As many of you noticed in yesterday’s BAFTA coverage, Kate Winslet was looking strange at the awards ceremony. Many asked the hard question: did Kate Winslet get something done to her face? It looked mysteriously “tight” and her eyebrows looked a little high. Was it just makeup… or perhaps just one or two bad photos of her? Or did Miss Natural get something done? I honestly don’t know, but I suspected Kate had gotten something done back in November of last year, when she appeared at the Bambi Awards in Germany looking a little puffy (and perhaps post-surgery). A lot of didn’t think she looked weird, but it would make sense if she had something done last fall, and we’re only noticing it now, just because she’s not photographed that often. You be the judge:
Anyway, since Kate won the Best Actress Oscar last year, she is going to be a presenter at this year’s Oscars. Likely she’ll be presenting Best Actor, and she’ll probably be presenting it to Jeff Bridges. This annual celebration made People Magazine ask Kate the big question: where do you keep your Oscar? Kate’s answer: the bathroom.

Last year’s Best Actress winner, for The Reader, keeps her golden statuette in the bathroom so guests “can sneakily have a little [hold] and put it back down again,” she told the U.K. TV show GMTV on Monday.
Her reason for storing it there, she says, is “because basically everybody wants to touch it, everybody wants to hold it and go ‘Oh, my gosh,’ and ‘How heavy is it?’ So I figured if I put it [in there], then people can avoid the whole, ‘Where’s your Oscar?’ thing.”
Winslet, 34, also walked the red carpet at the annual BAFTA awards in London Sunday, and says she relishes the chance to dress up in award season.
“It’s great to wear lovely dresses and to just experience those moments of dress up, especially as a mum, because,” says the mother of two, “you get so few moments to feel good in your own skin and wear a lovely gown.

That’s cute. I’ve read that Kate’s Sense and Sensibility buddy Emma Thompson keeps her Oscar in the toilet too, as does Sean Connery. InStyle Magazine always does a piece on where stars keep their Oscars, and it always amuses me. Some people build special display cases for their Oscars (like Kevin Costner), while others just put it on the bookcase with all their other awards (like Dustin Hoffman). Where will I keep my Oscar, you ask? I will put mine by the bed, if not in bed with me. Just because!

Nah, she looks natural to me, a lot of make up. Those eye brows are too thick.
after looking at these pictures i would say that she definitely did have work done. she looks like a totally different person. what a shame. she was really pretty before!
I don’t think she’s had anything done. She seems to be the kind of actress who will want to have full use of her face as she gets older. In the last two pictures you can see that she’s starting to get lines around her eyes. She’s still so young, I can’t believe she’s already getting this kind of attention.
I would guess botox, maybe one of those “mini-brow lifts” they do with botox? I googled a picture of her from when she won an Oscar for The Reader and she doesn’t look changed enough to make me think surgery, but definitely botox. She doesn’t look bad, just sort of “generic Hollywood”…

She does look squinty somehow – but I wouldn’t say necessarily surgeried, especially seeing the airport pics on Lainey.
To me it kind of looks like she’s in slight pain, as if she’s wearing contacts that scratch, or is having an allergic reaction to something and is trying to avoid rubbing her eyes and wrecking her makeup.
I can’t imagine any surgery you’d have voluntarily that would make your lower eyelids look higher and permanently half-closed, and yet would still leave you with those little circle under-eye wrinkles she has… but a sinus issue or itchy eye of some kind would make her squint like that, and the redness would probably require a huge amount of concealer, which she seems to have on…
In any case, I’m just glad she left off the fake tan she tried a while back.
It’s kind of strange that her right eyebrow is higher than her left eyebrow in every single photo. She definitely looks like she’s had a brow lift and an eye lift and some lip plumpers. Between these photos and the ones taken in the airport, her face hasn’t moved.
Something about the eyes…they seem smaller.
It’s hard to tell from these, but if the airport photos anna linked to are really from only a few days ago, then I would say no, nothing done, just make up. Her face does look a little tighter than usual here, but in the other photos she looks the same as she always has.
She’s one of my favorite actresses on and off screen, so I hope if she does get work done, it’s not overboard.
If you are going to write an article like this the least you could do is offer side-to-side comparison of an older picture of Kate… like one from the Oscars last year as a comparison.
I think she has had something done. Her face looks waaay different than it did a year ago. The brow area particularly. Make-up cannot do that.
I think she’s just squinting in the lowest photo, making her eyes go upward. Mine do that.
She’s changed the shape of her brows, its a slight difference but it is a difference. I don’t think she’s had anything done other than maybe some MDB facials.
looks like a lot of makeup and her squinting to me. i see no change in her lip or brow area. her right eyebrow always is a little higher than the left, and it looks no higher now. and i can see a few small wrinkles around the eyes and a faint one on her forehead.
just TONS of makeup, if you ask me.
Seems like she may of just had some botox. Makeup also makes a person look completely different from day to day. I can look a certain way one day, change my makeup and look way different.
I’m going with mini brow lift and something to the eyes. Too bad.

She looks slightly “refreshed”, maybe she has had some work done on her eyes, or maybe it’s just the make up, or the hair color, or the lights… hard to say.
Definitely a little botox, but I’d say that’s about it. I’d say most of the effect is due to a lot of make-up.
Her hair seems lighter, as well as her makeup, and her brows have been trimmed differently. I don’t think she’s had any work done. She still has the same lines around her eyes. If you’re gonna get botox, wouldn’t you get rid of those?

It looks more stream-lined somehow and the tip looks less prominant. As for her brows hasn’t the right brow always been a little higher/more arched? A la Angelina Jolie, lol…It’s a little trick to look inquisitive or just cute I think.

If she got a eye lift/botox she blew her money since you can still see a wrinkle in her forehead and small lines under her eyes. I still think its weird camera angles and odd makeup. There’s another picture of her at the post-BAFTA photo shoot with a straight on shot of her looking straight at the camera, and she totally looks the same.
She’s lightened her brows and raised the arch for sure. Beyond waxing and coloring her brows, I can’t tell if she’s had anything done. The lighting and make-up make such a big difference too. And yes, Stephers85, this is the creme of gossip sites. There are occasional interlopers from crass blogs every once in a while, but not often. Hooray for Celebitchy, agreed.

I agree with the posters who say it’s a little botox and a lot of make up and lighter hair. I look like two different people with and without makeup and I only wish I looked as stunning without it as Kate does. If she did have any work done, it’s minor and really, who could blame her when you work in that industry? I would certainly have ‘a little work done’ if I could afford it. She looks gorgeous and I still think she’s the genuine article, regardless.
I looked at the airport pictures and thought, “Wow, she’s beautiful and looks very natural.” The pictures at the top of the page, however, look too much like Madonna for me to think she hasn’t had something done. I know it’s her right but it still makes me sad.
Oh please!!!!! The girl hasnt had anything done except maybe her eyebrows thinned out. She’s absolutely gorgeous and doesnt fit the “Hollywood Plastic” scene. I agree she has Class written all over her.

She has had her nose done. It is smaller and doesn’t dip down as far over her lip. It has completely changed her appearance. It reminds me of Jennifer Grey. She had her nose shortened and narrowed and she was almost unrecognizable. I wish people wouldn’t change their noses. It gives a face so much character.
Seems like she had some Botox which would make her a total hypocrite. But I choose to believe it’s just makeup cause I love her.
SH*T! Kate was one of the last natural beauties. Now her eyes are all funny, plus some other things look “different.” It is NOT an improvement. So sad she gave in to this craziness.
She looks exactly the same. She’s always had those lips. She’s always had that nose. She looks a bit different because she thinned out her eyebrows and waxed them in a different way. You’d be surprised how different just changing your eyebrows makes you look. That’s probably what people are seeing when they say “I can’t put my finger on it, but something is different”.
She’s also lit poorly in that photo from the Oscars. At the Baftas she’s got lights blaring in her eyes and she’s lit like a Christmas tree. I expect she’s squinting.

I know people lover her but don’t let that cloud your judgment. She looks as if she had a brow lift. thinning out your brows do not give your eyes a squinty look. her nose looks different as well. I do believe that her nose has been shortened.
Kate Winslet is a great actress but she did have things done over the years like many others.
She first advertised her voluptuous figure saying she will never change it not wanting to resemble those blond American starlets and that she will never do anything to her volupruous silouhette, being the poster girls for the natural real voluptuous women.
Then months later she appears blond with a new thinner silouhette she heeps on maintaining saying something along the line that it’s better for Hollywood. She caved in and got to the Hollywood program after she decided dumping her husband for her lover and moved for good to the US where the press wasn’t all over her because of her affair and unfaithfulness to her british husband with an merican producer.
After that she did a slight nose job. She had a strong nose a la Steffi Graff before.
I remembered a few years ago, like maybe 4/5 years being struck by her amount of deep wrinkles and today she looks much more fresher around the eyes. So wether it is a eye brow lift or botox, she did something there too.
Not to belittle her, but yes, she is exactly like any other actresses and transformed herself from the chubby red hair strong nose 22 year old star to the diktat of Hollywood thin blond to the point that after her new silouhette and blond hair she was called on her hypocricy in the UK after all the campaign she made about liking her natural self and not wanting to resemble Hollywoodian starlets.
Nose job, mid-face lift with cheek implants, botox in naso-labials and forehead, filler in chin scar and elsewhere. Facial skin resurfacing with either a peel or fraxel. Good work.

Looks like heavy, makeup in the wrong shades. A desperate need to fix her eyebrows. I know when I don’t manage mine my whole face looks different. I’m thinking at least something done to her skin…maybe botox or a chemical peel. Not sure what is up with her eyes.

She looked completely normal when she arrived at the airport 1-2 days earlier. That’s definitely not enough time to have had surgery or even to have botox making much difference. My vote is that it’s make up.
I don’t think she looks all that different, apart from the lighting techniques. There’s a butterfly lighting technique being used in the old Oscar picture, giving her face (or any face) that little shadow shape under the nose. I use it in studio lighting all the time. In the BAFTA shots, she’s being bombarded with endless, direct flashes at eye-level, and it’s only natural she’d squint a little. That being said, I’m sure she’s done Botox in the past like EVERYBODY has in hollywood. But she’s breathtaking and a very good actress anyway.

Yes. She’s had work done. The pics make her face look distorted. The brows are too arched toward the temples (Heidi Montag), the forhead is too plumped up (umm, Heidi Montag). Thanks Heidi, we would never know exactly what the results short term would be – that is your contribution to society. Well done. But Kate – don’t pretend that you haven’t had work done. We don’t care about natural, but honesty still has some value.

i think she looks about the same. her makeup is heavier though so i wonder if that had something to do with it. she still has wrinkle lines on her forehead and under her eyes so if she had botox that would be the first to go. she looks as though she has thick make up on and was staring to a bright light. i couldnt imagine kate getting anything done to her face.
I think her eyebrows are throwing everyone off. Even comparing those two pictures, her eyebrows look so much thinner. Kate’s left eyebrow (the one on *our* left in pictures) has always been more arched than the right one. Go look up pictures of her and see for yourselves. Thinner eyebrows make it even more noticeable. I think she changed the grooming of her eyebrows, and is wearing a lot more makeup that gives her a kind of glow. There were candid pictures of her arriving to London completely natural and she didn’t look different, so there’s no way she actually got surgery or something. It would certainly take more than one day for a cosmetic surgery to heal properly. In terms of Botox, if she used Botox then it failed miserably because if you look in many other pictures from this event, there are wrinkles around her eyes, under her eyes, on her forehead. The wrinkles around her eyes would be smoothed out if she raised her eyebrows or something. Keep in mind that she’s only 34 so people shouldn’t expect a million wrinkles. Also keep in mind that she’s lost weight in her body and in her face. She generally has kind of harsh features so the slimmer she is, the more ‘harsh’ she looks. People are throwing out the word Botox way too much without taking things into consideration. This woman seems to be so practical and grounded, I can’t imagine her sitting in a doctor’s room waiting for surgery or waiting for injections. It just wouldn’t do. It’s like Emma Thompson getting plastic surgery, the two don’t mix. I don’t see her becoming a Nicole Kidman who denied that she got work done. Do you hear Kate denying or doing anything? She probably doesn’t even know that others are gossiping about her and speculating she had work done. I can’t imagine what she’d think if she reads some of these comments. I assume she’d be really upset. Besides, if she actually got work done, the media would be all over it because it’s a story they can easily grab, using Kate’s past comments about cosmetic work against her. So yeah I don’t think she did anything. She honestly doesn’t look so different. The only things I found different between those pictures were that her eyebrows are groomed differently, her hair colour, she’s wearing different kind of ‘glowy’ makeup, and she’s slimmer. Don’t forget the wonders good makeup and grooming can do.

my one eyebrow is always up in pictures, i try to get it to go down but it keeps going up! and i have not had any work done, lol. (shoot botulinum paralyzing toxin into my face? puh-leez! one of the sickest inventions ever.)
She doesn’t look like she had anything done. The picture from a year ago looks like she’s probably 10 pounds lighter. The picture for this year she looks like she’s got a healthy weight on her.

Yes I agree with the ones who say she has had a nose job. This is turn makes her eyes look squinty and her mouth appear fuller.
Kate has definantly had her NOSE refined with some thinning on the base with a slight tilt upward for the youthful little girls nose; and there’s also some Botox on top of a complete Laser peel to her entire face to complete this MINUS of about 10-15 yrs off of her face.
Also the Blonde hair casts more LIGHT upon her face as well. As darker colors on aging faces tend to give a deadening / harder appearance… Older people fear BAD LIGHTING!
She looks supurb! Doctors did an EXCELLENT job and she is so happy about it that she is SHINNING IN YOUTH!
If you have the money you can spare, then why not find the best Artist to preserve your best qualities as long as you can.
She is thinner too, of which older people loosing weight sometimes need a little help to making sagging skin disappear (whether by shrinking creams, peels, or thread internal lifts through their foreheads. mini LIFTS,–you name it.)
If you don’t mind the pain-go for such gain~ and eat perfect foods to aid in elasticity.

She looks like maybe she’s taken some tweezers to her eyebrows, but that’s about it. POSSIBLY a bit of Botox, but I don’t think that counts as having had “work done”. I think she looked better in the older photo, but she’s always going to be stunningly beautiful.

Botox absolutely counts as “work.” Any attempt to change your appearance, even slightly, counts as work. Even exercise. You’re working on your body and face to change the look and feel of it.
I have no doubt that Kate has had work done over time. She has already proven over and over again that she’s a hypocrite. She says one thing but does something totally different. Also, don’t forget that she smokes like a chimney. She has to have work done to keep her skin looking young. Smoking is one of the worst culprits when it comes to premature aging.
LOL!!! Oh come on!!! Of COURSE she’s had work done!!! I’m a Makeup Artist, and there is no product on the planet that would make your face look like that. Such a shame…Kate is beautiful, but I’m sure she finally gave into the pressure that all women in Hollywood face.
She’s had her nose refined, and a brow lift, as well as some filler in her cheeks to combat nasal folds IMO. She looks fabulous.

Now she looks like every other plastic woman in the film industry. Does anyone ever notice that they are all beginning to look alike? It’s funny actually.
