Natalie Portman promoted Black Swan at the Palm Springs International Film Festival this weekend – these are photos from the photo call on Saturday. I think Natalie got the memo about her bitchface, because she was really exerting the effort to smile for the cameras. Natalie, we understood about the bitchface retroactively, because of your pregnancy. We get that you were uncomfortable. And many of us even liked your bitchface!
Anyway, Natalie showed off her bump in this absolutely hideous maternity dress. I get that she’s probably trying to look a bit matronly and mature, just to be classy and not have it “all hanging out” while pregnant, but still. There is no reason for such a pretty girl to wear this budget-looking disaster. If the white piping on the hem and the white gauze with the black bodice weren’t tacky enough, the designer went and added GOLD accents on the collar and cuffs. Absolutely and unconditionally tragic.
At the festival, Natalie took home the “Achievement Actress” award and she also presented Javier Bardem with the “International Star Award”. When asked about impending motherhood, Natalie said: “I have no idea what it is going to be like so I’ll feel it out.”

As for Nathalie, she has enough beauty and is pregnant, so she’s cute no matter what. Pregnant women are excused of any wrong choice in the dressung department.

Tragic. There are lots of great maternity dresses out there now, there is no excuse for that hideous garment. I get that she’s at the awkward stage where she doesn’t look all that pregnant and mostly just thick at the waist. Wear an empire waist, that’s what they’re made for!

Just not a fan of this woman. Why does she have a rep of being such an “amazing actress?” She’s okay. I haven’t seen all her work, but enough to say meh to the whole thing. She did look good bald in “V for Vhatever.”
I know she’s on a big oscar hunt – push push push. Funny if she doesn’t even get a nomination. Funny mean but still funny.
I guess my biggest complaint is that she seems to take her self way over the top serious.

I actually met her at an NY eatery and she was sooo nice and she sent over a bottle of wine, nice lady she seems shy..after her meal she came over and said she enjoyed meeting me and touched my shoulder and left w/her mom.

Her eyes are GORGEOUS. And her natural eye color, they just look brighter depending on the angle of the flash bulb. I know a few people who have that vibrant, almost-orange brown.
That dress sucks, though. A lot.
I hate the lashes more than I do the dress. The overall effect is to make Natalie look like a clown.
I wonder if her support for Roman Polanski (child molester) has wavered now that she will have a little one to protect from monsters now.

She has gorgeous whiskey-colored eyes. This dress would be a good option for “Unfug It Up” on GFY. I think it would have been cute if you had just taken all of the crap off of the top. A simple, strapless black dress, maybe added an empire waist… The hemline in and of itself isn’t bad and could add interest to an otherwise simple dress, but combined with the crap up top it just doesn’t work.
But, even with saying all of that, she is pregnant and allowed to wear whatever the hell she wants.
Blech, what an ugly outfit! Can someone explain to me when the beige and black combo I keep seeing everywhere became popular? Those colors are TERRIBLE together. If she had stuck to either black and gold OR pink and beige, I’d let the matronly look of this outfit go. But all those colors together, plus the shiny cuffs and collar….fail, Natalie. This looks like something thrown together at the last minute on Project Runway. She also looks like she should be at home, off her feet and close to the bathroom.
Im hoping she wears some more cuter clothes as the Golden Globes and eventually the Oscars make their way. I mean, her little bump is cute. She should show it off.

I just saw Black Swan; it was exceptional. Loved it.
As for the dress: I’m afraid she could have done better at Target.
It is SO hard to find decent maternity clothes. You’d think someone like her would have legitimate designers beating each other to get their hands on her, though. I think it would be decently cute (as far as maternity stuff tends to go) if it didn’t have all that gold nasty.

I think it’s probably because she’s not sure how to dress her changing body appropriately. I’ve never been pregnant, but I’ve seen how quickly & strangely it changes.
She probably has no idea what works, what’s flattering, and what’s ‘fitting’ for a classy pregnant woman to wear. She had enough trouble with fashion choices *before* she was pregnant. xD

I don’t know if she’s wearing contacts; grey makes your eyes do funny things under hot lighting. I have green eyes that make me look like I fell out of a mothership when I wear grey liner and I think the same thing’s happening here.

@AngelMay I have the same color eyes as Natalie. It’s probably not contacts. They’re brown with flecks of gold and green, which only really come out when you shine light right into them. So in some light they look normal brown, and in some they look “orangey” because light is shining right in. I think hers (and, ahem, mine) are pretty. Anne Hathaway’s do the same thing, too.

I think this is one of the prettiest hair and makeup looks I’ve seen her rock. Her eyes are lovely. You know what it is? She has a very gummy smile, and I think she photographs better from the front than from the side with her gums showing. Also, did she have a nose job at some point? Her weird side-nostril contributes to her odd photos when she’s smiling, too.
I actually love the dress – -very high fashion and the style not often done. Think it’s great
I like it. Its not really maternity. Yes a looser style but its not full on maternity wear. She is to newly pregnant to need maternity clothes yet.
I appreciate she isnt wearing 6 inch heels while preggers but those shoes look cheap and im sure they arent.
