Today is Prince Louis of Wales’s seventh birthday. I wondered if Louis’s parents would even release a new photo, or if they would recycle an older one. Surprisingly, they released a photo and it looks quite recent. Louis is suddenly looking much more grown-up and like he’s grown several inches in the past few months. Kids grow like weeds at this age. Louis’s birthday came during a moment where he’s lost his front baby teeth, so his open-mouthed smile makes him look like he just got his teeth knocked out in a football brawl. It’s cute.
I also think it’s interesting that the Princess of Wales didn’t photograph Louis for his birthday – the photo credit here is Josh Shinner. Is Kate done with photographing her kids for their birthdays? We’ll find out soon enough with Charlotte and George’s birthdays. Anyway, Kate used to say that out of all her kids, she thought Louis looked the most like her. I can see it, although I think all three Wales kids take after the Middleton side of the family. I’m not trying to start any fights about this, it’s just my opinion! All of the kids are going to end up with Kate’s hair color too.

He looks sooo much like young Prince Andrew, poor kid.
Respectfully, that is a heck of a stretch. This kid is all Middleton to me, looks like Kate’s dad and nothing like Andrew.
He has the same hairdo as Andrew . That’s all. He looks like his Uncle James.

Pull up childhood pics of Andrew and look at them side by side. Those Windsor-face genes are hard to beat. Kate does him no favors by dressing him like a 1960s kid all the time too.
She dressed him like herself! Slim-fitting dark-wash jeans, shirt, too small sweater. At least he resisted tucking in his sweater the way she does.
He looks nothing like Andrew to me. He’s the spitting image of Kate’s dad in my opinion.

I know it’s the trade-off for ski vacations and whatnot but still. Imagine if the kids got to the point and said please can you not release a picture this year. What would happen?

Yes, the technique is known as ‘depth of field’. I use it for photographing flowers or when I want to focus on a particular object 🙂
As @Tarte Au Citron says, yes, it’s a particular technique. If you’ve ever used Portrait Mode on iPhone (don’t know what features might be on other devices) it’s automatically set up to give the “blurry background” effect.
@kendrick, where exactly did anyone mock him ? Saying if they like their photos shown to the world or them saying no when they grow isn’t mocking . So what the hell are you talking about?

The most ‘Middleton’ looking of all the kids IMO. Would be interesting to see a side by side of Michael Middleton at the same age.

ETA I feel like they were starting to organically show the kids more – at more royal events and an occasional picture getting ice cream etc but they seem to have backed off on that; probably bc it gives more value to these pictures?
I know a lot of people thought they were over exposing the kids and they were tired of seeing them so much.
They definitely backed off showing their kids but for me, it’s not because of their overexposure but whatever happened last year with Kate and the impact it had on them..it’s difficult for them at their age to pretend or not to show their true emotions…thus, the Wales try to show them in a very controlled context and for a very limited time…

I always thought Charlotte looked like William, or at least the Windsor side of his family. I agree that their youngest looks the most like Kate.
I see middleton resemblance in all 3 but Louis looks more like a middleton. He looks,like uncle james imo.
Agree, unfortunately Charlotte looks more and more like William to me – hope she grows out of that for her sake – and I see Michael Middleton more in George than in Louis who looks just like Kate IMO. Anyway, happy birthday Louis! I love the teeth missing, it’s adorable 🙂

I saw a picture of Sarah Chatto when she was little and felt like there was a resemblance with Charlotte. Both very cute.
Sarah and her brother look like their dad Snowdon. Sarah wore the same hairdo that Charlotte wore at the same age. She has different shaped face and use. I never saw a resemblance. The Snowdon genes seemed be dominant. Sarah looks like her half sisters who are also snowdons.

😂 I feel Kate no longer wants to be connected to the terribly photoshopped pictures, and thrown under the bus , so she’s no longer taking the pictures.
It still looks photoshoped as hell, everything is really smooth.
My favorite of the Wails kids. Idk why – I guess because he shows a glimmer of personality. I also think he’s the most physically attractive of the lot – not that the other two aren’t nice looking, he’s just the best IMO. I certainly hope he doesn’t take after his Grandpa Middlebum – that man is hard to look at.
He definitely seems more confident and full of character. Here’s hoping he grows out of his Middleton resemblance…they are an unfortunate looking lot.

Cute kid, adorable gap, and he looks four years older since last year. I feel badly that these kids need to grow up in front of the public. Hopefully he has a fun birthday surrounded by friends and family, has the gift he wanted/ needed and loved the cake.
I absolutely hate the middle-aged Tory styling they put these boys in. Do an anyone know a 7-year old who would choose this outfit for picture day? (Or a fucking suit to go watch tennis/ football)?
A public figure I follow who hasn’t been showing her newborn baby’s face suddenly started after 6 months or so and it is jarring and disturbing. I get that whiplash from following the Sussexes who uphold their kids privacy to these kinds of posts from the royals. Yuck.

It’s Prince Andrew he reminds me of. The Middleton/Goldsmith men are all quite smarmy looking, hope ultimately he doesn’t resemble them.

Nice picture of Louis looking much older than in recent photos. Louis has changed a lot from last year, and he’s lost his adorable baby cheeks along with the loss of his front teeth. I’ve always thought George looked like his maternal grandfather and Louis looked like a Middleton as well.

They do this as propaganda to maintain their lifestyle. It doesn’t matter who the kid looks like or if he’s cute. They are trying to create a parasocial attachment so that it is less unlikely the people remove their funding.
And they don’t care how this affects Louis especially as he’s starting to get media coverage similar to Harry.
What decent parent would ever subject their child to this?
