DM: The Windsors want ‘WLM’ to be a success so that Meghan never writes a memoir

You can tell that With Love, Meghan is successful because the Duchess of Sussex’s haters are still desperately clinging to arguments for why Meghan flopped. “The critics hated it!” I’m not entirely convinced “the critics” had ever seen a food/lifestyle show before. “WLM is an international laughingstock!” Actually, people around the world are buying Le Creuset and being inspired by Meghan’s cooking and entertaining tips. “It only got to #7 on Netflix’s top-ten!” So you admit that millions of people are watching WLM around the world and, for the record, it made it to the top-five? Anyway, the Daily Mail’s Amanda Platell is once again trying to do too much. She cites these arguments for why WLM is bad/unpopular, and then claims that, actually, all the Windsors want is for Meghan to have a successful show, because they’re worried about what she’ll do if WLM flops.

Media insiders suggest that Netflix aren’t too worried if the show is a monumental dud, or if Meghan is ridiculed from the US to the UK – because it all means it is getting huge publicity and that’s what matters. Tellingly there haven’t been any gushing tweets of sisterly solidarity from her so-called besties such as Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Amal Clooney who were, of course, all cherished guests at her wedding.

As for Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, there’s not been a word of encouragement from those quarters either. No kind words from William and Kate, just a stony silence.

The irony is that the Royals are desperate for Meg’s show to succeed. As my colleague, the royal expert Richard Eden has said, it would mean ‘she and Harry would not need to exploit their royal connections again’.

As it is, Mrs Sussex could be left high and dry in 2025 if the programme flops and Netflix pull the plug. Where then would she go to harvest more millions?

Whatever the case, the Palace dearly hopes it will prove to be a ratings hit. Because as one courtier speculated, if this venture fails, what other depths can she possibly plumb for profit, especially as it’s believed she kept a diary since joining the royals.

‘The last thing anyone wants is another Spare, this time from Meghan,’ said the courtier with deep apprehension.

Sadly, the failure of With Love, Meghan presents the monarchy with the terrifying thought of exactly that ‘TIGging’ Time Bomb. A vengeful book from the desperate Duchess of Drivel would be the worst form of royal revenge.

[From The Daily Mail]

It’s so telling that this has been a consistent fear since 2020: that one day, Meghan would tell her whole story, that she would write a book or do a Netflix series on what actually happened to her in the UK. They feared that more than they feared Harry’s memoir. Remember how William was apparently physically ill with worry before the Oprah interview? Guilty consciences.

It’s also so typical of the Windsors to not think three steps ahead. If the goal is explicitly “we want to ensure that Meghan never writes her memoir,” then perhaps they shouldn’t have had a years-long meltdown over every single f–king thing that Meghan does and says? Again, it’s mind-boggling that everyone over there is doing THIS MUCH about Meghan’s sweet little cooking show, where she’s not spilling secrets or talking about the Windsors. That’s what they fear too, although they would never admit that part: that Meghan dealt with everything with a tremendous amount of grace, and all she wants to do is move on with her life and forget about those ghastly people. (Also: I’ve said this before, but the time has passed for Meghan’s “memoir” – she said what she wanted to say in the Netflix series and the Oprah interview.)

What are the Windsors so afraid of?
I really hope that Meghan in the future will write her memoir when she had time to work through all the trauma she went through.

    • sarah Westwood says:

I can’t wait for her to write her story! She doesn’t need to censor it either !

    • Deering24 says:

Meghan is too classy to write one…but, boy, I wish she would. The Firm is obviously still terrified about how it treated her, so that tea would be a death blow to their entire image.

  2. Julia says:

Serena Williams did a 2 lovely support posts on instagram so I don’t know what Amanda is talking about. WLM is in the weekly global top 10. I can’t remember the last time a lifestyle brand got onto that list. Meghan is not going to write a memoir that talking point is so tired.

    • BlueSky says:

I was just about to say this. Also, are these people not on Threads? Because all I’m seeing is people saying they love the show and posting pictures of their one pot spaghetti, gardening, making bread. I posted that I purches beeswax and used my wax warmer to melt it and added essential oils and I got a lot of likes and “oh good idea”

The truth of the matter is is that they are angry because they are thriving outside of the RF and that makes them look irrelevant because that was not supposed to happen. She continues to live rent free in their heads. They hate that they don’t have access to her that she is in control of her narrative. Theuy want her to mention RF so they can scream at her. She has moved beyond them. It’s been 5 years. Let it go but they can’t.

      • Becks1 says:

Threads is one big Meghan lovefest right now and Daniel Martin is sharing all the positive posts with Meghan apparently.

    • Bronco says:

Did they miss Serena at Meghan’s house playing with lili? Not sure what Amal has to do with anything. Since when is she even on social media? A lot of celebs were there as ‘friends’ of the Windsor’s too

      • Blogger says:

Meghan has friends who are busy “working” and changing the world.

They’re not bone idle and have time to bitch and gossip to the tabloids because they don’t want to do their taxpayer funded work.

    • Dee(2) says:

I’m sorry is that a new requirement of friendship? That I must promote your endeavors like I’m part of your marketing team? It’s nice if people do but it’s the same vein as people being mad if someone doesn’t post about a person that they worked with who died or is going through something, people don’t have to live out their friendships in public for your consumption.

      • Blogger says:

You hit the nail though. If her friends came out, then there’d be more stories that they can print. And that’s why Meghan has been very careful in exposing her friends to the glare of the media. She doesn’t want them harassed, stalked, abused…but it’s been the willingness of her friends to come out and support her when she was being trodded down that has been heartening to see. Her friends know she’s thriving – you can see it on her Insta. They have their Meghan back again. The tabloids can speculate as much as they like but they no longer have access to that part of her life as opposed to when they were torturing her when she was publicly funded.

I went on @Threads yesterday because one of my favorite YouTubers said that there celebrating 🍾 “With Love Meghan” over there…and I have to say this…EVERY THREAD THAT SHOWED IN MY FEED WAS A 😍 ENTRY ABOUT “With Love Meghan”❣️. If I didn’t KNOW better it looks like Meghan Sussex PURCHASED @Threads to be her personal social media engine! People showcasing receipes…fancy cookware…walking in lovely gardens…sipping tea…making candles…REGULAR FOLKS JUST ELEVATING THEIR LIVES & LOVING ON THEMSELVES ❣️

In these dark times…scrolling through all that glory had me in HEAVEN😍🙏🏾✨️

    • Jane says:

I know threads is meta but I love it there too. so much support Meghan Sussex, and all my sewing pals are there, along with news from sources I actually trust. And Misan Harriman, Stephen King and other lovely people.

  4. Maxine Branch says:

It is so obvious from WLM that Meghan has healed and put those ghastly folks behind her. For me this show is cathartic for Meghan and the nail in the coffin for the Windsors. She has reclaimed what brings her great joy, hosting, entertaining family and friends. The beauty for this show is the millions of folks who will./have been able to see this beautiful woman in her element and to see how effervescent, nerdy and comforting she is. Big loss for Harry’s birth family.

  5. Blogger says:

If that were the case, why were the Windsors’ attack dogs out in force – again?

Also, Duchess of Drivel? Really Mandy? Have you read what you’ve written?

  6. Tessa says:

So why was knauf dragged out then

    • Jais says:

Good question. I’m like nah, they’re lying. Obviously they don’t want Meghan to write a memoir but bullshit they want Meghan’s show to succeed.

  7. Dee(2) says:

If Meghan was the problem they wouldn’t be worried about what she would write because if it was anything the defamatory there’s no way in hell they wouldn’t sue her, they would relish the opportunity.

They’re worried because she wasn’t supposed to succeed with them pointing both barrels at her, and she is. She isn’t struggling with shaking off tradition and hierarchy, the way Harry still clearly struggles to. If she wants to say it she will.

They KNOW she’s gone easy on them, and I mean the media and BRF and they know they would never hold back if they had Intel on her like that. They can’t comprehend decency because they don’t have it

  8. somebody says:

Innocent, welcoming people wouldn’t have to worry about someone writing a memoir.

    • Blogger says:

I for one look forward to a memoir with an appendix filled with evidence of how she was treated.

      But she’s too classy.

    • Hypocrisy says:

Exactly, and I don’t think time will ever pass for the interest in her story to be published if she chooses to write it. Even decades from now I would definitely be interested and read it.

  9. JENNIFER says:

Then why haven’t they called off their dogs?

    • KC says:

To paraphrase Anne Lamotte: if you wanted me to write nice things about you, you should have been nicer.

Also, please let me be the kind of flop that lands my show in the Netflix top 5 (or 7, or 10, or 30 even!)

Also, also, threads is the best.

  10. Amy Bee says:

If the Royal Family really treated Meghan well as they said they did they wouldn’t be worried about a memoir.

  11. Nanea says:

“Actually, people around the world are buying Le Creuset and being inspired by Meghan’s cooking and entertaining tips.”

Le Creuset has been trending here, on and off, for the past few days and is, as of the past few hours, above all politically-related ## on #1, despite the government here being busy in coalition talks and trying to find ways to stop the far-right fascists from blocking vital financial decisions.

The power of the tiny ray of sunshine that is Meghan Sussex, pursuing joy instead of perfection, while inspiring all four corners of the globe to try her recipes and/or use her deco ideas to create a more cosy and welcoming living space.

    Left-Behinds what? Wailses-Parker Bowleses who?
    🤭

    • Harla says:

The homegoods store in my very tiny, very rural town had the exact same white braiser by Le Creuset, I took as a sign from the Goddess and bought it 🙂

  12. Libra says:

There will at some point be a diary or memoir published for her adult children to know the truth. Charles and Camilla will have passed, maybe also Andrew,Anne and Edward, so the only targets alive are William and Kate. I’m guessing 15 years from now, Lili will be 18 and Archie 20 . The Wales children will be adults as well. A smash hit in more ways than one.

    • Noor says:

How very true. Meghan owed it to herself and her children to get her memoir written and published to set the record straight.

Royalists are desperate for Meghan’s cooking show to flounder. The Vanity Fair’s nasty article in Jan 2025 was published to scuttle Meghan launch of her cooking show and later Knauf came up with the bullying story again. The torrents of articles from all media outlets thrashing a cooking show is unprecedented.

    • jais says:

I’d love a memoir for selfish reasons. But idk if I can see one then. At 20 and 18, Archie and Lili will be entering possibly college or doing something independent. I can’t see Meghan wanting to bring more attention and heat to them in that moment. Bc a memoir of her time in the uk would do that. But who knows. Anything can happen. Meghan will likely do a book at some point but it won’t be about her time in the uk if I had to guess.

  13. Izzy says:

LMAO this show has Le Creuset trending so hard that its competitors are jumping on the bandwagon now to remind shoppers that there are alternatives they can purchase at lower price points.

  14. Eurydice says:

It would be so simple – a two word message from BP – Congratulations, Meghan.

  15. ariel says:

To quote a pulitzer prize winning lyricist “They tried to rig the game, but you can’t fake influence.” – Kendrick Lamar.

They will twist themselves into knots trying, but you can’t unsee the truckload of photos of people making one pot spaghetti, honey lemon cake and showing off their kitchenwares.

If one day Megan Sussex writes a memoir, frankly, that chapter will probably be tiny.
She had a whole life before her years the racist viper’s nest, and she has a whole life afterwards.

She is the center of the monarchy- they are not but a tiny chapter in her life.

  16. Becks1 says:

They keep telling on themselves. They’re so worried about Meghan’s memoir because she kept a diary – meaning, she has contemporaneous notes about her time in the Firm. They’re not worried that she’s going to lie or whatever. They’re worried she’s going to tell the whole truth. Same thing with Spare – we pretty much never heard that anything in there was a lie. There were some attempts to say “well this isn’t right bc the QM wasn’t there at the time” or something but it all kind of fell flat. That’s why the big criticism of it was “how dare he treat his father like this,” not “how dare he lie.” Because he wasn’t lying.

I think we will get a memoir from Meghan, but I think it will be years from now and I think her time in the royal family will be a few chapters, if that. I can see her writing one that spans the arc of her life and the focus is going to be on the positive, not the trauma.

Spare for harry made perfect sense at this general time – the closing of a significant chapter in his life and the beginning of the rest of his life. I think it gave him closure and helped him to fully move on from the hurt and trauma. For M, I think she’s going to wait until that trauma is a blip on her screen.

    • ML says:

If I remember correctly, it’s not just that Meghan kept a diary. Back in the day, the RF was perturbed by Meghan’s email correspondence as well. And later, when things went pear shaped and H&M realized they couldn’t trust everyone, the royals disliked them filming video evidence. They could say anything they wanted about Meghan’s journal, but Meghan was wise to hold onto documentation they do not want exposed.

  17. Vanessa says:

So after all the unhinged stalker behavior for William and Kate making cakes Suddenly talking about Kate skills in Jam making . Charles suddenly talking about the joy of music making music playlist after sending the usual attack dogs weeks before Meghan show . Now that all their negativity has failed Meghan show is worldwide hit she getting a second season . Of course royal family wanted Meghan show to do well because of they don’t want to write a book . Meghan has spoken what has happened already on Oprah the Netflix documentary the British tabloid are they only ones who continue to talked about a supposed books they been saying this from day one about Meghan. It’s been seven years and no book . The British tabloids are the one who desperately for Book .

  18. SURE says:

IF M had planned a memoir for the near future then the two Windsor racists simultaneously announcing their cancer diagnoses probably
    stalled her plans.

  19. QuiteContrary says:

The Windsors SHOULD be afraid of a memoir from Meghan. Because she could elegantly murder their public image and back it up with receipts.

  20. MsIam says:

Personally, I hope she does write a memoir and then produce a movie. She could get Justine Bateman to play Kate, they look just alike. Seriously though, the delusion is so strong with these folks. Amanda Platell claiming WLM is a flop, like we can’t see that it is in the top 10 in viewing and regular non-tabloid folks are posting about how great it is left and right. Finally, when you think about the fact that even the threat of having no security and no financial support was not enough to convince the Sussexes to stay, that should give you a good idea just how horrible living with the Unroyals must have been. Keen, Fergie, Sophie, all of them have been brought to heel by that money and pressure, so bravo to Harry and Meghan for saying hell no. The Windsors should be very afraid of Meghan writing a book.

  21. Criti Calthinking says:

They should be worried about the 400 left out pages of Spare. All it takes is one Random House malware attack or an intern slip up.

  22. Jenepooh says:

Quite honestly, if it wasn’t for the palace having constant meltdowns about Meghan, I wouldn’t be so interested in watching her shows, listening to her podcast, and following her on social media. The fact that they hate her so much makes me want to support her by watching/consuming all that she puts out. Had they left her and Harry alone, I would have completely forgotten about her and wouldn’t have so much desire to tune into her every project. I think she’s absolutely amazing for her way of navigating those twatwaffles and making mint from their ire.

  23. Over it says:

Harry still has 400 plus pages to publish Z keep it up idiots , keep it up .. Also it must really get under their unseasoned skin that Meghan doesn’t talk about them at all. It’s like they just don’t exist. They want to ride her coattail and she just blanks them and it’s killing them

    • Lady Digby says:

If I hope Harry has warned the right people that if xxx happens then extended Spare gets published with no reactions. Also for Meghan ‘s peace of mind she could write her own memoir just for her children and keep it under lock and key for them to read when older. Depending how things pan out she also publish it.
I would love to know what she thinks about the RF and the White Markles. When did she realise Knauf was the enemy within? Just how big a bitch was Kate to her? Did Will attempt to REDACTED? What was said in the car in September 2022 before the walkabout? How grossed out is she by Piss Morgan’s inappropriate obsession?

  24. sueinorleans says:

Why on earth would Meghan having a successful show preclude her ever writing a memoir? Is there some rule I am unaware of that says you are only allowed to do one thing in life? They are just so ridiculous. We all know the British media are just salivating for either Meghan or Harry to come out with a book – even the keenest Sussex haters must be getting tired of the rehashed drivel the royal rota keeps dishing up.

    • Mario says:

Because they see everything through the lens of what can enhance your fame or make you money, and they have spent years and years now crafting a narrative for the home team that she is only about money and anything good about her is a fake performance to make her more famous and make her more money, specifically because she and her husband are always, in this narrative, just a few missteps away from losing their home, and having to come beg hat in hand for the UK’s forgiveness and BRF cash.

Seen through that lens, the idea is that if she is successful and famous in one area, it means she won’t need to do anything big or desperate to enhance her fame or make money, which they’ve been claiming, in that very narrative, is going to be a memoir when it happens.

it’s all narrative built on narrative, wherein they have to twist and shape anything new that happens to fit, so that they won’t look like idiots

  25. LRB says:

I think she will write a memoir at some point… but her stint in the royal family will cover half a page… a total irrelevant and unhappy period best glossed over.

  26. Bren says:

If Meghan writes a memoir, I hope she drops it without any warning. I don’t know if that’s possible in the book publishing world, but watching the fallout on the salty isle would be entertaining.

  27. Lady Digby says:

If Meghan did write her memoir what do people most want to know?

  28. Mario says:

if she ever does right one, which is her right, I’m pretty sure she wants it to be after she’s lived a life on her own terms, when the Windsor saga and the escape from Salt Island will be seen as just a part of her story, and not even the most interesting one. She had a life and career before that, she intends to have a successful life and career for many years to come. While the BRF cannot fathom a person who is not simply in it to embiggen in their own fame and make the most money, not everyone is like them. She certainly isn’t.

The window is closed on her ability to write a memoir that exploits herexperiencess with the royals for maximum gain, but the window is nowhere near closed on a life full of new experience, lessons learned, and new maturity over time. That memoir, if it happens, perhaps years maybe decades into the future, will center Meghan, not the BRF. She doesn’t care if that makes less money.

  29. wolfmamma says:

I do wish someone who does have the goods on the Windsors would write a nice BIG book.

  30. Sparrow says:

All this stuff comes from Kate and William. The jealousy dressed up as concern. They wanted it to fail. They really wanted it. But Meghan is natural in front of the camera. And if this were just hate watching, there wouldn’t be featured food and kitchenware in short supply here in the UK. I keep saying it: Waitrose publicising the Meghan effect will have stung. That place is the weekly shop for staples and fresh food for the high end. Including the brf. If they need loo roll, it’ll be from Waitrose etc. and Waitrose also stocks Duchy products, which must stick in the craw for Charles. We get Duchy meat from them.

  31. ABritGuest says:

The media are the ones who are desperate for Meghan to write a book. When spare came out it was clear the media already knew about things like Williams attack on Harry (Robert Lacey’s earlier book mentioned it) but couldn’t /wouldnt delve into much until Harry did.

The press know that the palace folks did some awful things to Meghan which they can’t wait to discuss under the guise of being appalled for the BRF. I mean the stuff we do know about is dreadful such as there being concerns about Archie’s colour, Meghan being denied in-patient care, the nasty names they called her or Jason Knauf helping the Mail’s case. I can’t imagine further revelations Meghan could disclose. Tyler Perry said Meghan could have said much more but was too classy. I am not sure she would disclose as much as she could about what Harry’s family did to her in the near future

    • Libra says:

I would love to know exactly what William said to her or did to her before her marriage. Did Harry know and did Kate find out?

  32. MikeB says:

It is time for the harassment and attacks on Meghan by the UK tabloids to stop. Meghan has been away from your toxic shores for five years now, she is building her life in California with her family and is not receiving any funds from the British taxpayers.
Where has the negative stories about her Netflix show originated? the UK tabloids and experts, no surprise there as you note the writer’s names you realize they are the same ones who have written negative stories for the past seven years. It is clear these writers and experts have been brainwashed because as soon as Meghan does anything someone pushes a switch and they go into overdrive and turn out drivel stories by the dozen, do they realize just how stupid they look?

  33. Shoegirl77 says:

Personally, and I must preface this by saying that I am a VERY petty person, I’d tease a memoir. Get a book deal, release the book and do exactly as she’s been doing all along. Acknowledge that she lived in the UK for a while before and after getting married, mention nothing and nobody else and move on to the next chapter. Because clearly, Meghan moving to the next chapters in her life and never acknowledging these idiots since she left is living rent free in their heads. But again, I’m a very petty person 🤣

  34. MsKrisTalk says:

I’m going to start calling them the Whine-sores because they are the whining sore losers. They can’t seem to comprehend that Meghan was a success before that family, was a success in that family, and will continue to be a success after leaving that family.
