Katherine Heigl has traded in her sun-kissed blonde locks for a really dark shade of brown. She’s gone darker before, in that movie 27 Dresses (which sucked). But this is the darkest I’ve ever seen her hair, and it does not look good. I’m not one of those people who is always like “Blonde is better, lighten your stuff up.” It depends on the person, and I am a very happy brunette, and always have been. But Heigl needs to go back to a lighter color. Because this stuff looks like the Britney Spears “I’m goin’ crazy y’all” Special.
Meanwhile, it’s looking more and more like Grey’s Anatomy producers and writers are totally done with Dame Heigl. Entertainment Weekly’s gossip guy claims that Michael Ausiello’s sources claim that “no one knows” how much longer Heigl will be hanging around, bitching and moaning. Here’s more… but beware, there are SPOILERS about other cast members:
It looks like Grey’s Anatomy will be down two doctors next season, and, believe it or not, neither of them are played by Katherine Heigl!
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Mercy West transplants Robert Baker (Dr. Percy) and Nora Zehetner (Dr. Adamson) are not expected to return next season.
There’s no official word on the fate of fellow “invaders” Jesse Williams (Dr. Avery) and Sarah Drew (Dr. Kepner), but there’s buzz both may stick around long-term. Grey’s boss Shonda Rhimes has until June to decide whether to exercise the series regular options in their contracts. (Here’s hoping she does; I like those two.)
Heigl’s MIA Izzie, meanwhile, will reappear in April. But for how long? Confides an ABC source: “No one knows.”
Thoughts? Will you miss Percy and Adamson? Should Rhimes keep Avery and Kepner around? And are you so over the Heigl drama? I kind of am.

Since Heigl isn’t due to return to Grey’s for a while, I’m thinking the dark hair is for a character, probably for a film. Who knows, though? She probably just pitched a fit to her hairdresser and he was like “I’m gonna show this bitch how nondescript she really is.”

i still like her. she needs a filter between her brain and her mouth, but i like her.
and her hair was about this dark though a bit redder on the last few seasons of roswell-though it’s been awhile and I could be completely off base there.
The only positive thing I have to say about Dame Heigl is that I really like her boots. With that, I’m out.
Dude, Grey’s Anatomy is still on!?
I don’t like her that much, but I do like the dark hair.
kaiser, do u realize that every time a celeb goes blonde or goes away from blonde, u say she looked better blonde? I think u might be harboring some desire to be blonde. I think she looks fine
The dark hair might be for a movie – I heard she’s been cast as Stephanie Plum in the adaptation of the Janet Evanovich books. Which I happen to think is a horrible, horrible casting choice, but hey…that would explain the dark hair (the character is of Hungarian heritage).
Not that many people are going to look better dark if they look great with light hair – light hair is very easy to wear for most, dark brown or black — not so much.
She may have darkened it to feel closer to her child, isn’t her baby dark haired?
I like it alot actually! When you naturally pretty you can wear any hair color. I like Katie! She speaks her mind!
I think it looks fine.
Her baby is asian!! I doubt she dyed it to resemble her child! Good idea tho
She looks totally normal. Needs some highlights maybe. I like her better as a blonde.
to Adrienne…
I’m a HUGE fan of those books (and not only because I live in central jersey and shop at the same mall that Ms. Plum does!) and when I heard she was cast as Stephanie, I was extremely disappointed.
as were most of her fans on facebook. but Evanovich sold the rights before the first book even came out, so she’s got no say in the casting.
oh, and Stephanie is of Hungarian AND Italian heritage, which is where she claims to have gotten her “unruly brown hair” from. 🙂
At least Heigl quit smoking.
I used to watch Grey’s Anatomy and even DVR it if I was going to be out…….now, I really don’t care if I miss it. Not sure why. Maybe I miss George?
@Adrienne- WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Obviously, I had not heard this. OMG, this is so disappointing. She’s a good actress, but that is HORRIBLE casting. I love Stephanie Plum. I have to have a little cry now.
Oh, and I don’t think her hair looks bad, but they didn’t die her brows dark enough.
I love the Stephanie Plum books and I don’t get all the horror at the casting of Katherine Heigl!! The Plum script has been rolling around Hollywood for years and nobody wanted to do a movie. Now, Heigl, who has had several hit romcoms, has agreed to play the part and the movie is being made. Fans of Evanovich should be happy, not angry. They should be glad somebody wants to put money into doing the movie, otherwise the script would still be laying around gathering dust. I think Katherine Heigl will do a good job. Personally, I’m anxious to see who they get to play Lula and what hottie will play Ranger.
I don’t know, I could’ve seen Sandra Bullock or someone like her in the role, but not Heigl–she’s just too self-righteous. And pretty much all of her romcoms so far, while perhaps financially successful, were incredibly formulaic and treacly (except for Knocked Up, which she of course slammed).
I do agree with you though about being excited for the casting of Lula and Ranger. And how about Morelli?! they better get someone sexy… Haha, and maybe Betty White for Grandma Mazur?
Oh now, she can’t be Stephanie :-/ Hope these are just rumors.
She looks pretty either way, I loved that movie “27 dresses”. I like her.
To all those blond butterfaces out there, dye your hair back to the natural color and nobody will look twice. Reality. Harsh. You know you’re hot when people notice your bone structure at the traffic light.
It might be the sloppy outfit she’s wearing.
I try to keep my hair a light brown shade, but it fades so easily to a brassy blonde. I wish I knew the trick to keeping it a nice brunette shade. Leaving it natural isn’t an option, I’m at least 25% gray now.
Hey wait a minute!!! I just remembered – look how much Heigl looks like Britney – very similar facial features. They’re both Sagittarians, too.
darker hair looks bad, darker eyebrows look worse.
@JC126
Right? “She’s a sag” is what popped in my head when someone mentioned that there seems to be no filter between her brain and her mouth.
Heigl bores me either way. The only woman who manages to look boring as a blonde.
I like it and I think it actually makes her look more interesting/exotic TBH. Its more of a nicer contrast for her than that VERY boring hair colour that she had in that dull 27 Dresses movie.
Best thing about Katherine Heigl is her cute baby.
I just don’t care for her. And reading about how she’s been bitching incessantly (for years now) about the show that made her a household name hasn’t made her any more endearing to me.
Oh, yes, yes, yes . . . Betty White for Grandma Mazur!! That would be amazing!! And Morelli? Who could play Morelli. They need two hotties for Steph’s lovers and one had better be a hot Hispanic or I’m screaming.
Katherine Heigl IS boring. I watched the very first few episodes of season 1 of “Grey’s Anatomy” and stopped pretty much because of her. I just found her annoying. (Also I thought the show degenerated quickly, but that’s neither here nor there).
Having said that, I do find her less annoying in movies. I’m a huge Janet Evanovich fan and honestly, I’m not disappointed if she is going to play Stephanie Plum. I think Sandra Bullock is a teensy bit too old. Ten years ago she would have been perfect. Now, not so much. Heigl will be fine as long as she doesn’t act ditzy, which seems to be her usual acting technique. My fingers are crossed.
On a side note, when I was reading the books, I always pictured Ving Rhames as Ranger. Now I think he’s probably too old for that as well, but anyone else have any Ranger suggestions?
Heigl’s a show-killer. Gray’s should have dumped her after she p-ssed on the entire writing staff. Good riddence. I predict her movie career will be just as successful as Shelley Long’s.
