Elon Musk sleeps on the floor of his office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building

On Tuesday, Donald Trump did a press conference in the Oval Office with the president: Elon Musk. Trump was slumped over the Resolute Desk as President Musk conducted the presser, lying through his teeth about what he and DOGE are up to. Trump then signed over more power to Elon and DOGE to run/ruin the federal government. Elon’s son X was there too, and X reportedly told Trump something like “you’re not the president, you need to shut your mouth.” X’s mother Grimes is pissed that Elon has basically kidnapped their son and that Elon is parading X all over Washington and Mar-a-Lago. What’s also notable, I guess, is that President Musk and the dauphin apparently don’t have any kind of residence in Florida or DC. According to People Mag, Elon has been sleeping on the floor of his office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

Elon Musk has reportedly been sleeping on the floor of his government office — located just steps from the White House and President Donald Trump, according to two Republican sources in Musk’s orbit.

Since assuming his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, Musk, 53, has been working out of an office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The EEOB, which houses various agencies within the Executive Office of the President, is part of the White House compound and is situated directly across from the West Wing.

One source tells PEOPLE that Musk has been “holed up” in his DOGE office space recently, including “sleeping on a couch and sometimes the floor.”

The source notes that the EEOB has “great amenities, including a cafeteria and bowling alley,” and says sleeping where you work is not entirely unheard of in Washington, sharing how some House members “sleep in their offices and shower in the House gym.”

The source adds that Musk’s 4-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii — whom he shares with singer Grimes — “is around quite a bit” as well, though it’s unclear if the boy also sleeps in the EEOB.

A second source — who also tells PEOPLE that Musk has been sleeping on the floor of the EEOB when he’s in Washington — adds that he stays at Mar-a-Lago when he and the president go to Florida.

[From People]

These people are such losers, my god. All of that money and access and he just sleeps on the floor. I bet X is shuffled off to some hotel with his nanny or whatever, it’s not like Elon cares about the kid as anything other than a prop. There was that post that was like… these are not evil geniuses, they’re methheads stealing the copper wiring out of what’s left of America. That’s what this is. Anyway, Trump should just let the president sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom?

Speaking as a Canadian who right now really hates Trump cuz of the tariffs, America is in decline. SMH 🤦‍♀️

    • Alicky says:

      Decline? More like free fall.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

We crashed and burned on November 5th, 2024.

      • Kit says:

Agree. But I expand it further. It’s not just the moral and political decline.

While Trump +Musk form a duo dictatorship, other countries are proofing themselves against US absurdity. They are forming alliances. Europe and Japan will build stronger military, will be less dependent on US. US loses markets while other countries gain.

While these countries suffer like the US in these war of words and deeds, countries that move on from the US will be more independent and no longer willing to follow US lead. Canada already has united. Look at Quebec— we are Canadians.

Trump + Musk underestimate that by making US a pariah, they unite countries in factions that will usurp US power long term. The whole enemy of my enemy is my friend. While Trump and Musk don’t care, everyday Americans do. But it’ll be too late. Look at how long, hard, and COSTLY things have been for the UK to try to build back relationship and trade with the EU. They lost manufacturing and subsidies. There were wholesale manufacturing shutdowns and move of big financial offices to EU after Brexit.

    • Flowerlake says:

I’m not Canadian, but I’m also unsubscribing to services with CEOs that are Trump supporters.

After the crap Disney just pulled, they are my most recent “bye bye”.

I have never used Amazon, so that one was easy.
Twitter is also out long ago. Bluesky is much better anyway.

Tesla sales in Europe are… well, I invite everyone to look it up themselves because it’s more fun to read the articles about it yourselves.

Hint: they’re not good and that’s putting it VERY mildly.

      • Kit says:

Well Trump admin in its zeal pulled the fundings to build charging stations across the US hwy system. Not exactly helping Tesla in the US either.

But Musk will make way more $$$ and gain more power by letting Tesla suffers some collateral damage. Woe to anyone needing auto parts or new battery in the future. Or a new car.

Musk envisions building a new apartheid nation here, hence the fed mass firing and control of its funding disbursement system. By accessing citizens private info, Musk wants to social engineer US into his partition world. Even if his plan fails, the destruction of America that Musk hates is successful. That’s all that mattered. And he still gets richer in the process.

    • HillaryIsAlwaysRight says:

National day of protest this Monday, February 17, ‘Not My Presidents Day’, in Washington DC at the Capitol Reflecting Pool, and in front of city and village halls all over the country. Fiftyfifty.one

200,000 people just filled the streets of Munich 5 days ago, to protest the AfD, a neo-Nazi party that is not even in power yet. Americans need to protest!

Keep calling your members of congress, and state and city reps. We all have to stand up to fascism

      • Flowerlake says:

@HillaryIsAlwaysRight thanks for providing this info.

There have indeed been huge protests all over Germany in the last few weeks. And I mean, daily. There is always some protest going on somewhere, but the ones on or near the weekend are the biggest.

I saw posts about Fiftyfifty.one on Bluesky already. Even though I’m not from the US, I will help spread and amplify.

Finally, I would like to say that people are also protesting for many weeks now in the country Georgia, against a corrupt, Putin-influenced government.
And protests in South Korea recently helped prevent a right-wing coup.

      • Blithe says:

Question : Do you — or anyone—know anything about a shopping blackout boycott planned for February 28th? I think something like that could really have an impact. Making our dollars holler will impact businesses which then will have a chance of impacting politicians— before the economy craters.

      • HillaryIsAlwaysRight says:

@Blithe: I do see info on a national boycott of oligarch businesses on Feb. 28 on Reddit. You can get updates from 50501 on Reddit too. I cancelled by Amazon Prime right after the inauguration, and stopped shopping at Whole Foods and Zappos. Bezos has his hands in trying to destroy the Dept of Labor. All of these large companies are abandoning DEI. They don’t need our money anymore. (And I’ve never used anything owned by Musk or Zuckerburg, the original misogynist tech bro.)

      • LightPurple says:

Blithe, yes, there is a shopping boycott planned for February 28. Not sure who the organizers are but the plan is to not buy anything on that day and if you do have to buy anything, do so from local small businesses – example: skip Starbucks and Dunkins and make your coffee yourself or get it from some nearby, owner-operated small shop.

      • Blithe says:

Thanks Y’all! I appreciate the information re: the shopping boycott. I really like the plan to support small owner-operated shops as alternatives. February is also a particularly good time to support Black-owned businesses as well.

      • Kit says:

        Boycott on the 28th. Absolutely,

I don’t know about people here, but I’ve been shopping less. Eating out far less. Our group of neighbors and friends are acting similarly. It’s not a planned thing, just reading the room and planning ahead. My co-workers are back in the “office” and eating in.

This will affect the companies. People cut back on spending because they have less to spend squeezes businesses. More layoffs, etc. It’ll be interesting as Trump makes his trillion dollar tax reductions permanent which most Americans wont benefit from. You can bet as tax revenues dry up, local taxes will go up as federal spendings and services are cut.

    • Ponydog says:

Absolutely agree. And I live here, and in a blue state.

    • Kate says:

We…are aware. I thought that was clear?

  2. Megan says:

Aw, I heard this faux heroic crap before. Elon, working along side his Tesla employees, never left the office for a week, even slept there.

2022: Elon Musk says sleeping on factory floors was important so Tesla employees would ‘give it their all

  3. Flamingo says:

NPR just posted a story the Trump Administration is set to buy 400 million worth of armored Teslas.

Philanthropy my ass, there was always a financial motive behind it. DOGE was just the smoke and mirrors to try and make it look legit.

    https://www.npr.org/2025/02/13/g-s1-48571/trump-administration-order-400-million-worth-of-armored-teslas

    • DaveW says:

Robert Reich did an amazing TikTok on government spending/waste and noted SpaceX, owned by Musk, has one of if the not biggest of the biggest government contracts. Betting DOGE is not examing waste there, huh?

I also skimmed an article that Felon47 is looking into some sort of funding for white South African farmers. Admittedly I did not read the entire story but my initial thought is President Musk and F47 are full on trying to bring apartheid back to Musk’s birth country.

  4. Me at home says:

Minor detail, but he’d have to go to the White House commissary for food. Treasury on the other side of the WH lost its cafeteria two decades ago and I believe the same is true of the EEOB. Other high-level appointees, like Treasury Secretary Rubin, at least took a suite in a nearby hotel, which is what somebody with social skills would do.

Wonder if poor X sleeps on the EEOB floor with him? This story doesn’t make sense unless Musk has set X up with a nanny in a nearby condo or hotel.

    • Megan says:

Musk is a sad and lonely man.

      • HillaryIsAlwaysRight says:

And a child abuser. X is living in what conditions? And he kept X away from Grimes for at least 6 months last year, while he dodged her lawyers and violated her parental rights.

    • BeanieBean says:

Members of Congress have been known to sleep in their offices, because housing prices are so high in DC & they’re all maintaining their homes in their home states. It’s usually the junior members doing that, the ones who can’t afford a second home. All this corporate reporting on muskrat’s ‘quirks’ rather than the destruction he’s rendering is making me sick.

      • Lightpurple says:

When a large group of tea party members started doing that several years ago, it resulted in an increase of sexual harassment payouts to congressional staff.

  5. aquarius64 says:

Trump’s staff have Musk in the Eisenhower building to stamp out stories that Musk is getting an office in the West Wing. Being that close to the Oval makes Musk as powerful as Trump, so they thought. That press conference was a glorified take your kid to work day. You don’t let a child run wild during a press conference while giving policy, even whack ones. Musk’s son mouthing off at Trump just reflects what Musk really thinks of Orange-zilla. The media may not report it but the damage is done thanks to the internet and social media: Elon Musk is the true power in the US and Trump is at best a figurehead who rubber stamps Musk’s quest for world domination.

    Hitler reincarnated or worse

  7. NotMika says:

Also Canadian – I hate Trump for the racism, misogyny and deep pain he is causing my American friends. And then the tariffs.

  8. M says:

I hope the floor polishing machine runs him over

  9. Brassy Rebel says:

I refuse to call this child X, but his mother should go to court and sue for custody. The possibility that he might be sleeping in an office building is enough to involve Child Protective Services.

    • TheOriginalMia says:

They were in court, in California, I believe, before Elon used his money to move everything to a much friendlier jurisdiction in Texas. Grimes hasn’t been permitted to see her children in months.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

Parental alienation. If we had a nation of laws, this creep would be arrested and charged with kidnapping. I have a feeling this will be the new normal. Men can just remove children from any contact with their mothers. MAGA will sanction it.

    • Murphy says:

Can’t be super easy to sue the de-facto president of the USA and richest man in the world.

    • Mandragora says:

How do you fight a custody battle against the richest guy in the world who is also the shadow POTUS?

    • MMRB says:

WHY bother, Felon will just dismantle the branch…. sigh

  10. Smart&Messy says:

Little X says it as it is.

    • Jennifer says:

I have very little hope that lil’ X doesn’t come out awful, but this moment of the insults and boogers was just plain GREAT.

  11. ThatGirlThere says:

Musty is a scourge on this country and planet at large. That baby is probably sleeping in that office closet.

  12. Joanne says:

The worst thing is that Trump hasn’t even been president for a month and it’s complete chaos. He’s alienating all traditional allies and cosying up to Putin.

  13. Jillian says:

The kid isn’t a prop, he’s a human shield – that’s why that fucking ghoul carries him around on his shoulders. Security is also why he’s sleeping at the office, let’s not all be so silly here. He’s a jackass but he knows there are people looking to take a shot

    • BeanieBean says:

he’s not getting secret service protection yet? What do you want to bet that trump eventually authorizes it?

    • MMRB says:

Exactly, i (believe) if my old lady memory serves me correctly, that there is an underground tunnel between the buildings

      • Me at home says:

Yes there are tunnels between the buildings. The entrances were a pretty well-guarded secret, but if you stayed a while you’d learn eventually where they were. Apparently there used to be tunnels from the White House that went all the way to Union Station (train station) back in the days of WWII, not sure if these tunnels still function.

    • Moira'sRosesGarden says:

Yeah, a sniper might not take a shot at his head but that person could literally put a bullet through its heart (if there is one encompassed in the gelatinous bag of sh*t that should be sent back to Africa.) And that kid’s not big enough to cover both his empty head & the chest.

  14. TheOriginalMia says:

Someone on Bluesky posted yesterday that Elon was popping edible Ketamine during the press conference. Said some new employee of DOGE is his supplier through her husband’s company that sells oral/nasal ketamine. Gonna be more drug use in the WH like last time.

    • orangeowl says:

Elon seems unhinged and people were just yukking it up during that insane press conference. I posted yesterday (I think) that it was the most surreal moment for me in the Trump era and there have been many. Just when we think it can’t get any worse or crazier, it does. Yet so many average Americans are going about their business like everything’s fine. I am losing my damn mind.

    • Arhus says:

Have you heard of the book ‘Blitzed’ by Norman Ohler? All about the copious amounts of drugs taken in the nazi regime. Coke, heroin, morphine, methamphetamines. Hitler, Goering, down to the soldiers.

      • Deering24 says:

Drugs was one of the main reasons the German army started crumbling from within. (By the time Hitler attacked Russia, in fact.) Meth was sold as a military wonder drug, but by the time Nazi military doctors tried to correct the damage, it was way too late.

  15. Arhus says:

The kid is definitely a prop- brings him out in public as an anti-assassination assurance. That’s why the kid is always riding on his shoulders.

  16. Ula1010 says:

I hate that he and his minions are squatting in the People’s Buildings as if it was one of their start ups. I’m also irritated that the press stood there and let musk rattle on about the people voting for getting rid of “waste.” No, they didn’t. The media hit us over the head with the price of eggs.

  17. QuiteContrary says:

Musk had the gall to talk about the unelected bureaucracy … when he’s an unelected oligarch hijacking our government.

I hope Trump enjoys the faustian bargain he made with Musk. The humiliation of that presser is just the start.

  18. Deanne says:

Does that little boy ever get to spend time with children his own age? Does he have any time with his siblings and Mother, or is he dragged around by his Nazi loving Father 24/7? The kid is up at all hours, carted off to other countries and seems to have no schedule at all. It’s disgusting to watch. His drug addict Father is holding him hostage and using him as a human shield. It’s horrifying.

  19. Amy says:

My office is across the street from the Old EOB so this is my work hood. There are PLENTY of hotels around here within a few blocks. That’s a choice and a stupid one.

  20. Nina says:

If Musk weren’t the richest man on the planet, people would definitely be a lot more suspicious about his weird behaviour.

Aside from the crap he’s pulling within the US government, why aren’t mainstream journalists raising questions about why he spends so much time online talking to teenage boys?

“He’s just rich and eccentric! He’s autistic!”

No, he’s a grade A creepnik, and if he were your minimum wage-earning neighbour, you’d be disturbed by him.

  21. catJ says:

From Newsweek -I just read about the Save Act Bill that could prevent married women from being able to register to vote. Much of the documentation listed under the Save Act is based on having a birth certificate that matches the person registered to vote. However, as many as 69 million married women in the US have changed their legal names since getting married, meaning their name doesn’t match their birth certificate, per the Center for American Progress.

This is just the beginning for Project 2025.

    • Maja says:

      Yes 😱💯

    • MMRB says:

then its time for ladies to start considering what they do in Quebec, you dont take your husbands name unless you married out of the Province.

Change your name back! it’s 2025, and its an antiquated process anyway.

    • Gail Hirst says:

I read that article too, and kind of lost my mind. Then I realized it was an article from The Onion! So probably not true…..yet…..

  22. Rapunzel says:

Call me crazy, but I wonder if Elon is doing this in part because he is worried if he leaves the WH, Trump might not let him back in. If I’m Elon, I’m worried Trump might be convinced to ditch me if I’m not by his side 24/7.

    • jais says:

If Trump, with his massive ego, lets this continue then it’s confirmation that Musk has information he doesn’t want out. The fact that a little booger kid just owned him in front of cameras and Trump is still letting Musk go on this free for all….something ain’t right.

  23. Maja says:

Musk is doing the dirty work for Trump that he and his children don’t want to do. E will let him do it as long as he is useful to him. Then he will betray him, just like he betrayed everyone he got to do his dirty work. I have no sympathy for Musk, but if he really is autistic, can’t read emotions and has trouble properly assessing attachments, he won’t realise the danger until it’s too late.

  24. Swaz says:

I just want to wake up when all this is over 😳😳

  25. Lau says:

In order for them to be evil geniuses it would require them to be intelligent, which they are not.

  26. AC says:

I’ve been trying to avoid the news if I can on the Musk/Trump administration. Biden built one of the best U.S. economies- had more manufacturing come back, more patents and innovation than any country, Produced more oil than any country, had the most new startups than any country(from early stages to unicorns. no other comes close), the U.S. owns 2/3s of the world equities, it did not go into a recession compared to Japan and the UK, and it was the only country growing post pandemic compared to the rest of the G7. He and Kamala gave us a backup insurance policy for a bit, but the world is going to start to catch up as we have lunatics in our govt. That’s what enemies of the U.S. wants. And I’ve mentioned this before – With Biden and his administration they saw the U.S. unstoppable. With Musk and Trump, they will weaken this country’s position.
The MAGAs will be in a FAFO stage. I don’t think they realized they actually voted for President Musk.

  27. MerlinsMom1018 says:

Because if he leaves someone may lock him out is my take

    • MMRB says:

well, this, and also it’s the biggest sign of a narcissistic micro-manager, who can’t let anyone else steer the ship – remember, he did this when he took over twitter, after doing the same thing as Tesla. His playbook is old and tired, nothing is interesting about him – we all know that he’s a controlling lunatic, not a driven over-achiever.

  28. Oxford says:

If Musk was a woman sleeping with her child in her office or on her office floor, CPS would be summoned. Seriously. Someone should make sure this kid is ok.
Is DC CPS run by the federal government or the state?

  29. Anna Nonymous says:

Muskrat! Felon! Elon Musty! I love these names everyone. Don’t lose heart, don’t lose faith. No one can destroy America. You cannot kill a dream. Every country has a lifespan, a process of actions that the nations go through. To expect America to be perfect was never realistic. Life is messy. I agree that it’s a money and power grab. If that many people voted for Trump and his followers, then here you go. Have at it you idiots. You want to drain the swamp? Do you know how important swamps and estuaries are to the environment? If you drain away everything you believe is bad what is left? Everything you think is good, which is pro business anti lgbtq, anti green new deal anti consumer anti regulation anti environment. What do they stand for? Greed, misogyny, destruction of laws and institutions that help the American people. They dismantled the consumer financial protection bureau. Cfpb. Why? Because it protects consumers from being over charged or taken advantage of by credit card companies and predatory businesses doing shady things to Americans. Now they’re going after fema? Federal emergency response association. What if there’s a natural disaster? This clown show is back in power. For the last time. May he and his lackies fade away into pitiful derision and obscurity, forever as laughing stocks, pariahs, persona non gratas. Avoided, looked down on as the selfish smug shallow obnoxious greedy short sighted uneducated lowest of the low garbage human beings for actively dismantling the Government we’ve carefully thoughtfully built. He will leave and we will heal. Let us not panic y’all. I love you all. It’s going to be okay! We are going to get through this. We are going to have dignity and power once again, noble, charismatic integrity. For doing the right thing, in the name of Freedom and fairness, equality charity justice and giving everyone a fair chance to succeed.
