Alicia Keys confirms pregnancy & announces engagement to Swizz Beatz

wenn5488944

To give credit where it’s due, Bossip starting reporting that Alicia Keys had “a gut full of Swizz” three weeks ago. Photos of Alicia on tour have revealed a growing bump, so “Bump Watch: Homewrecker Edition” was already in full effect (I can’t help it, now whenever I see Alicia, I hear CB’s words “Dumb homewrecker” next to her face). In any case, Alicia stepped out last night looking severely knocked up, and another round of rumors was going to commence until a “friend” confirmed the news to People and Life & Style – Alicia and boyfriend Swizz Beatz are expecting their first child together, and they’re engaged.

A wedding and a baby are on the way for Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz.

The musicians “are expecting a baby and are engaged to be married in a private ceremony later this year,” reps for the couple confirm to PEOPLE.

The announcement comes after the two, together since fall 2008, attended Thursday night’s Black Ball in London, which benefits Keys’s Keep a Child Alive charity.

“They’re very happy,” says a friend of the couple.

Rapper Swizz Beatz (real name: Kasseem Dean), 31, has produced music for Keys, 29, and worked with artists including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani.

It will be the first marriage for Grammy-winner Keys – and their first child together. Swizz Beatz is father to Kasseem Jr., 3, and son Prince Nasir, 9, both from previous relationships.

[From People]

Yeah, I know people have money riding on when Swizz is going to leave her like he left his other baby-mamas, but I actually think he’s going to stick around for Alicia. She’s worth more than him, right? And she’s a bigger star. She’ll put him on the map. He’s sticking with it. So congratulations to the happy couple. I think Alicia will be a great mom, I really do.

First, babby mamas is really disrepecful to his exwife and second Swiss was famous way beofre alica, maybe not mainstream, but Swiss prbably has more mone than Alicia , he has produced for lot of artist, anyway can’t stand the double standard on this site, y don’t u mention homewrecker Julia or la Jolie everytime an arte is done on them

  2. Scarlet Vixen says:

Um…plenty of people mention that other women/men are homewreckers, too. Alicia Keys isn’t the first. Nor, sadly, will she be the last. What I don’t understand is why successful, independant women fall for stupid men like this. There are plenty of decent successful SINGLE men out there–why do these women feel the need to steal married men? And yeah, yeah, yeah, it takes two to cheat…but I’ve always stayed the hell away from taken men out of respect for both myself and the other women. But I guess that’s just me…

And wow, girl’s got some kankles!

  3. serena says:

Yeah I love Alicia but that man is really ugly, hopefully the baby will take after his mama only!

  4. cedar falls says:

“Swiss was famous way beofre alica”.

Ah, but he’s MOST famous for cheating on his missus with Alicia Keys! I do agree that Alicia Keys = Rachel Uchitel = Angelina Jolie = Bombshell McGee = Julia Roberts, though. I guess if you’re screwing a married man but you’re famous in your own right you get a free pass…

  5. N says:

Alicia Keys now falls into the category of Leann Rimes – I don’t want to read anything about her until life gives her back exactly what she deserves! Maybe those 4 can double date!

  6. mel says:

That dress is hidious! Alicia better hope karma doesnt kick her in her butt!

  7. Cinderella says:

I thought she preferred the ladies. What do I know.

  8. Exiled says:

Has she always had that “Paris Hilton” wonky eye?

  9. Charity is Chic says:

What they need to do is immediately run to an orphanage and surround themselves with starving orphans. I hear that works like a charm. The media and her fans will eat that crap up real quick. “At least they help people,” etc. Because cheating is totally OK if you can snag a poor downtrodden, vulnerable orphan for a photo op.

  10. lucy2 says:

I think Alicia is gorgeous and talented, but now I also think she’s stupid, and I have a low opinion of anyone who knowingly gets involved with a married person.
The guy dumped his wife and 2 children for her – so SHE is now going to become his wife and have kids with him? How can you watch someone dump his first family and then want to have one with him? I really don’t get it.

  11. RHONYC says:

they look like siblings in the 2nd pic.

    narcissism much?

    *pillow talk*

ak – “you’re the male version of me”
sb – “you’re the female version of me”

  12. Shareka says:

She stole that man from another woman, nothing good is going to come out of this.
    She is a heartless bitch..

  13. a says:

he looks miserable in that photo.

seems like he’s not a fan o’ the condom or commitment either.

  14. Amneh says:

    Homewrecker.

  15. bite me says:

lets add rita wilson, faith hill, courtney cox to the list of homewrreackers….

  16. Stephie says:

He looks ill to me. Not a big fan of hers. Whatever.

  17. once again i guess i’m the only one who thinks she looks nice…
Congradulations to her i think she’ll make an amazing mum ^_^
Swizz looks kinda ill, guess you can’t help who you fall for and you only live once so good luck to them 😛

  18. TG says:

He named his son Prince? Sounds like an idiot to me. So his other baby mamma(s) should thank their lucky stars they were able to unload him on Alycia.

  19. Iggles says:

    @ lucy2:
“How can you watch someone dump his first family and then want to have one with him? I really don’t get it.”

    Co-sign!

Just have a few words for Alicia, which she wrote herself:

    What goes around comes around
What goes up must come down
It’s called Karma baby and it goes around

  20. rraven says:

What is it about “homewrecking” that brings out righteous indignation from people? I am not married and I have never “homewrecked” but I find it really strange that people get all twisted up in knots about it, demonising one woman and canonising the other. Besides I do think there is a big difference between someone who is sleeping with a married person for gifts or money and when a married person leaves their spouse for another partner. It just seems like a bitchy catty thing to be calling Alicia a homewrecker as if all her past achievements mean nothing now because of the way she fell in love.

And if I was married and this happened to me I will be really torn, especially if, from my point of view the marriage seemed solid but the name calling and blame shifting will not change the reality of what has happened or turn back the hands of time. Women always do this, I bet no one calls a man a home wrecker if he “steals” someone elses wife.

  21. Relli says:

I agree with a. Either that was bad shot or he is high.

  22. gracie says:

I understand that some are not happy with the way Alicia and Swizz Beatz
met and started dating….but many, many relationships begin that way.

I am not saying that it’s right, just that it is.

Many solid, decades long Hollywood marriages began that way. And many long lasting, happy regular marriages, too.

  23. gracie says:

@TG: I love the singer Prince. It doesn’t seem weird to me that he is named that. So why not Swizz’s kid?

  24. Leticia says:

Look at him in that photo above – he is starting to morph into Marc Anthony!!! I predict that he will lose tons of weight and get more and more silent. I am reminded of the words to that wind beneath my wings song that I hate, “it must have been cold there in my shadow”…

  25. L says:

Wait how is Faith Hill a homewrecker? Yea she was engaged when she met her husband, but broke it off and as far as I know he was single.

    Same goes for Courtney Cox….

  26. Brittney says:

They should both be ashamed of themselves.

  27. oh hey says:

“What is it about “homewrecking” that brings out righteous indignation from people? I am not married and I have never ‘homewrecked’ but I find it really strange that people get all twisted up in knots about it,”

You may never get a straight answer. It’s a very touchy subject, especially for women. I agree that cheating is wrong, and I’m disappointed in AK because she seemed like someone who’s smarter than that. But sometimes the smartest people make the stupidest choices when it comes to love. I won’t deny that she’s talented because of what she did, but some what she stood for, being independent, sisterhood, etc., no longer seems valid. Swizz Beats and he wife had problems before AK came along. I just don’t see why she, or other women for that matter can’t wait until the divorce papers are signed.

“I bet no one calls a man a home wrecker if he “steals” someone elses wife.”

Good point, Jerry Sinefeld got his current wife by being the “other man.” Shaq also got with his ex-wife, Shaunie, when she was married, not to mention he knocked her up while she was still married to the other man. I’d like to see any one of the commenters who put the label to women say the same about these men.

  28. skibunny says:

Mr. Beatz is lookin beat. Could she not find a better looking SINGLE guy?

  29. MamiwithM says:

I?m sorry, but…what is with the Bobby-Whitney syndrome?
Of all the gorgeous man she could have a child with, off she goes, gets what pretty much looks like a crackhead.
    Seriously….

  30. Tia C says:

    @ skibunny: LOL! Excellent point!

Hope she’s not surprised when he moves on to the next one…

  31. cox & hill says:

Courtney cox homewrecked Michael Keaton’s wife and kid(s)…not. sure about faith. Hill

  32. Bopa says:

    Exiled:
May 28th, 2010 at 9:16 am Has she always had that “Paris Hilton” wonky eye?

    +++++++++++++

    Yes

  33. Bopa says:

Won’t be too long before Alicia will be in the same position as Swiss’s last wife.

    Start the clock…

  34. Liana says:

if it’s really meant to be, simply step back and let the marriage end before you jump into the “girlfriend” or “boyfriend” role. It cheapens the relationship and cheapens the people involved.

  35. I should be working says:

You guys are really nasty. Go get some fresh air; I mean, really! Alicia looks pretty in the pic w/her and Swizz.

  36. jc126 says:

20, 22 – I think people start projecting themselves into the situation of being a wronged spouse and get kind of defensive.
I don’t get worked up about it, particularly. People fall out of love ALL the time, a reality that seems threatening to many.

  37. Chico says:

I TOTALLY agree “oh hey” and “rraven.”

I have real problems w/the homewrecker label, as it’s primarily applied to the “evil other woman,” while men skate away BLAMELESS as usual. While I do agree there are nasty women who are thrilled to bang a married guy (Ms Bombshell who is proud about her affair with JJ), you can’t presume that’s what happened in every situation–ESP. when talking about celebs, or people you’ve never met.

Also, the mentality of the people who use this word is a thing to behold. They presume human beings can be owned and you can steal them. I think this “property” mindset is very frightening. It presumes that all marriages are alike and people all cheat just for sex when there could be many other circumstances involved in a situation. If you are a shallow person in a shallow relationship, then I can see this being the case. Otherwise, it’s very simplistic, stereotypical form of thinking. Many relationships are much more complicated. Some people could be in a bad relationship or one which no longer works for them. So, they meet the one they feel is right for them. Then, they move on and start a new life. It’s not about sex or cheating in that case, it’s about being with the person you feel is right for you.

I haven’t done this personally, but I wouldn’t want to judge people who move on. I know some 60% of marriages fail and people move on. You can’t run around hating everyone who leaves their spouse for someone else. That would make you hate a lot of people out there. Sounds loco to me . . .

  38. Catherine says:

She stole THAT from another woman? Of all the gorgeous men out there and she went after that one? My admiration of her went to zero.

  39. denise says:

    I agree with Catherine.

  40. bite me says:

well i guess mashonda lost him the same way she got him

  41. oh hey says:

    @Chico:

Thanks for that. Keep in mind I do think cheating is wrong and hurtful thing, and while I think Alicia made a stupid decision, Swizz Beats is the real asshole in this situation, especially how disrespectful he was to his (soon to be?) ex-wife during the separation.

Like my mom would say, any woman who “steals” a man from you, you never had him in the first place.

  42. Lilias says:

Oh hey and rraven: The reason homewrecking brings out righteous indignation is because people like that deserve zero respect.

And both of you are wrong in saying that no one ever talks about man-whores going around starting new families with married women. It just doesn’t happen as often as women cheating with married men. ANY person who gets involved with a married person is filth in my eyes.

There is no earthly reason why a person shouldn’t be able to control themselves or keep it in their pants long enough to let a person’s divorce go through. Until then, you are an ADULTERER. Now, I’m not religious at all but having an affair with a married person, to me, means you have no respect for others and their relationships.

I don’t think people can be owned. I think the purpose of marriage is to promise not to get it on with other people AND to not open your heart to others regardless of the problems in your relationship. I feel that if someone who is married doesn’t want to be married anymore, they need to just get a divorce. If you have someone on the side, it’s a safety blanket and a cowardly way to go out. Instead of admitting that you had problems in your relationship, it suddenly becomes “I fell in love with someone else”.

Oh hey: Straight answer? People get twisted up in knots about it because it’s WRONG, it ruins families and lives, it causes depression, feelings of abandonment, anger, sadness.

Basically, just leave married people alone. It’s really not that hard.

  43. Chico says:

@Oh hey. I agree with your momma! Hey, I had a guy do that to me; he did me a favor actually. Right after, I met a really great guy–who I would have said no to b/c I was with the player. Guys like that aren’t worth the time.

Overall, though, I find some of the judgmental attitudes on the internet toward these “alleged cheaters” strange (when no one knows the whole story).

It smacks of personal projection. And, I think all people deserve some respect regardless of how you feel about their personal actions. We’re not talking about murderers or molesters here. People can save their anger for their own spouse and stop being so judgmental. Each relationship and marriage is unque and other people have different beliefs.

  44. Lilias says:

Chico: “Many relationships are much more complicated. Some people could be in a bad relationship or one which no longer works for them. So, they meet the one they feel is right for them. Then, they move on and start a new life. It’s not about sex or cheating in that case, it’s about being with the person you feel is right for you.”

Get out of the relationship if you feel it isn’t right for you. That is the right course of action. As soon as you “meet the one” who they feel is “right for them” while they are still married to the person who was SUPPOSED to be that person in the first place, that is cheating. Period. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have sex.

If you open your heart to someone else while you are still married, you are a cheater. “Moving on” and “starting a new life” should happen when there is no one else involved but you and your spouse.

  45. Camille says:

Well said Chico and jc126, perfectly well said.

  46. McMe says:

“What is it about “homewrecking” that brings out righteous indignation from people? I am not married and I have never ‘homewrecked’ but I find it really strange that people get all twisted up in knots about it,”

Isn’t this the way we are supposed to feel when a marriage is broken due to infidelity? Whether the man or woman helps break the home it is equally wrong.

Marriage is a covenant; “what god has brought together may no man put asunder.” I think that is a call to everyone to not accept anyone contributing in ending a marriage.

What has happened to our society? Everything goes now as long as people end up “happy.” I guess that is why our divorce rate is over 50%. What a shame for the children left behind.

  47. ak says:

That guy? Really? What is he, funny?

  48. jc126 says:

The problem with getting all judgmental is, we’re on the outside looking in – we usually have NO idea what’s going on in a marriage, what some people are really like to live with. Maybe that woman who left her husband for another guy got tired of her husband calling her a b*tch, or had a raging drug habit and ruined her finances, besides the name calling.
Give people a break, seriously. It’s not worth getting upset over.

  49. McMe says:

@JC126 – You have a point…..I just really wish people would try harder when kids are involved.

  50. Westcoaster says:

Homewrecker or not the fact remains the adults better start acting like adults instead of teenagers in high school. There are children involved.Playtime is over, time to grow up

  51. Majosha says:

    Catherine, LOL! So true.

  52. Tracy says:

I TOTALLY agree “oh hey” ,“rraven” and “chico”

Thank you for the voices of sanity! When a man leaves he leaves…he’s not taken.

  53. georgiagrl says:

    Yawn!

  54. Chico says:

    @jc126. I totally agree.

And, I find it funny when people push their views about what’s RIGHT/WRONG, and then, try to shame the people who don’t live up to their standards. I am sure, of course, these people are oh-so perfect in everything, so they can walk around preaching and feeling superior.

  55. rraven says:

Thanks oh hey and others who agreed with me. I understand that being cheated on is really painful and all the feelings of depression and abandonment suck but its a personal thing between the two people involved, I doubt anyone going through a divorce in those circumstances benefits in anyway from an angry mob sneering “homewrecker” or “cheater”. Like what would that change? People make very stupid decisions all the time in the name of love but what can you do? To me its very tricky applying morals to falling in love because 9 times out of 10 falling in love is an unconscious thing. It’s still super bad to me when men/women cheat on their husbands/wives with impunity but usually, I think its more complicated than just great sex or whatever

  56. Kitten says:

Thanks to the logical posters that made some great point about the demonizing of women as “homewreckers”. When will women stop hating on one another? I just don’t get it….
I would never in a million years touch a married man but I also think that many people treat marriage like it’s nothing and rush into things without thinking about what being married really means. I’m not married myself mainly because I treat the sanctity of marriage like it’s worth something. I think that marriages that end in dissolution because people fall out of love or find someone else maybe never should have occurred in the first place..

  57. Missfit says:

I’m not happy for her and his ex wife doesn’t deserve this, from either party, regardless who was originally at fault. I have always like Alicia and thought she was such a self dignified self respecting lady, that she wouldn’t have gone down that route for a married man. I would have expected more and better for her.

  58. Lilias says:

Chico: None of us are perfect but not all of us cheat on our spouses. I judge people who cheat on their spouses because I never have and never will. Just like I judge people who rape, murder, steal, destroy other people’s property, plagiarize. I judge people who abuse wait staff at restaurants. People who lie to get freebies. People who have “accidents” so they can sue others. People who don’t pay their taxes.

There are a LOT of things that people do which are bad that people are allowed to judge others for doing. There is no such thing as a perfect person. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t be disgusted with someone else’ poor choices and possible influence on other people.

I even judge people who are apologists. Like rraven talking nonsense about people making “very stupid decisions in the name of love”. This isn’t a movie. This is real life. With real life comes real consequences. People don’t like cheaters, male or female. There is no “in the name of love”. That’s a bs excuse for “I’m selfish and don’t care about others-I’m just gonna do what I want to do and everyone else be damned”.

  59. Denise says:

I love Alicia Keys and her music. I have to admit that she is making a mistake. However, she is young and obviously blind. I just pray that she will come to know God if she doesn’t, repent for her sins and move on. Those without sin cast the first stone. God Bless Alicia Keys and To God Be The Glory! I will continue to be her biggest fan.

  60. M says:

I don’t understand why the women always get attacked for being ” the homewrecker”? It always seems like no faults the man. HE was the one in a relationship, HE should have kept it in his pants, or at least broken up with his wife before he started dating.

  61. Slymm27 says:

What is this bs about a woman stealing a man? Is he a pair of jimmy choo shoes, or an LV bag? Wth? And you can’t stay on the outside and judge a relationship. Life and especially stuff like relationships, aren’t black and white!

  62. rraven says:

It’s not that cheating isn’t wrong especially when there are children involved and the infidelity leads to divorce. It’s also highly likely that people who leave their marriages in that manner end up regretting their actions when it’s too late to change what it has done to everyone involved. However that doesn’t mean that people on the outside looking in have the right to turn a divorce into a spectator sport calling people names and deciding who is right or wrong. And I wasn’t trying to be an apologist neither can I not differentiate between real life and movies, but I have a thousand and one real life examples where people do the damnest things because they fell in love regardless of how stupid selfish and reckless it is. Looking at Swiss Beatz up there, he has 2 kids with 2 women, and he is galivanting around london with Keys and a new baby on the way, you could assume he is a bad father, and he never sees his kids, but you could be wrong and the whole situation might work out better than appearances might suggest. Darn, Lilias is going to rip me a new one for that I know..

  63. Kelaa Khaa says:

RRaven, you make a good point. Bruce Springsteen apparently was a “homewrecker”, but he is not being villified to the degree that Alicia Keys is; the playground is open for both sexes. Just like women are called sluts by one another when the woman is considered “loose” but there is no such term for a man. Women tend to shiv eachother verbally moreso than men do. That said, I am team Brandi, but only because I have to work in an environment where the music of Leann Rimes is played incessantly and her voice is like a banshee so maybe once she and Eddie start breeding, she will keep quiet for a while.

  64. ViktoryGin says:

In accordance with Chico and Rraven. Nothing more to add.

  65. CB Rawks says:

“anyway can’t stand the double standard on this site, y don’t u mention homewrecker Julia”

That’s so annoying. Is there some reason you can’t type out complete words? Were you in an accident that left you with a single lonely thumb? Homewrecker must have taken five full minutes.
