John Stamos has generally stayed out of politics, but when he has spoken out, it’s been to support Democrats. He was vocal in his support of Vice President Kamala Harris last fall and supported President Joe Biden and VP Harris during the 2020 election. Also in 2020, he made Scott Baio big mad when he offered to play Chachi in one of those cast reunion WisDems fundraisers that they did over Zoom during the pandemic. I had always assumed he voted Dem, but didn’t follow politics because they don’t affect him.
This brings us to the drama at hand. On Monday, pictures began circulating online of Stamos acting as emcee at an event held in Mar-a-Lago. People on social media immediately began doing the “I told you so” dance. Since it blew up so much, Uncle Jesse had to release a statement to explain his attendance. According to John, it wasn’t political, he was just trying to support nurses. He also posted a link to the pro-democracy organization Democracy Forward.
John Stamos is setting the record straight. Following the Full House alum’s surprising appearance as an emcee for an April 5 event inside President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort—which sparked backlash online—he addressed his decision to participate in the evening’s program.
“I accepted the invitation to emcee the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala—an evening dedicated to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes,” John wrote in an April 7 Instagram Stories. “This nonpartisan even supports The Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations.”
He noted that the nonprofit “trains 350-400 nurses every year, directly addressing the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County.”
“Supporting nurses isn’t political—it’s essential,” the 61-year-old continued. “These are the people who care for us and our families when we need it most, and I believe we should show up for them with the same unwavering dedication they show up with every single day.”
John emphasized that he stands by the “importance of healthcare, of service, and of investing in those who care for our communities.”
As for what the evening entailed? The Palm Beach Ray of Hope Foundation hosted its Dancing with the Palm Beach Stars event, which paired local community leaders with professional dancers. The routines were then judged by Dancing with the Stars alums Artem Chigvintsev and Karina Smirnoff.
John emphasized that despite his leading role at the event, his “values and political views remain unchanged.”
In fact, during the 2024 presidential election, the actor publicly endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris while reflecting on the country’s political climate.
“It’s clear that our country is at a crossroads, and like many of you, I hope for a future where we can find unity and common ground,” he reflected on Election Day in an Instagram post. “I believe our similarities far outweigh our differences, and deep down, we all want the best for our families, our communities, and our nation. It’s this belief that drives my hope for a country that embodies fairness, compassion, and progress.”
“As we look ahead, it’s no secret who I will be casting my vote for,” he continued. “We need a leader who prioritizes unity and strives to bridge the divides that have deepened over the past years. My hope is that this election leads to a renewed focus on bringing people together, fostering dialogue, and seeking justice and equality for all.”
He concluded, “Let’s remember that despite our differences, we share a common humanity. May this election be a step towards healing, unity, and hope.”
I know that there is a shortage of healthcare workers in America and it’s important to support them, but this was held at Casa MAGA. Anyone comfortable being associated with Mar-a-Lago at this point should be called out. In 2025, you do not just “happen” to host a gala at Trump’s Florida home. A nonpartisan group supporting the medical industry is not going to rent out a venue owned by the man whose administration is currently waging war on doctors, healthcare, and scientists.
I googled the foundation and nothing political came up. However, when I searched for its president’s name, I learned that she is one of the founding members of the “Trumpettes,” which is exactly what you’d imagine it to be. (*Spoiler* It’s a Donald Trump fan club made up of bleach blonde older white women that started in 2015.) It took me approximately 45 seconds to do both of these searches to establish the direct connection between this organization and Trump. We are 10 years into this thing. Stamos absolutely should have known not to attend an event at Mar-A-Lago.
Maybe they need a fundraising event because ANHO lost whatever Federal funding they had when Trump/Musk took office. Straight through the woodchipper.
Anyway, I’m not sure Stamos has a lot of political sway. No offense but I doubt anyone under 35 even knows who he is. I think supporting nurses in a worthy endeavor, but once you set foot in the King’s palace it’s hard to get rid of that stench.
I am on the fence about this…I feel like the good outweighs the bad. But I am sure he was paid, which is not a good look.
“We’re 10 years in” made me 😭🤮😭🤮😭🤮😭🤮
You can support nurses in any city during any week of the year. It’s good to see his history of political support, but this was such an unforced error (by his people, himself, or whoever thought it wouldn’t be a big deal.)
Guess you can’t be too picky for work when your career is fading and your wife is young enough to be your daughter.
ML is owned by the fascist stooge of Putin. Our “president” dehumanizes every non-white non-MAGA person on the planet; feels free to grab people off the street and send them to El Salvador without due process; is trying to disenfranchise many of us, including all married women; and has no problem playing with our economic lives to make himself feel like a brilliant businessman. Stepping foot in ML is inherently political.
I have a friend who has attended several charity events there in the past 2 years. I bust chops all the time, but they have no choice where the event is held and its very good charitable organizations so *shrugs* I give a pass.
Not sure what you mean. The organization certainly has a choice of where they hold an event, and if they choose Mar-a-Lago then that makes them NOT a “good” organization. There are dozens of other options in that area. The donors can push back by not going.
I think it’s important in this historical moment to exercise the choices we do have.
I think they mean their friend and the nurses (attendees) don’t have a choice…
Look, if you’re a non-profit with any kind of integrity — i.e., your mission is to HELP people — then you do not hold your fundraising events at Mar-a-Lago. He absolutely got paid to be there, so he could go ahead and donate his fee to nurses (though not to this organization).
And Trumpettes? WT actual F?
Ick. The magat stink will never wash off any celebrity or business person who panders to these evil fascists. The public really, really needs a detailed explanation of how these “charity galas” work/who gets paid to appear, how much of the money raised benefits actual people and how much of the money just vanishes into thin air. “Charity fundraising” can be a major scam used to launder money as mango has demostrated in the past. This entire mess sounds dubious like everything else in mango’s sphere.
There are other places in Palm Beach where you an host galas besides America’s version of The Eagle’s Nest.
I equate Trump to Hitler, and his cronies as the same ilk of yes men. If you wonder if something in the Trump-sphere is acceptable, just substitute Hilter for Trump and see how it feels. You can’t see the future, but the past often gives you a pretty good crystal ball.
I just keep asking myself how this is all happening (it feels like an avalanche but it has clearly been building for a long time), and all I come up with is greed, fear, and the evil they bring.
YES this. Exactly. What legit charity actually trying to help people is going to hold a freaking gala at Nazi-Lago, directly funneling dollars to the orange bag of farts who is HURTING millions of people every day?????
Even the tiniest look into it makes the supposed “charity” stink to high heavens. Besides the self-professed “Trumpette” president, where are the org’s 990’s and other financial disclosures?? Where does the money not paid to our wannabe fuhrer actually go?? And if you look for the medical “school” they SAY they are supporting, you come up with a shady enterprise that seems all about repeatedly collecting payments from school loans without actually doing much educating.
The whole thing reeks and I’m sick to death of cis white men insisting everything’s “not political” when what they actually mean is “I don’t think it’s going to affect ME.” So cry me a river, John Stamos. Yes you are perfectly free to go emcee your fucking gross nazi galas – And we are also free to call you out on your bullshit. GAHHHH
Oh John Stamos who participated in a sexual assault and bragged about it – THAT John Stamos? Seriously F-ck him.
That’s why I figure he doesn’t have a problem being around trump, rapists have to stick together 🤷
