Duchess Meghan asked Netflix to delay the release of ‘With Love, Meghan’

There have been several moments over the past six years or so where I find myself agog by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s unlucky timing. Some examples: QEII’s death just a few months before their Netflix docuseries was released and Spare was supposed to be released (Spare ended up being slightly delayed, with some rewrites); the Sussexes sitting down with Oprah just as Prince Philip’s health was circling the drain; and right now, just days away from Netflix’s release date for With Love, Meghan, and Southern California has been devastated with widespread wildfires. It sucks – these are acts of god, and it just feels like seriously bad luck every time the Sussexes have something happening.

Over the weekend, the rumors began in the Daily Mail and Daily Beast that Meghan or Netflix would delay With Love, Meghan’s release because of the Southern California fires. The Daily Beast even said that Meghan’s show was filmed “just up the road” from the fires – meaning 90 miles away. I understood how the optics were not great, but I also believed that WLM was always intended as light, uncomplicated escapism, which is always needed at any given moment. Netflix didn’t see it that way and neither did Meghan. WLM has been delayed until March:

Meghan Markle has decided to postpone the release date of her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, as wildfires continue to devastate her hometown of Los Angeles.

At the request of Meghan, and with the full support of Netflix, the release of the series — a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of Southern California — has been moved from its previously announced Jan. 15 premiere date to March 4, due to the ongoing devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires.

“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Meghan said in a statement on Sunday, Jan. 12.

California is especially meaningful to the Duchess of Sussex, 43. She now resides in Montecito with her husband, Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, but she was also born and raised in Los Angeles. Her new series, With Love, Meghan, includes thoughtful nods to her home state and her strong connection to it.

The couple welcomed friends and loved ones who were forced to evacuate into their Montecito, Calif., home, PEOPLE previously confirmed. Through their Archewell Foundation, they are working to identify the most effective ways to support the community during this crisis.

If this is what she thinks she needs to do, then sure, I support it. I would have found a way to support it if she still wanted to release the series this week as well. I just hate that those motherf–kers at the Mail and the Daily Beast were right when they suggested a delay would be in the cards. A silver lining might be that Meghan now has more time to promote the series and possibly get American Riviera Orchard up and running.

  1. Eurydice says:

My first thought is that Meghan may have had scheduled promo appearances to go along with the show and, of course, they’d have to be canceled.

    • Noor says:

Meghan made the right call to delay the release of WLM. Her show celebrates the Californian lifestyle and is meant to be both aspirational and inspirational. It would not be appropiate to release WLM when Southern California is being devastated by wildfires.

      • Eurydice says:

Yes, of course. Everything about the show would be difficult right now, even just talking about it.

      • Tara says:

I agree. It would have had a bland aftertaste, such a stark contrast between what was and what is. I think it was the right decision, for a lot of reasons

      • AD says:

It’s okay. It will right after Invictus. Enough time for positive publicity.

      • Megan says:

It would be monstrous for Netflix to launch a show about SoCal when it is literally burning to the ground. I can’t believe anyone is surprise by this.

  2. ThatGirlThere says:

“just hate that those motherf–kers at the Mail and the Daily Beast were right when they suggested a delay would be in the cards.”

It’s not about them being right, it’s about Meghan putting the needs of her community first during this time.

A bunch of folks are now saying she’s trying to pull focus by postponing the debut of WLM. She would have been doing interviews and promos and it wouldn’t have been the best time. You can tell how distraught she was when meeting with the folks affected in LA. She continues to show her humanity and they continue to be trash haters.

    • Eurydice says:

Pull focus from what? These people are really insane.

    • Anna M says:

@thatgirlthere, they are disappointed that they have to wait. The show was the best thing to happen to the rotas in a long time, it’s going to resurrect and rejuvenate their fading jobs of royal analysts and experts. So, they are not happy about having to wait.

      • Christine says:

I agree with you, I could hear the collective moans from the rota all the way to my house in California.

  3. Ginger says:

I was thinking she would have a big LA premiere event and that’s why it was moved. They have a lot going on in February with Invictus and then Harry will be in the UK for his court case. I think moving it was wise since so many events are being moved to different dates.

  4. Amy Bee says:

I’m disappointed but I understand why Meghan felt she had to do this. It’s clear that’s she’s very upset about what’s happened and she wants to concentrate on relief efforts. No doubt some of her friends and family have lost their homes and as Kaiser says she will have more time to promote the show when the time is right. It was a very brave decision to delay the show and it illustrates how trapped she was when she was a working royal.

  5. Shoegirl77 says:

I’m guessing that there’s no way that crew involved with WLM, haven’t been affected by the fires and Meghan is being thoughtful about the release because of them.

    • Tina says:

This was my thought as well. I’m sure most of the team that worked on this is LA based. This is deeply personal to Meghan. I can’t imagine seeing my home town burn and then the sheer amount of people (many whom you would know and love) affected. The series really looks like it captures the joy of California living and I don’t think this is the week to launch the show. It sucks. But I’m glad she had the agency to request this and that Netflix agreed to it.

    • Monika says:

I was wondering if this affects Meghan and Harry more than we know. Do Meghan and Harry have an office in LA? And some of their employees might be affected too.
So I can understand that Meghan feels the need to focus on helping the people affected by the wildfires instead of promoting her show.

      • Jan90067 says:

Archwell’s Foundation address is here on Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills, not far from where I am. While we, living/working in this area aren’t “physically” impacted (in terms of fire approachment), just about all of us are personally impacted by the fires/evacuation/etc. and emotionally impacted. Five friends have had their homes burned to the ground up in the Palisades, my nephews’ elementary school is gone, as is a good part of their High School (Pali High). Three very dear friends had to evacuate out of Encino (the SF valley area) Friday night due to encroaching flames.

With strong Santa Ana winds kicking up again tonight through Wednesday, it’s still very scary, and so, so devastating.

      • Christine says:

Agreed, Jan. I live in mid-Wilshire, and my brother and his kids are staying with us. They live in Pasadena, and while their house is still standing, it’s still dangerous to be there.

Everyone in this city is affected, we all know people who have lost their homes, or their homes are still in danger. It is really impossible to explain what it is like here right now, there is a heaviness around everything. My son’s school opened today, and the head of school sent an email to all of us stating that she had talked to all of the students and teachers who had lost their homes, and they all wanted school to reopen so they could regain a tiny bit of normalcy. It was heartbreaking.

This is not the time for what I am sure is going to be a positive and lighthearted show about SoCal living. It really would be tone deaf, and the Sussexes are never tone deaf, to the complete chagrin of Salty Isle.

  6. ThatGirlThere says:

“I just hate that those motherf–kers at the Mail and the Daily Beast were right when they suggested a delay would be in the cards.”

It’s not about them being right, it’s about Meghan (and Harry) doing what’s she mush to serve her community. She continues to show her humanity and they continue to be trash haters.

  7. Criti Calthinking says:

I’m bummed about this, but I also understand. This is her home and hometown. I’ll mark my calendar for March. WLM will be out just in time for Easter hosting ideas.

  8. Maxine Branch says:

I always believe that everything happens for a reason (I cannot process a reason for the fires of course). This was the right call in my opinion. Meghan is probably as devastated by the fires as the pictures we have seen of her state (hometown). Given how empathetic this couple operates, her call to delay is what she would do. The excitement for her show is unabated because of the delay. In fact I believe the audience for it will be even larger because of how unselfish this decision was and how quickly her and Harry went directly there to help in anyway they could.

    • Kingston says:

This is my sentiment exactly! The audience for the show and the products that I strongly believed will be launched in tandem, will be massive!

Unlike what was said in the blurb, I had never viewed H&M’s timing (both the ones within their control as well as Acts of God) to be anything but fortuitous. The #1 example of this (which was a combination of both) was when they fled britain in Nov 2019.

I recall that leading up to that period, which came after they had returned from the South Africa tour where H announced their legal action, that the word from the palace via their spox in the shitmedia was that H&M were going to take “a 6-week break” during which they would celebrate Thanksgiving with M’s mother and then they would return to “work” after xmas. Little did they know that H&M had planned to make their half-in/half-out proposal.

So after their half-in/half-out proposal was rejected and their Vancouver location leaked by chuckyTheTURD’s minions, the fact that they were able to flee Canada with Tyler’s help and just before Covid hit the world was, in my opinion, the first of a series of fortuitous happenstances (“good luck”) that they have enjoyed.

The fact that during the period 2020-2021 they were able to: live in peace and freedom; purchase their forever home; start their foundation; reconnect with their professional contacts and make new ones, independent of palace strictures; began writing H’s book; create their website Archewell; plus so many other foundational work they were able to do so that when the world re-opened, they were ready to build, was a priceless string of luck that money could never buy.

      • Christine says:

I’m with you completely, Harry and Meghan really benefited from having that time to get their ducks in a row, with everyone in lockdown. The British media was completely unable to travel to the U.S. for the purposes of harassing them.

      • Friendly Crow says:

I agree. I have seen them bounce from one incredibly luckily timed event/ interview/ incident to the next. The universe has been kind as they work to remove themselves from toxicity and to be a force for good in our world.

  9. SAS says:

My mind has boggled at a lot of their business (media) decisions (mostly their lack of traditional PR around their projects), but I can actually see how this makes sense. I really think the wealthy and privileged in LA have to walk a knife edge at the moment in regards to public perception.

I imagine a tuned-in PR person being very calculated in not wanting to take a gamble on Meghan’s gorgeous and carefree lifestyle series being seen as a balm of positivity in these times vs an easy political target for how out of touch the other half live, and be a scapegoat for people’s fears around the obscene wealth disparity only increasing in the next 4 years.

I’m so disappointed as I’ve been so looking forward to it! I’ve had absolutely nothing to watch this year so far!

    • Bumblebee says:

That is…an interesting comment. I can’t tell if those jabs are accidental or on purpose. I definitely need more coffee.

      • SAS says:

@Bumblebee it’s not intended directly toward Megan and Harry, I’m a huge fan. Maybe I’m wrong but I’m seeing resentment brewing at the wealth disparity in the states and after an initial period of bringing people together, disasters like this tend to make people look for a target for their anger and discord and I hate that Harry and Megan tend to be such easy scapegoats for the media. Hence (like everyone else) thinking this is a smart decision for now.

    • Barb Mill says:

I’ve seen a lot of criticism for celebrities and the LA elite on twitter, not just the usual derangers of Meghan trying to get attention. People feel the wealthy neighborhoods are getting better protection than the poor neighborhoods. This is also the kind of situation that trump and the gop try to exploit to gain support. That’s there motto divide and conquer.

  10. Me at home says:

On a slight tangent, the BM is full of comments saying H and M only showed up for 19 minutes. Or 17 minutes or 9 minutes, the unhinged seem to make it up as they go along. Just on the reporting that doesn’t make sense, as it took Harry 10 minutes to get that donut. Does anybody have an accurate time spent for them?

    • Eurydice says:

Well, the mayor said they were there twice on Friday. They served food, they visited various sites, they visited fire fighters and first responders, they met with Jose Andres, and then there was the 10-minute donut. Plus, the travel time to and from locations and home. Looks to me like they spent a whole day there.

    • Ginger says:

If it comes from the British media and the Kate Middleton fans then it’s a lie. The mayor said they were there for a while. I believe him.

    • somebody says:

The reporters who didn’t recognize that they were there at first and now want to seem as if they know it all?

    • Julia says:

This is just a bonkers talking point from trolls. Not supported by any evidence. One report I read said they spent 45 minutes talking to families and first responders. The mayor said they also visited earlier with masks on handing out food. I expect they were there the whole day but many people didn’t recognise them because they had masks on. Unless you read it from an official source that was there you it is just nonsense from trolls.

    • Becks1 says:

There’s not an accurate time because the press didn’t know they were there the whole time. So the BM is probably completely lying, or maybe the 19 minutes is from when they noticed they were there until the Sussexes moved on and the cameras weren’t on them anymore.

Either way, the british media lies like its their job (because it seems that IS their job) so I wouldn’t worry about an “accurate time.” We don’t have “accurate times” for other volunteers.

    • Tessa says:

A repeat of how they said harry stated 5 minutes with Charles which was a lie. Always trying to minimize

    • Moniquep says:

First of all, thinking (never mind critical) is not familiar to these derangers. So I gonna take a stab at the known activity timeliness.

      1. Show up in the morning at the WCK location and hand out food and supplies, for hours.
      2. Travel to the responders command center, meet with and thank responders.
      3. Travel to the evacuation location, visit with evacuees. We know that H&M would spend as much time with each family as they could. (H 10 min donut run).
      4. Head back to WCK location. From the reporters finally picked up they were there the camera never left them. ( way longer than 9-17 min)

We lovingly refer to Harry as the ginger, and he frequently operates in stealth mode, but even he couldn’t pull that off.
In the world of the deranged, Harry and Meghan are just dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t.

      Make it make sense!

    • Magdalena says:

After all we have seen over the years, it’s amazing that people put any stock into the lies which are deliberately spread by the BM (I always see this as “bowel movement”). It doesn’t take 5 seconds to work out that they were there for a heck of a lot longer than whatever the derangers and their assistants in the media claim. Why give them clicks? Take a leaf out of H+M’s book: starve them out of business. Good things are happening with H+M, they are making great strides despite setbacks, and still people are obsessing about what their haters are thinking and saying. Your blood pressure will thank you the minute you begin to ignore them, with the bonus that THEIR blood pressures will increase instead. Because the one thing they hate is being left to scream their lies into their echo chamber.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Excellent comment @Magdalena! I don’t put stock into their lies. Don’t put stock into when they might get things right. To me, when they get something right, it’s a Captain Obvious moment. imo

    • Barb Mill says:

I know they were there 1 day before the media even found out they were there on the 2nd day.

      • MsIam says:

It’s about a two hour drive one way without traffic. Who knows what it’s like with all of that chaos going on. The Sussexes are not going to do that for a 20 min photo opp, get real. The derangers are just living up to their name, they live in delulu land.

  11. Tessa says:

One positive note the derangers and dm were ready to pounce on January 15 now they have to wait

  12. FancyPants says:

They demanded a delay because “insensitive” and “timing” and now they’re criticizing the delay because “Meghan can never be upstaged by anything.” We see you.

    • Tessa says:

And they are trying to get mileage about kates birthday so called upstaging

    • Amy Bee says:

@Fancypants: I mean the derangers had to come up with something. Apparently Kinsey Schofield is upset about all the positive press Harry and Meghan have been getting this week.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Kinsey ought to be more concerned about aging into Angela Levin in the looks department.

  13. Tessa says:

This has impacted daytime soap operas and game shows staea and hosts filmed there. Daytime drama stars including eric B r a e d e n have lost their homes.

  14. Becks1 says:

I’m disappointed for selfish reasons (I was really looking forward to it, lol) but I completely understand the reasoning. Besides the fact that the show seems light and fluffy, it also seems like its going to feature (even if in a small way) the California weather, landscape, fruits and flowers, etc. I can see how they might think a shot of Meghan and a friend gazing out over California might seem “off” right now.

I also wonder if there was some promo planned for this week that Meghan either can’t do because she’s volunteering or just thought would be in bad taste given the disaster, or if a premiere was planned for LA that would obviously be out right now. And like someone said above its possible members of the crew etc are affected by the fires.

And I think the extended delay makes sense because now it won’t interfere with Invictus, which is very thoughtful of her and proves (again) how much of a partnership she and Harry have. She didn’t just push it back two weeks, she deliberately delayed it until after Invictus.

Anyway I think its going to do great in March, I was looking forward to it now (as we all were) but I think as spring starts to wake up this may be something bright and sunny to motivate me to hit up the local florist and farmers market (they start in April here) etc.

    • Eurydice says:

Yes, I’m a warm-weather person (don’t ask why I live in Boston) so I’m always looking forward to spring. But we don’t really have spring – we just go from wet and clammy straight to summer – WLM will help to bring spring indoors.

  15. Nanea says:

Moving WLM was a good decision, proving Meghan cares about her community.

It will give the Deranged Ones more time to build up momentum, by coming up with even more unhinged conspiracy theories and completely unfounded criticism.

It was so great to see previously uninvolved people pushing back this past weekend against the BM and KP’s bots.

It seems the RF have firmly maneuvered themselves into their balcony’s second row, because all eyes are on the Sussexes. People on socials like what they see, and are more than willing to support them.

  16. Jais says:

I’m disappointed but I get it. Sending love to everyone affected by the fires❤️

  17. acha says:

Imagine kicking your only intelligent, caring, and savvy family members out of the country. I guess it was just proof that H&M made every single other member of the family look like garbage.
(I suppose Charles is hard-working, he was also just a manchild of a husband.)

    • IdlesAtCranky says:

I’m finally reading Omid Scobie’s book Endgame, and boy howdy, King ChuckEmOut is sooo much worse than I ever realized.

I always knew he was spoiled, a horrible, abusive husband, and a crappy father. And I’ve always suspected that he may have had more than just an indirect involvement in Princess Diana’s death. I even tracked the recent news about him being a slumlord.

But he is so much more corrupt than I ever realized, because I never paid much attention to him. Prince Harry & PRINCESS Meghan are well out of that mess, that’s for certain.

  18. MY3CENTS says:

I was really looking forward to it but I understand.
The BM is going to keep screaming and crying about it for two months, so she dosen’t have to worry about promoting and anyone forgetting.
March actually ties in well with spring, gardens etc., so that’s a positive.

  19. Jan says:

Meghan is not a quitter, every set back, is a stepping stone.

  20. aquarius64 says:

I’m disappointed the show is delayed, but I understand the reasoning. Also, people on SM are not showing any empathy to celebrities because the wealthy images and lifestyles give they can afford to start over while thousands of Angelenos can’t because they don’t have the means. Celebrities making stupid, political comments don’t help; they look like they are exploiting a tragedy for attention. Meghan is called an attention seeker no matter what, but she has her agency to make decisions which is wonderful after everything she has gone through. The BM will continue to troll for the Crown because the BM knows the lack of empathy about a natural disaster, where firefighters from other countries are volunteering, makes the Windsors and the UK look bad, given the “Special Relationship “.

  21. Harla says:

I agree with Meghan 💯 and am glad that Netflix is supporting her decision.

  22. Liz says:

I was disappointed that it didn’t appear like she as going to promote the series other than her instagram posts. She didn’t do any magazine interviews or have any TV interviews scheduled. I think she needs to take a lesson from JLO and ignore all the negative comments and just promote your projects.

    • Kingston says:

I sincerely hope she doesnt take any lessons from Jlo. The 2 are not the same.

Those who think that M’s decision to postpone her show was based on anything said by racists in the uk or other hateful detractors elsewhere have never had a death or disaster hit them or their loved ones. You enter a whole different world and everything else becomes smaller and/or insignificant.

No one knows which of M’s relatives or friends might have been directly affected by the fires. We actually know that there are those close enough to her to have been offered refuge in her home. But notwithstanding, if the devastation looks so incomprehensible to us from the other side of the world, how much more horrific it must be for someone who was born and raised in LA.

I despise both the hateful ghouls as well as the insensitive tho seemingly well-meaning others who cant cease their navel-gazing long enough to step into the shoes of others as a way of trying to see things from their perspective.

    • Square2 says:

@LIZ They don’t/didn’t announce H or M’s promotion events (TV shows) before hand for security reason (For both the Sussex & the TV show crew, I think.) We didn’t know print media interview until the article dropped, and most TV interviews H&M have done were announced on the day of filming or have already filmed. (The audience at Colbert show’s filming didn’t know Harry was the guest before hand.) Just because we didn’t read/hear about it, doesn’t mean there were no promotion activity line up for WLM.

  23. sunnyside up says:

Pushing it back and they are criticised, leaving it where it was and they would have been criticised as well, they can’t win, the British press will not let them.

  24. Chelsea says:

The fact that she opened up an Instagram account when she did to promote this show tells me that she was planning on doing promo for it and i wouldn’t be surprised if there was some stuff that was planned for last week that was canceled because of the fires. I think doing promo for this show right now wouldn’t land well and given how emotional she looked on Friday I don’t think she’d be in a great state of mind doing interviews right now either so this was both a good business decision and a good decision for her well being. LA is her home I’m sure she’d much rather like to focus on helping people there right now and I’m guessing they moved the show out so far because Invictus is in February and she wouldn’t be able to promote the show during that. We can all wait a few more weeks for the show; it’s fine.

  25. Magdalena says:

I think that yes, H+M do seem to be plagued by unfortunate timings, but also by a good amount of good luck.

This was a thoughtful and sensitive decision by Meghan, and it is a sign of how supportive Netflix is that they backed it. WLM will launch be even bigger than before in the aftermath, I expect.

I also think that while the haters may be crowing or grumbling (their default states), it is FANTASTIC that the delay essentially deprives the bottom-feeding royal reporters and assorted self-appointed experts whose very livelihood depends on writing about the Sussexes, especially Meghan, from getting new content on which to dine out for the foreseeable future. We could tell that they had been counting down the days and minutes until the 15th so that they could book their slots on television shows and write their idiotic repetitive articles about her and every single frame of the series. And now they will have to find other ways of funding their rents/mortgages and grocery bills this month. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch of people.

  26. TurbanMa says:

Yeah i think that she had interviews and promo that was being cancelled or interrupted and this just made sense to wait. And I do believe that her wanting to help was part of the decision but it could have also been a time to direct people to the resources. So in that way I’m a little torn on the decision. Yes she is subject to a higher level of scrutiny and I can see critics saying she’s using the disaster to get more attention on her show but I think if she just stuck with the original messaging and said something at the end of interviews it could have still worked. I just hope they don’t let the critics dictate too much of their decisions because that’s a difficult way to live.

    • Eurydice says:

She directed people to resources on the Sussex website several days ago.

    • Kingston says:

” I just hope they don’t let the critics dictate too much of their decisions because that’s a difficult way to live.”

Its very clear to the rest of us that H&M are living a wonderful life so obviously, they don’t let the critics dictate ANY of their decisions.

  27. Liz -L says:

She would have been accused of being thoughtless if it went ahead. She’s being thoughtful and measured. Unlike her critics.

  28. B says:

ARO and With Love, Meghan focuses on the beauty of Southern California. It most likely features businesses and gardens that may not exist anymore or could be in danger. It completely makes sense that she would want to push the release back to March. It gives California time to get control of the wildfires and start rebuilding so that by the time With Love, Meghan premieres it can be a celebration of the beauty and resiliency of the state. I’m just happy she has this level of control over her projects.

  29. NikkiK says:

She did the right thing. I’m also in agreement with Jean Smart and think the SAG and Oscars need to be cancelled. They can quietly announce the winners but who’s in the mood for that type of stuff right now? No one.

    • Walking the Walk says:

      Agree.

    • Calliope says:

The problem is all the “below the line” staff that rely on the paychecks from the Oscars, Grammys, and all the parties – caterers, wait staff, flowers, hotels, restaurants, sets, lighting, makeup, hair, etc., etc. Cutting off the guaranteed income doesn’t seem right either.

  30. slippers4life says:

Honestly, I think she did the right thing. First and foremost, despite what the derangers say, she likely wants to focus her energy on supporting LA right now. Not only is it a humanitarian crisis, this is her home town. Imagine if London was burning? The expectation would be for Harry to prioritize London. She doesn’t have time or space for promo right now. Secondly, Meghan is smart and pulling herself out of the echo chamber that the Sussex squad and those of us on the left are often caught up in. Any of us would defend her premiering her show on time. But it would be so easy to say that doing so would be tone deaf. I don’t think it is personally, but the people in the middle, who could go either way, will hear things like this and think it’s true. I think she is smart in her part to take the helpful and constructive feedback while not paying attention to the cruel deranger narrative. Good for Meghan all around.

Logistically….and humanely…I don’t see anyway that Meghan COULDN’T postpone the launch of her show as I’m sure EVERYONE who worked on the show has been affected by this 😱 in various degrees…Hollywood is burning…and that truth must be dealt with…

s/ Poor BM, RR, and the rest of the deranged. They had their cannons of hate all loaded up with sh!t for Jan 15th. They’ve unleashed all their “secret” weapons – new PoW hairstyle, somebody’s 60th b-day, etc- and now … And now, it’s all for naught! They gotta do it all over again, find other sh!t. /s

Seriously, Meghan did the right thing. As usual, she thought of others with love.

    • tamsin says:

They’ve already unloaded tons of hate on a show that hasn’t even aired yet. Their hate is as much a story as the series itself.

I’m reminded of my mother’s old Pennsylvania Dutch expression: Can’t win for losin’

(it helps to hear it in a thick Dutchie accent)

    • Kingston says:

Fortunately that doesnt apply to H&M since its obvious to the sensible amongst us that theyre winning at life.

Once again, Meghan does the right thing.

  35. Anna M says:

They are collectively mad because Meghan has pulled the plug on the anticipated feeding frenzy by delaying the show. All the tabloids, royal rotas, body language analysts, food critics, florists, royal critics and interior designers who were waiting to watch every single episode then criticize Meghan’s every move and decor, are gonna have to wait to write their findings.

  36. Walking the Walk says:

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Also though, she would have been slammed repeatedly if that had been put out there this week. Also tons of people in and outside of the industry have been affected.

  37. VilleRose says:

I’m not surprised and was expecting this. Meghan also had to delay the launch of her podcast by a few weeks when the Queen died. She knows what’s appropriate in times like this. But the Sussexes always do seem to have bad luck before major project launches. I don’t really care much what the British tabloids are yammering on about, this was very predictable and their articles really didn’t affect this outcome. Meghan also probably had interviews lined up to promote the show and those would have all been canceled in the wake of the fires. She’s doing the right thing. Hopefully in March things will have calmed down and she’ll be able to launch her show the way it deserves.

  38. Heather says:

I beg to differ. Meghan goes to instragram to promote meghan with love. The derangers and squadies started the buzz. The McCain chick lit a fire. More promotion. LA Fire with meghan and harry philanthropic support, will bring new eyes and interest to Meghan. Now this Bateman chick who has not worked in years will cause a swarm of support for Meghan. Meghan has now delayed her show out of empathy with the world taking notice. The world can’t wait to see it. So F the BM. What you see as
    negative, I see as positive.

  39. Xubeauty06 says:

Everytime they’ve had to delay their personal projects they’ve always come out even more successful. The Netflix series is one of the most watched, people said Spare wouldn’t do as well since it was released after the holidays but it turned into an international best seller. I think this will give her time to do a whole press roll out, get her ARO products ready and maybe tease her podcast. The delay is probably a blessing in disguise

  40. L4Frimaire says:

I totally get why she did it. Meghan is held to an impossible standard where everything she does supposedly affects everyone so she can’t just do something unhindered. That said, a lot of things in LA will be postponed A lot of the people involved in the show are directly impacted by these fires . Also the show is fun and celebratory, and no one is feeling that right now. You know all the haters wanted to use the fire to go after her this week. The same people calling for her to delay the show are now mad she delayed it. March 4 is good. Invictus will be over, Spring on the horizon, can be more hopeful and positive. She can promote it more as well.
