Tiger Wood’s first known mistress, Rachel Uchitel, had her first gig on Extra! and it aired last night. As we mentioned yesterday, Uchitel was hired after impressing producers with a strange kind of biographical interview that involved her discussing her past and how she wanted to have a family and be “happy and content” in the future. (She should pray that a younger version of herself doesn’t come along and sleep with her husband.) Uchitel, a former nightclub promoter, was said to be covering celebrity parties and hotspots for Extra! Her first job had nothing to do with that though, and was an interview with the latest Bachelor star, Jake. I don’t really watch The Bachelor or care much, so I’ll just include the Huffington Post’s recap and you can watch the video above if you’re interested:

Tiger Woods’ most notorious mistress was offered a job as an ‘Extra’ correspondent earlier in the week, and now she has landed her first interview–with ‘Bachelor’ Jake Pavelka, in a dance studio.

Rachel Uchitel tries to get to the bottom of the dramatic departure of Ali, who left last week to return to her job.

“When Ali went home, was she going to be one of the girls you kept?” Rachel asks.

“Yes,” said Jake, “Ali was going to get a rose that night.” He adds that there is a possibility she will return to the show. Shocker.

Rachel can’t get Jake to say whether he’s engaged but she does get him to admit he has no Valentine’s Day plans. Then they dance the salsa.

Uchitel wasn’t that bad, and she’s personable, but again what has she done to deserve a career as an entertainment correspondent other than sleeping with Tiger Woods? Does she have a bachelor’s degree? Did she even have an interest in entertainment journalism before she took advantage of her notoriety to land this job? The job market is gutted lately and I’m sure there are countless qualified, talented men and women who could easily fill that spot.

Many commenters on The Huffington Post are mentioning what a bad example this sets for teens and tweens who realize that this woman is only famous for being a mistress. I don’t know if I would be too concerned about my child in this instance because there are much worse influences. It is a sad commentary on the state of our society, though, and this is coming from someone who gossips for a living. I’ll try not to talk much more about this woman unless she does something remarkable, but I have a feeling she’s going to be wheedling her way into the press as much as possible.

In related news, a custom designed boat that Tiger had made for his wife, Elin, is nearly complete. It cost $2-$3 million and was two years in the making. People Magazine quotes a source that says “Maybe the boat will represent a new beginning for Tiger and Elin.” Tiger’s PR team is really working overtime, but we’re not buying it. After all, we’ve been subjected to various porn stars, hookers, and hostesses telling their stories for weeks. Now the brassiest one will be flapping her giant lips on Extra! I know I won’t be tuning in.
