A guest at Lil Kim’s birthday party Sunday night at a club near Times Square was found dead three days later in a utility closet on the roof of the building. Police believe she was beaten to death with a blunt object and then left there by someone with knowledge of the layout of the place.
The body of a 24-year-old woman who attended a birthday party for the rapper Lil’ Kim on Sunday was found Wednesday on the roof of the Midtown karaoke club where the party was held, the police said.
The woman, identified by the police as Ingrid Rivera of Queens, was discovered shortly before 5 p.m. in a utility closet on the roof of Spotlight Live, a live-music venue, nightclub and karaoke bar at 1604 Broadway near 49th Street. An investigator said they believed the woman had left the party and was beaten with a blunt object — possibly a Champagne bottle — and left for dead.
The police said that she was last seen on Sunday night and was reported missing on Tuesday.
The investigator said the party for Lil’ Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was attended by many musicians, actors and other entertainers.
Update: I mentioned in an earlier version of this story that the victim has the same name and is the same age as the current Miss Puerto Rico Universe who accused another contestant of pepper spraying her gown. It’s not the same woman, though. The NY Daily News identifies her as “a ticket agent for British Airways at Kennedy Airport.” Rivera was last seen being kicked out of the club by bouncers there. [thanks Elisha]
Watch for this on Law & Order. Or whichever one it is that touts “ripped from the headlines”. So scandalous. I like Lil Kim.
**Edit… I just read you already mentioned L&O. My bad. It’s sad no matter who died, whether it was the pageant girl or not.
It wasn’t the pageant girl. The picture of the deceased Ingrid is here:

A club employee is being questioned in the death, but police say they’re not a suspect:

C’mon, everybody has someone in their entourage who checks the place for bodies at the end of the night. Someone’s getting fired.
How devastating.
While it may seem like celebrities and those they party with are far away, intangible individuals, I implore those commenting to consider that there is a family mourning over the untimely and heinous death of their young relative before making any jokes.
Yeah not exactly a beauty queen. Bunch of scum bags, Lil Kim and all these hangers on.
@ri23 LOL! so… I hope you were joking.
Cassie is right. Have some respect.
How awful! I wonder what really happened
Alexis: Yeah, but I think Lil Kim needs to hire someone. She seems to leave a trail of trouble wherever she goes.
looks like lil kim hasn’t learned her lesson……send her back to jail…i’m sure her terms and condition states that she may not be in the presence of criminals and felons, and judging by the company she keeps, it’s time for her to go back to jail ….this bitch needs to learn a lesson and abide by the terms and conditions of her probation.
Lil Kim is a total scumbag and should rot in prison.
I doubt Lil Kim had any involvement. I do, however, think there are bouncers who might be a little too over the top. If the poor girl was indeed drunk and caught in the men’s restroom (per the link a commenter left above) that is nothing that outrageous. People drink at clubs, some over do it and make mistakes. Maybe she mouthed off at the bouncer(s) when she was ejected from the club. Even so that warrants no violence. She was a 24 yr old woman what threat did she pose, really.
What concerns me is that some of the more VIP club places seem to really love employing the uber asshole/tough guy bouncer types. Like that gives the place extra cache or something. Anyone remember a year or so ago when a drunken patron (young grad student) was abducted , raped and murdered? On St. Mark’s (NYC) I believe. Bouncer was the one who roughed her up. I’m not pointing fingers yet but from that article it seems the regulars at the club already knew the doormen were violent.
Worst part is the mother was interviewed- that was her only child. Losing any child is unthinkable but your only child? I could not imagine. I hope they catch the person(s) who did this.
It’s kind of sick and disturbing to see the comments (TV9time and Grettm and BlackDahlia)here talking about “L’il Kim is a bitch who should rot in jail.” What?? That’s just wrong. How the hell is she supposed to know the exact comings and goings of every single person who attended her party or was just in the club where it was held? Just because it was L’il Kim’s party, now suddenly she’s responsible for this woman’s awful murder? Jesus, that is harsh. And illogical. Smacks of misogynistic racism, too.
On a totally different note, how horrible must that have been for the maintenance guy who went to switch off a fuse or something and found her body? While it certainly doesn’t compare to what her family and friends are dealing with , I think I would be seriously disturbed for a long, long time after an event like that.
Respect? Why- because it makes you feel better and extends the illusion of moral superiority, but accomplishes nothing otherwise. Humor, even inappropriate humor helps people deal with senseless and often death. You should hear the jokes that get passed around your typical city morgue when a body is brought in.
@Snowblood, where there’s smoke…. I’m not saying Kim’s directly responsible, but she will have to answer a lot of questions.
🙁 This is a real sad case. This girl was lured back to the club by a predator who is now in police custody. She went up to the roof and he hit her over the head and did God knows what to her dead body. This begs the example to young women in the city to please go out in groups. There was a similar case a few years back that a girl was tragically killed by a bouncer after having too much to drink.
thats what you get for messing with Lil Kim!
I noticed that this is not the first time you write about this topic. Why have you chosen it again?
