Princess Eugenie & Zara Tindall also attended the Cheltenham Festival this year

Here are some more photos from the Cheltenham Festival this week. Queen Camilla was in attendance on Wednesday, which was Day 2 of the races. Zara Tindall has attended every day of the races – she has some kind of association or sponsorship with Cheltenham. On Wednesday, Zara and Mike Tindall happily posed with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, and then today, Zara and Mike were seemingly on their own, with no cousins in tow.

I’m honestly a little bit surprised to see Jack and Eugenie so chummy with the Tindalls, but I get the impression that Zara is probably pretty chummy with everyone, especially her cousins. Eugenie likes to get out and see the races sometimes too – she and Jack usually come to Cheltenham for at least one day, and the Yorks are also regulars at Ascot. I mentioned in the Camilla post that Cheltenham is apparently really poorly-attended this year. It’s, like, a historic thing, they haven’t had this few attendees in two decades. Are British people finally tired of horseraces?

I like what Zara was going for, sartorial-wise, but I think the hat was wrong….

Which one? I like the broad-brimmed blue hat, particularly paired with the army green coat. But the fussy maroon hat (fascinator?) with the little twirl on top isn’t doing her any favors. She has a long face, and that thing just makes it look longer.

Horse racing is probably losing popularity because people view it as animal abuse.

    • Eurydice says:

Yes, definitely that. Also, a generational thing, a matter of economics and that there are so many other ways to gamble now.

  3. Maybe a couple of reasons people aren’t attending one people maybe can’t afford to go or two they are tired of the royals who do attend and aren’t willing to to be in the same place as them.

Just me or is it weird to wear a hat with a pantsuit, for women? I am really trying to remember seeing anyone do that; even the vestigial hat-wearing at racetracks doesn’t seem to stretch that far.

It’s just a very wrong style to wear with a pant suit like that. Her outfit calls for a fedora or a wide brimmed hat. What she’s wearing goes with a more formal dress, or skirt suiting.

Frankly, I can’t stand either her or her thug husband. They’re opportunistic grifters, and mean ones at that.

I would think that the UK populace has more to worry about in terms of survival than attending a horse race…

But fashion! For once Zara is dressing stylishly and looks like she’s having fun, I love the olive coat with blue accents. Mike Tindall looks like he’s channelling Guy Ritchie and looks every bit as ridiculous for it.

Eugénie looks a hot mess. She’s swimming in that coat, both too long and too big, the headpiece (not a hat) is Aristo Pandemic trend that I’d hoped died for good years ago and she desperately needs a better colorist for her hair.

The return of the burgundy brigade!

Zara looks really sharp in the tailored suit. I think she is ambassador for some design label as well as patron of Cheltenham Festival these days. She has been prone to wearing clothes that looked too tight on her in the past and generally looked “stuffed” imo. Eugenie has always struck me as a nice person, and it’s always reported that she and Harry are close, so I’m concluding that her niceness is genuine. We know Harry is genuine. I think Eugenie has always looked a little frumpy, (except in her stunning wedding dress) but her personality and pep always comes through and she is very pretty. I think she always photographs well.

Does Kate get on with Zara? I know she was mean to both York sisters although I am not sure why? Sophie is supposed to be Kate’s bestie amongst the royal women? Has she ever anything non official with her?

    • Becks1 says:

Zara gets on well with William by all accounts. I dont know about Kate. I don’t think Kate rides and riding is pretty much Zara’s life. I can see Zara not really having anything in common with her. I’m sure she’s polite enough but in most interactions we see its Zara and William, not Zara and KAte.
