LA Olympics organizer: Kendrick Lamar will ‘be involved in the Olympics’

Earlier this year, wildfires devastated Southern California and a huge part of Los Angeles. The rebuild will cost billions, and the fires will completely alter what LA looks like going forward, and how and where people live. In just three years and four months, the LA Olympics will begin. The Olympic preparation is already underway, as this is the first summer games held in North America since 1996. The LA Games could be a total sh-tshow, but again, they’ve got more than three years to prepare. One thing organizers know right now is that they absolutely want Compton’s own Kendrick Lamar to perform, probably at the Opening Ceremony.

After deadly fires that devastated much of Los Angeles, organizers of the 2028 Olympics told the IOC on Thursday how the city will rebuild with help from the games. Count on Kendrick Lamar, too, to be part of “the greatest show on earth” in three years’ time.

“The rebirth, the rebuild, maybe reimagining LA 2.0 — and the Olympics as a catalyst for all those things — we think is really part of our ethos,” organizing committee chairman Casey Wasserman told The Associated Press.

“You can’t have a natural disaster at that scale in a city as big and as important as Los Angeles and not have it be part of your core philosophy going forward,” he said in an interview ahead of giving sports leaders an update at the International Olympic Committee’s annual meeting.

Kendrick Lamar would a globally popular part of the opening ceremony on July 14, 2028 after his stunning halftime show at the Super Bowl last month.

“Fortunately in my day job I represent Kendrick Lamar,” said Wasserman, who heads an international talent and promotions agency. “He is truly an LA icon so I think it would be a pretty fair bet that Kendrick will be involved in the Olympics in Los Angeles in some way.”

The wildfires in January have reset the daily life and global perception of the city.

“Everyone loves a comeback story,” Wasserman told IOC members Thursday.

First of all, about the Olympics in general… Paris really shook up the summer Olympics game. People were awestruck by how France organized the games and showcased the history and beauty of Paris. It was so special, so unique, such a tourism bonanza. People should NOT expect the same of LA. I mean… yeah. It’s going to be a mess no matter what. That being said, I’m thrilled that Kendrick is already booked for the LA Olympics. That man is really about to call Drake a PDFile at the Super Bowl AND the Olympics. Speaking of, the NFL released a bunch of info about just how big Kendrick’s Halftime performance was. They’re now calling it the “biggest Halftime Show ever.”

Want to know what music act I want to see at the Olympics, that the Paris Olympics paved the way for?…..

Metallica. (Because I know they won’t go for Slayer).

See, I am hoping Metallica plays the next Superbowl since it will be held in CA. I would rather have 20 minutes of Metallica. I don’t think they would get the same time at the Opening or Closing ceremony (if they even want to do it).

To be honest, I feel like there will be a lot of counties boycotting, rightfully.

Wow, I get that they need to get on and plan for this thing but I really wonder what LA and the whole of the USA will look like when the next Olympics come around.

Living here in California, I can tell you it’s a bit different than the rest of the country is feeling. It’s still liberal and progressive and as a state we’re the 4th largest economy in the world. democrats are still a huge majority in our state govt level as well as our Congress reps. CA can survive on its own if have to – a record breaking 51 tv and movies to be filmed here and it has 32 of the 50 largest ai companies to lead the world in tech. Even some countries ambassadors are talking to our governor for opportunities in the state level bypassing the federal govt. I see the La Olympics committee starting to hire as well so plans are being made whether people boycott it or not. I was also here during the 1984 Olympics, people didn’t think La was going to pull through but those games literally set the standard for how to host future Olympics games and was the only one profitable at the time. La has experience and it knows how to lead. Living in Spain last year, when we told locals we’re from LA, there’s always this curiosity and fascination also.

And re Kendrick, he is the most watched performer of any Super Bowl, was trending on YouTube for a while. I’ve mentioned in a post before that his SB performance have been watched repeatedly. We were in Japan a mth ago for a week, and his performance even reached there. Prob the same amount of engagements as Celine’s performance in Paris around the world.
