Do you guys remember Michael Shannon’s interviews during the Trump administration? Every single time they put a microphone on Shannon, he trashed Donald Trump and all of the people who voted for Trump. He was one of the few celebrities to do that consistently. I wish he was still doing it! But in the meantime, we have another Michael: Michael Keaton, who endorsed Kamala Harris. Keaton has been a celebrity surrogate for VP Harris too, traveling to Pennsylvania to campaign in person. Well, Keaton has something to say to Trump voters:
Michael Keaton published a video on Instagram in which he directly addressed men who attend rallies for Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The Batman and Beetlejuice icon reminded Trump and Musk supporters that “they don’t really respect you,” so why attend one of their rallies? Keaton is supporting Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election and recently campaigned for her in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
“For some of you folks, guys mostly , who are thinking of attending a rally with Musk and Trump… They don’t really respect you, they laugh at you behind your back, they think you’re stupid,” Keaton said in the video. “They don’t want to hang out with you. They have nothing in common with you. They’re not your bros.”
“When Trump years ago said ‘I could shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue and they’d still vote for me,’ basically what he is saying is that these people are so dumb and so stupid they’d still vote for him. They have no respect for you, trust me.”
He’s right. I’ve seen people/journalists try to psychoanalyze Trump voters and why they align with Trump and why Trump “speaks” to them. Racism is a huge chunk of it, as is the baked-in misogyny of everything Trump does and says, which is a reflection of the misogyny inherent within American culture. But really, I wonder if it’s just incredibly simple: Trump voters are idiots. It’s not 2016 anymore, we don’t have to pussyfoot around it and pretend that Trump voters are aggrieved blue collar types who appreciate Trump’s business acumen. They are idiots, racists and misogynists. They are morons consumed with hate. They don’t even realize that Trump thinks they’re all dumb rednecks ripe for his con.

He is telling no lies. trump and musk don’t know the meaning of the word respect.
Hate and greed really do make strange bedfellows. Trump and Musk have no use for these crazy, deranged, deplorable people. And I think deep down these crazies know it too. They all use each other. Trump and Musk are just their means to their ends for hate and the deplorables are T&M’s willing partners in their quest for money and power.
There’s a great (sobering) article in The Atlantic today titled, “Trump’s depravity will not cost him the election,” that basically says a big part of the support for Trump is revenge as well. Essentially sticking it to all the people who look down on them and think they’re better than them. It’s pretty spot-on.
I definitely think that’s accurate, although I’m too scared to read the article at this moment.
I do think a lot of Trump’s popularity stems from the fact that liberals utterly despise him. It’s kinda sad because this whole thing is just a snake eating it’s tail: Conservatives vote for Trump because liberals hate him > Liberals in turn hate Conservatives for voting for Trump..the cycle continues and the country becomes more polarized, more angry with each other, less understanding and willing to reach common ground.
I don’t know how we get out of this vicious cycle short of splitting the country apart and I say that as someone who very much despises Trump voters and has, at times, wished that New England could just secede from the union and leave the scourge behind.
So yeah, I’m part of the problem, I guess. I just don’t know how to not be angry at people who despise freedom and democracy; people who are willing to throw these American fundamentals away to “Own The Libs”. It’s just infuriating to me.
Sure, his depravity will not cost him the election but other factors might. That’s what I’m holding out for. KH is a formidable candidate and has the momentum. And yeah, it’s infuriating.
Michael Keaton is being very polite in his wording.
It would to true to use the phrase:
Trump and Musk would not piss on you if you burst into flames.
There, right to the point.

I think that this message should come from someone like Michael Keaton. Even though he’s a rich white man he is white and sometimes being spoken to with respect. I don’t understand the hate and cannot stomach that lot, but maybe others can help them.
IMO, Trump and his cult are angry, out of touch and they want a time of their youth that never really existed.
The Good Old days, when I was a kid, blah, blah.
The reality of life is that the American dream, has always been a rose colored dream which the majority can never get to. The best was you hoped, you could do a little better to give your kids a tiny bit more to start with. Dems tried for this.
Trump is winning on anger, fear, the other, crazy religious ideas, and racism.
His cult are buying it.
I’m in Minnesota. I wish Canada adopts us if it goes to Trump.
I’ve investigated the possibility of relocating to Canada. It’s not easy. You need to be approved. You can’t just walk in and say I’m staying. There are other roadblocks as well but you can Google “how can I move to Canada”. Most people change their minds after reading it. It helps if you’re young with an in demand skill, but older retired folks are not encouraged.
I suspect that his supporters realize this but they also think: ‘But not me. They’d like me. I am not like the other MAGA supporters.’
To those MAGA folks – I’m sorry but you are wrong. Unless you are wealthy, they think of you as insignificant at best and trashy idiots at worst.
I wish there was a way to make people realize this.
There is a report by 40 mental health experts, including military mental health experts, and a world-renowned forensic psychiatrist, which explains exactly what Trump is and what has happened to the MAGA public. They term it a mental illness that will have to be addressed. I urge you to look up Dr. Bandy Lee (i think I have that correctly). You’ll find an excellent podcast with their conclusions on either the Meidas Touch or Brian Tyler Cohen podcases. Look it up, it’s really eye opening.
