Earlier this week we heard a rumor that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston were shopping a reality show to feature their life as newlyweds after they’d sold their wedding photos to the highest bidder. A lawyer for the Palin family then denied that report, sternly claiming that “While several networks have pitched different concepts, Bristol and Levi have not signed any deal for a reality show about their relationship. Bristol has not agreed to participate in any show. Her focus remains on doing what is best for Tripp and her family.”
You could kind of tell from the spokesperson’s statement that something was in the works but that Bristol’s family did not approve and were trying to discourage her. Now People Magazine is confirming that a reality show is a definite possibility for the young parents. Bristol and Levi are pitching a show, according to People. They haven’t received any offers yet because they want a full season deal upfront instead of shooting a test pilot, as is customary:
Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are, in fact, shopping around the idea of a reality show about their relationship — but the sticking point appears to be the level of commitment on the network side.
“They want a commitment for an entire series, but right now, there’s only been interest in testing this out as a pilot,” a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE, adding that negotiations are ongoing. “There aren’t a lot of options for them out there, and this is their best chance at making a decent amount of money.”
Palin, 19, and Johnston, 20 — parents of an 18-month-old son, Tripp — recently reconciled and are reportedly planning to marry after breaking off a previous engagement in March 2009. Johnston has also apologized to Bristol’s mother, GOP star Sarah Palin, for negative remarks he made about the Palin family after the breakup.
Sarah, 46, has yet to publicly give her blessing to the couple’s reunion. But one person who hopes that will happen is comedian Kathy Griffin — who famously befriended Johnston when they met at last year’s Teen Choice Awards, and visited him in Wasilla, Alaska, on her show, My Life on the D-List.
“I wish the best for them,” Griffin, 49, told PEOPLE at VH1′s Do Something Awards on Monday. “I’ve spent a lot of time with Levi. I don’t think he ever fell out of love with Bristol, and he’s expressed that many times. So, I hope that Sarah Palin does make peace with the situation, because he is the baby’s dad.”
Should Bristol and Levi get their reality show, and get back in Sarah’s good graces, she might be able to offer some tips: Palin’s own reality show, for TLC, has already started filming.

Earlier reports had the recently-reunited couple receiving a lackluster response from the networks. The NY Post quoted an insider who said “Don’t think we should do it. Neither of them have personalities.” We’ve seen how true that is from Levi and Bristol’s brief stints on television. As cute as their little 18 month-old son is, this show would be pretty boring without a lot of manufactured scenarios. Is there any interest in these two beyond the mild schadenfreude we get when we consider how they’re sticking it to Sarah Palin? How many more reality shows can the public stomach? Maybe if Bristol is pregnant again and she admits that’s the reason she’s rushing into marriage at 19 they’ll get some takers. Or maybe if Levi reveals he was boning Kathy Griffin back when they did all those event appearances together they’ll have some scandal to whet the public’s appetite.
Update: Popeater reports that US Weekly’s Bristol and Levi reunion cover story was a colossal failure and sold only 750,000 copies when they hoped to move a million. Now Levi and future MIL Sarah Palin are trying to sell the story and photos of how they’ve allegedly forgiven each other and made up – but there are no takers! They reportedly wanted $150,00 for the story at first, reduced their asking price to a “mere” $10,000, and still can’t sell it.
repulsive. the entitlement of these two is disgusting. freaking grifters.
She reminds me of Lisa Kudrow (sp?) in the face at least.
I think it’s funny that the rep made a fuss denying that they signed on for one, but not that they were shopping one around. As if the networks are beating down their door, instead of the other way around!
I only wish them the best…it’s tough when you are so young—it seems you never make the right choice at that age. 🙁
Oy. Those two are pathetic little famewhores. Please make them stop. They’re turning into a disaster. The only good thing out of this is that they are totally bad press for Sarah Palin.
They need to go to school/finish school and get real jobs like the rest of America. oh and freaking GROW UP.
I blame reality TV. Without it, none of these “personalities” (snicker, snort) would exist.
Can all these morons remove themselves back to Wasilla so we can just forget about them…
Theyve got the personalities of warm oatmeal and Sarah Palin is also barely articulate although she such a trainwreck at least its mildly entertaining…
Bummer. Selling yourself and can’t find any buyers. Like just isn’t fair to the Palins (or Levy). Sob! Sob!
“this show would be pretty boring without a lot of manufactured scenarios”
Well that’s what all reality TV is. It’s not really real. Just cheaper for the networks than paying actual actors.
this is a sexist thing to say but she’s just not cute or interesting enuf. he’s cute but also as bland as butter. they need to get Kathy Griffin to move in with them. that will sell like hotcakes.
the trashy acorn doesn’t fall far from the trashy tree, y’all.
