The Mirror is reporting that Cameron Diaz, 35, has been dating Scottish beefcake Gerard Butler, 38. I doubt this is true, not because I couldn’t see these two together, but because The Mirror has a tendency to make up and heavily embellish stories, and this seems to have originated with them. And unreliable Star Magazine reports this week that Butler was photographed having a romantic lunch and going for a walk on March 21 with actress Laura Harring, 44, who starred in Mulholland Drive. Maybe everyone is single and hanging out, or perhaps there’s something going with Butler and Diaz and/or Harring. For what it’s worth, here’s The Mirror’s report:
My spy in LA caught them sharing drinks at Shutters Hotel last week. He told me: “They walked up to the balcony area to look at the sunset. He had one arm round her waist and the other on the small of her back. She kept giggling and touching his chest to whisper in his ear. They obviously had a good night.”
Cameron, 35, and Butler, 38, have also been out at Teddy’s Bar in the Roosevelt Hotel in LA, where fellow clubbers say there was a lot of “thigh touching”.
And a couple of days before that they dined at The Chateau Marmont hotel.

They could have been together several times, but I’ll wait and see on this one. There are places listed where they were sighted but the dates are not given, they’re just general like “last week” and “a couple of days” and those are all paparazzi hot spots. Wouldn’t there be pictures of them going into or out of those places, not necessarily together? The Mirror is so full of crap usually.
For her part, Diaz says she’s happily single, but acknowledges that she can be intimidating to men. (eyeroll)
She said: “It’s been nice not having a boyfriend for the past year. In fact, it’s the first time I haven’t had one in 10 years and I’m enjoying what I’m getting out of this moment.
“I could be in a relationship if I wanted to be but I haven’t finished doing what I’m doing. But when I’m in a relationship I’m very loyal and committed. I give a lot.”
“I do get asked out. It’s fun. But I’m a lot of woman – in a lot of ways.
“And I understand that can be intimidating.”

Please God say this is made up! I absolutely love this guy, and have since I saw him in Timeline. My wife calls this guy my ‘man-crush’, whatever the hell that means.
Bottom line though, if this is true, I am going to lose sooooo much respect for him. Cameron Diaz is on my short list of the most insipid, vapid, and oblivious celebrities ever to exist. I’ve never seen the appeal in this one-dimensional actress, and I really hope he agrees with that assessment.

I LOATHE Cameron Diaz. She looks like a smushed frog on her best days and she is only capable of playing idiot spazoid chicks. Plus I hate all the damn giggling.
She was such a good looking woman in the Mask. But ever since then she has been nothing but fug. I can’t imagine how someone with such constant horrible skill and no feminine grace to speak of gets any roles aside from that of an extra in a skater/surfer flick.
What a crushing blow, if it’s true. He is normally such a class act. Of course, he was hooking up with Naomi Campbell for awhile on both coasts, so maybe his taste in women really is this bizarre.
am i the only one left in the world that still likes cameron diaz? i think this girl seems like a lot of fun. she seems natural and laid back and very funny. that said, i can’t picture her with Gerard Butler (hotness!) but i guess that could be said for a lot of couples. good luck to them if it’s true!

I don’t know I kind of like Cameron. She seems silly and fun. As for whether or not she’s a good actress -the jury’s still out on that one imo but I did think her performance in Vanilla Sky was good. And yeah she was pretty damn hot in the mask.
Cameron seems like a fun person who doesn’t take life too seriously. I like that about her.
Gerard Butler is hot–but maybe he’s fallen off the wagon again. Not that Cameron isn’t hot, too! She has the best legs in Hollywood. Her movies are annoying, though.

Cameron Diaz is seriously not good enough for the hunky gerard butler. The two simply don’t go well together. Gerard is way too down to earth and too nice for her. Its not that i dislike Cameron, i like some of her movies, but i just think gerard butler is better off with RESPECTABLE actresses who actually manage to keep their life of the praparazzi. This relationship simply feels wrong.

He is known as one of the nicest actos – always taking time for fans or chatting with the crew – and she once pulled gum out of her mouth and put it on someone’s autograph book, and is often seen giving the paparazzi the bird.
PLEASE tell me that this is just rumor and that he isn’t dating someone that immature!
I posted a blog about this on my website as well. However, I am holding out hope that it is all just rumor and conjecture. I have a soft spot for Cammy because I think she keeps it real, but I hope she really keeps her hands off my man!

It’s a damn shame then that this meticulously crafted, psychedelic visual-journey isn’t matched with a screenplay that was given just as much effort. The inbuilt metaphors of the Alice tale are still there however writer Linda Woolverton adds very little in the way of character development or plot undercurrents, seemingly intent on relying on the visual effects wizards and actors to contribute the extra layers. Her biggest missed opportunity is further exploration into the Mad Hatter or even the White Queen – both of whom are half-baked caricatures – with the Hatter coming off as a mere chance for Depp to be quirky, rather than the cleverly-written character with an interesting back story that he should have been. To Woolverton’s credit though, she did manage to concoct some deliriously amusing dialogue for the Hatter and the Red Queen; a small highlight of her script which partially redeems her lack-lustre attempts elsewhere.
