Okay, I’ve started writing this before I know what’s happening with Lindsay Lohan in court today. There are no cameras allowed inside the court room, unfortunately. Lindsay arrived with her mom and her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, 25 minutes before the 8:30 a.m. PST hearing. I’ve seen the photos from her arrival… and I can safely say that Lindsay exited the Betty Ford Clinic, and her mother must have had a syringe full of collagen waiting in the car, because Lindsay’s lips are back to being extremely cracked-out. It’s ridiculous. Okay, I’ll put my immediate reactions as the news (whatever it may be) comes in:
Oh, while we’re waiting, Michael Lohan claims that someone stabbed him or something.
OKAY! Lindsay is going back to rehab until January 3! She isn’t going to jail, and the judge is impressed with her progress in rehab, and thought she needed more. This is all according to TMZ – Lindsay will probably end up spending 3 months in rehab. She’s also going to have her SCRAM off, but she will still have to submit to drug and alcohol testing until January. Apparently Lindsay cried a little and thanked the judge, and the judge said he was sending her back to rehab because he didn’t want a train wreck in his court. I can’t believe Lindsay got special treatment again. It makes me sick. The DA wanted her to get 180 days in jail – and that’s what Lindsay should have gotten. You can tell from her smug face that she’s not taking any of this seriously. I’ll update with more when it comes in!
UPDATE: Radar has more details here – the judge wants her in rehab beyond the holidays, because he fears that she would relapse on Christmas or New Year’s. Also, everyone who was in court says that Lindsay still looks like hell.
UPDATE: At 9:52 PST Lindsay left the courthouse without her lawyer and without Dina – she was flanked by people from Betty Ford, and the belief is that she’s going straight back into rehab.
UPDATE: A source tells TMZ that Dina Lohan is “beyond excited” that Lindsay didn’t get jail time because “everyone thought she would be sentenced to jail for 30 days.”

Of course she didn’t go to jail, though I’m still disappointed. So why is it tha T.I. Goes to jail for violating probation? Lil Wayne gets solitary confinement for not following the rules in jail, Lil Kim got a year in prison for perjury. Oh yeah…they’re black. Justice isn’t blind: it sees in white and not-white. Whites are always salvageable and need rescuing like poor lindsay lohan boohoo, she’s never gonna change because she’s a spoiled brat from getting away with EVERYTHING. When it comes to blacks (or brown, whatever) the idea is lock em up and throw away the key because they’re garbage. I bet Blohan will get probation and told she’s a naughty girl when she finally kills someone with her expensive car while she’s doped up and speeding.
That is friggen some bullshit. How can this possibly be considered as fair??? Her house must be filled with shit, because so far, this child has had some major luck. I think in order for her to fully understand the severity of her actions, she should have been sent directly to jail for the full 30 days of her sentence.

UGH!!! Thanks for doing HGF first, because my entire day is ruined now. I cannot believe it, but this literally makes me sick. No justice. Anyone I know that’s violated probation has gone to jail. Huh. Guess that’s because they aren’t famous. This sucks.
while i truly wanted lindsay lohan to understand that her behavior is unacceptable and NORMAL people have to do time for their criminal activity, i’m actually glad she got more rehab. if anything, lindsay runs away from her problems, can’t be held accountable and blames everyone but herself. i think in rehab they’ll make her confront her issues (MOM AND DAD), make her understand the word ACCOUNTABILITY and hopefully give her a way to deal with her future issues (you know she’ll probably have them).
if she went back to jail i think we’d have another ‘i’m a victim, i’m not a criminal’ diatribe that we’re all too familiar with. hopefully being confronted with her issues in rehab will give her the tools to comeback as an actress (unless we’ve been romanticizing her talent this whole time… *cough*).
i still think she’s an insufferable, pretentious twat, but maybe she’ll take this opportunity and run with it. i mean, betty ford counselors were the ones suggesting she dump her mom as manager. BEST IDEA EVER.

The bad news is that she got more celebrity treatment cuz any other citizen would have gone to jail. The good news is she does not have to spend Thanksgiving with her family.
Actually, it might be better that she was ordered into rehab beyond the holidays because the Judge knew she wouldn’t actually serve the whole sentence if she went to jail.
Kind of bummed that we might not hear any cracked-out Christmas news from Lindsay, though.
I don’t think there is any way for her to get to a drug/booze free lifestyle. She’ll be back in court sometime in February and sentenced to jail. At least for now, the tax payers are not footing the bill.

@wonderwoman21 – I understand where you are coming from but in this instance Lohan is only dealing with State misdemeanor charges or something like that (I don’t really know but I know it isn’t federal felony charges) and T.I. was up on Federal charges and the Feds don’t mess around like those local people do. I think T.I. is so hot and wish he would have married me so I am not saying he deserves to be in prison but sentencing guidelines for federal charges, esp. weapons and drugs is much more stringent than some local charge in LA.
And can I say that outfit is the best she has worn in her 45 years on earth.

of course she didn’t go to jail. now she’ll go to rehab but they will let her out for the holidays, she’ll fail a drug test, get fitted with a SCRAM, inflate her lips and drive like a maniac all over LA, go back to court and cry for the judge, get sentenced to 90 days in jail, serve 10 days, go back to rehab…wash, rinse, repeat.

I know people think she is getting off easy but if she violates before the February 25th court hearing where her probation will be terminated she will get 180 days in jail so this really is her FINAL CHANCE.
I hate to say this but I think most people would get this kind of treatment. You read all the time about repeated drunk drivers getting no jail time or really short sentences, etc. And the judge did the right thing in rehabilitating her rather than sending her to jail.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of hers and love watching the trainwreck that was her career but I don’t think it’s preferential treatment, it’s kind of the norm.
To WonderWoman2 and Eileen . . . c’mon, really? Racially motivated? That’s a stretch. There is a huge difference in sentencing for state vs. federal charges, misdemeanor vs. felony offenses. Celebrities of every race get preferential treatment, haven’t you noticed?

Wonderwoman I understand what you are saying but TI was on probation for a FEDERAL Offense not a state misdemeanor, and Lil Kim perjured herself-again Federal Offense. It has nothing to do with their race, only the offenses on which they were charged with.
I’m happy she’s in rehab, I’m not paying for her 5 hour stay in jail now, and Betty Ford wants to keep her and is trying to convince her to fire Dina-how is any of that a bad thing? sounds like the best advice she’s ever gotten.
@TG Yeah I understand tha TI’s charges were technically more serious, but I honestly believe Lohan is a bigger threat to the public at large with her reckless and intoxicated driving than TI is with weapons on him, though if I recall correctly he may have been intoxicated as well. And he did deserve to go back to jail for violating rules that were very well defined, but so did Lohan. She absolutely deserves a jail sentence, if me, as my non-famous self, were to be caught driving about like a maniac under the use of substances, both illegal and controlled, hitting into things, chasing people, missing out on court appearances, violating probation I’d be in jail faster than you can say who’s your uncle lol. And I know you didn’t say this yourself, but the general consensus is that she has horrible parents and that’s why she’s so messed up is a crock, she’s 24 years old….grow up! Good point Wonderwoman, but look at it this way. LiLo is now getting serious help and has no hope of getting out early. If she went to jail MY tax dollars would keep her in there and she’d be out early, because the probation on this isn’t from the car jacking. This way she’s stuck, getting treatment AND has to foot the bill herself. All around good news to me.

In terms of getting her to clean up her act and wake up to her situation, Betty Ford is probably way better than jail. Plus I agree that at least this way she’s not living on the tax payers’ dime. But it does get tiring to see her repeatedly threatened with jail and getting out early or not going at all, over and over.
I’ll be surprised if 3 months in rehab is enough for her though, and won’t be surprised if she flunks another drug test soon after she’s out.

I’m in the minority that thinks that drugs aren’t her problem, but rather they serve as a distraction for her maladaptive cognitions. I don’t like her and I abhor her entitled attitude, but it’s clear the girl’s been royally fucked over by her criminally selfish parents. And with her current narcissistic streak, jailtime will only help to reinforce the, “I’m a victim!!” schema she’s got going on.
At least without the drugs (and the leeches that come with the drug scene) she can use this period of sobriety for self-reflection.

@wonderwoman21 – I agree with you. I would have been locked up so quick too. I don’t understand how she got off on those kidnapping charges and driving erratically chasing someone. That seems very serious to me. I love T.I. but he needs to get away from those bad people and his wife is the first person he needs to ditch. She shouldn’t be doing drugs in the car with him if she cared about him.
And I believe LiLo belongs in jail she has been to rehab 5 times already and it didn’t work throw her in the slammer for a few years, treat her like the regular criminal that she is and that might work.

And I agree with whoever said they’d rather have her paying her own bill at rehab than the taxpayers foot her bill in jail. That makes sense. On the other hand, it’s likely that all the rehab in the world isn’t going to change her.

Plenty of people who are arrested for drug crimes go to rehab instead of jail. And really, that’s for the best. While some jails do offer rehab programs, a lot don’t. Our jails are overcrowded because of oversentencing for drug crimes – all people, celebs or not – would do better to be in a rehab facility under close supervision.
I can’t believe that rehab professionals are giving her a break. They treat too many celebs. We didn’t see the report, the judge did. The judge thought she was making good progress and that’s enough for me.
I’d like to see her turn herself around and only treatment can bring her to the place where she is strong enough to dump her leech parents.
The moral of this story is that if you are a celebrity in LA and have money, you are pretty much in the clear.

Why is everyone bitching about the fact that she’s not going back to jail? Would you rather have YOUR tax-payer dollars fund the jail time of a non-violent offender?? Rehab is coming out of her pocket and forcing her to be accountable and financially responsible. If she were to be sentenced jail time, it would only guarantee that she would continue cycling through the dysfunctional and counterproductive legal system.

Kind of sad that all these people would want this person with a disease to sit in jail rather than get treatment. The REALLY sad part is that if the judge had given her 6 months in jail she’d have only served maybe 3-4 weeks. Instead, she’s getting treatment (that she’s paying for) for another two months.
But most of you can’t comprehend that.
Well their getting the judge changed worked, didn’t it? The CA legal system for celebrities is a joke.
Now without the SCRAM, she’ll be able to drink and drug, and although the judge is stupid enough to think that Linds won’t be doing any of that over the holidays, you know she will be.
She gets out of rehab in January. My guess is that she’ll be back in some kind of legal trouble by April. Disgusting. If this were an “average” person, they’d have been locked up well before now, and absolutely would be doing the 180 days in jail.
As for the rehab, just how many people who have gone to Betty Ford are still sober? Unless I’m confused, there are plenty that aren’t. She’s smart enough, and has been in enough rehabs, to know what the counselors/doctors/whatever want to hear. At least a real stint in jail might’ve knocked some sense into her. “Treat her like she’s a special flower that always gets her way” rehab won’t do a thing for her.
I think she is purposely disfiguring herself because of some deep-rooted hatred for herself. There can’t be any other reason why she would make her self look so grotesque.
After Heath Ledger passed away I’m all for Lindsay getting cleaned up. Drugs are so addictive and ruins families. I could see many being angry and sick if she butchered two people and walked free but come on.
Tragic. She was a pretty and talented girl but she’s been on a terrible downward spiral for so long now that I truly believe she’ll be dead by the time she’s 27.
