This completely random report comes from The Sun, and even though they’re directly attributing these quotes to Johnny Depp, I have very really doubts that Johnny said anything like this. Okay, apparently Johnny was put in charge of the Jolie-Pitt’s bulldog for one night. Their bulldog is named Jacques. There’s a photo of him as a puppy in Angelina’s 2008 W Magazine spread, but I’m having a hell of a time finding that one photo. Thankfully, we have some adorable photos of Jacques with Shiloh from a few months ago:
Anyway, Jacques is apparently some kind of holy terror? And when Johnny tried to puppy-sit him, Jacques attacked Johnny, but not really. He’s just a little bulldog for goodness sake!
WHEN BRAD PITT and ANGELINA JOLIE need someone to look after their dog, who do they call? JOHNNY DEPP. I’d love to have seen Brad thumbing through his contacts when the eureka moment came.
The actor kindly offered to dogsit stinky pet pooch Jacques so his pals could go for a romantic dinner during filming of Johnny and Ange’s latest movie The Tourist. But as soon as they were alone, the 12½st beast attacked. And that dogsitting arrangement might now be a thing of the past.
Johnny revealed: “Foolishly I was persuaded to look after Jacques for a night. He’s a huge bulldog. At first I had a terrible feeling, because Jacques smelt horrible. But then I told myself, ‘Come on, you will survive one night’. Everything was cool – until I sat down on the bed to take my shoes off. Jacques pounced on me from behind and kept jumping around on me. He’s not small. Around 175lbs of dog was hurled at me, which felt like about 300lbs. I shouted for help and luckily someone came to take that beast off me.”
Luckily for Johnny, he only did hound duty once.
He said: “We often went for dinner with them. It was great. I’ve known Brad since the end of the Eighties. It was great to see him as a man and amazing father.”
And on odd occasions the adults left the kids and Jacques indoors while Johnny, stunning wife VANESSA PARADIS and Brad and Ange hit the town together.
Most blokes would give their right arm to be in that company but Johnny wasn’t too chuffed.
He added: “Angie is a stunner, so is Vanessa. And Brad of course. When we all sat together I was the only ugly one. I’m not the spick-and-span kind of guy. To be honest, I don’t like cutting my hair or trimming my beard.”

He’s not 175 pounds of dog! Okay, maybe 150 pounds. In these photos, he looks like a typical chubby bulldog. I bet he’s a sweetheart. And I bet he was just trying to be friends with Johnny, who must smell like a dog too.

Actually Johnny Depp told this story on Letterman he thought it was hilarious.He said Angie and Brad dared him to spend a night alone with the dog. They are just putting an evil tab spin on it.

Poor Johnny. I am sure the bulldog is a sweetheart with his family, but the breed isn’t like a superfriendly lab and doesn’t take up to all new people they meet. Also though laid back they can be mean little beasts. So the incident could just have happened. Though Johnny might be adding to to the fact that Jacues bared his teeth and snarled at him.

LOL Well if Johnny told the story on Letterman then I guess I can believe it. I didn’t detect anything evil in The Sun story or any hidden agenda or passive aggressive insulting, so I can say this story is cute and I enjoyed it whether Depp said all those things or not. Love Johnny Depp.

what Jammy said is true. Bulldogs can be very sweet dogs, but they can also be very aggressive, territorial, and protective of their “space”. let’s face it, they were bred for fighting so the temperament is no surprise.
and, sadly, EVERY bulldog I’ve ever met has been VERY stinky. usually due to their gas.

I myself isn’t much of a dog person, more of a catperson actually, and a dog in itself isn’t very pleasant actually. JMO. I mean i understand that people like their dogs and everything but not everyone loves it when they come licking on your face! But if it farts too and attack you in the bed? Nah I’ll pass. Just saying.

I am no dog expert, but I am somewhat familiar with several breeds. Isn’t 175 pounds kind of overweight (ok, enormous) for a bulldog? My lab is a big guy and he weighs right around 100 pounds.

Yes okay I get that, but for someone who isn’t used to dogs like Johnny here for example, that could be a bit of a shock when a big dog jumps all over you IMO.
I mean maybe he wasn’t up for cuddling with a smelly dog , no matter how cute it seems to the owners, and he wasn’t prepared,maybe he just wanted a nice and petite cat to snuggle with. 🙂
I watched Letterman that night, which I never do and I laughed my ass off while Johnny was telling that story. He was saying the dog was a beast and was trying to hump him. Which hello!! Who the hell wouldn’t try to hump Johnny.
Oh, puh-leeze…I lived with a Bulldog for 11 years, and he was never territorial or aggressive toward anybody. If he ran toward someone, it was with a great amount of wiggly glee to meet a new person, and he was usually just wanting a pat on the head or to see if they had a snack. I’ve never seen an “aggressive” Bulldog in my life. They’re playful and fun and very sweet dogs to have. (Although I won’t dispute their inherent stinkiness — they do tend to be rather “airy”.)
And Jacques is probably closer to the 75-pound mark than 100. He’s a good looking pup!

just because you’ve never met the latter doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I’ve met pit bulls (a notoriously aggressive breed) that are total cupcakes and wouldn’t hurt a fly. and yet, in news reports, it always seems to be a pit bull that attacks/maims/kills other dogs or small children.
so, while the BREED’S temperament (in general) might be one thing, an individual dog’s temperament might be something else entirely.
Does this mean it would be inappropriate if I tried to hump Johnny Depp’s leg? I guess I could try to refrain but I’m not making any promises..
Also I’m a cat person but I love dogs too. Some dogs are not cool and some are, just like cats and just like people for that matter 🙂
@catperson ~ I don’t think that Johnny said that he isn’t used to dogs. Why would he agree to doggie-sit if he didn’t like them?
And btw, I like kittehs too. I’d have at least 2 if my husband wasn’t allergic to them 🙂

our neighbor has a burly bulldog who is always so excited to get attention and pets that he literally knocks me to my knees! He wriggles all over and licks and is just such a lovey boy! That’s probably the reaction Johnny got from the Jolie bulldog, but being a humorous storyteller everything got exaggerated and became a great and funny story. (only way the story could be better would be if it had been little shiloh who had come to johnny’s rescue, shaking her finger at her doggie and telling him to behave!)

I have a unneutered male bulldog who WILL hump you if you don’t seem more dominant than him. He’s a big wuss most of the time, but knocked my 5 yr old niece down to try and get some. I think that’s prolly what went down with Johnny.

I love bulldogs. They are sometimes smelly and they drool but I have never met a mean one. Just jiggly, friendly, big babies who want to play with you.

I think it’s definitely a specific dog thing but breeds have traits. Everybody who first sees my 3 and a half year old Chow Chow backs up thinking he’s going to be aggressive and the only time he barks/growls is at night if I’m sleeping and he hears anyone around the house. I think the bulldog is cute 🙂

Of course Jolie and Mother Theresa are not the same. they are/were both great women dedicated to their humanitarian deeds. that’s what they have in common.
BUT i hate when people complain about other poeple who perceive Jolie as a saint (even if those poeple never refer to her this way since she is not) and then justify it by comparing her to what they call themelseves the level of nearly sainthood of Mother Theresa.
She was an extremely great woman who had an international impact and fought for the poor and helped spread catholicism in India. But she also had a controversial side and ennemies which doesn’t make her a saint in my view, one of which consisiting in never opposing a priest or the pope and his views towards subjects like aids even if those priests were caught molesting or beating a child.
She was a woman who will automatically sided the peaodophilic priest against his young victims and because of this view had some controversies going on.
She is still in my view one of the greatest women ever who lived in our times and dedicated herself to a great cause but not more a nearly saint than people make her out to be.
If those pictures posted are of that dog as an adult there is no way in hell he’s 150 – 175 pounds. I’d say 65 to 80 pounds and I’m being generous, even with all his muscle.
@December to be fair, you shouldn’t be too quick to believe all things especially when it comes out of thin air.
Tabloids fabricate stories all day long, sometimes they get it right, but most of the times it’s outright bullshit. So it’s better only to judge what you see in interviews and not so much what so and so said.
But that goes for all parties whether you are a fan or not.
I hate when people talk about tabloid gossip as if they are actually fact. So like Love Angelina in this instance if you have a link then I shall believe, if the only source is a tabloid or some nobody heard so and so say this well then you’ll have to try harder to prove it before I’ll believe it.

This is funny. I’m a dog lover, but have learned, mutts make better pets than purebreds. This little anecdote seems to confirm that. My brother had bulldogs, and they also slobber so much….yuck.
I hardly believe most of the negative stories about Angelina, as I said, I do like Angelina. However, the fact that people will easily believe any negative story about say…Jennifer Aniston, shows the hypocrisy of it all.
I’m just trying to prove that Angelina is not this perfect woman that many think she is and that she can never do any wrong. People who believe that have to be an effin moron.
I think she’s a great person and all, and loved the way she turned her life around and saw that there was more to life than being a pampered actress. And I do realize that many of the tabloids try to make her out to be a horrible cold, controlling woman, which is obviously not true.
I’m just saying, it’s tiring to see all these people who put Angelina up on a high pedastel and won’t EVER believe anything bad about her. None of us know her personally, just like Aniston, yet many people will love to put Aniston down, whether the story is true or not, yet absolutely grow livid over a negative story about Jolie. I guess nobody wants to watch the Letterman interview and would rather believe the dog is Cujo. I’m not sure why this is even a story now considering the interview was done a month ago. If this story was about anybody else it would be a funny story but since it’s about Brad and Angelina the dog is a holy terror.
there was nothing about the dog being territorial or vicious, it was the dog humping him that he wasn’t a fan of. I am pretty sure he has dogs,as well as other animals, and as an animal lover, a big dog jumping on my back and humping me isnot something i like. I’m no authority on Mother Teresa, but didn’t she more or less devote her entire life to charity? On the other hand, I remember reading on the Daily Mail’s website that Angelina Jolie spends an hour per week on philanthropic causes. I’m not saying it’s not great that she donates her money, but there is a HUGE difference between spending all your time caring for the sick and the needy versus donating money (no matter how much) and paying short visits to them in their desperately poor and/or war-torn countries. That’s why I find the claim that Mother Teresa and Jolie are ‘both great women dedicated to their humanitarian deeds’ a little disingenuous. Jolie does great things in terms of charity, but the fact is that she spends most of her time on her movie career and her family. She and Mother Teresa are clearly more different than they are similar.
The only time I hear she is being compared to Mother Theresa is by posters saying she is not mother theresa. She’s not a full time humanitarian, most intelligent people are aware of that.

I’ve got nothing to say about Angelina, so my comments may be way late but I work in bulldog rescue and have had six of them of my own. That dog is no more than 65 pounds and that’s on the high end. They are, for the most part, a very, very loving, people-oriented breed and can get very exuberant in their looking for love and treats – if someone is not used to a cinder block on legs running toward them, it can be overwhelming. They don’t tend to smell, if well cared for, and if properly socialized, make wonderful family members. Love the pics!
