Last year, Alicia Keys was embroiled in a relatively sleazy scandal. The scandal didn’t become epic, and splashed all over the tabloids, but it still dinged her reputation significantly, in my opinion. The basic gist? Alicia Keys is a homewrecker. Not only did she “steal” another woman’s husband (Swizz Beatz), but his wife Mashonda called her out on it publicly. There’s a lot of backstory, so if you want to read the whole sordid tale, go to this archived story from last September. The basics are: Swizz Beatz and Mashonda were married, they had an infant son, and then at some point circa the summer of 2008, Swizz and Alicia met and fell in love. Some sources claimed that Swizz claimed he and his wife were separated, and that when Alicia found out, she dumped him. But then some other stuff happened and Alicia and Swizz were back on throughout 2009, and then in September, Mashonda called her out publicly.
Anyway, in all that time, Alicia and Swizz have never walked a red carpet together, at least according to Michael K at Dlisted. Although I think that even if they’ve never posed for pictures together, they have sat with each other during various events before, because I seem to remember seeing them together at some event or another. According to Swizz himself, he said his wife was making him choose her or his eldest son. He obviously made his choice. I do think he should of divorced his wife before dating another woman. But when will men ever do the right thing when it comes to that situation.

I read Mashonda’s open letter and my heart really goes out to her. It’s always sad to see a marriage end. I really admire Alicia Keys’ talent and I suspect so does Swizz Beatz. Unfortunately, when a man “cheats with you, more than likely at some point, he will cheat on you”. I know they are engaged and I hope Alicia stretches this engagement out as long as possible. The more time she can spend really getting to know this man, the better. Everything that glitters, isn’t gold.

If Alicia wanted to date swiss beatz and try not to be or look like a whore in this situation she should have waited till his divorce was FINAL. Seperated or not, happy or not you give a married couple the chance to get their affairs in order to get a divorce or work it out. She didn’t do that she continued to see this BOY who wants to act as if he’s a man throughtout their seperation and during their divorce proceeding. Unfortunately, (and I’m sure it doesn’t really matter to anyone) I can no longer support Alicia Keys as an artist. Her songs are geared towards empowering women, and yet she herself is hurting another woman, a married woman at that! Sleeping with her Husband. Most people say that cheating is in our DNA because we are animals( even if we choose not to believe it). Most animals on a general rule have multiple matings(sex partners)but there are some animals like the Macaw that mate with one partner for life(which is ruffly 100 years). Now for people who believe that cheating is in our DNA I say your lieing to yourself! Human beings have surpassed other mammals and developed in thinking. In anytime that he was married to Mashonda and was unhappy than he could have divorced her in that time spand. While the divorce was/is happening then the two should have stayed away until it was finalized because someone filing for divorce can still repair a marriage if the homewercker is not present. Mashonda is a very sweet person. If it was me I would have sue the B! It is Legal to do so you know. Wow,there are a lot of unhappy people out there. Why be so down on someone you really don’t even know or know anything about? Just rumors and what you have heard is all you know. You weren’t there. No one really knows what goes on in any relationship unless they are in it. As to why they separated, who knows. As to when Alicia started seeing him, who knows. As to if she called it off once, and they got back together afterward, ??? I don’t believe she is a homewrecker. I think she will be very good for his kids (all of them). Maybe he finally found the right woman, and hopefully will stop looking now. If not, Alicia is a big girl and I’m confident she’ll be able to handle any situation that comes along. As an outsider looking in, I think that Alicia did a wicked thing. Swizz and Mashonda were happy (maybe not “blissfully” happy, but whose marriage is? anyone who has ever been married, knows that it’s hard work). But Swizz obviously wanted to hop on over where he thought the “grass was greener”. It’s like saying, “Yeah, I love my boo, but if Tyson Beckford looks my way, I’m all his!” I like Alicia’s song, “Karma” – what a walking contradiction that girl is. Looks will come and go and then all she will have is her “inner beauty”…whatever little bit there is remaining (if any)…
