

  17. Lavendel says:

It’s not about Harry, who has been performing in New York for days with great success and showing the work of all the institutions he himself works with. A successful, thoroughly likeable and modest man. Nor is it about Meghan, who goes about her work, is very well prepared for everything – such a good and sensitive, caring employee who succeeds wherever real work is needed. A father and a mother ❣️

It’s about the right-wing media with their sectarian pseudo-journalism, which people still believe. The uncontrolled power of this press is used by right-wing extremist forces to destroy people, structures and entire parties and governments.

Since they are not believed outside of their sectarian structures, neither on Harry and Meghan nor on any other topic, they are trying to achieve ever more quantity and ever more agitation. There is a right-wing extremist movement that is trying to buy up media and newspapers all over the world – it’s very easy to find out. There should be many more organizations like the Lincoln Project and the Bylinetimes.

There is still too much arrogance from academic circles towards all these right-wing tabloids around the world. At some point it will be too late. It is not education that will determine how much power someone has, but the baseball bat and the destruction of those who believe differently, think differently, have a different skin color, are different.

Harry and Meghan are very brave leaders of the rest of us who detest this right-wing radical world in all its hideousness and in all its facets. That is what these people want to destroy. They want to destroy what points to what they are destroying.

    • StarWonderful says:

      Exactly! Well put!

    • 2cents says:

I agree that the right wing media owners in the US and UK, in collaboration with extremist, anti democracy forces like the shady Heritage foundation (see their recent lawsuit) are trying to obstruct the Sussexes‘ growing global and American progressive influence.

We must do all we can to save democracy! VOTE BLUE!!!

  18. L4Frimaire says:

The reason they are so pissed about the pushback because it can be construed as the first step toward legal action. They’re now on notice. If they keep with these stories, after it has been refuted on record, they are setting themselves up for either libel or harassment. They know how this is. Now they can keep digging for some smoking gun, but it brings the question why are they digging into Archewell and specifically looking for dirt on Meghan. Why now? Sidebar, a certain Canadian gossiper, who btw thought Kate’s video was amazing and glorious, was questioning why the Sussexes would go to a lowly publication like US and thinks it was a bad move. But then again she loved that Twilight knockoff video so whatever.

    • SarahMcK says:

Yeah, that was weird. She seems to have a bit of an axe to grind.

      • Bings says:

Not sure Lainey has an axe to grind but I saw something a while back. She got some flack because there’s a picture of her with Meghan and I think Jessica Mulroney (sp) all sitting together at an event. If I remember correctly she was accused of being partial to Meghan. Since then she hardly covers Meghan or she writes fro the side of Kensington Palace.

    • Jais says:

Usmag has some new people from what I’ve read and I wonder if Harry and Meghan have a decent relationship with someone working there. Meghan talked about her fashion and wearing clothes from people she has a good relationship with. I wonder if it’s the same with the media. They will go to people they have good relationships with simple as that.

      • Pinkosaurus says:

I did find it interesting that this official response was in US Weekly. I can’t imagine that other outlets would not be interested so I think that’s a choice by M&H. They must feel comfortable with the new team running the publication and the reporting because, let’s be real, Archiwell could have called The New York Times and gotten an article run.

    • Square2 says:

That Sidebar person was ridiculous. Why went to US Weekly? 1. The THR article was a gossiping story not industrial news story. 2. For entertainment contents, most people in the USA know People Magazine & US Weekly, and they are widely distributed. InTouch, Life & Style are too gossipy. 3. It’s election year, “higher” publications have enough everyday craziness in politics to write about; and election news is more important than print a rebuttal to the gossipy THR article.

Let’s talk about the Wails video. This time, they had to hire & NAME a real person (wedding videographer, among other areas) for this vid. Because last time they tried to piggyback BBC’s reputation for that AI like video, nobody from BBC Entertainment was willing to confirm the FINAL product was their editing. Just, a crew filmed it and handed over the raw footage to KP.

BTW, all British main media are lowerly publication companies to me, even BBC News.

  19. Jay says:

I agree – the fact that the Hollywood Reporter story had nothing new, even though it was supposedly sourced from someone “high up” at Archwell is suspect. All of the “duchess difficult” and “5 am emails” stuff is regurgitated from the British tabloids. Also, for what it’s worth, it doesn’t sound like a very “American” complaint! Especially from professionals who are working in the non-profit sector at a high level. It sounds like a stodgy office that is obsessed with protocol, status, and what is or isn’t “done”. Does that workplace sound like Archwell? Or does that sound more like KP? personally, I think the THR has been fed a load of crap.

Two previous cases come to mind:
    1. The bullying investigation that went nowhere: Remember how gung ho the now disgraced Simon Case was about opening his investigation into Meghan? Finally, her crimes would be laid out for all to see! But…once you looked closer, and the stories were published, it showed a litany of secondhand complaints from people who were clearly incompetent, unqualified, or both. The “evidence” was simply stories that had been emailed to Case (I can’t remember now if it was Jason K or not). They were not documented at the time, they were not reported, and if I recall, the original complainants did not want to go on the record. The complaints were things like “Meghan made me cry” or they didn’t like her “tone”. It was a shambles! There is a reason why the final “report” wasn’t published. But the point is, at the time, the complaints and investigation seemed real and potentially damaging. Maybe someone is trying the same trick here?

    2. Meghan’s Copyright Case
Another blast from the past! Remember how during Meghan’s case against the Fail, Jason K put himself forward as a potential witness! He supposedly had damaging information that proved Meghan was a dangerous liar – oh no! But once he laid out his communications with Meghan, it was clear that that they were carefully edited and far from proving the case against her, they actually ended up hurting Jason’s credibility. Meghan won that case and Jason was moved over to the Royal Foundation. In both cases, the stories about Meghan that were shared to various news outlets were made to be damaging, but turned out to be baseless and untrue upon examination. They even ended up rebounding back and damaging Case and Knauf.

It’s also worth noting that if we go by THR’s wording of a source “high up” in an organization that had “worked for the couple”, that description could certainly apply to both of those men, both of whom are now disgraced and have major grudges against MM.

    • Jay says:

I’ll just add: In double-checking the spelling of Jason Knauf, one of the first results was a Newsweek article from September 24 about Prince William’s Ex-Aide (Simon Case) and calls for him to resign due to allegations of “leaking to the media”. It also goes into the details of the two cases I just mentioned here. Now I wish I had just linked rather than getting so long-winded! The story: https://www.newsweek.com/prince-william-aide-government-leaks-harry-meghan-bullying-1957739

      • Square2 says:

When your “top civil servant” is evil but can still holding his position & power, your country & government are in big trouble.

It’s ridiculous when the “Partygate” & “WhatsApp saga” got blown up, first they appointed Sim0n Case to investigate. He was in it! He somehow survived, just like BoJo. I really can’t take UK & its government seriously. Their Class System & Oxbridge links are so strong.

  20. Kingston says:

It is so obvious. So embarrassingly, cringe-worthily obvious:

The british royal institution, acting on behalf of Bully via its courtiers, is so pissed that their hit piece in THR failed so spectacularly in the face of the unprecedented & immediate pushback by H&M in US Weekly, that they forgot to hide their hand in their act of doubling-down in THR.

How else to explain the absolutely unhinged description of M as a “demon”???????!!!!!!

I mean……..who does that? Who says that???

When I saw that shocking outburst, what immediately came to mind was the fairytale: Rumpelstiltskin, at the point when he realized he was thwarted by the new queen whose first-born he had bargained to get if the queen failed to learn his name. He was so shocked and angry that she had thwarted him that he stomped his feet and screamed out in anger and frustration.

Thats what the KP courtiers have done with this embarrassing outburst. Now everyone can clearly see their hands in this years-long smear campaign against this woman who has done nothing to those losers in that old, decayed institution but HINT! at the way she was treated by that pack of old racists.

And why now? Nothing but KP’s tired, same-old/same-old attempts to distract from Harry’s obvious ‘Global Statesman’ activities on the world stage, which simultaneously reminded everyone of Bully’s embarrassing failures this time last year.

Everyone now knows and are saying that this latest smear campaign against M is the desperate attempt by the british royal institution in general and Bully in particular, to hurt and put pressure on H to stop being so excellent on the world stage, thereby throwing into the sharp relief, the complete and utter incompetence of the one in whom britian’s hopes and dreams rest as “future king.”

    • Dee(2) says:

They described her as a demon?!! This is why their stories aren’t hitting this year. Beyond the fact that this is old news for the casual watchers, and general gossip purveyors, it’s their insistence to make her into some sort of cartoonish supervillain that is their downfall. Look, I’m sure that Meghan Markle has said something cringe-worthy, or been inconsiderate in 42 years on this planet. Because I have been. Not intentionally, and I’ve changed my behavior when pointed out to me because I’m not perfect, no one is and they’re treating her like it’s a crime not to be. Constantly treating her like she’s the literal Antichrist is just too much. They have no sense of proportion and are having serious mental breakdowns about this woman ruining their narrative and striking at their egos.

This is really true. Psycho, demon, dictator in high heels. Those are words coming from a place of real hate. And who has that level of hate? A certain deviled egg across the ocean comes to mind. And yes it makes it unbelievable.

    • Hannah1 says:

I don’t see ‘right wing’ America as caring about H&M, certainly not to that level of vitriol. So there must be primary are drivers other than right-left or even just racism:

      1) Endless jealousy and personal hatred from W&K , and/or

      2) Deep fear from BRF-allied $$ interests that any success by H&M shows how anachronistic and useless the left-behinds are

I wish a more respected publication had released this article, because it can’t hold a candle to The Hollywood Reporter. May the next publication be a stronger one.

    • swaz says:

Wait till William follows them to US Weekly which he will, and then everyone will be singing a different song. Every publication they use William follows 😕

    • Nerd says:

I don’t know how THR is considered as more respectable than any other publication, especially considering how they have started to lean more right wing in their reporting because of who owns it and their connections to Murdoch and Epstein. We must be honest that there really is no such thing as a respected media outlet. There has been a back and forth of some that have been respected, but too often the media is not entirely trustworthy anymore. Too many tabloid connections from the UK are entering the media outlets and changing how ethical and honest reporting is.

    • Jay says:

Honestly, so do I – US Weekly doesn’t exactly have a reputation for hard-hitting news! But neither does People. But then I went down the list – Deadline is now owned by the same people that publish THR. Page 6 has links to the Murdochs and the DM – they are certainly not going to rebut these rumours. The Washington Post and several other “real” news outlets have had their own scandals involving British editors trying to operate within the British media invisible contract. Yahoo news might not be believed because of Omid. Who could they trust? It’s a very short list.

      • sunnyside up says:

Yesterday yahoo had loads of stories about this, they all repeated the lies but there was very little mention about the refutation and you had to read a lot to find it. Definitely biased.

    • Tessa says:

A respectable publication does not go in for this sort of trashing and using sexist names like dictator in
      High heels.

    • windyriver says:

Look up the articles about the layoffs including long time employees that have been going on at THR. The article about Meghan is a sign of the trash publication they’re about to become. There have been some informative links in the comments: IIRC, one was about how THR would be less focused on the entertainment industry, and more on entertainment stories in general. I’m not that familiar with THR as it’s existed in the past, but sounds like, as with once respected Newsweek, it’s about to turn into something else entirely.

Also, somewhere on here someone suggested Abigail Spencer may have a connection to someone at US Weekly.

“I wish a more respected publication had released this article, because it can’t hold a candle to The Hollywood Reporter.”
      @GraveyardGrace – Are you trolling?

Those of us who used to read Hollywood Reporter would like it to become a more respected publication than it is on trend to become. Anonymous sources and ONLY anonymous sources. Not including writers’ names on articles. Suggestions of possible facts, rather than actual facts with a who, what, where and when. Excessive use of adjectives and emotionally laden terms like “demon” to describe people.
      Y’all are trippin Gracie!

  22. Mrs. Smith says:

I think we are on the right track to smoking out the real story here. As several commenters mentioned, the editor of THR is directly connected to Murdoch and the right wing nut jobs who are on this ridiculous war path to discredit and smear H&M. There have been a few back-to-back Sussex wins recently (Heritage Foundation was tossed out of court, H’s lawsuit against Murdoch in the UK is gearing up and H’s successful NYC appearances this week to name just a few) which, I suppose, triggered this negative story, this time in an American outlet. THR was able to run a couple of hit pieces w/no pushback, so this is where the BM is going with their egg-shaped narrative (bonus points for trying to undermine H&M’s business dealings in Hollywood).

THR will never name their source, so as long as this EIC is in charge, I expect there will be more stories like these. I guess the source must be someone barely linked to H&M, but could pass muster as possible current “staffer.” Someone here mentioned Spotify, who we know are disgruntled, or maybe someone at KP/BP could still be considered current?

Anyway, I think the whole why US Weekly? question comes down to they could offer the Sussexes a cover story on tight turn around. People’s cover was locked in w/Lisa Marie Presley. Other outlets like Vanity Fair, etc., are monthly and covers are locked months in advance.

    • Jais says:

I think you’re right. That there may be more of this to come. It very possibly might ratchet up as we get closer to the January court case with Murdoch. They know Harry prefers any hits be against him and the way to hurt him is through Meghan.

      • sunnyside up says:

Perhaps THR doesn’t expect that Murdoch readers will have remembered reading this all before and will recognise it for what it is.

  23. AOC says:

Is this timed to divert attention from the 53% rise of taxpayer funded money (£45million) the royal layabouts have just been awarded, bringing the total annual cost to £132million at a time when the UK economy is in freefall? People should be asking, if Harry and Meghan can fund themselves AND still do good works, why can’t W &K and the whole lazy shower do the same?
If they had to work for a living like the rest of us, they wouldn’t have time to torment a couple who are working hard to bring good to the world and minding their own d*** business.

  24. Lavendel says:

These right-wing pseudojournalists called her a demon, didn’t they? A bestial dehumanisation in the style of fascism and the “Malleus Maleficarum”. A writing about the bloodiest era of witch-hunting. These people play with human lives and act like dictators and inquisitors – authorised to destroy human lives. “Demon”, “psychotic”, “narcissistic” etc. …… It’s unbelievable what these people are allowed to do in public. How many more unstable people do these unscrupulous pseudo-journalists want to stir up?

  25. Maxine Branch says:

Those gutter rats just dusted off their old fall back of Meghan being a bully to try to hurt Harry and to distract from all the positive actions the Sussexes have been engaged in. Fortunately for Meghan, this will not have the same effect it initially had. She is now home, surrounded by a tribe of folks who love her, she and her husband have gone through therapy, they wrote a 25 page response to this nonsense as Harry reported in Spare and have moved on. This nonsense is for the trolls and their fellow rats in the UK . In America, a country of approximately 360m folks this type of disgusting nonsense does not land the way it does in the gutter press in the UK. I have been in the United States the entirety of my life and had never heard of the Daily Mail, Daily Beast or any of those gutter rags until I started following Meghan’s journey and I am a prolific reader. As a Sussex supporter, I read this mess on line for what it was, just clickbait and nonsense. The Sussexes appear to have moved on and so have I, you expect gutter from UK adjacent reporters and they never disappoint.

  26. sunnyside up says:

Those who criticise Meghan withhold their names and those who praise her give their names. It’s easy to tell who is telling the truth.

  27. Snapdragon says:

I’m continually staggered by the time, energy & lengths that the whole right-wing, Murdoch-Rothermere print/digital media ecosystem invest (across three bloody continents) in sabotaging, maligning & ill-wishing the Sussexes. The sheer quantity of baseless, rehashed, endlessly mean & stupid content is off the charts. It’s more than clicks & cash, it seems weirdly political, petty & nasty. Despite all these Brit tab reporters gradually infiltrating US Media, those two keep moving and having impact & success despite all the manufactured venom. It’s pretty amazing. Good for H & M!

  28. AC says:

Their article cites unnamed sources LMAO. Who here is going to take THAT seriously.
US weekly’s article cited real people.
    Rest my case.

  29. blunt talker says:

I hope more people read what Bernadette Giacomazzo said what most people think of the mouth megaphones from the UK-I hope Harry and Meghan reads it too-that was a pure jump down your throat and stomp your liver type of response to this smearing nonsense against the Sussexes-This lady’s statement should be posted everywhere it can be posted-these UK megaphones should be put in their place since they are always trying to put Meghan in her place-I almost fell out my seat when I read it- I have saying for the longest that the so-called UK school of journalism is very weak in teaching people how to become journalists instead of smearmongers.God bless any journalist with common sense.
