Prince Harry apparently arrived – according to British reports – in London on Sunday, April 6th. He traveled to London specifically to appear in court regarding his years-long attempt to get his royal protection locked down whenever he travels to the UK. If he really arrived on Sunday – and I have no idea if the reports are accurate – then that means he was one day too late to attend a good friend’s wedding. The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden spoke to the friend about Harry and Meghan’s non-attendance.
The Duke of Sussex stood shoulder to shoulder with Charles Vivian and his other closest confederates in the ‘band of brothers’ photograph at Windsor Castle on the night of his wedding.
So there was disappointment at the weekend among royal fans that Harry and Meghan were not present at Lord Vivian’s own big day.Lord Vivian, 58, exchanged vows with Saweda Kamara, a US compliance director, at Chelsea Old Town Hall. They held a reception at The Nomad hotel, which is housed in the former Bow Street magistrates’ court and police station.
Lord Vivian confirms Harry was invited. When asked why the duke didn’t attend, he tells me: ‘I don’t know. He has a lot on.’
Among the guests was the man sometimes known as Harry’s ‘second father’, Mark Dyer, 59, a former Welsh Guards officer. Dyer introduced Harry to Lord Vivian, who’s a major player in the public relations world and reportedly helped the prince set up several of his charity trips to Africa. The duke’s absence in Chelsea was particularly notable because he was an usher at Vivian’s first wedding to Elizabeth Wimpress.
Lord Vivian’s was not the first wedding of one of the ‘band of brothers’ he missed. In 2023, I revealed Harry skipped Jack Mann’s nuptials in Suffolk.
For years, the British tabloids have been trying to find a way into Harry’s close-knit group of surrogate fathers/brothers and mentors. They’ve never sold him out, never said a bad word about him. I don’t think Lord Vivian was saying anything bad either – he understands that Harry has a lot going on. He probably also knew it would be a headline either way, so at least he confirmed that Harry and Meghan were invited to the wedding, thus avoiding the “Harry and Meghan were BRUTALLY SNUBBED for wedding invitations” story. And if Harry really was in London on Sunday, perhaps he even stopped by and gave his best wishes to his friend after the wedding? We don’t know because (hilariously) the British media finds it so difficult to track Harry’s movements when he’s traveling solo.

Yes Harry is in stealth mode! They would love to know where exactly he is staying but they don’t and that really makes them angry lol.
Maureen is obsessed and his poison pen articles are another reason in Harry’s favour why he needs security.
As for Vivian, he could have left it at “No comment.”
He should have not said a thing.
I don’t think it’s that deep. They don’t live in the uk anymore and security is hard to guarantee it’s basically at the whim of RAVEC and the Met at the moment. Flying in and out for a funeral and staying with your uncle is different than a wedding and perhaps doesn’t get the same leeway. Also, I’m suspecting it would definitely be counted in the case of Harry went to his friends wedding with his wife two days before showing up to court to discuss security no matter if he had been harassed or not.
I was going to say the same thing. A lot of this definitely is him not trying to undermine his active case about security. Finding out through sources after he’s already left the country that he went to his uncle’s funeral, is not the same as coming to a wedding and chilling in town for a few days beforehand. It’s one or the other, and I’m sure his friends (actual friends) understand that and aren’t tripping about the fact that he can’t come to weddings, christenings, baby showers, etc. He comes for official business, like visits to his charities, court, and an occasional funeral.
Harry couldn’t even attend the Grosvenor – the richest aristo – wedding, so why did Vivian Who even expect that he’d attend his?
@Blogger It’s not necessarily about expectation, it’s still polite to invite someone you are close to even if you know it is very unlikely that they will be able to attend. Let them make the decision, ya know?
Good point about RAVEC. Harry would have to ask 30 days in advance if he could get security. And they might say no for a wedding. Kind of hard to rsvp. Especially considering the press would possibly be briefed through leaks and make it an even bigger thing.
I believe he didn’t attend because the gutter press would have been crawling outside the venue and Harry didn’t want that to happen to his friend on his special day.
It was his second wedding, not his first. I bet it won’t be his last either, so spare me the outrage.
The venue doesn’t leave much room for privacy either.
So, why wasn’t there a breathless “Harry watch” for the months preceding this wedding? Will Harry attend Lord Vivian’s wedding? Has he been invited? Is it only Harry and not Meghan? What? What? WHAT?!!! How will we know how disappointed are the royal fans if they won’t tell us they’re disappointed?!!!
These people! They hound him, night and day. They make up any sh!t they want about him, Meghan, their children, their pets, fruit spread, whatever, with no regard for truth or the consequences. Anyone who is still in Harry’s inner circle of friends clearly understands this. Furthermore, let’s not forget that the man who is now the King of England essentially put out a hit on his own son and grandchild when he removed their security and told the press where they were. That’s the level of danger Harry is in wherever he goes. Anyone who is still in Harry’s inner circle understands that, too.
