Just a few hours ago, I wrote about the first excerpts from this week’s Life & Style cover story – they got an interview with Angelina’s old drug dealer in New York. I questioned the cover lines, which were all about a “video” that would OF COURSE lead to the destruction of Brangelina. Well, now Life & Style is clarifying a bit, although the story is still kind of crazy. The “video” that proves Angelina was cracked-out on cocaine and heroin, proving the dealer’s story (never mind that Jolie has admitted to everything already)? Well, it’s Jolie’s appearance on Charlie Rose back in 2000. That’s the video proof. That’s the evidence that will destroy Brangelina!
Angelina Jolie may be a UN Goodwill Ambassador and mother of six now, but 10 years ago she got high before appearing on a talk show. In a new revelation, Angelina’s former drug dealer, Franklin Meyer, opens up to Life & Style and reveals that the Hollywood icon used to do heroin and cocaine with him in his drug den at the Chelsea hotel and at her place in the Ansonia in New York City.
Meyer says the starlet was on drugs during her Jan. 14, 2000, appearance on a talk show.
“She was at my place. I was filming her and she’d taken coke,” Meyer tells Life & Style. “She went directly to do The Charlie Rose Show.”
And his story certainly seems accurate. A 24-year-old Angelina went on the show to promote her new film Girl, Interrupted. During the interview, she’s shy and spacey, stumbles and stutters over her words, rambles on about her tattoos and is very fidgety. At one point during the interview, she becomes overly excited when discussing how hard it was to let go of her characters Gia, (from the film of the same name), and Lisa, in Girl, Interrupted, and apologizes as she accidentally hits the microphone hooked to her chest. And Angelina didn’t go home and sleep off her binge after she finished. Meyer says, “She did the show, then she came back over!”

I put the video below – she does seem fidgety and like she’s uncomfortable and perhaps on something. But it also reminds me of nearly every television interview from that time period – Angelina used to give notoriously bad television interviews, and it’s an art she’s had to learn over the years. Honestly, in this video, she seems like she’s baked, not coked up.

She looks horrible in those pictures! No wonder she has done all that plastic surgery. Her nose was very broad and she has a boob job as well. So she is not a natural beauty.
Her pupils are HUGE. She definitely was on something. But then, again, is she the only celebrity who has done an interview high?
That video and older pictures just proves to me that she clearly is not doing drugs now.
So instead of hurting her reputation, they are actually helping. Because the video shows that this is what Angelina would look and act like if she was on drugs, which she does not, on both accounts.
@Heavenbound: You do know this video was shot years after she took pictures as a model and she was beautiful at 16 with big boobs, (before the plastic surgery if there ever was one done). And she looks the same then as now, as well as in this video. She just looked more strunged out with no makeup on.
She’s fidgety and blinky, can’t bring herself to look one place to long; she’s really nervous, whatever she might be on. Whether she was using dirty then or not, I admire the way she has turned her life into a force for good now.

Wow Life and Style!!!!! Your so full of sh*t. Angelina doesn’t look coked out to me. I know its easy to do coke and still be some what put together but seriously I can say someone did coke and then went and did a talk show and post a video of them talking. Where the heck is the proof? She looks normal to me, nothing out of the ordinary to me. Really L&S? Since when does being nervous in an interview mean anything, like really? This was beyond stupid.

Was everyone cracked out in their early 20’s? Most 24 year olds being interviewed would probably sound more dumb and spaced-out that Angie.

Whats so scary is that not even 12 months later after this interview, Jolie’s adoption of Maddox went through. Of course right after the adoption of Maddox, the agency was closed due to illegal adoption practices!
She had to go over seas, no legally respected adoption agency in the USA, would let someone who is strung out on drugs, or has had psychological problems all her life, adopt a child here. She would of never been able to pass the scrutiny. Hence, grease some palms of an illegal adoption agency who works in a 3rd world country and presto, she got a child.
This video compared to Angelina as of today,night and day.This was a decade ago and luckily she turned her life around for the better.Because the same can’t be said about Heath Ledger and River Phoenix…2 talents who were sucked into the abyss of drug addiction and didn’t come out.

Whatever,get your facts straight.Maddox was born Aug 5,2001.Angelina adopted him on March 10,2002 when he was 7 months old.Do the math,it would make it over 2 years from the date of the Charlie Rose interview.At least she got clean before she had a child.I seem to recall Robert Downing Jr being drugged up the first 5 years of his sons life.I don’t hear you complaining about that.
Okay, I don’t really care if she was drugged out of her mind ten years ago. Whatever.
But international adoption in established countries (ie : not pulling a Madonna) is NOT just a matter of greasing some palms. There is a whole host of things you have to do to satisfy the United States requirements (the least of which is filing a petition to be allowed to adopt a foreign child). Plus once you have physical custody and the international side of the adoption done you have to still complete the adoption to US standards.
In Madonna’s case, yeah, she totally bought off some people to be allowed to adopt from Malawi. They don’t even have an international adoption program and she got to skip the US requirements because she lived in England at the time.
But every country AJ has adopted from had an established adoption program prior to her adoption and every single time she’s had to jump through the legal hoops on the American side to get the kids home.
(Sorry I got on my soapbox. But as a mom to 4 kids adopted internationally it makes me furious when people imply that adopting is basically a situation of paying off the right people.)

Hate to break it to some of you, but there have been – and are now – LOTS of people who’ve used drugs at some point in their lives. Just like some/MOST college students that are underage experiment with alcohol – THEY DO! And don’t bother lecturing me with the “alchohol’s legal” bit because it’s NOT LEGAL when you’re underage and not in the company of and with the permission of your parents.
It really bothers me when people act so appalled that someone has used drugs, yet they have no problem with people who are ruthless manipulators and liars and/or cruel and bullying. Many drug users are self-medicating chronic pain of some sort that modern medicine can’t relieve. They aren’t EVIL!

You can tell from the photos she’s had work done on her nose. Tweaked the tip a little but made a huge difference in softening her features. It is more evident in her earlier movies where she was interesting looking, but not stunning like now.

Poor whatever- who is “over”Brad and Angie yet is on almost every thread of theirs. Can you say”obssessed”. Don’t you usually avoid or ignore something or someone you are “over”. As for Lies and Style Their cover says” The video that will Split Brad and Angie” I guess its like the racy pics Star Magazine claimed would split them or the biography that INTouch Weekly claimed would split them. Interestingly enough now Star is claiming she has a baby bump so I guess the racy pics and Morton book turned Brad on or something.
Why is this relevant now? Why is this coming up now?? It shouldn’t matter at this time what she did in the past. The only thing that we should be concerned about is Angie now, and the welfare of her children. That is it!
She seemed nervous, maybe a bit intimidated by Charlie Rose, who is so brilliant and old enough to be her father. His show is usually a serious discussion, which is a lot more demanding for an actor than the silliness of the Entertainment Channel, where all you have to do is smile and talk about your clothes.
I got the impression she really wanted to be liked, and it was sad that she didn’t have any friends. Who knows if she was on any drugs — If she was, I didn’t notice.

She just didn’t have the money to hide it. how ironic a heroin addict gives her child up for adoption only to have it adopted by a heroin addict.
@NayNay: It’s “relevant” because Life & Style obviously had to scrap their planned cover story about Angie having to abandon her movie project, her career ruined, Brad leaving her as a result and taking the kids with him, that got scotched when the Ministry gave the go-ahead to her film. The tabloid editors must have shat themselves in pure frustration. The poor guys had to dig up something about Angie to put on the cover. You wouldn’t expect Life & Style to go a whole week without a Bad Angie cover story, would you? The foundations of the earth would collapse.

Whatever her drug use was in the past, I would bet any amount of money that she was clean by the time she adopted Maddox. I used to have a collection of pictures of that time because she looked so beautiful, natural, healthy, and PRESENT. All those pictures of the two of them in the park, taking walks… Sorry, that’s not a strung-out parent. And I highly doubt she would have made it through the international adoption process (which is not as sloppy as people seem to think) if she was strung out or coked up.

Alexa, I completely agree with you. A very large portion of the population has used illegal or misused legal drugs at some point of their lives. Once that phase is over, why is there a need to rub it in their faces constantly.
Why would this be shocking, everyone knew Angelina was not all up there in the head in her early twenties, even she went out of her way to tell the world about it herself.
Her past wouldn’t bother me, it’s who she is now that matters. If that was a problem for Brad he would’ve never hooked up with her in the first place. It’s not like her reputation wasn’t well known.
Oh and she looks absolutely breathtaking in the interview, though I’ll admit she sounds annoying and I had to stop listening. I’d say she’s on something, just by the cringe-worthy way she’s talking and over-sharing in some parts 😉 It’s still not shocking. Joaquim Pheonix’s interview with Letterman… now that was gossip worthy even if it was an “act”.

I have to disagree with you about the plastic surgery.Have seen her modeling pictures from when she was 16.These pictures have been ALL over the web.Her face looks the same.If anything I think she could be high in the above picture in the white dress.Which would explain the dark circles under her eyes.Either way this story is OLD news.Getting sick of the craploids repeating it.

There is no way this woman has had plastic surgery. PLEASE. She looks the SAME. I’m not an expert but I went to art school and took 4 different portraiture classes for my Illustation major. I’m pretty good at observing and interpreting dimensions/features of a face. She looks the SAME. SAME nose. SAME lips. Is it that difficult for people to accept that this woman has always been beautiful?

What baffles me about this story with her is that these people just won’t let AJ move on from her past. Lord I couldn’t imagine being judged today for what I did in my 20’s. But yes, she has had her nose tweeked. It does look different, but who cares really. She was beautiful before and still beautiful now. (albeit too thin now)

Old news. The old Angelina was so open–the new Angelina is the exact opposite. It isn’t drug use that we’re witnessing. She is Lisa, the character she played in Girl, Interrupted.
While what she did in the past really doesn’t matter, I find it worrying that people are so forgiving of any current drug use by young people.
No, not everyone goes through a “phase” of hard drug use. Most people, in my personal experience, do not. A lot of people in Hollywood do because of very special circumstances and pressure and the fact that it’s EVERYWHERE.
But I’m 24 and no one I’ve known from school or from life outside of film and television have experimented with anything more than weed.
I understand that you Angelina apologists want to gloss over every little bad thing she’s done but please don’t make it seem like the recreational use heroine or cocaine or whatever it was she was on is a totally normal thing. It’s not.
Getting wasted and waking up in your own puke before learning what your drinking limit is-that’s fairly normal. Heroine? Cocaine? I doubt most Americans have been in the same room with the stuff.
@TheHamm-Cocaine is much much more common than you think. Oxycontin, an opiate with the addictive properties of heroin is also very very common among today’s youth as well as other prescription drugs. Personally, I think experimentation with drugs is not abnormal for people in their twenties. I know my friends and I had our fun. At 31, I don’t regret the past, although I wouldn’t touch any of that crap today. I’m a fully functioning adult with a successful career, my own place and a good life. Every one of my friends that “indulged” is successful, married, with kids etc.
For all their experimenting, none of them ended up jobless, homeless, in the hospital or dead.

Define “most”. I think you’ll find that crack and meth are far more prevalent than you realize.
There is a qualitative difference in “forgiving” current use of hard drugs, and saying that past drug use by someone who has since cleaned up their act isn’t relevant to their character today.

I don’t feel forgiving for people using drugs -I never did it- I think it’s awful and very dangereous, and being young it’s not a justification for being an addict; and yes every experience, even the darkest one, builds a person.
Angelina was able to remove drugs from her life, and this is positive and it’s an attitude people can look at.
I also think that the point is: Life and Style reports her past drug abuse like something never heard before; they put her old photos on the cover and shout out loud “Angie scaring past!!” like nobody knows it.

You do know, that just because you use drugs, or ‘experiment’ with them does not mean you are an addict or will become one. Just clarifying.
And yes, the tabloids are incredibly tiresome and annoying even just to have to see them out of the corner of my eye during checkout at the grocery store (I refuse to look at them head-on). I can’t even imagine how it feels to be a target of them.
@Crash2GO2: yes you’re right that’s a big difference, I wasn’t referring to people who do experiments in life, it can be something that can happen,personally I don’t like too much this idea, but I can understand.
Whether she was doing drugs (like every other young Hollywood actor) back then or just having a bad interview, I don’t understand why people feel the need to dig up a persons past instead of celebrating who that person has grown into. Today, she is a Goodwill embassador, mother to numerous children, and setting a great example in the world. Yes, people, I know it’s hard to believe, but she is a human being and she is flawed like everyone else. I don’t know how or why people take comfort in things like that. Good for her for conquering demons and becoming an awesome person in the face of so much ugliness.
She’s explained this period of her life, too. She was lost, she experimented with a LOT of things (including substances), and she had so much difficulty separating herself from her film roles (which she called her “therapy”) that she checked herself into a hospital to get her emotions under control. She couldn’t handle her early fame, and none of these videos or interviews mean anything except that she’s grown into herself before the eyes of the entire world.
Gosh… I know most of you are in agreement with me, but I also know that plenty of people will take this as “shocking” and proof of some inevitable downfall. Her image is what it is now precisely BECAUSE of her past.

It’s laughable that this site and the haters find this story scandalous. She did drugs 10 years ago not 10 days. She’s been very open about her drug past. I don’t know why people are acting like this is new info. Besides didn’t Star or In Touch do this story in between the “Brad Storms Out” and “Brad Runs Back To Jennifer” stories the last few months?
What I find interesting is that the same people who say “get over it” “she was kid”, blah blah blah… (which I agree with by the way) are the same ones who bash Lindsay Lohan…who is doing the same crap basically and who is what 1yr older than AJ in this video? As for adoption
I have adopted 4 drug addicted babies born in the US. All were born addicted, but 3 were not taken away from their mamas at birth. Having drugs in your system or your babys’ system is not enough to have the child removed, there must be an additional problem with the parenting. If the mother of a drug addicted baby agrees to counseling, testing etc. she can go home with her child. Unfortunately, these children often end up in foster care because their mamas can’t beat their addiction and properly parent.
My family chose not to adopt internationally for one reason, cost; we could not afford the fees. Adopting our kids through the state cost next to nothing.
It’s sad all around, I appreciate people who adopt, but more than that, good for people who positively parent kids no matter how that relationship was developed (bio, foster, adopt) .

I’m not a big fan of Angelina (nor a hater, I just don’t care too much about her), but this is ri.di.cu.lous. She admitted to having done drugs YEARS AGO. What’s the story? What?
Yet another reason why I’d love a night out on the town with this great American and all round wonderful human being. I’m serious.
Kait: Angelina fulfilled what she needed to on the American side but re her adoption of Maddox, in fact she dealt with an agency where it *was* about greasing palms with money — in fact it was due to her adoption of Maddox and the revealing of the shady agency she used, (she was told Maddox’s mom was dead – she was not) that they closed international adoption in Cambodia. The agency she used was very corrupt and the head is now imprisoned. I’m not saying she intentionally used a shady agency but at the same time, her money did cause her to become a parent to Maddox in extremely fast time, according to every report that came out at the time. So while you may not “grease palms with money” to adopt in the US, you certainly often can and do in foreign countries. Not if you are adopting within your own country but if you are adopting internationally.
I think *I* might be high because I don’t see what people are talking about here. She doesn’t look stoned, cracked out or high to me. She looks really nervous and stumbles in her words but I don’t see it.
I loved when she talked about her mom who used to say ‘let me see your soul’ when she cried as a child. They had an incredible bond.
I wonder what the response would be to Jennifer Aniston, or hell, Jennifer Garner or whoever, if it were revealed she were a heroin addict ten years ago.
I am no more a fan of one over the other, I just really don’t understand why people are so forgiving of this woman, to a degree that no other woman in Hollywood enjoys. She broke up a marriage (yes, she did) and was rather easily forgiven considering how we treat most hollywood women who do the same thing … she used heroin and cocaine in her twenties mere years before adopting…. And those are just the ‘big’ oopsies. And yes, that is her past and that is fine, but why not the scrutiny and burning that any other actress would receive? I don’t get it. I mean here we have people literally making it out like heroin use in your twenties is totally a-okay and common. wtf. Is it because she is so beautiful? Is it true that we as a society invest so much importance in beauty that they are treated entirely differently and held to entirely different standards? I think it has something, at least, to do with it. And I think that it’s sad.
@ Angel we live in a country (at least I do),where our last two presidents have admitted cocaine use why hold her to a higher standard than presidents? @lena, the difference between Lindsay and Angelina is that Angelina never hijacked a car with 3 passengers and went on a high-speed chase, in fact never had any run-ins with the law that I ever heard of, never fell stumbling out of a bar… in short, she never endangered the general public.
Also, for all the people who have said it’s “not possible” to stop doing drugs after a youthful experimental phase, that’s BS. I went to a liberal-arts college (that was satirized in film) where drug use was rampant, particularly LSD; even a little dabbling in coke and heroin. Every single one of those people is a doctor, lawyer, non-profit director, etc., and not one has done drugs besides a glass of chardonnay in 15 years. It’s all lifestyle.
There are certainly people who start and can’t stop, but it’s ridiculous to generalize about every single person (which is probably a significant percentage of the population) who did drugs in their late teens/early 20s.
Yeah, k. You all go tell twenty year olds it’s totes normal and okay to dabble in heroin at their age. After all, Angie did it and she’s fine!

I am really floored how nonchalantly heroin use is being discussed here; it’s kind of scary and reminiscent of the early nineties craze that took way too many of my friends at that time. Annnnyway.
I am not saying she should be crucified for this. I am glad she isn’t, actually, as worrisome as the attitude toward heroin use in your twenties is to me. Just, that I don’t understand why people suddenly become so forgiving with her in particular. I kind of wish they’d be more so that way with others at times, and am left wondering why it is that they aren’t unless it’s Ms. Jolie. My only conclusion is because she is in fact exceptionally beautiful. She is also very kind and generous but I have also thought at times she gets far more ‘applause’ for being aware and charitable than other actresses as well. There are tons of celebrities who are very involved in charities and goodwill in general, but she seems to be the only one who gets massive attention for it.
Not saying that it’s OK by any means, just that doing a bump of cocaine or a snort of heroin at age 20 does not mean that they are condemned to be an addict at age 35!!! It simply does not follow, and my experience contradicts that. I did cocaine occasionally (talking about one line) for years, it never escalated, then I lost interest due to lifestyle.
And there’s no evidence that she’s a junkie now- that’s absolutely absurd.

@Angel actually she is the one actress who gets persecuted for doing what many others have done more blatantly like for instance Julia Roberts, Laura Dern the list goes on for ages and even Jennifer Aniston has said in interviews that she believed there was not any cheating while they were married. But even if there was cheating does that mean she should be vilified into infinity? Personally the reason why I “forgive” her for her drug use is because she has been open and honest about it and all the other difficulties she had when she was young. And also has made very public changes and has done real humanitarian work across the globe for a decade. Herion is horrible I agree (so is coke) and its a shame that she was involved but I really do believe that she has changed her life and is devoted to her family.

@Angel: Using heroin does not automatically make one an addict. I would say that there is little evidence that AJ was ever a heroin addict. You do know that heroin is a medicinal drug here in the USA to treat extreme pain? It is easy to point in horror at these drugs and call them evil, but in fact they are simply drugs. Sometimes useful, sometimes abused. But not always abused.
Crash, are you implying that Angelina used Heroin for medical purposes and was not abusing it? Because if not, I do not see your point.
Oh boy, I don’t think she should be vilified either, but lessening the importance/severity of even ‘recreational’ heroin use (eyeroll) to justify her having used it is a bit extreme, and unnecessary, and it IS happening here, despite the fact that someone will inevitably talk them selves in circles arguing why it is not. Heroin is never okay to abuse, not even once, and if you do so it is a huge mistake that could potentially ruin your life. Angelina is lucky as hell she is not an addict, perhaps was wealthy and strong enough to resist the addiction until it finally took her, but many many aren’t and will not be. The attitude that many use it in their twenties so it’s understandable is disturbing. Because that is a PROBLEM, not the norm.
This really is not that difficult a concept to comprehend.

Let’s see, we know of her drug use because she told us. She has no arrest record, and she has no stint in rehab. YET according to some she is the rampant drug user. She has never had a job taken from her because of any negative behavior on set. She is sought after and can name her price for any film she is interested in. As for her pupils, they are NORMAL size, certainly not huge. People don’t normally have PINPRICKS for pupils! Pupils contract and shrink according to lighting. Inside a building, people’s pupils are normally half the size of the space. Outside, your pupils constrict to dots. Next time you are with someone inside a building (even your home) that isn’t fully lighted, look into the person’s eyes. You will see their pupils are HUGE, it is the retina’s response to restricted or even bright, light. Then look at someone in the bright sunlight who isn’t wearing glasses. You will note their pupils are tiny dots.
Its called NATURAL eye adjustment, and that is exactly what Angelina’s eyes are doing. Responding to the light. And even at that, her pupils are normal size. Funny how some people don’t seem to understand basic science and human anatomy….
