The Sussexes released their 2024 Christmas card, featuring Lili, Archie & the dogs

I always love when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex release their Christmas card before Harry’s brother. It always emphasizes how Meghan and Harry are doing things on their own terms and their own schedule, and they’re not waiting to see what the left-behind Windsors are doing. To be fair, King Charles and Camilla already released their card last week (people barely paid attention).

So, this year’s card is a lovely grouping of six photos. Five of the photos are from Harry and Meghan’s trips to Nigeria and Colombia this year, and one of the photos is a personal one from their home in Montecito. You can see the backs of Archie and Lili’s heads as they run into their parents’ arms. The three dogs are there too – Guy Markle, Pula Sussex (Mountbatten-Windsor??) and Mamma Mia Sussex. I’m not well-versed in beagles enough to know which one is Guy and which one is Mia, but I think Guy is probably the one closest to mom. As in, Guy got there before Archie!!

Obviously, people are really excited by any glimpse we get of the kids (and the dogs). Lili’s hair is so long! And Archie is still so gingery. I felt like Archie’s hair would start getting darker as he got older, but his hair is still really red. Lili will probably be more of a strawberry blonde as she gets older. These kids really got Prince Harry’s genes, and by that I mean… the Spencer genes. Imagine Kate, Charles, William and Camilla crashing out so massively at the thought of dark-skinned babies and Meghan gives birth to two pale little gingers.

  1. Eurydice says:

A beautiful card. Seems like the kids have inherited Harry’s height, too – Lili looks almost as tall as Archie.

    • Gretchen says:

Actually it’s just the angle. She’s closer to the camera as she’s running towards Harry who’s closer to the camera. Archie is just bending his knees so I think there is still a big height difference between them.

      • Kim says:

You’re the first person to make this perfect assessment. Also, people forget Princess Lili’s paternal grandmother was 5’10”; we should expect her to be tall,

      • Yvette says:

@Gretchen … Yes, and there is also a slight dip in the road?/walkway? Archie is ahead of Lili and has reached the dip, making him appear shorter than his legs suggest.

    • BothSidesNow says:

@ Eurydice, yes!! It makes my soul smile that is wrapped with a tender 💗 warmth to see them all living happily together!!!

I am immensely happy for them as they deserve to be happy and free to live the lives that they want and deserve💗💗

    • MoonTheLoon says:

Those Spencer genes, man. It’s clear these two kids got most of those genes and will definitely be the kind of kids the royals would have wanted. If only they’d been non-racist and patient enough to chill the F out with the speculation. Imbeciles. LOL

  2. Alice says:

I’m not gonna lie. I am surprised they’re dressing Lili up in clothes like this. I fully expected them to dress her up in jeans and girly t shirts which they probably still do but I didn’t expect them to dress her up in knee high socks and Mary John’s all the handful times we’ve seen her. I would love to see her in a cute little red dress.

    • Margaret says:

The preppy look is very in right now. Lots of Gen z kids love the knee high sock look, it’s definitely back in fashion. I think Lili looks cute.

    • somebody says:

Maybe those are her preferences. I had a niece who dressed similarly when young. She now wears only pants, but insisted on dresses when she was around this age.

    • Jais says:

There’s also quite a few pics of Meghan as a kid in dresses so Doria dressed her up some too. I’m gonna guess sometimes she’s in dresses and knee socks and sometimes she’s not.

    • Becks1 says:

My take on it is that this is from a family photoshoot – Archie looks a little dressed up as well, Harry seems to coordinate with him (maybe with Lili too but its hard to tell) – so it made me think they were having a professional family shoot and either there were multiple photographers and this one got the shot from behind of the kids running to the parents (a go-to around here for family photography sessions) or the photog just happened to be standing there are at some point in the session.

      • Libra says:

A family photo shoot makes sense. The Archewell card was a business Happy Holidays card for all the people and businesses , some of whom do not celebrate Christmas. A separate “mom, dad and kids” photo to wish their nearest and dearest a Merry Christmas seems likely. Children appear to be dressed for picture day.

    • Noheredity says:

The UK press as always needs to comment on The Sussex’s. The card even made Breakfast TV this morning .

      • kirk says:

My guess is that few to none of the UK press actually received the Sussex holiday card and had to crib it from other sites. Meanwhile other news orgs, like GMA and Harper’s, that have worked with Sussexes received the card directly from them. NBC’s Today includes footage of Harry talking with Hoda Kotb at Invictus and says the card was “sent to TODAY.com by The Archewell Foundation.”

    • Friendly Crow says:

I’m sure that they have a wide variety of clothes for Lili – all of them things that she is comfortable in. Most millennials aren’t fussed about their kids wearing fancy uptight clothes. They want their kids to be confident and comfortable in their clothes and to express themselves. Seems like the Sussex vibe.

    • L4Frimaire says:

It’s a fairly simple dress and not that big a deal. Lili is only 3. My kids insisted on only wearing dresses at that age until about 2nd grade.

      • Elizabeth K. Mahon says:

I was the same way. My mother told me I hated it when she dressed me in pants when I was little. It wasn’t until I was older that I wanted to wear jeans.

    • Teddy says:

My daughter is about the same the and she loves to pick out her own clothes. Not always coherent outfits but always her own style vision. 🙂

      • Lucky Charm says:

After seeing my little sisters, cousins, and all the kids I’d babysat over the years dress themselves, before my oldest was born I decided that all their clothes were going to coordinate. No matter which top, bottom or shoes they wore, everything would go together. I thought it was a great plan. However, I did NOT factor in that other people would also buy the kids clothes. Some of her choices at three were, well, a choice, lol! But at least she always let me do her hair!

    • Advisor2u says:

Why the critisism of how a child is dressed? Do you know anything about the occasion or circumstances?

Maybe the kids just came home from school, or their parents had picked them up from a party or a formal activity after a long trip from home?

Anyway, Princess Diana used to wear knee-long stockings as a child. Maybe Lili is inspired by her granny? It’s the second time she’s been photographed in white long stocking (first time at a 4th of July parade in Santa Barbara, at about age 2).

      • winterwisp says:

I think they’re more inspired by Charlotte than anything, considering we’ve seen Charlotte in this exact outfit numerous times.

      • Becks1 says:

i think Lili looks cute, but lets not pretend we haven’t spent the past decade criticizing how Kate dresses her kids.

      • Shanta says:

@Winterwist……..Charlotte? As in Willie and Kate’s kid Charlotte? How sway? Those kids don’t even know each other? I’m more than certain that Harry and Meghan aren’t checking the tabs to see what Charlotte is wearing🙄. We’ve seen Lilli dressed like this before……in the pap snap when they attended a local parade.

      • HeatherC says:

My niece is turning 4. I have a ton of pictures of her in dresses and knee socks for formal pictures (other than the corny matching Xmas pajamas) and candid pics of her covered in mud, hair all over, wearing shorts, sneakers, a bathing suit….this is a coordinated not candid pic. I wouldn’t assume anything about her daily habits and likes.

      • Lawrenceville says:

Oh, please folks, leave the kids the heck alone. This is the USA, land of the free. The Sussex children can dress any way they like. And the Sussexes don’t have any ouija boards for the Wales children so they can dress Archie and/or Lili like the Wales kids, quit with that! And I don’t get, Kate was criticized for having her daughter wear knee high stockings? I never seen that. She has been criticized for dressing her SONS up like Diana dressed her boys. Thats what I’ve seen. I have never seen her being criticized for any Charlotte stockings but maybe I don’t read her threads that often.

      • winterwisp says:

        @shanta

I mean, I’ve seen people accusing Kate of copying Meghan because she wore a beige coat. I don’t think anyone’s copying anyone ftr, but if this was reversed and Charlotte was dressed similarly to Lili people would be frothing over how Kate is copying.

      • Becks1 says:

@Lawrenceville we’ve definitely criticized Kate for how she dresses all her kids – why is Charlotte always in a dress, why does she dress her like she’s a child in the 50s, etc.

I think Lili looks cute and Charlotte usually looks cute, but lets not act like there is never any criticism on here of how the children are dressed – specifically responding to this comment – “Why the criticism of how a child is dressed? Do you know anything about the occasion or circumstances?”

      • Dee says:

In most of Charlotte’s pics at this age, she was wearing tights or ankle socks. If we’re going to claim that wearing a dress and Mary Janes is inspired by Charlotte, then I guess I was the inspiration from decades ago when I, too, wore dresses and Mary Janes as well as tights and socks of varying heights.

When Kate is accused of copying Meghan, it’s usually the same designer, same color, same shoe, etc. or a very quick shift in style (purse with handles as opposed to the clutches Kate carried for ages). Kate puts her kids in William’s and sometimes Harry’s baby and kid clothes as well as making her kids all go matchy matchy with blue usually.

      • Julie says:

Hello winterwisp. The dress is fairly standard for a 3 year old little girl. Maybe there is a coincidence where Charlotte have something similar. However, there is no need to compare two children living an ocean apart.

      • Becks1 says:

Am I the only one who thought @winterwisp was being a little sarcastic, since they were responding to the idea that Lili’s outfit was inspired by Diana as a little girl??

Re: Kate copying Meghan – I think a lot of the times its a valid complaint, but there are some times when its not, but because people are newer to the royal scene, they don’t realize it. Like I’ve seen people claim K is copying M because she wore Manolos which she never did before Meghan (um, yes she did.) Or that she carried a handbag with a handle which she never used to do (yes she did) and so on.

      • Nerd says:

You’ve seen comment of people accusing Kate of copying Meghan because SHE HAS ACTUALLY COPIED MEGHAN, not just with beige coats which she rarely wore before but with full on outfits, colors, accessories, jewelry and shoes that she had never worn before. It’s not as if any criticism Kate received for copying Meghan was unfounded, it’s because she did absolutely copy Meghan even down to the messy bun, which Kate had never worn before and the pants suits. She even did a Melania and copied the entire font and colors for a project the same way Melania did Michelle Obama. The only criticism Kate gets regarding Charlotte was that she always dressed her in the exact same little girl clothes year after year after year as if she was still 4. Mothers tend to dress their daughters in similar clothes as them, especially when they are really young and Meghan was dressed in long socks like this as a little girl by her mom Doria.

      • Hypocrisy says:

Lili is three and she is dressed exactly like the girls in my grandsons preschool in Chicago.. nothing about her look is Charlotte or anyone else. Some adults here are ridiculous about a child’s outfit. (FYI I dressed exactly like that as a child also.. In Germany and the states and I’m almost 60 it’s been around for awhile and is not owned by the Brit’s)

      • Jais says:

So yeah, @nerd, agree that there was way more copying than just a beige coat that happened. Kate earned that copy-keeping title sooo many times. But also as someone who didn’t pay attention prior to Meghan there have been times where I was like when did Kate wear those shoes before??? And she actually had worn them before as becks1 said. I think Kate truly took the copying to such a bizarre level that yeah we’re hyper-vigilant. And yeah, there are always a lot of comments about how Kate dresses her kids. In this case, though, the dress and socks are pretty much a classic. I wore something similar. My sister did. My nieces did. So I do think in this case it’s a stretch. There’s a lot of Kate fans out there who like to take something that Kate did, copy clothes or create frankenphotos and apply it to Meghan bc they want to create some sort of both sides situation.

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ Jais, yes!! Absolutely!! There were days in which we would see Meghan in elevated pantsuit will wide legs, longer length, hair styled across on shoulder with a beautifully tailored look with delicate jewelry along with a smallish handbag. Only for Keen to emerge not TWO days later looking exactly like Meghan, except she completely fumbles it disastrously as she simply tried TOO hard to have the same, polished and chic look.

Poor Kate’s mood board has most likely shorted out from the constant volatility and abuse……bless her poor little heart!

      • Sarah is says:

Well looking at the pictures which are up on several sites because it’s the holiday season. Charlotte was in tights or ankle socks so clearly you’re just making something up. If there was criticism of the way Charlotte dressed by some it was because she was still wearing those short dresses with the ankle socks. Princess Margaret daughter Sarah Chatto and her cousin Helen Windsor the Duke of Kent’s daughter wore them. Fergie didn’t dress Beatrice and Eugenie in them often. This dress is much longer than the ones Charlotte wore, but I thought hers were okay. And normal sleeves too. It looks nothing like those dresses.

      • Nic919 says:

I don’t think Charlotte ever had specific stuff criticized so much as Kate dresses the kids very old fashioned and on one trooping it looked like they were wearing outfits from Germany 1930s.

I don’t think Charlotte owns the market on little girl dresses so I don’t see how Lili is copying how Kate dressed Charlotte simply by wearing a dress.

      • Sarah says:

As someone that followed WKW,OOS, and TCJ but became grossed out by all the bigotry and stopped if Kate doesn’t have a moodboard it must be a scrapbook.

    • Sass says:

Agree with others, it’s a holiday card and it’s pretty common to dress up for family photos/holiday card photos. My own kids are teenagers and they still dress nicely for holiday card photos. I honestly didn’t even look that closely because it just looks like a classic little girl look. I was more focused on how long and beautiful her hair is!

I used to do a lot of family photography and every family dressed up for photos. Even if jeans were involved they were always a clean styled look.

    • Kay says:

Speak for your self. How the Sussex’s dress their children is their business. Too many people still want them to act like someone else. The children look fine.

    • Meredith says:

I had the same thought— I have not seen anyone of any age wearing knee socks since about 1989.

      • Magdalena says:

There are photographs of Meghan dressed very similarly to Lili when she was a child. I’d hazard a guess that Meghan is dressing her daughter the way she was dressed by Doria. So Lili wears dresses and shorts and trousers just like any other normal child – including knee high socks.

      • Jais says:

Yeah, @magdalena. There are pics of Meghan wearing pants as a kid but also pics of her wearing really girly dresses with socks. Like a lot of kids.

  3. Carmen says:

Lili looks like a redhead to me. Her head is in shadow so the full color doesn’t come out in the photo. The sun is hitting full on Archie’s hair and you can see his hair is a vibrant dark red.

    • Haley says:

There’s different types of red hair and Lilis is more on the lighter blonder side. Archie’s is more on the auburn side which is why he looks like a brown haired child in low lighting.

Lilis got her dad’s hair color and Archie’s got another thing, probably a mixture of Harry and Meghans hair tones. I think his hair will definitely become darker as he gets older.

  4. Amy Bee says:

What a nice surprise. I have a lot of respect for the way Harry and Meghan protect their children.

    • Christine says:

Same, I am perfectly happy never to see their faces until they are 18 and decide they want to show them for themselves. This is a lovely picture that shows a very happy family. Harry’s face is the best part, girl dad indeed.

  5. Polo says:

I love how their pics always exude love. Harry’s face in this is awesome!!! lol!
You can tell Harry really loves kids and now he has his own.
They’ve both mentioned how much they love love being parents.
So glad the Sussex kids get to live their life in peace.

  6. s808 says:

They done a great job of sharing glimpses of their kids while maintaining their privacy. We also only see them once every few years (officially at least). It’ll be hard to pick them out of a lineup and that’s the point. I’m sure they’ll be very thankful to their parents when they get older.

    • Julia says:

I agree. I personally applaud any parent who chooses not to share pictures of their kids online, whether they are famous or not. There are so many unsavoury characters on the internet i totally understand wanting to protect your kids’ privacy.

    • Becks1 says:

Yup, I think they’re walking the line really well. I wonder how Meghan would be as a celeb-parent if she married someone who wasn’t Prince Harry – like if she would share more pictures of her kids – or if this would be her go-to regardless. I respect the celebs in general who can walk that line – like Sarah Michelle Gellar – she never shows her pictures of her kids that I can recall. Maybe once in a great while – but she covers their faces typically. And Jen Garner rarely (if ever) shows pictures of her kids on her social media but of course they get papped.

      • s808 says:

Based on her pre-harry social media activity, I’d think she’d be more open while still protecting their privacy, like Mindy Kaling does imo.

      • MY3CENTS says:

Well if she wasn’t with Harry she probably wouldn’t be getting death threats and all the media vitriol, so its possible she would be more open to sharing her children’s pics.
Great card, they all look very adorable.

  7. Jais says:

Aw I’m loving all three of the dogs being there. It looks like a sweet reunion pic. The kids so excited to see mom and dad. Lots of joy and energy.

  8. Becks1 says:

I love this one. I feel like the pictures were chosen very deliberately – three of H&M looking loved up and happy, one of meghan on her own with a child, one of Harry on his own at a military hospital (I think?) and then the family picture.

I love the family picture because I think it perfectly walks the line between showing the Sussexes as a family unit without showing the kids’ faces (while also not making it super obvious they’re trying to hide the faces, you know?)

I feel like the overall message is spread love and happiness like we try to do – from our family to different people in different countries. Just love.

    • sunny says:

Absolutely! I like how the pictures showing love, joy, compassion, and laughter. Good energy for this season.

    • Nic919 says:

I think it’s a good photo too, especially in keeping some privacy for the kids. You can tell it’s effective here because on social media the derangers are doing photo analysis and just looking generally disturbing.

  9. Anonymous says:

Love love love the Sussex family ❤️❤️❤️❤️may they always be protected and happy and successful 💓🙏

Apart from the redhead genes, Lili Di is the only only Diana grandchild with her blue eyes. No wonder the derangers mad.

  10. Noor says:

Awww.. the Sussexes and their kids !!!. They really know how to awe and shock, and sock it to their never ending critics .
Happy Holidays. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year!!!

  11. Interested Gawker says:

    So cute!!!🥰

    • inge says:

Can you imagine how much they would have been compared to their cousins back in the UK.

Wouldnt he surprised if Archie was used as a scapesgoat for Louis’s antics.

So glad and they and their(probably jealousy inducing) spencer hair are safe in Montecito

      • sunnyside up says:

The red goes back to the Plantagenets, Harry, Meghan, William and Kate are all descended from Edward III according to an article I read.

  12. Osty says:

Wank fans moaning that this photo should be scrutinised and hopefully get a kill notice too cos something something. They believe everyone is as untrustworthy, fake like their leaders in that Palace

    • Becks1 says:

      Seriously??

I think the Mothers Day Frankenphoto is a good example of how the british press covers for the Waleses. By all accounts the press should have been FURIOUS – they were given a heavily doctored photo that they passed off as authentic and then got shot down on the world stage. But instead they went with the narrative that there had been some “minor photoshopping” or whatever when the point was the picture was pretty much completely fake. Maybe the kids stood around their mom for a photo, but that’s pretty much the only thing that “might” have been authentic about it.

      • Osty says:

Apparently because the meisnt scrutinising this photo they are claiming it means the media holds wank to a higher standard than H & M or maybe the media cares more about wank than them . I just lol at their lies and obvious projection and moved on cos there was no use to argue with that

      • Nic919 says:

Their Christmas photo last year had some photoshopping issues too. It wasn’t the faces but it looked like there were weirdly placed feet. This photo is clearly distorted for the sake of not showing too much of the kids. And nothing was done about the Christmas family photo either.

The frankenphoto just had that many issues with it that they had to put a kill notice, specifically because the image of Kate they tried to present was not her at all.

    • Interested Gawker says:

      😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂…

      Takes a breath,

      😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • Blujfly says:

The media doesn’t do kill notices or otherwise interfere with publicly released photos that aren’t distributed through the media itself. The Kate Frakenphoto was issued to the media to distribute as an official, newsworthy photo. The derangers just can’t be bothered to care about the difference.

      • Jais says:

Thank u. Bc I was confused by this. This wasn’t distributed through photo agencies like AP or Reuters.

      • Christine says:

Yeah, the mother’s day photo was specifically released as some kind of proof of life through news agencies. This is just a holiday card.

      • Nic919 says:

Let’s not forget that frankenphoto happened because Carole had released that photo of her and Kate in the car and the UK media was not allowed to print it.

William “took” the frankenphoto to give them an official photo to distract from the Carole Middleton one.

  13. Sunnylf7 says:

The karma really is so sweet for them – that the Windsors showed their racism and drove them away and now the kids are probably Harry and Diana lookalikes. They just wish they had access to them now!!

    • HeatherC says:

I’m always LOL’ing at the whole to-do with the Windsors, OMG how DARK will the children be? What will they LOOK like? Oh nos, the royal blood…what about the balcony?

And out come 2 aggressively ginger children.

    • kelly says:

It didn’t drive them away though. Harry told Oprah that the conversation happened before he and Meghan even married. She still married him, and Charles joyfully walked her down the aisle. Years later right after the Oprah interview Charles wrote Meghan, and the two agreed the comment was innocuous. When that was that story was leaked to the Telegraph right before the coronation, Megan’s spokesperson said she has moved on. It never drove them away, because they still got married and still worked as senior royals for a bit. They had other reasons to quit and move. Notice how in neither Spare nor the H&M Netflix series was it ever brought up again?

And Lady D, “nappy” is British for baby diaper

      • BQM says:

I think there’s often a lot of overreacting and over parsing here but the media knew just what they were doing with that comment. There’s never been a similar nappy comment with the Wales kids.

      • Jais says:

Agree @BQM, I’m very aware that a nappy is a diaper but I’m also very aware that it has another meaning. And not for a second would I ever believe that the DM writer was not aware of that. It was a nasty racist dog whistle.

      • kelly says:

I googled “nappy british media royal family” and first article to come up: Royals in Nappies from 2013 https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2013/07/10/198487795/Royals-In-Nappies-A-Family-Album

But to my original point, whatever “unconscious bias” comment was made, Harry said in his own words that it was made before H&M got married. So whatever it was, it didn’t drive them away.

      • Bings says:

@ Kelly, Yes, it is a term for a baby’s diaper just as it is a negative term for the quality of a black person’s hair. Why does the Dail Mail write headlines that can have a negative interpretation for a mixed child? Do you really not see the issue with it?

Have they ever wished George, Charlotte, Louis or any other royal child a Nappy New Year? Come now.

      • kelly says:

@Bings I googled it, and I can’t find any Dail Mail headline that uses “nappy” for any royal children. I did find this from the Mirror, but it’s about a white man https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/nappy-new-year-444693
        I also found this about a non-Black child https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/nappy-new-year-for-baby-jessica-396559 this too https://www.magzter.com/stories/newspaper/Daily-Mirror-UK/NAPPY-NEW-YEAR-FOR-THE-SOAP-STARS?srsltid=AfmBOorgbc7y7xcIjlRb_KgUHxRaoYYxLKCuzLs1v6bOaaX-ahXozkdV
        and this https://www.pressreader.com/uk/scottish-daily-mail/20171230/281857233914109?srsltid=AfmBOooin_YTmYX0e2hI2g5tnp3zYU2YZlhrPvFlO71sAPWeUUENlCDm
and number one in the search: “Royals in Nappies” from 2013 (no Sussexes) https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2013/07/10/198487795/Royals-In-Nappies-A-Family-Album

The supposed Daily Mail headline seems to be just a rumor coming from a 2022 Celebitchy comment.

Anyway, this is not the main point that I was making: whatever “unconscious bias” comment was made, Harry said in his own words that it was made before H&M got married. So whatever it was, it didn’t drive them away.

      • Sarah says:

No article has ever been removed? Didn’t someone just post an article about the British press with a link that mentioned several articles now removed and I’ve clicked on some archived articles on this site and others.

      • somebody says:

@Kelly It wasn’t a comment on Celebitchy. It was an article based on a Sun racist headline. https://www.celebitchy.com/694886/the_sun_ran_a_racist_front_page_headline_about_the_duchess_of_sussex_archie/

      • kirk says:

@kelly – wow are you trippin’!
“Years later right after the Oprah interview Charles wrote Meghan, and the two agreed the comment was innocuous.”
        You are totally trippin’!
        Agreed? Innocuous? Nuts!
Meghan, when asked, only said no comment about 2-year old communication based on 4-year old circumstances.
Chuck was the ghoul who leaked news of said letter(s).

      • kelly says:

@somebody ahh, it was the Sun then! I was searching for the Mail and Mirror as the other commenters said it was from. Irregardless, as you can see in my last comment, “nappy new year” is a common phrase in Brit culture and I found at least 5 headlines where it was exclusively talking about white babies (or a white footballer being a baby). In the UK it means diaper. Nappy as a negative term for hair is an American term. Just like “fanny” means the same as “bum” or “butt” in America, but in the UK it’s slang for vulva! So you can imagine our confusion when we hear “fanny pack” (we call it “bum bag”). There are so many misunderstandings regarding UK vs US slang!

      • Nic919 says:

Was using the term “niggling” in reference to Meghan also one of those UK misunderstandings?

Because the internet exists and there is no way we can pretend the double meanings aren’t known and used for that exact reason to gaslight and pretend they didn’t mean the racist version.

      • Jais says:

The Nappy New Year headline in regards to Archie was made after Sussexit though. So it didn’t really have to do with unconscious bias in the RF at that point or whether Meghan decided to marry in, which she did bc she loved Harry regardless of his family and their biases. It had to do with racist game playing within the British tabs, specifically the SuN. It has two meanings. And any writer worth their salt writing about a woman of mixed-races’s baby would have known this. THEY KNEW. I’m not trying to be a jerk but if you don’t see this headline as a racist act of aggression then I don’t know what to tell you. I get that it’s been used as a phrase with one meaning in the uk. But a writer used it about a mixed-race baby when a writer is responsible for knowing the the different ways a phrase can be interpreted especially when the fans of an American are known readers. If the writer incompetently wrote a headline that would be seen around the world and known by many people around the world as a negative and ignorant and racist connotation pertaining to hair then there should have been a statement of apology. Otherwise it’s an act of racism. But let’s be real. The writer was aware and knew. That’s the point. I can tell you as an American from the south my heart stopped when I saw that headline. I couldn’t believe they wrote that. And it’s not cultural Differences. Being from the south, I recognize dog whistles and that writer knew what they were doing. Sorry but that headline has always bothered me and I hate to read it being excused as some cutesy honest mistake.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Thank you @kirk. I’m not familiar with anyone saying it was an ‘innocuous’ comment. Remember it being mentioned they should talk to the Wank’s about it.

Seems like some hard work is happening to change the narrative. The BM headlines have definitely been racist regarding Meghan and Sussex children. There’s a reason 72? members of parliament defended her.

I’ve known for years (before Meghan) that nappy was a diaper in UK slang. I’ve known for years what nappy meant in US slang. As if, Brit urinalists, didn’t know. Please. Harry’s ‘unconscious bias’ comment had nothing to do with the UK tabloid media. He was giving grace to the BRF. Real journalists know the difference. Since the BM tabloid media have tentacles in US media. They know. Unless they want to admit they’re that f&cking dumb. lol. They won’t.

Bojo’s sister mad comments and this one is also something else. Excuse, excuse, excuse.
        https://www.ktvu.com/news/markles-seed-will-taint-royal-family-lead-to-black-king-says-british-politicians-girlfriend

Don’t forget, the BRF did NOTHING to stop this bs.

      • kirk says:

@kelly = Rupert Murdoch apologist, and obvious obfuscator for claiming “Sun” article use of “Nappy new year” in headline about Archie was only referring to diapers while ignoring its use as a pejorative and racist double entendre.

@kelly = maven of misdirection in searching for other “nappy” headlines relating to white royal children to avoid britmedia’s use of it as a pejorative and racist double entendre when applied to black American Archie.

@kelly = mendacious propagandist who claims she knows what drove Harry and Meghan to leave UK. Zero first hand knowledge of the couple, how would she know?

Exactly when did Meghan ever “agree” that a hurtful comment made about her and her offspring was “innocuous” anyway?

      • Kkat says:

There was the nappy article title, m

      • Becks1 says:

The racism absolutely drove H&M away. That one comment alone didn’t, but it was part of a larger racist campaign against Meghan. Acting like that comment wasn’t a big deal because they kept working as royals afterwards is being naive and overlooking the bigger picture.

  14. aquarius64 says:

I love these pictures on the Sussex Christmas card. Archie and Lili have grown so much. People are going gaga over the pictures because they see so little of the kids. Harry marked them for sure; they are definitely Spencer’s. Sadly the trolls were out with the usual, but their newest screed is hoping Getty Images would put a kill notice on the family photo, mainly because Kate was busted for the Mother’s Day FrankenPhoto worldwide.

    • Ginger says:

There is no need for a kill notice. One thing H&M can do is provide the original (if it is photoshopped) KP couldn’t do that when asked and that’s why you can’t believe any photo that they release. The trolls are so damn dumb. That kill notice was a big hit to their ego.

  15. Alwyn says:

I’ll be the naysayer. The card is too busy and looks like a corporate/business issued one-sheet and not a personal family Christmas greeting. IMO they should not have included the kids at all since the other photos highlight their work. They’re an extremely photogenic couple and I’d like to see more of them just being happy and beautiful.

    • sevenblue says:

I think it is both business and personal. That is why they put the names of their company and foundation on the card. It certainly looks busy, but I liked it.

    • Tessa says:

I like the card very much.

      • sunnyside up says:

I like it a lot as well, from a design point of view it is a bit busy but it does show how happy they are together. It also refutes a lot of the nasty stuff that is written about them.

    • Jan says:

It is not a personal family card, as you stated it is a business card.
They send personal cards to their friends, who are not going to sell them to the tabloids.

    • Anna says:

I think it’s more of a business/corporate card than a personal one. I think if they didn’t include the pic with their kids and dogs, it would have been fine either way, it’s a lovey sentiment overall

    • MsIam says:

It’s not a personal card, it’s their corporate card. It was a busy year for them with lots of travel and I think the message was they were glad to come home to be with family.

      • Jais says:

Yes, that was the vibe I got. All the pics were from Harry and Meghan’s travels this last year. And the one with the kids was a happy to return and be home with the kids and the dogs vibe. Lol at least that was the symbolism I was reading into it.

    • somebody says:

Lots of family-owned businesses use personal pictures in this way.

    • Amy Bee says:

It’s a corporate card. It’s not their personal card.

    • Becks1 says:

I get the impression (based on nothing LOL) that they do two separate cards – one from Archewell and H&M (this one), and one from the Sussex family (that the public does not see.) It looks like here they may have added the family picture to personalize the card a bit.

I do think its busy, but they had a busy year.

    • Polo says:

It literally says in the article that this is their business card for those who have supported them and they send out personal Christmas cards for close family and friends lolz

      • Dee says:

This. And the reason they are doing all this work with their businesses is to make the world a better place for their kids. Hence, the family pic in the middle of the top.

    • Ginger says:

ITV said that they will send a personal card to their close friends and family. This is their business card.

    • Nerd says:

This photo was released in a business capacity and their more personal family photos from this photo shoot will be released to family and friends in a more private and personal manner. It has a more business feel because it was meant to be a business photo. The children were added because in some of their business interactions their children do know and interact with some of the people they work with.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

I see this as a celebration of the togetherness they have with their work and nuclear family.imo Which, is what, the majority of their work is about.

        Love it.

  16. sevenblue says:

So happy for them, they have got their little family, beautiful home. Harry really looks like his grandfather when he smiles, especially in that pic.

  17. Jan says:

Meghan and Harry having fun posting a picture that if you try to enlarge it, pixelated.
Toxic Tom is a redhead, Jr still is, and the same way the redhead gene is not only from the Spencer’s, the same with height gene.

  18. Anna says:

I know we can’t see Lili’s face, but she really went “I’m DIANA’S granddaughter” with that hair

  19. MsIam says:

Lovely card, I hope they have a wonderful Christmas, away from the toxic UK bunch.

  20. Tessa says:

Very sweet photo. I hope they have a great Christmas and happy New t
    Year.

  21. Boo says:

    How sweet 🙂
I hope they can find some peace this holiday season away from the onslaught.

  22. MrsBanjo says:

Red hair is recessive. It’s not just Harry’s genes that led to them being redheads. It’s Meghan’s genes as well. If Meghan didn’t have the gene the kids wouldn’t be redheads.

  23. Chaine says:

The Fail’s take on this card is “Meghan shows off her expensive wardrobe” 🙄🙄🙄

    • Debbie says:

Well, it is Christmas so, I guess, ’tis the season, for… venom? I love seeing the picture of the little in blue from their Colombian tour again.

    • Jais says:

All I can tell is that she’s wearing white🤷‍♀️

    • Becks1 says:

Well they would know because they have spent pretty much every minute since she joined the royal family cataloging how much she may have spent on any given wardrobe piece, regardless of when she bought it or who paid for it. They probably count her watch and wedding set in each picture to drive up the cost of the “expensive wardrobe” in this card.

  24. wolfmamma says:

Happy Holidays with wishes for a joyous New Year to all of you too, dear Sussex’s.

Thank you for sharing your card and wishes for us All.

Such a positive card for a challenged country and world. Bless you

  25. L4Frimaire says:

I like the card and nice to get a glimpse of the kids, all bright red hair. Nice energy and so happy. I do a collage of pics from the year for my Christmas/Holiday card instead of posed photos too.

  26. Over it says:

I am so happy to see this card and I love that Harry and Meghan continue to give the haters their children backs . I hope the left behinds get the same treatment. This is the only view of Archie and Lili that those s.o.b deserve to see. May Archie and lili continue to grow , beautiful and happy and healthy and loved

    • Chrissy says:

I totally agree. Those kids deserve all the privacy that their parents desire! Love the little redheads! The Spencer genes live on!

  27. Gail Hirst says:

Oh, Man, this is so frustrating….I can’t see it!! Had cataract surgery yesterday and no matter how hard I try, it’s just all too blurry to make out details. In fact, I trust my fingers are on the righjt keys, otherwise this note will come out as gibberish and I won’t be able to tell the difference!! Thanks to Miss Pease, Typing, I know my keyboard by heart, but cannot see for the life of me what I’m typing! And I cannot see what I expect are BEAUTIFUL pictures. Nor can I read the likely loving comments y’all have posted. I’m stymied!! Damn, eh?! Ah well, I’m told this, too shall pass, so I just have to be patient. Hope that part is true!! I’ll enjoy the pictures a couple of days after y’all, is all. Merry Christmas to all!! gh

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

@Gail, Miss Pease did the job, your typing skills are outstanding. Best wishes for a quick recovery. Yes, lots of loving comments for the beautiful pictures and they did lots of great work. Merry Christmas to you as well.

  28. QuiteContrary says:

Harry’s face as he greets Lili with open arms is just pure joy … and so is Meghan’s as she greets Archie.

I love everything about that photo of the four of them — the gorgeous setting, the adorable doggos, the easy affection, the fact that the kids’ faces aren’t showing.

I hope the Sussexes have the happiest Christmas season.

  29. Pebbles says:

Someone needs to hold the derangers by the hand and explain that W&K/Kensington palace SENT their photo to media outlets as well as posting it on socials. These media outlets are held to standards and accountable for images they release. They got kill notices for submittIng an inaccurate image. What is worse is that we were told by reporters that people tried to reach out to KP about the inaccuracies before these agency’s issued the kill notice but their offices didn’t respond.

This is a whole different situation. The Sussex’s sent an ecard to subscribers of their email list.

The Wales have stopped giving their photos for newspapers to publish since that debacle. They just post on social media

  30. Advisor2U says:

It’s such a beautiful Xmas/Holliday Card. So Sussexes, right?
This is what love and joy look like; love of family and love of community.

    • WaterDragon says:

Something the Left Behinds apparently know little about since all they can talk about is who they are “snubbing” and who is not “close enough” to be considered part of the “family”.

  31. Walking the Walk says:

    Cute!

  32. Lauren says:

I wonder if the Wales have enough time to quickly change their Christmas card

    • HeatherC says:

But what activity/”work” are they going to show off? Stills from the Summer’s Eve cancer commercial? Egg looking excitable at a men’s soccer match?

    • Lau says:

It will probably be a photo with the two of them in the middle exchanging some strange PDA.

  33. Paddingtonjr says:

I love the pictures they chose for their card. I always smile a little when I see how genuinely happy Harry and Meghan are, especially around their kids.

  34. Lau says:

I’m not sure that Lili’s hair will get lighter. My cousin had the same shade of hair as her when she was her age and now she’s 15 and it’s still that beautiful deep shade !

  35. Fastgran50 says:

Lovely to see a picture from that family so full of fun and joy. Harry did the right thing leaving making @ new life for his wife and family. The BM will as usual find fault, but to me they look happy.

  36. Delphine says:

In order for Archie and Lillibet to have red hair Meghan has to be carrying the red hair gene too. So they got her genes.

  37. Chantale says:

I am sorry the comparison of two young kids clothes are awful. They are two little girls who are just dressing maybe how they like or how their parents like. Do we need to put little girls against each other.? I do not care if you prefer the Sussexes or Wales, can we all agree children comparison are off limits.

  38. blunt talker says:

This is a very lovely and joyful card-I really like it-it shows Harry and Meghan doing their thing at event or projects they enjoyed-then come home to their children who they love and adore with all of their hearts-the message I see-we may do many things and travel many places but our hearts and the center of our lives is our children-I can see that thick hair Harry mentioned recently-Lilibet and Archie will definitely be taller than their mother-May God bless and keep the Sussex family safe, healthy, and happy going into the year 2025. I glad that these kids parents are doing a slow roll out to show their children under circumstances they approve of-no forced pr.

  39. AC says:

Some of the Christmas cards I get from family or friends are montages of what they did the whole year and then describing a year in review. To me there’s nothing wrong with their Christmas card. I love it. Maybe it’s an American thing to have photo montages/year in review , but they live in the U.S. now and the kids are also Americans. Agree with Kaiser- I think Lili is going to be more strawberry blonde just like her paternal grandmother(I also noticed that when I saw the card yesterday). That’s prob making that family on the other side of the pond (and their loyalists) so crazy.

  40. Kay says:

Just popped by to say what a thrill for the adorable little Columbian girl in the corner pic on the card!! Not only did she get to embrace Meghan in real life but is also immortalised on a Sussex Christmas card. So beautiful and probably something she will cherish all her life ❤️

  41. Mirage says:

I must stay I am completely heartbroken to see so little of the Sussex children. They look adorable.
We’re all paying for the meanness of the British media!
