There have been rumors swirling about a possible Brad Pitt Oscar appearance for several weeks now. Initially, the reports were about Angelina and Brad both attending the Oscars to “fight the rumors” of their alleged breakup/relationship trouble. But it was quickly established that Angelina would be filming in Europe around Oscar time, so she wouldn’t be coming. After that, many outlets wondered aloud if Brad would make a solo appearance, especially given that his film, Inglourious Basterds, was up for several awards, including Best Picture.
I kind of hoped it was true, that Brad would show up and present something big, but he’s not going to. These photos are of Angelina and Brad in Venice today. Unless he’s got a plane that travels at the speed of light, he’s not coming. Which kind of sucks. He was part of one of the best films of the year, and he should come out to support it, in my opinion. I mean, I get that he’s kind of “over it” at this point – “it” being all of the Hollywood stuff, I guess. But still!
By the way, I’m so over the beard, it’s not even funny. I had to find an older photo of Brad sans goat beard just to write about this:

Brad didn’t attend the Oscars when Babel was nominated ,only the Globes because he was nominated for an individual awards. Many actors don’t attend awards unless they are nominated or are a presenter.In 5 years Brad and Angie have never attended any awards show unless they were nominated. BTW Angie is filming Monday. According to radaronline they attended a child’s bday party hosted by Angie’s director.

Maybe the beard is all part of a strategy. He ain’t no spring chicken anymore and the beard ages him a bit more. So when he shaves it off it will totally make (tabloid) headlines and we will see that impossibly gorgeous face, looking like he is 25 again.

They said in late January that they would not be attending the Awards shows. The Oscar people and some blogs were the ones speculating and hyping it. They don’t do Awards show. I remember the year The Departed won.. Matt Damon was not there, and there was no flack of him not supporting his film. How many times have we watched the show and the actual winner was not there to accept the award. The Oscars have lost all the litte cred they had for me. Too many PR moves to get ratings. This used to be a class act event. Not anymore. I used to watch this show every year with my family. We had huge Oscar parties.. so much fun. well no more. Sad..but this show is so Dlist and that really sucks.
Brad is with his family. Nothing wrong with that. and we all know if he had gone the headlines would read Brad deserts his family for Oscar fun.. Brad says enough I am off to the Oscars. I have no doubt the rag interns are spinning a tale for next week as we type. sick.. so what he is not going. focus on the celebs who are nominated and will attend. Glad he is still in Venice.. and I for one love seeing this man dress up.. Perfection.. so let the Oscars go on without the Brange.. and me too.
He did support his film by promoting the hell out it. He went to the premier in Berlin, Japan, Spain, and Cannes. On top of that, he did a guest appearance on the Bill Maher show, magazine interviews, a SAG presentation with the IB crew. What more should he do? He’s a supporting actor in the movie. This is Quentin’s and Christoph’s moment to shine.
Cher once said that sitting in the audience watching the Oscars was like watching paint dry. That was her answer when someone asked her if she was going that year.
I imagine Brad thinks the same way. He has never gone to the Oscar ceremony unless he himself is nominated. And why the gossips and ragmags thought he would leave his family and fly 11 hours to sit in the Oscar audience is beyond me. That would have been totally stupid and exhausting!! The people who go to the Oscars who are not nominated in some way are usually the C and D-list celebs who need some easy PR.
As for the beard . . . I love it, Brad loves it and his woman loves it. Everybody else should just STFU about his beard and the way he looks. If you don’t like the way he looks, don’t look at him. And the beard is NOT for a movie, it’s for him because he wants it.
Oh, and the only award show Melanie Laurent went to is the one where she was nominated. Otherwise, she’s been missing from the scene also. Does that mean she’s not supporting IB either?
I am happy Brad is with his family. Plus there is always so much drama if he goes anywhere alone. Like they should be joined at the hip, while other A listers are seen coming and going everywhere alone. When Brad or Angie do it the tabs , and site just like this one have a rumor field day. So to bad, he supported the film and now he is supporting his family.
He wants nothing from Hollywood or his fans right now.
But, if and when he does, he’ll be back, all clean and pretty.
I think that Brad Pitt is an awesome actor and has shown it time and time again since his beginnings! He does get overlooked and it sucks for those of us who are his fans. However, I believe he has priorities in order from what I can see. I think he is in no way required to attend the Oscars “to support” the movie he was in. He supported it with promoting it, as was already stated, and his excellent performance in it, which added to its success and made alot of money for its producers, etc. He has the right, just like anyone else, to NOT attend something in lieu of another commitment – namely being with his family!
@Girl – I am with you – he does have an impossibly gorgeous face! I support his right to wear a beard, but I would love to see his beautiful face sans beard again! (This coming from a woman who normally LOVES facial hair on a man!) His face is just too perfect to cover it up so much! I miss seeing it and was so glad for that older photo used in this article!Either way, love him as an actor!

@DoMaJoReMc: I have a feeling Brad’s been going through some kind of mid-life crisis for the past year or so, commenting on mortality etc, and growing that godawful beard is one way for him to face and accept the fact that he is no pretty boy any longer and he’s going to get old like everybody else. Face it, there is no preventive for old age except dying young. (As for the old-man effluvia, a dose of Old Spice usually takes care of that.)
FYI – that “old man smell” comes in your 60’s or 70’s!!!!! Brad Pitt is hardly ready for that! You people are unreal! There IS life after 40!!!!! And a good life I might add! If they didn’t want to do the Hollywood thing, they’d just quit movies altogether and do theater for a couple of years. They certainly have enough money to give us all a break from their faces and their unsubstantiated, yet omnipresent drama.

When they robbed Quentin of the Best Original Screen Play the show ended for me. Give the man is due. I am glad the JPs said no this year. Missed seeing them, but dang that show sucked.. well the part I saw anyway to be fair.

I remember the press was spreading the rumors of their breakup and Jolie put out a statement that she was ‘picking out a dress for the Oscars’…obviously a lie.
I think they will definitely break up & it has nothing to do with Aniston. Depp’s gf is also concerned that he is with Jolie in a film…Jolie has bad karma and it will follow her wherever she goes.
Brad deserves so much better, I hope he sees the light and cuts his losses; don’t have any more kids w/her!

Brad and Angie said months ago they were not going to the Oscars. And Vanessa Paradis is not in the least concerned that Johnny Depp and Angie are starring together in a film.
Go read a good book and leave the tabs alone.
