Taylor Swift wore Vivienne Westwood to last night’s Chiefs game in Kansas City

Taylor Swift finally made it to a Kansas City Chiefs game! She skipped the past two games, both of which were away-games. But she was back in Kansas City, at Arrowhead Stadium, for last night’s Chiefs game. The Chiefs beat the New Orleans Saints, and from what I’ve seen, Travis Kelce apparently played a lot better last night than in the first games of the season.

Taylor wore a very cute Vivienne Westwood dress, and I think the boots and her purse are Westwood too. She’s been going through a minidress-and-boots phase and it works on her. She has legs for days, that’s why. I like the glitter on her cheeks, it’s very cute. I’ve seen some reporting that Taylor and her security do not like the fact that there are photographers positioned inside the stadium specifically to get photos of her, but I’m not sure if I believe that – I think she’s worked out something with Arrowhead, where one or two photographers are allowed close to the private entrance (or wherever she is) and she uses it like a mini-runway. Her outfit choices seem to indicate that she’s using the football games like her own private fashion shows too.

Meanwhile, it does not appear that Taylor was in Kansas City for Travis’s 35th birthday on Saturday. He hosted the Kelce Car Jam for charity, and Taylor wasn’t there, nor does it seem like she was in town at all? But yeah, it’s no big deal, since she obviously made it to the game last night. Maybe they went out to celebrate his birthday after the game.

In case you’re wondering, Taylor did not sit with Brittany Mahomes, but they did see each other and they were seen hugging. Taylor brought her dad to the game, just FYI.

It’s funny how different opinions can be- I think that same dress is ugly and it looks like the top part is falling off of her, and the face glitter is cringe. Whoever said Blake Lively is styling her now must be 100% correct. Oh well, I hope she had fun!🤷‍♀️

    • Get Real says:

      Fully agree 💯
That dress was awful and the glitter is for 13 year olds. Who are her target audience so idk maybe it works.

      • Mil says:

A woman can wear glitter, who cares? She is getting so much maga hate. Let’s not be part of the problem. And no, not a swiftie, i know like 2,3 songs.

      • Barrett says:

I’m down for the glitter. I’m not a fan of this or her styles lately. She has a killer figure and I don’t think this and they overall do it justice. Loved to see her in a new style …,

      • Megan says:

She desperately needs a new stylist. The short dress/boots look does not work for her.

      • Cait says:

I’m a 45 year-old woman with a face glitter collection for Saints games, Pelicans games, Mardi Gras parades, and music festivals. It doesn’t have to be a juvenile form of self-expression.

    • Smart&Messy says:

Sadly, I agree on all counts, including the one about Blake styling her. The same immaturity and overall cheap presentation of some originally good ideas apply to both women. And with their funds and sensational figures, it’s such a shame.
At first I thought the glitter was fake freckles, which would have been marginally better. I don’t hate her hair and make-up here.

    • Arizona says:

I personally don’t like the glitter, but they’re glitter freckles created by a woman with her independent business, and Taylor wearing them is going to be huge for her.

    • Snoozer says:

This dress would be amazing on the right person. Taylor just can’t quite pull it off. And a football game is the wrong place for it.

Some styles take a stylish person with some edge to pull them off.

If you’re not one of those people, it’s better (style-wise) to stick to more classic fashion.

It’s the same with Kate Middleton. She’s tall and thin but she can’t pull a lot of things off.

That said, I think it’s fine for Taylor to try things and have fun and experiment.

  2. Em says:

She wears some cute pieces but in general her fashion sense is atrocious and she needs to start dressing less like a teenager

    • Miranda says:

I generally don’t like to tell anyone to “dress their age”, because there are too many arbitrary beauty standards for women as it is. But in Taylor’s case, I do often wish that she’d not dress like a POORLY-STYLED teenager, at least. You’re so right that she has cute pieces, but the way she puts them together is sometimes…not the best.

      • AngryJayne says:

Yes! Thank you @Miranda, Em, Smart&Messy, Get Real, and Fancypants!
Sometimes it feels like I’ve taken crazy pills and everyone else is looking at something else. No one is saying she can’t wear what she wants- she should, and does just that.
        But.
For someone with an endless budget she seems to have a difficult time finding cute and flattering things that don’t veer into Too Much Territory.
The dress alone paired with mary-janes would be an adorable 90’s throwback moment. The boots with another look would work better- but altogether to quote Tim Gunn is: A lot of look.

      • Christina says:

Yes! She is a pretty woman with a great figure. She could look so much better. The clothes wear her. She should get a stylist for casual outfits, someone who arranges a bunch of stuff for her. She has the money, but it would take time she probably doesn’t want to use working with one. She is a grown woman who has the right to look bad.

  3. manda says:

Ok, I didn’t comment earlier bc I didn’t want to set the tone, but could not disagree more about this being a good outfit. The dress fits weirdly and the boots are hideous, and my goodness I wish she’d do something with her hair. Hire a stylist! Omg!!!!

    • Smart&Messy says:

Do you think she insists on this elementary school hairstyle because of her target audience?

      • Abby says:

Who do you think her targeted audience is? She is not writing songs for elementary kids. Her last several albums of music are about adult experiences. She is not catering to 14 year olds anymore. Those 14 year old fans are adult women now.

      • Becks1 says:

I don’t know about targeted audience, but she is still extremely popular with elementary school kids. About 90% of the girls at my son’s elementary school identify as Swifties it seems like. I can tell based on the tshirts and sweatshirts they wear 🤣🤣

      • manda says:

It’s just so blah. So “work from home.” So “air dried last night.” Like, some people have gorgeous curtain bangs (like Sabrina Carpenter, and this other actress that was in the rebooted Gossip Girl), but hers are not really curtain and they look unevenly cut. Her hair looks frizzy. It’s like she took a nap and it was kind of hot in the room. Maybe she’s not into having her hair done, but the style rarely goes with what she is wearing

      • Abby says:

Right! My daughter is a swiftie—mainly because she was introduced to her through me. 😆 but her more recent music is not written for the youths, is what I’m saying.

      • nmb says:

I’d say her target audience is women in their 30s….who have elementary kids, and the kids are listening to what their parents are by default? That’s why my elementary school daughter likes Taylor. I play the music I like while we’re driving places, doing stuff around the house, etc. because I can only listen to so much Disney, hahaha. My daughter is a defacto fan of Taylor.

      • Susan says:

Yes, that’s it. I heard a podcast discussing this & (according to someone who knows) she tries to dress in looks that are attainable by her audience. She doesn’t want to out-fashion her fans. Of course she could wear the best couture but she chooses to keep it dialed down. That being said, she can’t keep dressing like a teenager forever.

      • guest says:

It’s a simple ponytail, I don’t understand what makes this an “elementary school hairstyle”.

  4. Becks1 says:

I feel like that outfit, right down to the boots, is something I would have bought at Forever 21 20 years ago. Well, maybe the boots would have been from Target. And I don’t mean that in a good way.

I think to pull off an outfit like that you need a certain amount of fashion swagger and Taylor does not have that, for whatever reason. I think she tries so hard to make these high fashion moments happen and I think sometimes if she took a step back and went back to basics the result would be better looks for her.

I don’t believe the photographer story – I’m sure there is something worked out where the photographers are allowed to take pictures of her as she arrives. And honestly even if she doesn’t like it – there are photographers crawling all over the NFL stadiums, its going to happen.

In general the Chiefs did look a lot better last night – yes they were 4-0 going in, but a lot of those victories were super close and much tighter than the record indicates. Last night they looked more dominant and back to form (and still won by less than two TDs.)

    • Mimi says:

That outfit is awful. Sometimes, less is more. Some high-end jeans, boots and a designer sweater is perfect for a football game.

      • Christina says:

She is like Blake Lively. She tries too hard to poor effect. I agree with you. Simple would make her look beautiful. Instead, she is trying to be trendy. It doesn’t work for her.

    • Nic919 says:

I think her appeal for many women is that she isn’t sophisticated in style even though she tries and has the resources for it. She doesn’t intimidate them so it’s why the minivan comes out in force to defend her every move.

  5. Marie says:

According to fans, she went straight to Arrowhead from the airport. Also, judging by the vids from the Kelce Car Jam, it was a security nightmare and I don’t blame her for not going.

  6. ML says:

The photographer tidbit is odd to me—TS is someone who is often photographed. Honestly, is she trying to hide something by controlling how or by whom she gets photographed? Her face looks fuller to me in these pix.

    • nmb says:

I totally agree re: her face. Did she get some work done and that’s why she was laying low? Her face looks different.

      • Snideysense says:

I thought so too. It’s the lips. If you look at the heading photo that zooms in on her face, you can see the bottom lip is a little lumpy. The rest of the outfit distracts from that, though.

  7. Seraphina says:

Good gravy what is that catastrophic outfit she is wearing??? Taylor, if you’re reading this, who ever is dressing you is not your friend. Especially to a football game. A football game is not the fashion runway where you should be bold and testing fashion.

  8. TN Democrat says:

People don’t seem to register how dangerous magat diehards are. Speaking out against the tangerine clown and the supporting reproductive rights was a brave choice and the resulting maga vitriol would make most of us hide from the creepers. She has to be cautious with her personal security and cautious with events where others could get caught in the crossfire of maga hate directed at her. She could go to the games and never be seen and live totally undercover like ahe did for years. She could live a life in beige and black and never make any bad or bold fashion choices. I don’t like every fashion choice, but like that she takes fashion risks and has horrid hair days. Not dressing perfectly makes her more relatable, which is probably the reason her choices aren’t always on target.

  9. Stef says:

Her glowing face shows cute, content, and loved-up. I really enjoy that for her.

That dress, however, is just bad. Not just ill fitting and frumpy up top while also being too short somehow. Such a strange fit – not her best look this game.

Did they even win? I’m too lazy to check the score and I also don’t care about American football.

    • Becks1 says:

They did, 26-13. So better then their past games (although they are undefeated this season, some of their games were a lot closer) but not a blowout. Unfortunately with American football as opposed to the EPL or something, winning is all that matters, goal differential does not.

      • Stef says:

Thanks for the insight, Becks1. That’s interesting. Hope they don’t consider her a “good luck charm” – no one needs that type of pressure…

While I’m certain I’ll never care about American Football (I’m a tepidly interested CFL girl), at least now I’m slightly better informed!

  10. Maddy says:

The dress is ok, but the boots are terrible. The glitter is juvenile and not done properly.

  11. Agnes says:

I will never say anything even remotely negative about Taylor A. Swift again, not after her brilliant endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket. She and that darling Travis have a lot of fun with their clothing choices.

    • Scarlett says:

How do you feel about her hugging Patrick Mahomes’ MAGA wife? Serious question.

      • Lucy says:

I remain impressed by the ppl on this site who have never worked, lived or had family they disagreed with. Or I guess y’all just cut them out of your life completely? Britney is allowed to be a dumb dumb who believes the shit she was raised to believe, that doesn’t mean Taylor should never be seen in her vicinity. Taylors dad is most likely Trumpy, so she’s had to practice holding two things at once – her own beliefs, and someone she cares about showing an ugly side of themselves.

      • Stef says:

Scarlett – thanks for asking that question.

I asked the same thing a few weeks ago, before T’s endorsement and just after the hugging pics, and got seriously roasted. I learned some good perspectives though, so worth the burn!

      • Agnes says:

Better question: how does Trump feel about Brittany hugging Taylor.

      • Abby says:

I watched them hug from last night, and Taylor was leaving the suite, Brittany RAN OVER and hopped up and climbed her like a tree. Taylor hugged her, politely introduced her to her dad and tried to step away and keep walking. LOL.

      • Becks1 says:

@Abby yeah I saw that clip too and had the same impression you did. I was one of the ones criticizing Taylor for her (very public and affectionate) friendship with BM and maybe that was all an act or maybe last night was an act, or maybe the truth is somewhere in between. But last night it definitely looked like Brittany was way more excited to see Taylor than taylor was to see her. I was almost embarrassed for Brittany in that clip.

      • Jais says:

Yeah, I saw that clip and it was awkward! The run. The cling. The neediness. I liked agnes’ question about how does trump feel seeing Brittany climb Taylor like a vine😂

    • Scarlett says:

@Lucy, there was no snark intended in my question at all. I am struggling with being tolerant of how the other side thinks. I have always been good with believing that “people are allowed their views”, but in this and only this instance, I struggle to give grace and be tolerant, maybe because I am a POC, a woman, or that he is just a horrid horrid human and I don’t get how someone can support him. I am embarrassed to admit that I have removed so many people from my life for this reason, because my brain cannot wrap around the hate they spew, or their support for the hate monger. Guess even my tolerance has a breaking point and I have reached it, this election season.

@Stef, I will take the roast too, seeking to learn from different perspectives.

  12. Jais says:

If I had her long legs, I’d be in shorts skirts and long boots all fall. Envy from a short girl😂. The plaid is very fall and she looks like she’s having fun. I think my favorite game day looks though were when she did the vintage looking oversized sweatshirts last year.

  13. Kitten says:

Why must we endure the fitted platform wedge boots again?? WHY? I have accepted that baggy wide leg jeans are back but must every terrible fashion trend regurgitate itself? Have we learned absolutely NOTHING from past mistakes?????

  14. NotSoSocialB says:

I despise chunky platform boots, short or tall.

The construction of the top is ridiculous.

    3/10.

    • Stef says:

      Agreed!

Didn’t notice the ugly, chunky Spice Girl era bad boots until after I posted my thoughts on the ill fitting dress. Ick!

  15. NotSoSocialB says:

I despise chunky platform boots, short or tall.

The construction of the top is ridiculous.

    The glitter freckles ain’t it.

    3/10.

  16. MaisiesMom says:

I don’t care for the dress. The edgy schoolgirl look is usually fine by me. I love plaid in fall, and mini skirts and boots tend to look great on leggy women and girls. But the top is weird and it just doesn’t feel right for the occasion. I think oversized jerseys, jeans with custom jackets, that sort of thing work better for a football game.

Maybe Vivienne Westwood just isn’t my jam. I feel like she takes looks that should work and dials them up one notch too far.

I don’t mind the glitter. People paint their faces and the like for games so some eye-catching, kitschy detail like that doesn’t seem weird to me. It’s fun for the occasion.

  17. Ms single malt says:

I think she looks great. She looks like she is feeling confident. Her bf likely enjoys her sense of style these days – short skirts and black boots. I’m happy to see her attending these games. Kudos to the Chiefs for giving her a safe space to watch the games. I don’t understand why this crowd feels the need to overly critique her clothing choices so harshly. She wears things I would pass on but the world will go on. Sigh … I’m not a Swiftie but I admire her for her Kamala Harris endorsement. I think she has shown us recently that she is going to say what she wants, wear what she wants and date who she wants. And that also means she will be friends with people that others might not. Good for her.

  18. girl_ninja says:

I think she definitely dresses for herself but also to stick it to folks who are constantly criticizing her every move.

  19. QuiteContrary says:

I actually really like the bottom half of her outfit, boots and all — the clunky boots seem kind of appropriate for a football stadium.

It’s just the top of the dress that is weird to me.

I was happy to see her there … still hoping for a Jason Kelce best-man speech.

  20. DaveW says:

I’m one of the outliers and like the whole look, and I usually don’t like what Taylor Swift wears.

But, aside from loosely following the Patriots because it’s required where I live, when did the whole dressing up/fit check/game day “look” for players and WAGS become such a thing? I remember back in the day teams would wear a jacket/tie for traveling and away games, but when did it become a mini runway show?

    • Pat Gaddess says:

There are photos circulating of a party after the game of football players that appears to be her birthday party for Travis. She dressed for the party I guess. KC is very good about letting her and Travis live a private life. According to the KC grapevine she has been in KC all week. They went out to
Dinner late at a couple of their favorite places and they are not noticed because they slip in the back door and eat in a banquet room just before closing. Travis shops at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s and no one bothers him. The street fair was a mess so she didn’t go but his family all stayed at a hotel including Mama Swift
Which is an indication Taylor is in residence. I am sort of a local.

  21. TheOriginalMia says:

I think she looks ridiculous most of the times she’s at these games, but she’s not dressing for my gaze anyway. I always get the vibe that she’s dressing like the high school girlfriend of a football player. JMO

  22. Bumblebee says:

I’m laughing at all these fashion critiques. You do realize she’s going to a football game? She’s not working. She can wear whatever she wants.

  23. Deedee says:

Do not like that outfit at all and I dont think the venue is right for it either, but that’s me.

  24. Ladiabla says:

Horrible. She’s really doesn’t have a sense of style, even with her money. Sorry Tay, it’s all bad, the dress, the boots, the glitter. I’m sure her pal Brittany thought it was super cuuuute.
