Taylor Swift did not have a good time in New Orleans. Neither did Travis Kelce. Taylor got the hell out of NOLA on Monday, hours after the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl. I still don’t know if Travis left with her, but I don’t think he did. Reportedly, she went to her home in Nashville, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Travis has to be in Kansas City for a few days, even with the loss. I’m sure there’s business to attend to. But after all the dust settles, it sounds like Travis and Taylor are going to take a big vacation.
With the Super Bowl finished and the Eras Tour now in the rearview, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are finally ready for some downtime. A source tells PEOPLE that the high-profile couple will “have a break together” following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 9 in New Orleans, which “was upsetting for everyone.”
“Their lives have been a whirlwind since they first started dating,” the insider says. “Things seem great between them, and they’re incredibly happy together.”
Swift, 35, was a fixture at Chiefs games this past season, often bringing her friends and family members along to cheer from a suite at Arrowhead Stadium. The Super Bowl was no exception, as she brought brother Austin, dad Scott, and friends Ice Spice, Ashley Avignone and Este, Danielle and Alana Haim along to Caesars Superdome to root Kelce, 35, on as the Chiefs sought to become the first team in NFL history to ever win three consecutive Super Bowls.
“She truly loves watching Travis play,” the source adds. Kelce, too, was a fan of watching Swift in her element, as he attended more than a dozen Eras Tour shows — and even joined his girlfriend onstage for a memorable cameo in London. The “Fortnight” singer wrapped the record-shattering Eras Tour in December after almost two years on the road and nearly 150 shows.
As a gossip historian, I feel like I should point out that back when Taylor dated Calvin Harris, they took a long, lovely tropical vacation together… and broke up just a few months later. We were like “aw, they’re so in love, look at their sweet vacation” and soon after, she was on the Worldwide Tiddlebanging Tour. Anyway! That was nine years ago. It will be different this time. Travis is a different guy. Everyone’s older and wiser.
Meanwhile, this video is going viral in a good way – Taylor was seen tipping staffers at a Grammys after-party two weekends ago. She’s been seen handing cash/tips to staffers at Arrowhead when she goes to Travis’s games too. She’s the kind of rich person who keeps fifties and hundred-dollar bills on hand so she can quickly tip people. Like… Taylor isn’t my fave, but I love that she’s not cheap and she gives out generous tips and bonuses.

The tipping is very nice!
It’s also reported that she donated 10 MIL to the fire relief efforts.
Say what you will about her music, she works hard and is generous.
That’s awesome!!
A long vacation and a long distance from BL’s legal mess.
I admit I was wrong. Downhill, I thought, just a quick announcement that they were waiting until after the SuperBowl to say that we are going our separate ways but will always be friends. Looks like a romantic vacation coming up.
Sorry for morning obtuseness, but who/ what is BL?
Oops! Never mind, gleaned proper context from a post below. I guess that’s just how very forgettable that particular celebrity is to me 🤣
@NotSoSocialB exact same reaction as you. So boring and forgettable for me!
Oh, the infamous Tiddlebanging Era. What fun!
I have seen more than one clip of her tipping at events (I feel like at a football game once too?) so this doesn’t suprise me!
I hope they get to relax together. I am looking forward to seeing what’s next for them. I will admit that my Instagram algorithm is a lot less joyful now that the Eras Tour is over. I miss getting to watch that experience. But I wish them rest and happiness and a nice break now!
Oh, I agree, I stopped scrolling TikTok because of the Era tour being done!
I know, I KNOW, her tipping is an exceptionally great thing in American eyes, but I will never ever understand American tipping culture – for me getting money shoved like this by a celebrity seems really condescending, and I KNOW I am the problem, so don’t come at me. And don’t come for Taylor, she is doing a great thing.
Ps. I really don’t understand all the breakup talk, where do you see this. They are doing couple things, all the way.
I hear what you are saying — it’s like you know it is expected, yet that uneasy feeling like you are acting superior or condescending or…it’s just a weird feeling. Tipping on a check doesn’t feel that way, but directly always makes me squirm a little too.
Of course it’s gotten completely out of hand — I saw a tip jar at the check out counter of the liquor store the other day — like dude, you just rang me up?
I went to a coffee shop recently to buy a bag of coffee beans. I got my coffee beans from the shelf, took them to the counter myself to pay for them and the cashier asked me if I’d like to add a tip.
As someone who works in hospitality, I think the point here is this…these people working these events, when doing their jobs well…their sole purpose is to make sure that attendees have the BEST experience. In the case of the lady at the elevator for example, she’s making sure the celelbs get where they need to be in a timely fashion, whether it be to their seats, to their marks, restroom wherever. Sometimes the worker goes out of their way, like above and beyond to do something nice and helpful..and maybe they are paid 10-15 dollars an hour and barely are making ends meet. Those tips are a hey, thanks you did a great job for me and sometimes it’s an incentive for someone to try a little harder at their job so they can get that extra. Just my 2 cents.
It’s an expression of appreciation and anyone who’s been in a service job knows that part at least.
(And if they don’t want to support tipping systems people can back up their convictions and patronize co-operatives and pay the potential extra expense)
@Crystal. I absolutely agree 💯%. If people don’t think tipping should be necessary, they should put their money where their mouth is and make sure people get a decent living wage.
Many Americans do not earn a living wage, so customers are expected to tip to offset corporate greed and provide for employees.
Tipping is a weird cultural thing so I get why it looks strange if it is not part of your culture. It also has a dark past however, if you don’t tip in America the people working in these jobs don’t make a livable wage so while it does look strange what she is doing is lovely. The fact she has to do it so these people have some money is a larger discussion that we as Americans should have.
The break up talk comes from people that hate her and want to be nasty about her because they just want to see her miserable and in a negative light. So it’s just from the same typical misogynistic crap most women in the industry get.
Completely agree with you on American tipping culture. I very much get the generosity, and I live here so no need to explain, but…. There’s just an ick about handing someone cash so publicly, like here I am with all my money deigning to consort with the peasants, and look at what a good person I am! It smacks of superiority, condescension, performative generosity, and feels inauthentic.
And again, no need to explain to me, I get it. This is simply another perspective for those who don’t see it.
Spot on.
It’s an easy way to get an applause for being charitable when you are famous and rich. If you are a nobody, leaving generous tip gets you no public brownies. (Maybe some good karma?) But if it’s all about fairness and building a better society, a living wage without such extreme wealth gap, life would be better for all.
I’m an American who always tips people who are doing a service for me, but even I though that video looked very condescending, Oh look, poor people, I’ll throw money at them. They didn’t do a service for her, why is she tipping them? That’s the part I don’t get. I do love that she’s generous, and it’s her money she can do whatever she wants. I just find that video odd.
I think some people are missing additional context for this. With celebrities, like Taylor, sometimes they will need more people working or because she can’t just leave the game as easily as other attendees due to security concern she has to stay later. That means that sometimes the people working have to stay working later or even delay other tasks. It not just the good service but the extra level of accommodation. Also, in a country where service workers aren’t paid well, I think her tipping is generous but also kind of necessary.
In LA, minimum wage is at least $17/hr, servers will at least get paid that. A few weeks ago, We had tipped our waiter about 20% of the bill, $40 tip . But she was great and we didn’t mind at all. But it’s not the same minimum wage with other states(I’ve read waiters in few states are paid $2-$3/hr and are dependent on tips). It’s funny when MAGAs say that they would support American jobs if the pay was higher but whine when there’s proposals for min wage to increase.
Lol, KC’s loss wasn’t upsetting to me. I hope T&T have a good time.
I hope they do too!
I think I’ve shared this story before, but my nephew’s ex used to work at a restaurant here in NYC where TS was a regular, and literally everyone there loved her and said that she was so down-to-earth and generous. If a busboy so much as brought her party a replacement for a dropped fork, that busboy got a $50 tip. When one of her favorite servers was out with COVID, TS wrote her a thoughtful get-well note, and tipped her extra when she came back to work. Someone’s niece had a birthday coming up? Signed merch. Whatever else anyone wants to say about her, TS knows how to treat people.
I love to hear stories like this. I’m not even really a fan of hers, but it’s great to hear people who have had massive success being kind, generous, and thoughtful to others. It’s how I hope I would be if I had that kind of money!
To me, that would be the most fun part of having a lot of money — spreading it around.
I appreciate TS for this.
I’ve heard the same. Around when TS bought the Rhode Island house a friend’s son worked at an ice cream shop in Mystic (few towns over) and said they loved it when she came in because she was friendly, polite, and left great tips and in cash vs cc so no delay/cc fees on getting the tip. He didn’t say who, but one of the other celebs in the group at that time was not nice at all but only when TS wasn’t looking.
Thanks for sharing this; it made my morning! (I can tell you that Jennifer Garner is another who in private life is extremely kind, hard working, and down to earth; my son worked with her for years with Save The Children.)
If I could go on an extended vacation right now, I would. So, yeah, get it. Being that famous probably makes it harder to travel. Wigs, masks, glasses. Or rent a house in a cool location and hunker down.
100% agree, it’d be nice to have a week away from the news about President Musk.
Previously they’ve rented places in cool locations where they have privacy. Somewhere in the Caribbean, Italy, somewhere unknown in Europe (cute place with old cozy furniture and lots of books), somewhere unknown in France, and I swear to God it looked like Travis was on a large boat one week. If Taylor didn’t buy a ton of offsetting carbon credits it would be really maddening.
I saw a clip of today’s podcast, he was in KC on Tuesday at least. I don’t have super strong feelings about her, other than I like that she is generous. When she gave bonuses to the tours truckers and everyone else, a kid posted that he gets to college now and that made me cry.
I like them together even though I think he’s a famewhore, or famewhore adjacent. But I worry a little that they are best as a couple with a spotlight and work and distance. Too much downtime together and they may fizzle out.
The Kelce’s have been milking any connection to Taylor Swift and the fame attacted like their lives have depended on it. What do they do now?
Most Football player go broke 4 years after they stopped playing. I wonder if the Kelce Bros have netted enough endorsements to keep them afloat if Travis does not get a rich sugar momma to retire with?
I feel like they have over saturated the public to the point we are burned out with the Kelce’s and as much as the SWifties want to deny it. Taylor is connected to Blake Lively’s smear campaign and bullying of Jusitn Baldoni. I hope she is force to testify in court because Justin has receipts.
LOL, the Kelces will be fine. Their podcast was wildly successful before Taylor Swift started dating Travis.
Their mom was a banker, so I’m sure she’s preached financial security to them all their lives. And Kylie Kelce is a commonsense woman who wears jeans and sweatshirts to public outings — they’re not Kardashian wannabes.
Jason and Kylie live basically like other well-to-do Philadelphians: in a large but not ostentatious house; they also have a four-bedroom beach house down the shore (according to the pictures I’ve seen posted on Jersey websites, it’s in the second row of houses off the beach).
@Caitlin: from where did you get that statistic? There was an article years ago in Sports Illustrated that made a claim, but was debunked by an actual study that showed almost 16% of them filed for bankruptcy within 12 years of leaving the league. Still alarming, but much less than what you’re saying. There are lots of factors at play and every situation is different. Most football players aren’t stars at Travis Kelce’s level and don’t make the salary or sponsorship money that he does. I’m guessing he doesn’t need a sugar mama – and if they decide to get married, then they’ll both have good lawyers working on a pre-nup 🙂
Talking about a 3x Super Bowl champ/ future HoFer like he’s some nobody on a practice squad is something else… two seconds on google shows he’s earned over $90mill in his NFL career, without taking into account any earnings from the podcast, ad campaigns etc. The hilarious thing is that 99.9 per cent of celeb women would be accused of wanting him to be their sugar daddy.
And… I suspect for some people who already have all the torches and pitchforks ready, if Taylor does get called to the stand and all that happened was she got name dropped, visited a friend’s house and made some ‘you go girl’ comments, they just won’t care. She’ll probably get accused of perjury.
@Caitlin – Travis has made over $90 million in salary from football so far, and last year he and Jason signed a three year, $100 million contract with Amazon for their podcast. So even without his likely additional endorsement, sponsorship, and partnership income, he should be good for a while without having to lean on Taylor. He’s admitted to early mistakes handling his money (recent People article) but learned along the way. I’ve liked him ever since I read about his involvement with Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City and the building he acquired to set up the Ignition Lab.
I have been tired of hearing about Taylor Swift and seeing her on the cover of magazines for months during her Eras tour; but then, I’m not her ideal demographic and don’t really know her music. But I do like to hear these stories about tipping at the Grammys, behavior in restaurants, the bonuses she gave to the people that worked so hard for her during the tour. Seems like some common ground there between her and Travis. I’ve always through this was more than a PR relationship, and am curious to see how things play out.
why do you hope she is forced to testify? I get not liking her music or thinking she is overexposed — I don’t understand actively wishing her ill will.
Because I think Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are dangerous bullies who need to be exposed. But Ryan and Blake’s behavior has been facilitated by powerful well connected friends not exclusive to but including Taylor Swift
‘Anyway! That was nine years ago. It will be different this time. Travis is a different guy. Everyone’s older and wiser.’
Oh celebitchy….my sweet summer child….
Yes it’s always good when the veil falls on then we are a progressive pro woman site and the truth comes out. It only applies to certain women.
It never fails to make me cackle the difference between how some female celebs are treated in notionally progressive spaces. It’s all ‘how dare they be so sexist in the way they discuss her private life’ for some, and using the same coded misogynistic phrases as the Daily Fail for others… There’s some pettiness with Taylor for reasons that elude me. Maybe I grew up in an era where we didn’t look for popstars to be paragons of progressive politics.
The snide commentary here around Calvin Harris was unnecessary. A lot of people at 35 aren’t going to be moving the same with relationships as they did when they were at 25. And as for everyone getting weird about hoping she gets ‘forced’ into court with the Baldoni mess… there’s a really unsettling undertone of gathering the wood ready to burn the witch.
As far as Taylor and Travis go, it’s celeb relationship with a lot of weird pressure and it won’t be easy dealing with an athlete transitioning to retirement… But honestly I’ve gone from a generic ‘they seem cute’ to hoping they are incandescently happy and outlast Goldie and Kurt or Tom and Rita and not because of twoo wuv but just out of sheer contrary bloody mindedness (mine) at all the online ish.
Haha @camden I also felt that was a bit tongue in cheek, we’ll see.
The difference with Calvin was that while they collaborated together he never seemed to want to highlight her achievements and seemed bothered that she was the bigger star. With Joe they were low key for a long period and also collaborated together but he also seemed conflicted to acknowledge her accomplishments.
Travis has no problems being her biggest fanboy but now that the spotlight is off will they find mutual areas of common interest and collaboration?
I definitely think Trav wants to go into acting and should get a good acting instructor.
I really enjoyed SNL when he hosted (the American Doll Cafe sketch was my favorite), so I hope he does more comedy as a supporting player.
He was great on SNL but if he wants to be more than the meat head Jon Cena, the Rock action hero guy I think he might be able to pull it off too.
That’s the thing with romantic relationships – they all end until one day one doesn’t.
(Also, T&T got papped on a tropical vacation fully a year ago, and it clearly didn’t act as some weird hex on the relationship)
I’m interested to see how this long break works out for them. I’m rooting for them and think they’ll end up engaged/married because they are older and wiser. BUT. This is the first time in their relationship when Trav wasn’t riding high from all that winning. It’s a real test for them. Can she deal with a sulking man baby on their amazing vacation?? Can he be mature enough to keep celebrating her wins after he got dog-walked on a global stage?? I hope so, but we’ll see.
I mean, she was with a guy who couldn’t land a lead role for 7 years, losing doesn’t seem to bother her. And in less petty commentary, she herself has had major losses on major stages, and he’s lost a Superbowl before. This isn’t some weird left hook out of nowhere – they both know how to deal with this kind of thing.
They are both in their mid 30s….I don’t see why they can’t navigate this with grace. Right now, Travis is probably not feeling well. The loss was tough. Its natural but he seems well rounded guy with a healthy mindset so I don’t think it will be an issue. Taylor has faced her share of struggles in spotlight….she can definitely relate on some level. I think they’ll be fine.
It’s really tough moving through being a celebrity athlete at the top of their game to phasing out into retirement. I went through it a long time ago when I had a boyfriend in the NHL. He sustained a terrible injury on ice, got traded around for a bit when he recovered many months later, but his career petered out. He turned to alcohol and died in a one person car accident in the middle of the night and I’m sure he was drunk. Fortunately we weren’t together by then and I was in my first relationship with Mr. Jaded (the second iteration happened in 2015). It was a sad ending for someone who had achieved a lot of success. Not that I’m saying Travis Kelce will go to pieces but it may be a difficult transition for the both of them.
That’s so sad, @Jaded. But you are absolutely right about how hard it is for pro-Athletes as they transition out of their sporting careers. It also is hard because they go for such a busy schedule to so much free time. Also, the Chiefs loss was absolutely crushing which can be hard to get over.
However, i think Travis is so lucky to have such an amazing support network of friends, and family, including Taylor. Plus, Jason has been through the same transition so I think that can only be a help. Alongside all his other interests, that can be an area to focus on and strive to achieve there.
I think there seems like so much love between them and their families so I hope their relationship weathers this time. Who knows, it could make them stronger.
Travis is a sweet guy, I am sure the loss hurts, he has a lot to contemplate about his career because his age is catching up. But I think Taylor and him are still tight as a couple. They can weather this as a unit. You can’t win it all, you make the best effort to navigate it regardless. Really best wishes to both.
