According to their sources, Mel Gibson is spending a whooping $600,000 A MONTH. On himself. And he wants to give Oksana $6,000 a month in child support – just one percent of his reported monthly expenditures. Of course, in the normal, real-person world, I wouldn’t scoff at $6,000 a month. AT ALL. And after all, isn’t this just Mel’s opening bid? Oksana could jack it up to two percent, easy. And that’s $12,000 a month. Damn, girl:

RadarOnline.com has learned Mel’s lawyers detailed his $7.2 million-a-year slush fund as part of their argument to limit Oksana’s child support for their infant daughter, Lucia, to $6,000-a-month.
The massive chunk of change was at the center of Wednesday’s marathon court hearing in which the Russian musician requested a judge increase Mel’s support payments for their nine-month-old.
While Oksana claims she should be entitled to more, Mel is insisting some of her expenses – such as bodyguards – are a waste. Mel’s lawyers are arguing Lucia is a baby and doesn’t need more than the $6,000 he plans to pay, despite it being only 1% of what he shells out on himself each month.
Team Mel claims his own expenses are not an extravagance but a necessity — the whopping total is just for his living costs and doesn’t even include such luxuries as his private jet.
Yet, as Mel continues to live a lavish lifestyle, he has handed over just $18,000 in child support since last December, according to sources inside Oksana’s camp.
Despite Mel’s admission that he is living-life-large, the Lethal Weapon star protested he was broke in the infamous audio tapes, claiming the millions he made in Hollywood were gone and he doesn’t have “any f**king money!”
Mel slammed Oksana for being a “user,” who pushed him over the edge after already being stretched thin from his incredibly pricey divorce with ex-wife Robyn Moore.
“I don’t have any f** king money! I have to support you and everybody else! I have to sell paintings. I have to sell my box at the Lakers game,” Mel screamed at Oksana, in tape five.
His split from Robyn after 28 years of marriage was a near-billion dollar divorce. With no pre-nuptial agreement, Robyn was legally entitled to half of everything Mel had earned including a host of homes in Malibu and Costa Rica, along with his own tropical island paradise in Fiji.

As always, the finances are always one of my biggest interests in a split. Smart celebrities have always kept their financials separate – that’s how you know Sandra Bullock is a smart cookie, she always kept her money separate from Jesse James’ estate. Mel doesn’t sound like a very good businessman at all, and plus he seems like the kind of a–hole who uses his money as leverage in any argument. It will be interesting to see how this stuff plays out – and what Oksana ends up getting. I hope it’s a lot, honestly. Even though I should be all middle class and think that she doesn’t need that much money, I hope she gets a lot.

I don’t get it. He is an abusive ass, but that doesn’t mean he owes her money. Jail time, maybe, but not a ton of money. His ex-wife, Robyn was/is entitled to a huge chunk, as she was his WIFE, and bore 7 children. Octosana doesn’t deserve anymore than $6k. That is a resonable amount on which to raise one child. IMO.

Seriously, it’s CHILD support, not side piece support. She is getting a house, car, medical insurance and other expenses paid, so the $6000 is basically spending money for her. The baby is a BABY, so she isn’t spending a fortune on food either. Plus I’m sure she gets cash from Dalton.
I know Mel is a douche, but getting knocked up by rich men is NOT a career choice. If she needs to spend more than $6000 plus Dalton’s contribution, which I’m sure is several more thousand, if she needs more than that in spending cash, she needs to get a JOB. After all, she also is getting the nanny paid by Mel, so there is no reason for her not to work if she needs more cash.

Words fail to describe how repugnant this man is, how totally devoid of character or integrity. But the fact remains he did not marry her and he is only responsible for child support. And if that support is based upon earnings accumulated during the 3 years they were ‘a couple’ it will be slim pickings. His prime earning years were during his marriage and that’s why Robin deserves every penny. Oksana should negotiate a reasonable support amount payable until Lucia is 18, indexed for inflation and with a nice balloon payment for when she reaches the age of majority, and simultaneously mount a case against this cowardly bully for assault and battery asking for severe punitive damages. Then she should say good riddance and throw a party.

Since mel is paying for her house, 6000 is more than enough for a 1 year old as I have friends receiving a couple hundred a month and doing just fine. When lucia is older maybe more is needed but she’ll be fine now. Oksana needs to stop being so money hungry or else some might start to believe the extortion claims.

I’ve heard its expensive to raise a child in California, $6000 is a lot to me but, if he has the cash, he should pay for his daughter to live as well as his other kids.
Radar somehow forgot that the $6000 is after expenses and houseing. If this chick wants to sue him for assault and the jury pops him, fine. But she isn’t entitled to anything other than CHILDsupport.

Many people don’t realize that child support is based on the parents’ incomes. In some states minor children are entitled up to 25% of the gross income.
Mel had the option of avoiding this nonsense- by staying faithful to his wife and spending $5 on a box of condoms when he was stepping out.
You either pay now or pay later. He’ll remember this when he’s signing over the child support checks for the next 18 years.
Lucia should not be raised differently because she was the product of an affair. She did not choose to be born. It’s funny how much effort both parents are putting into raising this child after she was born. If only people would think of consequences before that act on impulses…
In California I believe that both of his underage kids are entitled to the same standard of living in the homes of each parent. So if they are living like royalty at Mel’s house they should live like royalty with their mothers too and Mel should pay for it.

I’m kind of torn on this – something about a guy paying only 1% of his income in child support just doesn’t sit right with me. If you don’t want to risk having to pay baby mammas for decades, keep it in your pants or use birth control.

In Hollywood, the allotment of funds when a marriage sours is a strong indicator of the power dynamic/level of guilt in that relationship. Money talks, and you can see the perceived “value” of a person by their payout.

I don’t like Mel, and I don’t think Ox deserved any of the physical abuse and verbal tirades. The man’s nuts. But I think 6k per month is enough to raise a child on very nicely. Most people in this country raise their kids with less than half that. I also believe, wholeheartedly at this point, that Ox was in some ways using Mel to climb some sort of ladder. This doesn’t mean she deserved the abuse, but she’s no innocent bystander in all this drama. Someone from her camp leaked the tapes, (her sister?), and there’s no way to ever prove her being with Mel was based solely on love.

If Mel tries to remove Oksana from his house, or if the baby develops a chronic medical problem, or any other hypothetical scenario in your imagination, then Oksana can renegotiate the child support at that time. Until those disasters occur, she’s not entitled to baby mamma support.

child support is based on percentage of income, not some random dollar amount that is pulled out of thin air. this should be no different. he should just give her the money – the baby will have money for the therapy she will no doubt need, oksana will find another rich guy and mel will (hopefully) fade into oblivion. then we can all get back to our real lives, which take place on far less than $6,000 a month.

Frankly, it’s up to the court to determine the actual “cash allotment” that Oksana will receive for Lucia. The purpose of child support is to provide for the physical well being of a minor child not a “slush fund” for the mother to spend a her discretion.
As Cathy T and others have mentioned, Mel Gibson is paying for Lucia’s upper class home and the expenses necessary to maintain it along with her medical expenses and a nanny. The costs of these items are factored into determining how much additional cash is needed for miscellaneous expenses related to “Lucia’s” day-to-day care. With all the baby’s most basic needs being provided for upfront, what else would a baby really require that would exceed $6,000 per month??? Inquiring minds would really like to know!
Oksana needs “to wake up” and see things as they really are. Mel Gibson has other obligations that are just as important. No. In the state of California, child support is deducted from the absentee parent’s pay(check) AFTER taxes have been paid. Spousal support IS considered taxable income to the person receiving the spousal support. (My Mom’s in family law 😉 )

What’s wrong with 6 grand a month? That would probably be a raise from her pre-Mel lifestyle? Oksana’s sense of entitlement never ceases to amaze me! She has never really grasped the fact that she was Mel’s mistress…not his wife, not a real girlfriend. 4) The state of California uses a formula under Family Code Section 4055 to determine child support payments, however Mel falls within the extraordinarily high income category.

My take. A house, a car, and pay for taxes ,school and health care and 6,000 would be a good number.But that stuff is not set in stone. So she might have to get all that. And 1% minus that stuff is not enough. Kids are not supposed to live poorly with mom and then go to Rich dads house. If I had money I would set my ex up so the kid would be happy.Just because you don’t make it. You didn’t have a kid with a person that is so generous with themselves. He impregnated a woman who isn’t wealthy. It was his choice to not wear a condom. If you do the law she would be eligible for much more. Based on the 17 percent formula. Don’t hate. Enough said! From what I can understand, Oksana signed away any rights to Mel Gibson’s fortune not that she had ANY to begin with. She’s only using Lucia to accumulate money that she’s NOT entitled to. In the end, she’s going to end up with substantially less than what was negotiated during their mediation in May. Child support is tax-free to the recipient but not deductible by the payer.
One parent can claim the dependent exemption.

I couldn’t agree more, but, unfortunately, her mother has used her as a meal ticket from the day she was born. Oksana turned down $15 million because she thought she was entitled, and could get, more. Whatever Mel’s faults (and there are many!), I think he’s the more genuinely loving parent. I’m sure he quickly realized that Oksana doesn’t share Robyn’s maternal qualities, which is why he pays for a nanny to ensure the baby receives the proper care. Let’s face it, if he didn’t care about this child he would’ve made Oksana sign a confidentiality agreement and paid her big bucks to take the baby and go back to Russia. Mel Gibson never deserved, no one does, to be worth any more than several times anyone else. Therefore, he wouldn’t get to keep that money he delusionally believes, most likely, he earned. As for the gold digger, I think she and the baby could get by, even in CA, on about $4000 a month or less if she lived simply. Better yet, take the baby and move in with family. We can’t afford, ecologically, the exploitation and hoarding of capitalism.
