Queen Camilla adopted an 8-week-old puppy named Moley Parker Bowles

Queen Camilla actually has been out and about with frequency in the past month. She had to cancel a lot of appearances late last year because she caught pneumonia following the royal tour of Australia. Now she’s rested and healthy(ish) so she’s been doing several events a week. She’s honestly working much more than the heir and his wife. Today, she visited Canterbury. Specifically, she made an appearance at the Beaney House of Art and Knowledge. It was there where she revealed that she has adopted a new dog following the passing of her beloved Jack Russell terrier, Beth. She even revealed the dog’s name.

Queen Camilla revealed she has recently adopted an eight-week-old puppy named Moley when she visited historic Canterbury on Tuesday morning.

Camilla, 77, said the new pup was rescued and is believed to be from Battersea Dogs and Cats home, where she adopted her dogs Beth and Bluebell in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

Her Majesty was left heartbroken when Beth, a Jack Russell Terrier, died last November, and when the King attended the Royal Variety Performance weeks later, he told TV presenter Amanda Holden – who is an ambassador for the world-famous animal rescue centre in London – that they planned to get a new dog.

It appears the couple has now made their choice: a pup who is “a bit of everything.”

The Queen revealed the happy news as she affectionately stroked a guide dog while meeting the partially-sighted museum group in the Beaney House of Art & Knowledge located in the centre of Canterbury’s bustling high street.

I know British people love their dogs, but it’s definitely crazy that a 77-year-old woman – a queen consort – would adopt an eight-week-old puppy. Surely there are adult dogs who need a home, dogs who would be much better suited for Camilla’s lifestyle? Moley Parker Bowles is going to disrupt! I also thought it was crazy when Prince Andrew gave QEII two puppies in the last year of her life – it was unfair to QEII (who was dying!) and unfair to the dogs. Camilla definitely needs an older dog. Perhaps an old Rottweiler.

Why the surname Parker Bowles. The family name is windsor

  2. QuiteContrary says:

Is she going to eat the dog? I’d keep an eye on that puppy.

  3. Tessa says:

Shelters like people to adopt older dogs and cats instead of puppies and kittens

Cami couldn’t take the competition of a Rottweiler: too much competition.

“Mirror mirror on the wall, whose the fairest of them all?”.

    “THE DOG, YOU TWAT!”.

  5. Bookie says:

Did she name it Moley to make fun of Meghan’s mole? She’s a vile old woman so that would track.

  6. An old Rottweiler lol. Yes that is exactly what she needs.

Jack russell are actually quite on brand for her, they rarely are the nicest dogs. I still love them but I had some past experiences in my family with jack russell and all of them were quite mean, especially with children.

  8. Gabby says:

As long as they appoint a guardian; by the time this puppy is 2, I suspect she will be with the guardian full time.

  9. Beverley says:

Off topic but…wow, that woman is hideous!

  10. Eurydice says:

Maybe Bluebell is grieving and would be happy to have a puppy.

In most cases, I would agree older people especially should adopt mature dogs, rather than puppies. I’ve seen too many retirees adopt puppies then complain about how high energy they are. This isn’t a typical case though. She’s not housetraining that puppy. She’s not exercising that puppy. She has staff for that. And hopefully, she makes plans for the care of the dog when she’s gone.

When my beloved JoLee passed, it took me a long time to find the right dog. I knew I didn’t want a puppy. At 70, I know I have slowed down some. So I adopted a dog used as a backyard breeder. She’s 5 physically, but cognitively closer to 18 months because of her lack of exposure to the whole wide world. I wanted a dog that wasn’t a wuss in rain, she’s not! I wanted a dog that wouldn’t be a lot of work. She is. She’s got a beautiful merle coat, and sheds CONSTANTLY and COPIOUSLY. This in a home that hates to vacuum! We clash on some levels and are a perfect fit on others. Cruella has many helpers w/her puppy, it’s care is not going to fall totally on her. OTOH Gracie has me and me alone so we’re learning how to live with each other. We’ve been a team for 6 months now. She’s learned and made adjustments. I’ve learned and made adjustments. Being able to live with a dog has saved me on more than one occasion, especially through Covid. A true dog person is a dog person for life. I wish she had chosen to adopt an older dog though. It would have/could have made such a strong statement. Who inherits the dog when she passes? Which Parker-Bowels person and will that person be involved whilst the dog is still a puppy or will it be a total shock to the dog? Wishing all the best…..to the dog.

Aw. Sending love to you and Gracie. And yes, wishing all the best…to the dog. One of the things I loved about Meghan adopting Mama Mia was that she went for the mom. As did you!

Timely addition just after the focus on the Sussex’s pets recently. Nothing is done without a purpose.

  14. Dee says:

Adopting a shelter dog, especially an adult dog, would’ve sent a great message. But since do these people care about anything but themselves.

  15. Woah Nelly says:

Where’s the outrage that she pet a guide dog?! That’s as bad a “moving a wheelchair without permission”.

  16. Lucy says:

Isn´t it weird that Camilla still uses her married name of a different marriage?
