Justine Bateman thinks Prince Harry & Meghan are ‘disaster tourists’

In some ways, the international hate campaign against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has worked – Harry and Meghan can’t leave their house without every unhinged whackjob losing their sh-t. The Sussexes spent some time in Pasadena on Friday, volunteering alongside World Central Kitchen and speaking to evacuees. By all accounts on the ground, their efforts were appreciated and welcomed by all. But that hasn’t stopped the British media and certain Americans from wailing and screaming about how Harry and Meghan aren’t doing enough, or they’re only doing it for attention, or that they don’t even live in LA? These people are so soaked in their own bitterness and bile, they can’t even see straight. Behold, Justine Bateman’s thoughts:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been slammed by Justine Bateman as ‘disaster tourists’ after they appeared volunteering during the LA wildfires. The Hollywood actress, 58, took to X/Twitter to blast the couple after they were spotted in footage dressed in plain clothes and speaking with victims and other helpers.

The former working royals were spotted in a clip out and about at an evacuation centre – just hours before it was confirmed the death toll of the blazes had climbed to 24.

Bateman wrote online: ‘Meghan Markle and Harry are no better than ambulance chasers. What a repulsive “photo op” they achieved. They are “touring the damage”? Are they politicians now? They don’t live here; they are tourists. Disaster Tourists.’

Video captured by Fox 11 Los Angeles showed Harry and Meghan in Pasadena on Friday, mingling with volunteers and the city’s mayor, Victor Gordo. But the couple were keen to provide any support they could, according to the mayor, saying they were ‘great people’ with ‘great personalities’. ‘They really buoyed the spirits of the first responders. We visited the command post at the Rose Bowl and people were very happy to see them,’ Gordo added.

[From The Daily Mail]

It’s true that Meghan and Harry don’t live in LA. I’m sure the Mail hated quoting someone who acknowledged that Montecito is not LA. But Meghan did grow up in LA, it’s her hometown, and she has many friends and associates there. Why is Justine Bateman gatekeeping “volunteering in a tragedy” again? Is there some rule that only Angelenos can help other Angelenos?

    Whatever, MAGA Justine.

    • AD says:

She makes appearance on Fox news. That explains it all folks.

    • Queenie says:

I didn’t know this about her. What a bummer. I have her book, Face. She talks about how there’s nothing wrong with the female aging face and empowers women to be led by their own desires, rather than fear when it comes to injections/surgery. I loved her message and thought she was a cool chick… womp womp

    • Meg says:

Narcissists have no empathy so when they see others do, they feel threatened. ‘Oh you don’t really mean that, this is just self serving’ This is all to soothe Justine’s guilt over not caring while others do. Remember she was deprived of wearing a gown at a premiere because people were too busy dealing with covid so she’s shown what her priorities are

    • MMRB says:

..and WHAT, have you done, Justine Bateman to support, or help publicly advocate for victims?

You’re so unknown now that your image is irrelevant to people, but advocating and supporting by public figures, helps keep the world focused on the kind of effort that is required by these non-profit organizations (which run on donations) to continue to do the great work that they do.

But, if you want to make it about you…go right ahead. But, it’s selfish, and completely lacks any fingers on the pulse.

      • Lorelei says:

MTE! Seems like Justine is sitting home on her computer/phone, so maybe she shouldn’t be throwing stones at anyone out there actually helping.

  2. Anon says:

    Who is she?

    • Hypocrisy says:

Someone who was a teen actor, and not a good one either. I’m sure she’s cashed her paycheck for her criticism already. I’m sorry but unless you are on the ground helping, you need to shut up. JB opinion hasn’t been relevant ever especially when it comes to the Sussex’s.

    • Tarte au Citron says:

I think she e played Michael J Fox’s sister in Family Ties in the 1980s. Jason Bateman is her brother.

      • Lorelei says:

I love Family Ties to this day and I loved her on it— and I think she did a good job portraying ditsy Mallory. But her career never took off like her brother’s did (maybe because she’s so awful behind the scenes).

    • Lightpurple says:

Jason Bateman’s much less successful older sister whose acting career peaked in the late 1980s and crashed in the 1990s so she writes stuff now and makes nasty comments to get attention

    • ❤️❤️❤️❤️SCAR says:

      Justine:

Early life. Bateman was born in Rye, New York, and was four years old when his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and later to California. His mother, Victoria Elizabeth, was a flight attendant for Pan Am who was originally from Shrewsbury in the United Kingdom. Since her family is from the UK she came by her mean spirited saltiness through her genes. The question, is since she spent her life extracting from LA, what has and is SHE doing to assist LA.

      • Anne Maria says:

You seem to be suggesting that people in the U.K. – England, Scotland, Wales and N Ireland – have a genetic mean-spirited saltiness. Nice work. All 65 million of us. I’m sure other countries like Germany or France would welcome input on the characteristics of their population.

    • Josephine says:

A sad sack with a side of bitter. I feel like she’s settled into a life of luxury provided mostly by the husband and is desperate for some reason to be seen as a victim and crusader.

  3. Iris’sGranddaughter says:

What is she (Justine Bateman) doing to help, exactly?

    • orangeowl18 says:

Exactly. Pretty rich that she sits and trolls on her keyboard while they’re out supporting the people of LA. She is truly a piece of work.

      • HuffnPuff says:

If the Wails’ had done this, she would have had a point. The “working royals” think visiting and giving solemn looks at disasters is enough. The Sussexes are helpers though. Their presence was probably appreciated but they were there to do something. Given the location, the place is probably crawling with paparazzi so there isn’t any way for them to avoid the cameras. I really am not looking forward to this sanctioned hatred/racism over the next 4 years.

    • Hypocrisy says:

I don’t know why but JB comments have truly made me upset.. I’m exhausted with women like her Bitch*in and ranting like a true Karen, she criticizes and insults Meghan and Harry’s motives while doing nothing to help but she sure got her 15 minutes (and a fail paycheck I’m sure.. is the going rate to trash Meghan still £70,000?).. and as a woman who is in her late 50’s I have noticed something about women like her.. they all seem to have peaked young, in their teens or adult hood and aging has done them no favors. JB peaked before she even was able to vote and looks like she has spent her decades since then smoking and drinking to excess (no one ages that drastically without living hard). I look at her face and see Waity in a decade. I guess I would be livid at a woman like Meghan who has natural grace, class, beauty, compassion and wants to not only support people and charities they have funded with not only money but also with their time and work. You will never change a Karen, they are the female version of Al Bundy with a lot more rage.. Meghan definitely is in her prime (peak) now in her 40’s, i think, and i personally feel women like that are the ones truly at peace and happy..
I also find it very telling that she didn’t think Garner or Jolie volunteering and opening their homes was worthy of criticism like she heaped on the Sussex’s making it obvious to this ww that Meghan being biracial is her problem and nothing else mattered to JB but her racist hate.

  4. acha says:

    [Daily Mail HQ]
“Oh crap H&M are doing excellent things again and make the RF look bad — quick, who do we have on speed dial who we can quote saying something nasty about them?”
    “How about Justine Bateman?”
    “Who is that?”
“Some D-list person who hasn’t been relevant in years.”
    “Can she say nasty things?”
    “Oh yes.”
    “Great, let’s get her.”

    • MY3CENTS says:

I guess Toxic Tom wasn’t available.

      • kelleybelle says:

He’s busy moving to the other side of the planet, lol.

      • Hypocrisy says:

Yes an elderly broke man who had a stroke and heart attack (supposedly) somehow can afford to relocate to the other side of the world.. something stinks about that situation also, and yes I saw what his son said about what he goes to Thailand for 🤢..

  5. Andy Dufresne says:

    I’m sorry, but Justine who?

  6. Maxine Branch says:

You can always count on bitter angry people, angry with how their own lives turned out jumping on the Sussexes hate train. Bless this miserable woman, I hope she is helping out instead of spewing hate and venom when everyone needs hope, help and love. Also, you can always count of that gutter rag the Mail finding the most disturbed angry folks spewing Sussex venom. Speaks to their audience of vile critics.

  7. somebody says:

Ambulance chasers are looking to make a profit off of victims, H&M are NOT. This woman is to bitter and stupid to even know what she’s saying. I’m sure the actual victims of the fire appreciate any help they can get. Starting to think she wasn’t acting with the dumb character she played as a teen. Haven’t seen her in anything else so can’t compare.

  8. Tessa says:

Justine is so not relevant. Is she playing policewoman griping about harry and Meghan. Does she hope huevo will give her a knighthood . What a bitter person. She is probably still annoyed that Julia Roberts stole the picture Justine starred in. There are charity drives going on all over now. So because it’s harry and Meghan she wants to cater to derangers.

  9. Cathy says:

Justine Bateman working hard to try and make herself sound relevant by attacking Harry and Meghan. And was that without leaving her house?

Tell me Justine, what have YOU done to support the fire fighters or people who have lost their homes?

    • Hypocrisy says:

No one, not even the Fail would waste an article on JB so of course she criticized and degraded the Sussex’s actually working at a charity they helped fund for years now just to get in print. Ugly on the inside and outside..

  10. Eurydice says:

“Yoo-hoo! Look at me over here! I can trash Harry and Meghan, too!! Look at meeeeee!!! Hello? Hello?”

    • Jais says:

I mean Meghan Kelley is probably calling her up to come on her show now. Throw in McCain too. What a bunch of bitter haters. It’s off-putting and repulsive.

  11. Amie says:

Whatever. She can suck it. I’m so sick of people taking shots at HM.

  12. MAGA Justine is trying any way she can to get her name back out there and she decided to jump on the I hate the Sussexes bandwagon to do just that. She is a d-list nobody.

  13. Nev says:

    Sit down hater.
    Stay pressed.

  14. Tessa says:

She had her 15 minutes of fame on family ties then her career went nowhere. Michael j fox had a successful movie and tv show career. Justine never did.

    • somebody says:

Michael also just got a Presidential medal for contributing positively to society, while Justine just spews out hate.

    • atorontogal says:

Tina Yothers (who played Jennifer, the youngest sister) also blames being a MAGAt for not having a career in Hollywood.

  15. sunnyside up says:

Never heard of her, the DM is getting desperate. The trouble is their readers fall for this stuff hook line and sinker.

  16. ThatGirlThere says:

I guess since Jason is the talented, charming talented one she’s feeling left out. Now she like James Woods is on speed dial for maga news to give her hot takes.

  17. Julie says:

Justine Bateman doesn’t look like an happy person living an healthy life. She the type Harry have compassion for.

  18. Susan says:

If helping others automatically makes you a politician, then I guess firefighters and nurses are running secret campaigns too. Scandalous!

  19. SAS says:

As much as I don’t think we should blast people for appearing to not be out there volunteering as we have no idea what they’re doing or going through (see Angelina), I have to admit my first impulse was “And WTF exactly have you been doing other than tweeting, lady?!”

Spewing negativity at others is never going to decrease whatever suffering or emptiness is happening within you. But maybe it will get her hero Trump’s attention, so mission accomplished.

  20. Anonymous says:

What did she have to say about Govenor Newsom’s wife? Jennifer Garner? Sharon Stone? They were there, helping. Giving interviews. Do they even live there? Were they at least directly affected? Did they bring cameras?
I see Jennifer all over social media, praised as an angel on earth. While Meghan didn’t give interviews and people accuse her of stealing the spotlight for her own gain and bringing a camera crew (Netflix).

    • Ginger says:

They don’t bring the money like hating Meghan does. She knows this will be picked up everywhere and that’s why she did it.

    • CM says:

👆🏼👆🏼 exactly!! WTF is wrong with people!? Stop hating and support and applaud everyone wiling to help.

  21. Brassy Rebel says:

I’m quite sure if H&M weren’t helping out, we would be getting non-stop criticism of them for being AWOL during a major disaster in their state. As for Bateman, she’s part of the Venn diagram of MAGA and British monarchists who hate the Sussexes.

    • Josie says:

I’ve never heard of this woman. Just a nobody trying to get her name out there. Wonder if she’ll donate the fee she received for spewing that bit of hate? Of course she won’t. Too greedy which is why she wrote that bitter nonsense. Bitter and greedy like all trolls.

  22. Nanea says:

These Derangers and MAGAts, it must suck to be them — valiantly, loudly fighting and screaming for a tiny bit of relevance.

It’s not like Mayor Gordo said that H&M had volunteered before without anyone knowing or them being recognized. Not like the Faux Noise cameras filming Jennifer Siebel Newsom without realizing who the person distributing food next to her was.

Looks like Ms Bateman has too much free time on her hand. Too bad there’s nothing she could do to help out with, other than spewing hate on Apartheid Clyde’s Hellscape.

  23. aquarius64 says:

Justine Bateman hasn’t been a thing since Family Ties, a show from the 80s. I wouldn’t be surprised if these Hollywood types are jealous that Meghan is royalty by marriage and someone like Justine never would have had a shot.

  24. Roo says:

Stef, Justine wrote a book about aging and accepting oneself and not using makeup. In theory, all fine and positive. But, it turns out she’s a big MAGA and has a bitter view of the world. Whereas Pam Anderson has eschewed makeup and embraced self-acceptance in a joyful and delightful way, Justine seems to be hateful towards the world.

    • Cali says:

She is wearing makeup in the photo above but wearing it poorly.
Btw Doria is a lesson to us all in aging gracefully. Not Justine Bateman..
Does anyone remember Michael J Fox saying he imitated Justine Bateman in a movie by checking his reflection in a spoon?

    • Ginger says:

I saw her an interview she did a few years ago and she came across as very arrogant and snotty.

  25. Looty says:

    What an ugly person.

    • Angelica Schuyler says:

She’s ugly on the inside and the outside. She has issues about how she has aged and is very bitter about it. But, as they say, you get the face you deserve.

PS. I know someone that went to HS with her who said she was an obnoxious snob then too…

  26. Caribbean says:

People have watched her movies that were not from where she is from…so that would make her a cash chasing h@?
BTW, when there is a disaster, Justine Bateman, people from other areas, States, counties, countries (even) have shown up to help…! It seems that stupid people like Justine Bateman is been given free airtime and smart people have to be answering attention Chasers like her.
BTW, her writing about Harry and Meghan helping at a disaster makes her, Justine Bateman, the Disaster Tourist. It must burn Justine Bateman that she cannot control who she clearly wants to control.
Btw, again, Justine Bateman, I am sure that Harry and Meghan were taken around by other people and no matter how they asked nicely, if it was not important for them to look, they would not have been granted access. Go try it Justine Bateman, you might be given a tour, if you are not too chicken sh!t to show up.
I guess this is what you wanted your ‘freedom’ for, Justine Bateman…???

  27. Porsha says:

Don’t worry you would be fine, it’s not actually the make-up, about a year ago she started to appear from nowhere and rant about how better it is to appear natural on the face and nagged on about ageing and how pathetic it is for us to wear make-up
when I read what she was raving on about that’s what I took from it
now she commenting on this, what next, what would she say next that puppies are not cute

  28. NoHope says:

I remember that, but my takeaway was positive–she was defending her right to age. “I think I look rad!” She said. Quite frankly the makeup industry is in no danger of collapsing because she said it was a form of camouflage.

I guess her counter-mainstream voice was really just about herself–any implicit kindness was just projection on my part.

    She’s a disappointment.

  29. Lala11_7 says:

Meghan Markle was born and raised and lived as an adult in that area…with a PLETHORA of loved ones residing there…including her beloved grammar/high school…AND her Mama…

I have two words for Justine Bateman…because I am now following a kinder disposition on these internet streets (only politics is STILL triggering 🤬)…

    And those 2 words are…

    Julia….Roberts…😡

  30. Libra says:

Another attention thirsty nobody using Harry and Meghan to get her name in print.

  31. SIde Eye says:

I have a feeling if Harry had showed up alone, Justine would have been just fine. I am really tired of WW gatekeeping Black women like we need their permission to do things like volunteer, have a cooking show, marry a prince, breathe air, cross our legs, wear fabulous clothes, or exist. I am so sick of it. The colonialist and racist undertones are appalling. She doesn’t have to do what YOU want her to do (which is disappear and be unseen). She can do what she wants Justine!!!

I know Jason really wishes his sister would STFU already. I know the Meghan hate is getting her attention but she just needs to go away. As far as I can see she has done not one thing to help the victims. And yes, she was quiet about every other (White) celebrity that helped. So sit the fuck down Justine. Go become a Fox analyst or whatever just SHUT your damn trap. Her take is unhelpful, unproductive, hateful, incorrect, and it reeks of racism. Also, she would have been the second one on her keyboard (the first being Bethenny whtatsherface) to ask “where the hell are Harry and Meghan and they didn’t even help the victims” if they hadn’t shown up.

Once again Justine since you are really really thick: SHUT UP

  32. Harla says:

Justine, Meghan and Harry will probably never know what you wrote but your friends and family will, perhaps they’ll be surprised by your nastiness but perhaps they won’t. You might want to think about that.

    • Josie says:

Spot on. This woman’s relatives and friends might want to put some distance between themselves and her obvious racism. It’s impossible not to ask ‘why?’ when an unprovoked attack like this comes out of nowhere. Paid to be racist. Oh dear. That’s desperation on a grand scale.

  33. Aradia says:

I went to HS with Justine, it appears she is still insufferable. She can have a seat and be quiet.

    • TQ says:

Haha, love this! Insider info that she’s always been a jerk!

    • MaisiesMom says:

Oh, so she was insufferable then? Good to know.

I remember when she was on “Family Ties” in the 80s, I thought she was gorgeous. And she is lovely physically, just apparently not on the inside. I have a lot of time for her brother but definitely not for her.

  34. Walking the Walk says:

They literally partner with Chef Andres during natural disasters and other terrible events worldwide. What a stupid freaking woman.

  35. GrnieWnie says:

Ummm..they wore masks and even the mayor giving an interview said that both were trying to remain anonymous. He also said the first responders were thrilled to see them so….God, people are so whiny and insane nowadays. Imagine if, growing up, everything you did was commented on and everyone in your class at school framed everything you did in a negative light. You’d be driven absolutely mad.

  36. Aimee says:

This woman hasn’t been relevant since the 1980’s. Why would anyone care what she had to say??

    • Trillion says:

behold the rise of MAGA, this time with even more billionaire and media owner backing and an active hatred of facts. Justine Bateman is married to a director at Deutsche Bank, which explains a lot.

  37. Rayre says:

Well the earth is a disaster and we all are all just visiting …so what’s the difference ?oh wait , she is helping and you are not .

  38. Liz -L says:

So they’re criticised for visiting a place and showing empathy? What a toxic world it’s become. And it’s not due to Harry or Meghan.

  39. Joanne says:

All I can say is that she is one, bitter, dried up husk of a woman. Mr. Roberts said to look for the helpers and Justine thinks that means open season on anyone she doesn’t like.

  40. Debbie says:

Like all disasters, these L.A. fires have really brought out the best and the worst in people. Some people have donated money, those who could not afford to at this time, have volunteered in person, others have opened their homes, etc. On the other hand, there are people like Justine Bateman sitting back and judging the efforts of those helping, of all things. She sees nothing wrong with insurance companies like State Farm cancelling the policies of people whose homes were in the affected areas, or property owners raising the rates of their vacant units because they know more people suddenly need housing; no, Justine doesn’t raise awareness or complain about that, to her the ones worthy of complaint are two people who try to help others. Only, not everyone out there trying to help others, just two specific people. Incredible. Good job Justine.

  41. Jaded says:

What on earth has made her such an insufferable, hateful person? Jealousy that she’s totally irrelevant and can only find pleasure out of sh*tting all over people who are actually making a difference? Take all the seats you bitter old maga hag.

  42. wolfmamma says:

    Justine: bless your heart

  43. Grandma Susan says:

Justine has the face she has earned.

  44. martha says:

They already had a relationship with World Central Kitchen and Jose Andres and it didn’t surprise me that they were in Aladena with him. Just as being helpers helps people there, but also it publicizes this wonderful organization that relies on donations.

Alatadena is such a funky and wonderful neighborhood. It’s heartbreaking.

  45. SciLies says:

Justine Bateman made a movie called Violet in 2021 (her last) in which she cast Jason Dohring in a small role. Dohring is from an incredibly generous family to Scientology and Jason himself is an OTVIII Scientologist (as high as you can go). The Dohrings have donated tens of millions (if not hundreds of millions of dollars) to Scientology mainly through their ABC Mouse business.

Scientologists are notorious for having “Volunteer Ministers” at disasters and have been called out time and again for their faux assistance. So, if Justine wants to be taken seriously with her critiques of who is and is not being a true helper to people in need, maybe she needs to look at her last call list and start their with Dohring and his fellow Scientologists. But maybe it’s been so long since she’s seen a call sheet, she wouldn’t know how to read it now.

Here’s an article about Scientology and the fire by Tony Ortega.
    https://tonyortega.substack.com/p/scientologys-volunteer-ministers

  46. Tiffany:) says:

Justine needs to STFU. We need all of the help we can get, and I appreciate that Harry and Megan are giving their support instead of making up lies about how our infrastructure works.

The right wing misinformation and attacks are making a bad situation so much worse. I see my neighbors, and my city and all these communities step up in truly beautiful ways, but then I look on national news and I see people like JD Vance outright lying on the national news, using our natural disaster as a point in their quest to show that any left leaning state or city is a failure. They don’t care about what’s actually going on, they just want to exploit it for their own political gain. It is so dangerous and emotionally burdensome.

    • IdlesAtCranky says:

I’m so sorry that those cancers on the body politic are making a terrible situation worse for you folks.

Please know that there are a great many people out here who see you, who empathize with you, and who know without doubt that every word that comes out of any MAGAt or Republicant mouth is either a flat out lie, or at best a perversion of some fragment of truth, used only to drive their own destructive agenda.

My heart with you & all those in the path of these fires… 💙💔💙

  47. bisynaptic says:

Please don’t ruin Family Ties for me, Justine.

  48. Becks1 says:

oh shut up. They’re not tourists, meghan is from LA, they live 90 miles away (which apparently is just basically the same thing as LA according to the british press) and they were there with Jose Andres – I love that you can see him in these pictures.

what’s the Archewell slogan – Show Up, Do Good? Well here they are, showing up and trying to do good.

I like that they see a disaster or tragedy unfolding and dont just walk around going “man I wish I could help.” They are actually trying to help and to do what they can. They can’t stop the fires, but they can help feed people and comfort people and can provide funding. Good for them and for everyone helping.

  49. Anna M says:

Jealousy, envy and coattail riding is ugly!

  50. Nerd says:

Meghan was born and raised in LA. She worked in LA until Suits and has even returned to working there now since moving back to the states. She has friends who live in LA and her mother has lived there since before Meghan was born. There are people from other cities, states and even countries who are in LA helping during this unbelievably catastrophic time. Lives and properties have been lost, and this JB instead of rolling up her sleeves to help is criticizing two people who are doing far more than she is. Does she feel the same about all of the other people who don’t live in LA and are helping, or is that only for Harry and Meghan? Did she post about Elon commenting misinformation about a city that he doesn’t live in and he wasn’t born in? Decent and compassionate people would welcome all who are willing to role up their sleeves to help in difficult times. Her attacking two people for doing that very thing, says that something isn’t right with her morally.

  51. Ohwell says:

Justine is attention seeking. No better way to get attention than to bash Harry and Meghan. The media will eat it up.

  52. Over it says:

Oh look , another salty white woman who thinks that only other white women should have the market on helping people . I don’t see any one bashing Jennifer Gardner for helping those who need it . F Justine and all the rest of b like her. So tired of people using and bashing Harry and especially Meghan foe showing up and doing something to help others. Shut the f up you hateful has been .

    • TurbanMa says:

Yeah after reading just the post title I said “oh F you” she’s giving what’s her face vibes betheny frankel, a hater for sport or in frankel’s case an opportunist to keep her name out there. Not sure batsman’s issue but reeks of self importance, who asked her opinion? Not Harry and meg and not me so…

  53. Pam says:

Where is all the vitriol for other celebrities who were also helping, and giving interviews to boot? No, they all have to pile on the people who showed up anonymously to help. I’m not dissing the other celebrities, but H & M are not doing anything different.

  54. Gabby says:

Justine, the fact that you would appear on Jesse Watters’ show tells us everything about who you are and what you stand for. By the way, what have you done to help? You have ruined Family Ties for me.

  55. TurbanMa says:

Ridiculous. We are a good 4 hours from Asheville and so many regular folks of just average means wanted to help as much as possible. Because of road closures we were asked not to come help in person without specific coordination. But if help had been welcome we would have gone and helped. This is what people who care do.

  56. therese says:

Justine Bateman’s very successful brother can give her money if she is hard up. I have to say that Harry and Meghan are a kind of litmus test, and I am constantly amazed at who turns blue. I was amazed that Mia Farrow decided to chime up. Surprised that that stupid Australian “comedienne” tentatively tried to trash Meghan on Watch what happens live. And yet M&H just keep on keeping on, doing their thing, and not letting other people define them.
It’s just that it’s one thing if one has an opinion that one arrived at oneself, but to hammer on with an opinion that someone else told you to have is very weak and unintelligent and far, far more despicable than how others are trying to depict H&M.

    • therese says:

Also, H&M fund World Central Kitchen, where they are volunteering, and gathering information as to how they may further help, because they never show up empty handed seeking photo ops like some other people I could mention. People judge by what they themselves are. I’m not on social media. Is Justine getting any responses of people disagreeing with her?

  57. NotSoSocialB says:

    Wasn’t Meghan BORN in LA?

Bateman is NY state born- and to echo the sentiments of many others here, WHAT HAS JB DONE FOR FIRE VICTIMS?

    What a twat, jesus.

  58. Monc says:

So best to just sit on your ass and do nothing? I mean that seems more like her career trajectory…. Fucking vey!

  59. Beverley says:

Justine Bateman has been showing her MAGA ass for years. She’s been irrelevant for years. She’s made a point to come for Black and nonwhite women for years. This bile is more of the same from this asshat. JB is angry that her entertainment career has been over since Family Ties went off the air. Good riddance. No one wants to look at that face anymore. Hope she enjoys the couple of bucks the British media threw at her.

  60. QuiteContrary says:

    Shut up, Mallory.

I wonder how the rest of the “Family Ties” cast feels about her MAGA nonsense.

  61. U is says:

I wonder if she’s jealous of Justin? He still gets work and is a liberal.

  62. 411fromdownunder says:

So random and vicious. Is she being funded in some way? Part of an op?

The Fox/MAGA connection? maybe Murdoch’s people massaged a deal with her to platform her tech and AI chatter but she’s gotta platform their agenda as well?

After reading the inside mech and strategy of the Baldoni/Lively situation, It would not be surprising if there is some funded strategy at play here…

    • lanne says:

there are a whole lot of conservative women (her, Megyn Kelly, Meghan McCain) that know that they can get attention by dissing Meghan and Harry. Who the hell was talking about any of those women before this. I hate the way the word calculated is used against women, but this is absolutely a case of a calculated play for attention.

      • Anonymous says:

The common thread is to make money of hate, and the internal motive is that a mixed race woman got one of the most coveted men on earth – and not them, the white “princesses in waiting”.

  63. Hiya says:

Most celebrities are helping in less visible and more effective ways right now: They are donating large sums of money. They are using their large platforms to publicize donation drives. They are acting in the official capacity of relevant philanthropic organizations that they are already part of.

If there were a disaster in the UK, it would be expected for a member of the royal family to “tour the damage” of such a disaster and provide some type of emotional support with their presence alone. It does feel like MM wants this type of role in the US. Someone who comes to town to hand out meals, meet with victims, and meet with first responders–during an ongoing disaster that could worsen– is probably someone who feels that their presence alone is helpful and important.

But there are plenty of celebrities in LA. I feel like, unless someone is a truly world famous figure and the equivalent of an American royal— like Beyonce, Michelle Obama, Tom Cruise, Kamala Harris— There are probably less visible and more effective ways for celebrities to help in LA.

    • Resa says:

Meghan and Harry—well let’s remove Harry from this because it’s apparently only Meghan who is in the wrong here, according to your passive aggressive post—have done all that you mentioned: donated and publicized ways for others to do the same. There is no proof that Meghan wishes to behave like the royals in England. If that were the case, she’d be sitting on her ass, being keen, and offering thoughts and prayers, because that is what the royals you refer to, do. Meghan was volunteering, as someone who grew up in LA, to hand out food and assist with the volunteer efforts, and had been there for hours before cameras even spotted her. So please tell me again how Meghan seems to think her presence is enough? Is that why she covered her highly recognizable face with a mask? Refused interviews? And while we’re at it, I would love for you to explain how on earth you came to such an asinine conclusion, when there is ample info—including Kaiser’s articles—that have stated clearly what Meghan and Harry are doing, and have already done for the victims of the fire? Oh, and as mentioned in the mayor’s article, people WERE happy to see her, so even if she hadn’t done anything else, her presence clearly WAS enough.

And while we’re at it, why are you gatekeeping who is famous enough to do what and show up where?

    • somebody says:

And what would Tom Cruise have accomplished by being there? Other famous and non-famous people are there volunteering, why is it an issue that H&M do? Why does that seem like something only “royalty” can do? And Harry and Meghan ARE world-famous.

  64. Moniquep says:

It never ceases to amaze me, that these haters in their efforts to tear down Meghan and Harry only succeed in lifting them higher. But they are so blinded by their hate, that they fail to recognize it.
They also accord so much power to Meghan, that just her simple presence overshadows all. Once it became known that she was there, that’s all anyone was talking about. Harry and Meghan had been around all day and none of the reporters knew. That’s not what I would call attention seeking.

  65. C.Tolentino says:

She has always been jealous of Justin— he got the looks , he is a very talented actor, he is a VERY Loyal Democrat (A sign of Very High Intelligence— he is a member of my TRIBE!!!) He is very Happily married and works ALOT even at 55! He is a Big civil rights activist and is against racism of POC, LGBTQ communitys, minorities and women!! We need a trillion more just like him!! His sister is such a disappointment!! Meghan and Harry are A 1 in my book–Stop the hatred and violence!! There is ONE RACE The HUMAN RACE!!!

  66. AC says:

M was born and raised in LA. Being from LA, She’s been through natural disasters before so she knows what it’s like when local neighbors are in need. We come out together to help. It was the same way when San Diego had their worst fires that destroyed thousands of homes 20 years ago(thank god they didn’t have SM to criticize their every move back then). People from LA and Californians from all walks of life Helped! Same during the Northridge Earthquake in the 90s. Pathetic that outsiders and haters don’t believe in people wanting to help each other during time in need 🙄.

    • sunnyside up says:

Those who don’t believe that others want to help are reflecting their own character.

      • Josie says:

Was wondering why that woman didn’t mention that Meghan and Harry’s Archewell Foundation was quick to donate money to the relief effort. Now there’s a story that would encourage others to give cash so badly needed by survivors of this tragic event. Or she could have mentioned climate change to encourage awareness if she genuinely wanted to help. No? It’s obvious positive assistance doesn’t interest her. She has nothing of value to offer.

  67. eos says:

LOL! I literally drew blank on who Justine Bateman was and had to google her!
To sum up, forgotten 80’s teen actress who’s clout chasing for relevance.

  68. slippers4life says:

OK this is just dumb. I guarantee you there is someone out there working for Murdock offering people cash to go on TV and complain about the Sussexes. How many people turned them down before they got to Justine Bateman? My goodness. I have half a mind to go under cover and use whatever 6 degree separation I have to relevance and tell them I’ll go on camera bashing the Sussexes just to see what kind of money they’re putting out for that sort of thing. Then I’d demand payment up front; go on Fox and just tell all the MAGAts and BM debags to fuck off!

  69. MikeB says:

One question. What have you done Justine to help and make the world a better place? Let’s overlook the fact that it was not known H&M were there, or what the mayor had to say, the UK media found someone to attack H&M and that is all that matters.
Second question. When the royal family turns up at some sort of disaster is that a photo op?

    • Deborah1 says:

@MikeB – You said “When the royal family turns up at some sort of disaster is that a photo op?” When it’s William and Kate it is, if their appearance and fake concern after the Southport stabbings is anything to go by.

  70. L4Frimaire says:

Oh no, Meghan and Harry should just stop helping, not do anything and go back to Montecito because Justine Trump-lover Bateman says so. Because no one asked for her fkn opinion or approval. What has she done besides whine about hoe she was afraid to say anything during the last four years because reasons. Doesn’t she have a rabbit hole to go down?

  71. wolfmamma says:

Hm.. why does your opinion get a story? I mean it – why?
And why aren’t helping your fellow Angelenos who need help. Cuz this ain’t helping anyone

  72. Ladiabla says:

Wow, I used to love Family Ties as a kid, Michael J. Fox was my first crush. Always thought Justine was pretty but didn’t hear much about her except that she had gone to school later on and gotten her degree in computer science or something from UCLA. I was impressed, thought wow, she’s really smart. Hoo boy, not anymore…she’s really been showing her ass lately. Meghan and Harry have always been about service, I mean, what the hell are these people on about? They’ve partnered with Chef Andrés for some time now, why wouldn’t they be there to help?

  73. blunt talker says:

Tell this lady she was born somewhere in New York state-she is not a true native Californian-Meghan was born and raised in California-Ms Bateman does not have the right or knowledge to say who should or should not help victims of the wild fires-her face looks like a wild fire-any help from any sector of society is truly welcomed considering the magnitude of this terrible situation-this evil-minded individual needs to stay in her lane and others help where they can-I wonder if she has donated anything except her vile thoughts. Meghan and Harry will continue to help where they can.

  74. Trex says:

I used to enjoy reading the works of Neil Gaiman until I listened to him on a podcast several years ago and was repulsed. It wasn’t so much what he said – nothing offensive – but the condescending way he spoke about everything during the segment and how the podcaster was fawning all over him was so off-putting. Then the same podcaster interviewed his wife on a later segment, which was just bonkers. I felt like I needed to watch cat videos for hours after listening .

  75. Hannah says:

I don’t even know who this lady is, other than some kind of MAGA supporter. I read today that the Duke & Duchess have taken offence (allegedly) to her false accusations

If this is true, I’m at a loss as to why they would even acknowledge her existence. Ignore her. Don’t feed the trolls. I don’t even wanna know about this nobody giving her 2p

She’s obviously insecure, unhappy and seems to fit the demographic of women who feel they have any business commenting on the Sussexes

Seems like someone needs to feel *relevant*

    • sunnyside up says:

The DM said that “it had been reported” that they were offended, so they don’t actually know if it is true. But the DM has provided another opportunity for people to criticise them for helping out.
