Here are some photos of Prince Harry in Whistler for Wednesday’s Invictus events. Harry was cheering on the competitors and he did at least one medal ceremony, and posed with the medalists afterwards. Judging solely from the photos, it looks like everyone is having a blast. Invictus’s first “winter games” have been very popular with the veterans and the families, although I do wonder if anyone has busted their ass on all of the ice and snow. Anyway, Harry gave an exclusive interview to People Magazine at the games. Some highlights, directly from Harry (and please keep this interview in mind whenever you guys complain about how we can’t take People’s royal coverage seriously – Harry literally gives exclusives to People).
Harry loves Canada: “It’s incredible to be back in Canada. Canada couldn’t be more appropriate to host the first Winter Games. Everyone is so excited.”
He loved having Meghan with him for the first four days or so: “To have my wife here supporting me is amazing. I love that she’s by my side,” Prince Harry tells PEOPLE. “It’s such an important piece to this whole adventure.”
He’s already looking ahead to the next tournament in Birmingham, England, in 2027. “It’s amazing how, after 10 years, we’re still doing this. We will continue the Games for as long as it’s needed — and the need is increasing rather than reducing. So the fact that there will be a full cycle back to the U.K. is a place that I never thought we would be. I wish that we could close this down because there wasn’t a need for it, but as long as there’s a need for it, we will keep it going. I know the U.K. is looking forward to having the Games back to where it started.”
Whether they’ll do another winter games: “I’ve already had lots of people come up to me and ask whether there’s going to be a continuous cycle of Winter Games, and the answer to that is, we’ll have to wait and see! But everyone is very happy to be here.”
The Opening Ceremony in Vancouver: “What a way to start — a sold-out stadium in front of 40,000 people. It had a very Olympic, Paralympic feel to it. It was great.”
His kids love learning about Invictus: “They are fascinated. It’s a very interesting conversation to have with your kids — to explain why that person is missing a leg, why that person is missing an arm, why do they look the way they do. It’s challenging but important. Our kids are still so young, but Archie, especially, is asking those questions,” Harry, a former captain in the British Army, says of his son. “As any parent knows, once you open that door and those questions are asked, or that conversation starts, more and more doors start opening. And then he starts asking, ‘How did they get injured? What’s a mine? What’s all this?’ It becomes opening Pandora’s box, to some extent, especially with kids this age, because they have no filter, and they’re just so curious and so inquisitive!” the Duke of Sussex says. “They want to know more, more, more.”
He tries talking about those topics in an age-appropriate way. “I’m constantly trying to make sure that I get it right, in explaining what’s happened to [the competitors], and what we do at Invictus to try to make their lives better and give them a chance to redefine themselves. And the power of sport,” Harry says, expressing his hope that his children will also find joy in athletics. “I’m hoping that my kids will take on every sport that they want as well, because I think it’s really important for all of us.”
He plans to tell the kids all about the winter games: “I’m going to tell them all the stories. After we came back from Düsseldorf [for the 2023 Invictus Games] a year and a half ago, I sat down and went through lots of photographs that I had. They were fascinated to see these guys, careering around the field in wheelchairs, playing basketball, wheelchair rugby, sitting volleyball, everything.”
I love that he describes Archie and Lilibet as so curious about Invictus, and I’m sure they are – and it makes me wonder why Harry and Meghan didn’t just bring the kids to Canada. I’m not saying that Archie and Lili should have been front and center for all of the events, but let them come to the Opening Ceremony? Still, I understand why Harry & Meghan didn’t bring the kids. People have been obsessed with seeing those two ginger babies for years, and there’s a lot of lunacy around all of it. That will become one of the next storylines too – “will the Sussexes bring their kids to the UK for the Birmingham games?” I hope not, but it’s a long way away (July 2027).

Tom bower was there, that alone makes me grateful they didn’t take the kids. But yeah the preoccupation people have with them is really disturbing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go when older but I can’t even imagine how they will handle the crazies. I just keep thinking about that weirdo who asked Charlotte for a selfie and that was in a rather subdued royally environment not somewhere high energy like invictus.
Very disturbing that bower showed up
I thought that no one in the BM were allowed to be at any of M & H’s events…? Did he get kicked out? Even if he says that he’s not there “representing” the media, he is part of it nonetheless.
Very disturbing. Just hearing about this.
So Bowers decided to stalk the games. Where is security when you need them.
The children were not there thankfully, so he could not try to get photos.
The lack of armed security is the reason Harry and Meghan’s children were not at Invictus Canada. At such a public event it would have impossible to keep them safe. The proof of danger was seeing Tom Bower there, the man who recently called for the destruction of the Sussexes with the dire warning, that if they weren’t destroyed or words to that effect it would be the end of the royal family. Seeing him creep to within a couple of meters of Meghan made my skin crawl. When Black US journalist Petol confronted him, he slid away as fast as he could, refusing to answer her question. Had he arranged something nasty for Meghan? He’s mentally unstable and calling for Meghan’s demise should be ringing alarm bells for everyone. He should be on a ‘no fly’ list at the very least.
Yeah…..I’m just glad that Petol got in that azz😜 he was shook
Harry has gone to England three or four times. And the only photo’s of him are when he get’s out of a car wherever he’s supposed to be. Who knows Archie and Lilly could be there with a nanny and at different events. And who would notice. Some woman with two little kids running around. And that would make Meghan having to leave even more urgent. Because kids that age couldn’t take the whole week. They meet up on the plane and get home together.
I saw the video on bluesky, the man literally gives me chills, he is stalking Meghan and I’m glad that she is no longer at the games, and home safe with the kids. Something is seriously wrong with TB he comes across very sinister and shady and I personally don’t believe Meghan is safe physically (not just mentally) with him near her.
What a great interview. Honest and real, you can tell these are his words, not those of a “PR spokesperson.” I was touched by his discussion of Inviticus with Archie, you can tell that he really thought about what he was saying to his son and what was age appropriate…
In terms of bringing the kids, I thought it would be needed just because of the noise about deportation and Harry but thankfully that seems to have ended for now. Otherwise, I think the Sussex children are quite young to be on camera. Wasn’t the first appearance of George when he was 6 years old, at the Sandringham Christmas walk? Harry talks about being traumatized at 12 years old at Diana’s funeral (granted, that was an entirely different situation than a casual public appearance) but I can understand Harry and Meghan not being ready to put them in front of the public yet
What I remember him saying about it was that all those people who didn’t know her were crying and he wasn’t allowed to do so. It sounds so sad.
There’s a video of Meg when she made it to the bottom of the tubing hill and she said Harry was doing something with the 10y/os. They definitely have kid appropriate activities so maybe Archie will go in 2027? But to be honest, I’d rather the kids go to literally any other country for their safety.
I hope both children get to go In 2027. But I doubt charles will change his views by then.
I absolutely hope that they don’t go anywhere near the UK…. Its a shame, but its not safe…..and not because of Chuck… But because of the derangers.
Agreed, the British media has whipped up so much hate for the Sussexes, there is no chance Harry and Meghan will bring the kids to the U.K. I’m willing to bet they haven’t even decided if Meghan will go. The rota is so shortsighted, it’s unbelievable. No one will blame Meghan if she skips Birmingham, and the fact of the matter is she brings more eyeballs to the Games, and the British media would be eating out for weeks about her attendance alone, never mind the actual competition.
One of the things I appreciate about the IG is how, aside from the competitions, they really try to make it a fun experience for the kids and families.
@jais I’m also enjoying the service dog coverage. They really do their best to leave no stone unturned.
Yes! The service dog pictures have been on point. Looking so cute. Thank you, IG for that coverage.
He also said at IG that Archie asked about landmines and Harry explained but it also went to Harry talking to Archie about what Diana did re landmines and they ended up watching videos together.
Ntw I think they are waiting for the kids to be a bit older.
Talk about land mines started because Archie wanted to know why the competitors were missing arms and legs.
btw I hope that South Korea gets the 2029 IG and Archie&Lili turn up there
This is a good interview and I’m glad that they’re speaking to their kids about invisible and visible injuries and explaining to them how they occurred. People seem to think that kids can’t handle knowing about certain subjects, but as he said you just have to make it age appropriate. As far as bringing them, I think that they are at an age right now where consistency is more important.
If they were older or younger it may be easier to take them out of school to come, but now if they came they would just disrupt their schedule to have them in a hotel room, and see them late at night or early morning.
I’ve done tons of conferences for my job and you are spending all day doing something associated with that conference from 7:00 a.m. to midnight at some points. Whether that’s breakfast meetings, seminars, main keynote speakers, cocktail hours, dinner parties, etc. It’s exhausting and that’s me at a mid-manager level I can’t imagine if I was a founder of an organization.
This makes a lot of sense. And I think that both parents, having worked before in high energy jobs, understand exactly what you said, there’s not much time for the kiddies. So, it’s not reasonable for Archie and Lili’s schedules to be disrupted unnecessarily. I appreciate your comment.
Yes, H&M are there working, not on vacation. Both kids are too young now to attend. It’s not just one events, it’s many events that H&M need to participate in front & behind the camera, they’re busy there. Besides, this Flu season seems to be in the peak in several countries worldwide, it’s safer for young children to stay put.
People Mag has several staff writers on Royal beat, some are neutral, some…make me side-eyed them. In the end, people Magazine is still a PR outlet for celebrities & ordinary people. Even the tones of People Magazine’s more “serious” “People Magazine Investigates” articles & shows are tend to be more “entertainment”, “gossipy” than true crime reports.
Agree re: People. Many on here are quick to write off their coverage and say things like “no one in the Sussex camp is talking to People” but Harry has given several exclusives to People over the years (remember he had a cover story when Spare was released) so its clear there is some sort of working relationship there.
It looks like the winter games are a huge success, they seem to have relatively nice weather for it – cold but sunny.
I think if/when they start bringing the kids to Invictus we might not know.
As with any coverage of the Sussexes, it depends more on who the author is verses the outlet, and if the Sussexes or their employees authorized the report
I believe people here say no one in the Sussex camp is leaking and/or feeding certain narratives to People. There’s a difference between giving an on the record interview or authorizing your folks to speak on your behalf and put their names behind their comments, and hiding behind “unnamed sources” to leak stories and push a certain narrative. Let’s not conflate the 2.
Excellent reply, @Lawrenceville.
The Sussexes are not averse to talking to media……..just the british shitrags which H&M have NAMED as media that the would no longer co-operate with, as in: no longer respond to their queries.
And if theres anyone who wishes to know why that is so, heres a headstart on your research:
Search Ques.:
Harry and Meghan’s statement on media that they will no longer cooperate with in the uk.
ANSWER:
“In January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they would no longer cooperate with certain media outlets in the UK. The couple said they would restrict access to media outlets that publish false or invasive stories. They also said they would bypass the royal rota when releasing photos.”
(PS: This ^ is just a precis of the answer.)
Didn’t they take a People journalist with them to Nigeria?
My wife! Love it. He spoke really well about the IG and conversations with his kids. I’m gonna laugh though if Archie ends up not being into sports. My brother in law really wanted my 5 yr old nephew to get into baseball and after two seasons my nephew is saying no more😂. They do like to fish together though so that’s sweet. It’s probably more about finding the right sport or physical activity.
I caught that too! Just straight up referring to his legal spouse as his wife like that’s exactly what she is. Heads must be exploding.🤣
LOL! How dare he acknowledge his life partner and mother of his children!/s What’s wrong with him?/s
@Chrissy.
I know! I know!
He’s in love, and takes his marriage vows seriously. He’s like byotches, here’s my wedding ring, you don’t and never had a chance with me.
And this is what is making the loonies crazy. Hehe he!
Anyone who can look at H&Ms interactions and call them fake or made up, are seriously missing several screws upstairs!!!!
Taking kids out of school for an Invictus Game is a bit much to me. Being around the crowds and veterans with their injuries would be an awful lot for young kids who have not experienced this through a parents injury. It is one thing to tell a child about this through photographs but to actually see and be surrounded by the types of injuries these veterans suffered could be overwhelming at a young age and possibly trauma inducing. I am all for sharing photos and talking about this age appropriately but not introducing this to them in a public forum especially with the amount of interest in those children.
There are events in IG for kids. Especially Meghan is participating in those to read to children. I am sure, if they bring their kids, they would go to this kind of events. They meet a lot of veteran families. They would have a good idea what is appropriate for kids.
The interview was Harry being his joyful self, the way we’ve seen him, with Meghan and without, these past few days.
He sadly is right about there being a continuous need for initiatives like Invictus. The way things are going right now, we’re closer than ever to a Russian vs. all-European war, after NATO’s been put in a disarray by Felon47’s maladministration. The way 🟠 went above Ukraine’s head in mentioning that there won’t be a country for much longer. They way Hegseth was booed here in Germany. The way everyone besides Hungary and Italy are hostile to Vance and Hegseth ahead of the Munich Security Conference. One can actually feel the political climate getting worse than it has been for decades.
Plus today’s terrorist attack in Munich that left ~ 30 injured, including kids, some critically, that will result in strengthening the right and fascist parties ahead of our elections on the 23rd. This makes me despair for the future of our country, and it will also bring us a step closer to a regime where science, climate and medical facts are threatened.
And as long as there are all kinds of unhinged Derangers out there — see Meghan’s baby shower and car chase in NYC, or the incident in LA while they were handing out supplies to passing cars during COVID (?) where a Deranger got close and even boasted online about it (she’s in pics of the event) — the kids are at risk.
The same woman from the baby shower (in a kerchief to protect her ID while she was screaming at a police officer) was at Windsor the day Archie was born. Took photos and boasted about how close she could get to Frogmore Cottage. tumblr did nothing about her, nor did the police.
People is not above citing unnamed sources and copying articles from the British tabloids so I will continue to question the veracity of some of their stories about Harry and Meghan. But the question doesn’t come up when Harry actually gives an interview to People. It was a good interview and it was nice to hear about the children. The British press were so sure that Archie and Lili were going to be in Vancouver and I think that’s part of the reason why they didn’t go. I think they’re still too young to be put in the spotlight and it’s probably the main reason why they didn’t attend. I don’t expect to see them in Birmingham either for obvious reasons.
Yeah, People has no problem taking KP’s talking points and running with them re. the Sussexes. This is an interview that Harry planned, so I will remain skeptical every time it’s a puff piece on the Wails with obvious talking points.
Honestly the more time goes by and I see how the obsession with them never ends, the more I hope those kids are never shown to the public. Let them live anonymous lives as much as possible.
This! Harry has stated that he was traumatized by being forced to walk behind his mother’s coffin while millions of strangers around him mourned and wanted physical contact with the him. I hope the Sussex kids enjoy a private childhood free of the stress of public exposure. Just my opinion. 🤷
In my opinion minor children should not be in the public eye and should have a completely private upbringing if possible. They cannot consent to having their image shared.
Agree.
Also IG isn’t about Harry and Meghan and the kids. The focus is on the vets and their families. I think H&M are aware of the media craziness and the last thing they want is IG to become a circus. You know if the kids were there, their little faces would be splashed on the tabloids and NYT, CNN and the Post with unflattering narratives— pitting the kids against the real humble, noble, and “royal” cousins. I haven’t seen much IG coverage in the American MSM news, but have noticed they tend to cover Kate deferentially.
I’m good if the kids are not out in public. Security cost is expensive and these kids are being treated as commodities by the opportunistic media and nasty royal fan fiction writers.
I completely agree with you, it wouldn’t surprise me if we never see Archie and Lili’s faces again until they are adults.
I wouldn’t blame them for wanting to keep the kids to themselves for a little longer. It’s a precious time and it will go by fast. By the time they’re teens they’ll probably be in the public eye whether they want to be or not.
If Archie and Lili showed up while they’re still so young, they could really pull focus from the competitors and events, quite aside from the fact that they need to be looked after and their parents are working hard and devoting themselves to the competitors all day. Now, Harry and Meghan make a point of interacting with the children of the competitors. I think many of the competitors bring their children, and Invictus seems to organize events for families, and the focus should be on the Invictus families. People would be wild about Harry’s family, and draw a lot of attention that should go to them. I think there will be an interview with CTV in Canada this evening with the evening news anchor.
The winter games look great and hope they do another combo games like this again, maybe in a Nordic country or France/Italy. Also the fact that Brazil is there this year, maybe we’ll have the games in Latin America.I love how the games innovate and experiment with different adaptive sports. The cultural aspects involving the First Nations is truly significant and touching. If the Sussexes brought the kids, it would be a feeding frenzy and distract from their focus of the veterans and the competitions. Maybe when they are older but right now I get why they didn’t bring them. I’m glad he emphasized how important having Meghan there with him is. She’s been part of Invictus since 2017 so it’s toring when each games the usual suspects complain as though she’s just showing up for the first time and then obsessing over her being there like that creepy Bower guy. My main complaint is being able to see the games because it’s on Espn+. They need more free live feeds.
Harry and Meghan seem to be a true partnership. It’s lovely.
And I hope there are more winter games, even if Meghan never goes on a snow tube again LOL. The competitors are amazing.
drive over😁
The obsession with their children has always made it clear that they will continue to protect and shield them as much and for as long as possible. So the questions of “while they?” or “won’t they?” or “when will they?” has always seemed like people haven’t seen or respected all of the decisions they have made to protect their children since the very beginning. The UK media and royal family have created this environment where two people who would have likely shared more of their lives with us, have made decisions to protect their children from deranged people who have attacked and at times threatened them and their children’s lives. As a fan and a supporter, I completely understand that and there has never been all been question of it because the safety of their children will always outweigh anything else they might do in life. I won’t entertain ideas that derangers want to be entertained in order to continue to attack and threaten their children. I hope that their children won’t be seen at IG until they are of a reasonable age to understand the true meaning of service because now their parents are too busy with the work aspect of making the games great for everyone.
Canada loves Harry.
Looking forward to tonight’s interview with CTV’s Ohmar Sachedina. Premiering at 10:30 pm Eastern 🥰
A bit OT: A question for Brits–
Did ITVX show any Invictus Game 2025 in the UK? Saw SS complained that there’s no streaming of live events, and one person said they found Day2 hightlight show on the platform after some searching. I saw ESPN+ and Disney+ are LIVE steaming events daily & with Daily Hightlight shows on-demand and will also live steaming the Closing Ceremony in the USA. In past games, BBC at least would broadcast some events daily, even though it’s not on the prime BBC1 & 2 channels.
Here’s official word on where to watch from which country: https://www.invictusgamesfoundation.org/news/how-you-can-watch-the-invictus-games-vancouver-whistler-2025
If you subscribe to US Disney+ package that includes ESPN+ there’s full coverage of ‘live’ sporting events running many hours (looks like with time delay), plus a daily recap ~1-hr. You can also ‘replay’ non-live events such as complete Opening Ceremony, sport finals (eg. Nordic, Alpine, etc.)
Yes, I knew several countries have carried the IG coverage. But only saw Sussex Squad from UK complained the lacking of IG showing on ITV/ITVX. Just wondering if the situation has improved? UK has huge team and their relatives & friends in UK might want to watch.
Harry is a wonderful and considerate father who is trying to answer the questions posed by his children-it is difficult for young children to understand war and the problems for vets-he is taking his time showing them the vets and answering questions in way they will understand-keep up the good work Harry.
