I genuinely think Billy Bob Thornton is one of the most underrated actors out there. He’s made some real flops, no doubt, but when he gets his hands on an okay-to-good script, he’s amazing. Billy Bob is currently promoting his new Paramount+ series Landman. It was co-created by Christian Wallace and Taylor Sheridan, and it’s based on Wallace’s Boomtown podcast, about the Texas oil industry. Billy Bob plays a “fixer” for Texas’s big oil companies. The reviews are good (from what I’ve seen) and Billy Bob thinks that this is a show with some longevity. Billy has been out hustling for the show in recent days (alongside his very oddly dyed goatee), and he stopped by Drew Barrymore’s show, where he admitted something amazing.
The secret to Billy Bob Thornton’s cool style is a pair of nice-fitting women’s jeans.
In a new interview on The Drew Barrymore Show which aired on Nov. 19, the Oscar winner, 69, said that he likes to wear a slimmer fit when it comes to his pants — and for him, that means shopping in the women’s department.
“The reason I don’t like to wear men’s jeans is because they’re all too baggy. I’ve got bird legs and it just feels like I’m in a tent. I like a nice fit and they fit great with boots,” said the Landman star.
The dad of four also happened to be wearing a pair of women’s black Levis’ jeans, disclosing that he wears a size 6.
“Size 6? I couldn’t get my right butt cheek in those,” joked Drew Barrymore.
I find this charming. Billy has always liked clothes – Angelina Jolie said, when they were married, that his closet was bigger than hers – and yes, I can imagine that he does like the fit of women’s jeans. Women’s jeans are overwhelmingly made with Billy’s narrow proportions in mind. That being said, I like what’s happening in the denim culture these days. It used to be that slim-fit jeans and jeggings were basically the only thing on offer. Nowadays, I don’t even think there’s one major denim fit/style which is dominant culturally. I’m seeing some baggy, ‘90s-looking light washes out here and I love it.

Meh, I’m female and prefer the cut of men’s jeans and slacks. Also shoes at a women’s size 8 1/2, I have a hard time finding a wide width, so I buy men’s, especially tennis shoes and hiking boots.
What is it with men and their tiny butts. Even when my husband was at his heaviest he had a tiny behind.
The Hank Hill special
PunkyDaddy and I saw Billy Bob perform with his band, The Boxmasters this past September. It was a very small venue, maybe 200 people. It’s difficult to put into words how charismatic he his— he’s very open about his philosophy and comes across as authentic.
He’s lean but not skinny, looks very healthy. Nothing sags on him, which I found amazing for anyone his age.
My son (my fashion barometer, he’s 13) is all about the light wash, ripped, loose fit with a v-neck tee and plenty of accessories (bracelet, necklaces, etc). That’s his go-to “girl attention” fit.
Light wash may be back but you’ll pry my dark wash loose fit out of my cold dead hands 🙂
This is so sweet and endearing. My 13 year old (girl) is all about the parachute pants in funky colors (highlighter yellow, dark green but with a shine to it) with chucks, and she likes her hair “a little fluffy”.
I love BBT but would not have recognised him here, he can lay off the just for men beard stuff.
I’m sure we’ve heard from other guys about preferring the cut of women’s jeans. Oh and weren’t the ‘legs’ of some famous tights brand a guys legs for years? Or was that an urban myth?
Yeah he looks good but I feel he can get away with embracing the gray. Him and affleck both have that very specific brown-colored beard .
He has always seemed to give off a vibe that he is uncomfortable with some aspects of aging. I am not a fan of the Johnny Depp / Pick up artist look, but if he is happy, good for him.
If you gave me 100 guesses of who this was, Billy Bob Thornton wouldn’t have been close to making the list. He looks more like Richard Branson than anyone.
That does not look like Billy Bob Thornton.
How does he have room for his “junk” in those tiny jeans?
This made me think of Michael Scott unknowingly wearing a woman’s suit on The Office in one episode. Also, didn’t Will Truman take some flack for wearing women’s jeans on Will and Grace (one of my all time fav shows)?
Maybe he’s a grower not a shower.
@olliesmom,
Men have been fitting their junk into tight pants for ages now, lol. Just look at any old photo of guys in Levis 501 shrink to fits in the 70’s and 80’s. lol
What’s Billy Bob’s deal? Back when he was with AJ the narrative was that the two of them were these giant weirdos (the whole blood vial thing was SUCH a big talking point back then) and I remember a lot of insinuations about him being jealous of Maddox and that that was one of the main reasons they split. Seemed like once their marriage ended he kind of faded from the public consciousness while Angie’s evolution into someone a lot more down to earth was very much talked about. Anytime I saw him talked about after that always seemed to be because of some outburst he had.
Is Billy overall a decent guy but kinda short-tempered and a crappy spouse?
I won’t be watching this because I have zero interest in anything Texas related right now, but God do I love me some Billy Bob. He was so great in Goliath!
There is just something about him – he is very charismatic and just has that “it” factor.
i love wearing my sons jeans. levis 501’s …i wore boyfriend jeans in 1988
Oh, man, that’s what I wore in my 20s. In my 40s, not so much. I’m jealous of Billy Bob.
My ex wears women’s American eagle jeans. He says they fit him better. He prefers tighter jeans. His junk is average sized. He is also fairly skinny and tall(5’11” 160 lbs)
