Queen Camilla skipped all of her events last week, and she notably skipped all of the Remembrance events too. No appearance at the Cenotaph, no Festival of Remembrance, no viewing of the poppies. The reason given was a “chest infection,” possibly due to all of the traveling Camilla and Charles did last month. They were in India, Australia and Samoa, and Camilla in particular is not a good traveler. What’s weird is that Camilla’s office confirmed that she would attend tomorrow night’s royal premiere of Gladiator II. Now that’s off the table too.
Queen Camilla has had to withdraw from the highly anticipated royal premiere of Gladiator II scheduled for Wednesday. HELLO! understands that Her Majesty’s absence is due to health reasons.
This carefully considered decision has come as a surprise to many, as Queen Camilla is known for her steadfast attendance at public events and rarely misses such occasions without significant cause.
A royal source said that the Queen will, however, return to public duties on Tuesday following her chest infection but will miss the royal premiere to aid her recovery.
[From Hello]
It seems possible that Buckingham Palace thought it would look bad for Camilla to skip all of the Remembrance events but still make time for a movie premiere. And I agree, it would look bad, even though I understand how these things are scheduled. It’s also possible that Camilla is genuinely sick and she’s not over her chest infection yet. I wonder if this will be cited next year, when it comes time for Charles and Camilla to travel again.
A few more scheduling updates from the palace… Camilla and Charles will attend the Royal Variety performance on November 22. Every year, a royal couple is sent to the fundraiser. In 2022, Sophie and Edward were sent and it was a disaster. So Charles and Camilla will just do it on their own this year. And Charles’s 76th birthday is on Thursday, and the palace announced that Slumlord Chuck will spend the day at a “surplus food festival” at a newly opened food bank. Someone thought the optics of this would be good for Charles, but doesn’t it call attention to the fact that he sits on a vast fortune, some of which comes from profiteering from public services?

Seems like it could be RSV, which is serious in older people.
Or macrolide-resistant mycoplasma pneumonia, which is rampant in the UK.
Or Covid again — which is also rampant in the UK.
She’s elderly, her husband has cancer, and yet neither of them take any covid precautions when they mix with crowds.
They could do so much good if they would just model a few covid mitigations – masking, meeting outside, talking about clean air. But instead they keep putting themselves at risk.
I think they’re just going to carry on as usual and pretend dispatches never happened.
This lot really DGAF and are just grifting it till the end.
Great photo choice Kaiser, as always! I love that her smile in that top photo looks exactly like The Grinch.
Not the Gladiator II premiere!!!! Yes it would look bad not attending institution functions but seeing a movie premiere. Well she wanted that fu**I g crown and now she must live with it lol.
Apparently she’s still on to attend to some Booker prize reception this evening. It doesn’t make sense but the palace says she’s going to make a short appearance.
Queen Elizabeth did multiple events without Philip as he got older. He generally went with her on her tours and visits from what I can see, but she would sometimes go on her own (Germany in 1990 for eg). My point being is Charles now going to say he can’t travel because he needs her to hold his hand and can’t go without her? I mean, his illness is reason enough to stop traveling, but two things can be true at the same time and I can just see him pouting “I’m not going if she’s not going!”
She may be over the chest infection but not the cough. Sitting through a film while trying to suppress a cough is annoying to everyone around you. I’d cancel as well.
Do you think she’d be polite enough not to just cough? I don’t.
Are you for real???? Don’t cough.
Waiting to see the turnout for her funeral procession.
At my age, we all gotta live for something.
Also waiting to see! LOL
There is a TikTok out about the news that Cowmilla is sick, and shows Diana at the pearly gates laughing and dancing and saying “I’ve been waiting for this!” 😂
I think her funeral will be a lot like Philip’s.
With any luck William will show up at the Gladiator II premiere wearing roman sandals and will make a big deal of showing them off to everybody like he did with his moccasins at the Top Gun II premiere. Fingers crossed.
Whatever bottle of wine or gin she fell into after she got home must have been deep…
