McDonald’s is finally bringing the Snack Wrap back sometime this year

Of all of McDonald’s discontinued items (pizza, McD.L.T. McRib, Szechuan sauce) I think the most missed and most requested might be the chicken Snack Wrap. That might be due to the long time they were on the menu and how recently it was available, from 2006 to 2016. We had several options for sauces and crispy vs. grilled chicken. I loved the crispy chicken Southwest Snack Wraps, they were just the right tasty bite of goodness without the extra calories of a sandwich. I’ve tried to recreate them at home with tortillas and chicken strips, with limited success. The good news is that McDonalds is bringing back the Snack Wrap in their American locations sometime this year! They made the announcement on their official Twitter account, with no month given but a date of the 14th. People are saying that it will be June. Here’s the report, from People:

On Tuesday, April 15, McDonald’s surprised fans by revealing that the brand’s cult-favorite Snack Wraps would be returning to menus sometime this year.

In a post on X, the official McDonald’s account teased the return of the discontinued menu item saying that the item would return on “0x.14.2025,” without specifying which month.

The Snack Wrap originally debuted on McDonald’s menus in the U.S. in 2006 before being discontinued in 2016. The fan-favorite item consisted of chicken, shredded lettuce and shredded cheese covered in either ranch or honey mustard and wrapped inside of a tortilla.

McDonald’s fans and Snack Wrap connoisseurs tried to take a stab at when exactly the menu item would be returning, only knowing that it would be on the 14th of one month in 2025.

“I’m betting on June,” one social media user responded, to which McDonald’s said “I cannot confirm or deny.”

“Soon friend soon,” McDonald’s said in response to another excited user.

McDonald’s President of U.S.A. Joe Erlinger confirmed in an interview with Good Morning America in December 2024 that the item would be back before the end of this year.

“The Snack Wrap will be back in 2025,” Erlinger told host George Stephanopulos. “This has a cult following. I get so many emails into my inbox about this product. It will be back in 2025.”

Erlinger also noted that he could not reveal the exact date as to when the wrap would return for “competitive reasons.”

The McDonald’s subreddit has two posts I’ve found about when these could possibly come back and how long they’ll last. The most recent post, from yesterday (4/15) claims that chicken strips, which I’ve read are called McCrispy strips, are coming on the 29th. Two people say that the Snack Wraps will be back in July. In a post from three months ago, they say the Canadian version uses a McCrispy patty cut up for their Snack Wraps. Apparently the Canadian and Australian McDonald’s still have the Snack Wraps. I also vaguely remember the larger premium Mcwraps, which were apparently a pain to make and were discontinued about 10 years ago. I think that’s what Heidi Klum is holding in the photos here from 2008.

I really miss the salads at McDonald’s, but there’s always Wendy’s, which has had better salads all along. While I was researching this story, I found a website called Mcriblocator, where you can find the much-coveted McRib, now only available in Germany. Hopefully the Snack Wraps will be a more permanent addition to the US menu.

YES!! I am so excited. I loved the snack wraps. Burger King has something similar but I’ve never tried them. We don’t go to McDonald’s a lot anyway but when we do go I struggle to find something to eat that’s not going to make me feel completely gross an hour later. The snack wraps were perfect for that. and they’re great for road trips.

  2. Yes those wraps were indeed good but I can’t in all good conscience eat there anymore as McDonald’s is/was a contributor to trump. I will make do with homemade version.

Large McWraps are still available in Europe. The only thing I eat at McDonalds 🙂

I’m confused. Pretty sure the McDonald’s near me still sell snack wraps? I’ve had them recently. Unless it’s a larger version but I don’t think it is.

They also used to sell egg whites bowls for breakfast… soo good and I really miss them.

McDonald’s should be boycotted for caving so quickly to mango’s racist and sexist whims and the low quality of their food. But. McDLT was the single best item McDonald’s has ever sold. The packaging was horrifically un-environmentally friendly, but it could be packaged differently nowadays like the rest of their food. The Southern style chicken sandwich (ripoff version of Chick-fil-A) was the best chicken product they ever sold. I stopped eating at McDonald’s with any consistency after it was discontinued. I also weirdly liked the pizza, but it wasn’t spectacular. The McRib was a disgusting food science experiment run amok. I don’t get the cult appeal of the snack wraps. They were never that good whenever I tried them (lettuce at local McDonald’s has always been hit or miss) and so many places have versions. The breakfast quality has plummeted. The frozen folded eggs are disgusting, the biscuits are so inconsistent it would probably be better if they were frozen/not made in house and the breakfast burritos should be available without the disgusting sausage.

    Nah, I’m good.

  8. MsIam says:

I have to admit I did like the Big Mac wraps, but they disappeared pretty quickly. I haven’t been to many fast-food places since the election. Even Wendy’s bent the knee, so I’ve been keeping my money.

They still sell snack wraps in Canada. I don’t think they ever left the menu here…
