Donna Kelce on whether Taylor Swift will be at Thanksgiving: ‘she’s kinda busy right now’

Donna Kelce has become a frequent flier on NBC’s Today show. Her most recent appearance was on Thursday morning when she did their cooking segment, Today Food, to make her go-to Thanksgiving recipe, Mama Kelce’s Crescent Rolls. The recipe is actually called “Crescent Rolls Magic Marshmallow Puffs,” and it was apparently a winner of Pillsbury’s 1969 Bake-off Contest. It does look delicious and very Thanksgiving-y. Basically, you slather a marshmallow with melted butter and cinnamon sugar, wrap it up in a crescent roll, and bake it for 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees.

As the segment is wrapping up, host Craig Melvin asks Donna about her own Thanksgiving plans with her family. She responds by saying that they’ve got nothing planned because they’re all going to be watching Travis’ football game on the day after Thanksgiving. Craig then presses on, asking whether Taylor Swift would be joining them. Donna, who wore a The Tortured Poet’s Department charm bracelet during the segment, said she didn’t think so because Taylor is “kinda busy” with the final dates of the Eras Tour.

Travis Kelce’s mom, Donna Kelce, addressed whether her son’s pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift, will join their family on Thanksgiving. During an appearance on the “Today” show Thursday, the mom of two shared her plans for the upcoming holiday.

“I am going to be at a football game. Travis is playing the day after Thanksgiving. You know, football is always the holidays. It’s football’s family,” she said.

When asked whether the Kelces were planning a “big dinner,” Donna, 72, replied, “Not that anything’s planned. I think we’re just going to be at the football game.”

The Glamour Woman of the Year, who has become close to Travis’ famous girlfriend since they went public with their relationship in September 2023, added that she did not think Swift, 34, would join her family because “she’s kinda busy right now.”

“She has her tour to do,” Donna told the “Today” show hosts, referring to the “Bad Blood” singer’s Eras Tour, which is set to kick off its Canadian leg Thursday.

Travis, 35, and his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, are set to go up against the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 29 in Kansas City, Mo. It is unclear whether Swift will be present at her beau’s game; however, she does have a 13-day break in between shows in Toronto and Vancouver during that time.

Donna had to have known that the question about Taylor was going to come up. Given that Mama Kelce has spoken out in the past about how the family’s newfound mega fame has made it difficult for them to have dinner or go see a movie unless they “rent out” the theater or restaurant, I think she gave the best answer she could. Plus, Taylor is busy. The Eras Tour’s last dates are throughout Canada, between November 14 and December 8. TnT didn’t spend Thanksgiving together last year either because Taylor was in South America for the tour. That said, it wouldn’t surprise me if she turned up at Travis’ game that weekend anyway. It’s a home game, so she’ll have security and Taylor’s parents and brother have been at several home games recently, as well. I could see a big ole blended family Thanksgiving dinner, even post-game.

The clip of Donna’s cooking segment is below if you want to watch it. The funniest part of the entire thing is when Craig asked Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, and Carson Daly their thoughts on the rolls (each had two rolls in front of them). Hoda’s licking her lips while Savannah and Carson just looked so confused as to why they’d be expected to eat them. The finally chime in to ask why the marshmallows have disappeared. I’ve watched that part like three times because it cracked me up.

I used to make those rolls before I had to start watching carbs and sugar. They’re so good!

  2. Ariel says:

I love how the kelce’s are enjoying and harnessing the boost in their personas due to their proximity to Taylor swift – but they’re not tacky or gross about it at all.
And they speak about her in protective, vague terms.
Perhaps both families will be in kc Thursday – or Friday night/Saturday post game – and Donna knows
But she also knows Taylor’s whereabouts have both major public interest and security concerns.

I love a cheesy holiday romance movie – and assuming hers are streaming on hallmark (I’ve heard not all their movies that played live on tv also stream)
I will totally watch the 2 with her cameos.

  3. NotTheOne says:

OMG. I love those things. I didn’t think anyone else still made them. My mom was a huge Pillsbury Bake-Off fan and made all their horribly decadent deserts. Now I’m gonna have to buy Pillsbury Crescent rolls and make them.

  4. Pat Gaddess says:

Jason said on the podcast that they were all having Thanksgiving at Travis’s house. Now that they have at 24 hour armed security guard it will be safe for Taylor. I am sure they will all be there for Thanksgiving but with the arrival of Taylor they no longer stay at his house they stay at a hotel. Travis has called it Taylor’s house.

It seems like their lives have all been upended by the Swiftverse, which has been a boon to Jason, but maybe a hardship to the parents? They seem to adore here, though. I have to wonder what it will be like if Tay isn’t a long term member of their family. Like, if she’s basically a Kelce now, it’s great that they’re all so supportive of each other, but it feel like there could be collateral damage if the spotlight moves on.

  5. Flamingo says:

I love the synergy between the families. She knows to be cagey out of respect to Taylor and her security.

Then Jason goes and blasts the tea. It’s like Fred Flintstone came to life one day and became Jason Kelce.
