President Biden attended the Broadway opening of ‘Othello’ & posed with the cast

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a huge Broadway opening, with all of the NYC theater royalty turning out for a show. That happened this weekend, for the Broadway opening of Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal. Jake and Denzel have been in rehearsals for months, and I think it’s really interesting casting for Jake to play Iago. It’s also interesting that Othello and Iago are wearing modern American military uniforms!

Anyway, as I said, the glitterati really came out for opening night. President Biden and Dr. Biden even made their first big public outing since Pres. Biden left office. Denzel was a big supporter of Pres. Biden, and Biden awarded Denzel with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in January. It was great to see Joe and Jill out for a show!

Other attendees… Liev Schriber and his wife Taylor Neisen (who looks so much like Naomi Watts, I did a double-take). Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, Nicole Scherzinger, Katie Holmes and Sherri Shepherd also came out. Surprisingly, Jennifer Lopez and Emme attended the opening too. Does J.Lo ever go to Broadway openings? I have to say… J.Lo’s styling was kind of awful. Her body is tea (as the kids say) but that slicked-back hairstyle makes her look completely exhausted, if not corpsey.

The Bidens looked like they were having a blast on Broadway. I actually think Jen Lopez looked amazing, too. Emmy is so cute ☺️ I wonder if the social media set will complain that Joe and Jill aren’t doing enough about Trump, like they have Barack and Michelle 😒

There is video of Joe greeting the cast backstage and he welcomed with warm applause. It kind of made me emotional.

I saw this Othello while it was still in previews a week ago. Interesting, pretty bare staging. Denzel was phenomenal and I was pleasantly surprised by how commanding a stage presence Gyllenhaal has. I highly recommend.

And I miss having a president with class and an appreciation of culture.

By MAGA standards, this Shakespeare play is peak woke.

I miss him so much, and Jill too.

So glad to see them out and about and looking well, and being received so warmly. Quite a contrast to the Vances at the Kennedy Center . . . .

Wow, it really did my heart good to see the Bidens.
