Heath Ledger’s death is looking more like a tragic accident than anything intentional or related to illegal drug use. While there were theories that Mary Kate Olsen called her private security guards instead of 911 in order to make sure no incriminating evidence was at the scene, TMZ reports that the police were already there when the guard arrived. There would have been no time for anyone to clean up, and the apartment looked completely normal according to sources. Remember that there were no illegal drugs found on the scene and even the rolled up $20 tested negative for drugs. Now TMZ has some supposed news from insiders that the toxicology reports show levels too low for any of the prescription drugs to have caused Ledger’s death:
The reason they think that — it’s now appearing that the level of toxicity (from medication) in Ledger’s system was low enough that it may not have caused his death. These sources say Heath’s heart stopped. It could have been a heart attack but it’s not certain, at least not yet. Although it’s bizarre that a 28-year-old could die of natural causes, it happens.

TMZ also reports that it is thought that Heath had already passed at 1:00 when the housekeeper entered his room and said she heard him snoring. Sources say they estimate that he died at least three hours before he was found at 3:30.
A private memorial service was held for Heath in LA on Saturday night at the Westwood Village Memorial Park. Family and friends were in attendance, and Heath’s ex girlfriend, Naomi Watts, was also there. It was a quick 30 minute service and there was a gathering for mourners at the Beverly Hills Hotel shortly afterwards.
On Saturday night at The Australia Day Black Tie Gala in NY, Australia’s counsel general read a statement from Heath’s father, Kim Ledger:
“Heath did not become an actor for the fame or fortune. He loved his craft and he loved helping his friends. He loved chess and skateboarding too,” said the letter read to guests at the G’Day USA Australia Day Ball at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan. “My image of Heath in New York is him with his skateboard, a canvas bag and his beanie. That was Heath to me.”

In an appearance on Oprah this week, Daniel Day Lewis broke down and said he wanted to talk about Ledger’s death. He had just heard about it and said yet to meet him, but “I have an impression, a strong impression I would have liked him very much as a man if I had.” At the Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday, Lewis dedicated his best actor award for There Will Be Blood to Heath. He said “He was perfect. And that scene in the trailer at the end of the film is as moving as anything I have ever seen.”
Of all the stories about Heath last week, one that really touched me include the fact that he was a chess lover and occasionally stopped by Washington Square Park for a pickup game with the regulars. They say he would joke around while playing and would laugh when someone talked smack to him about his game.
Heath’s remains are now on route to his final resting place, which is unknown. It is thought that he will be buried in his hometown of Perth, Australia, but the details are not known to the public.
