These are photos of Colin Firth getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday. Doesn’t he look handsome? He’s such an attractive man… not really “hot” but he’s the kind of guy who seems like “slow and steady wins the race” you know? At the age of 50, he’s doing the best work of his career, and getting a lifetime’s worth of praise and recognition. He will likely win the Best Actor Oscar this year for The King’s Speech, he loves his age-appropriate wife and she loves him back, and there is little drama in his personal junk. Plus, he can wear the hell out of a suit.
You know what else I love? Colin really seems to appreciate where he is. He’s not a flaming narcissist, but he likes the attention, and he appreciates everything that’s going for him. When he got his star, he even got emotional and a little choked up. How cute is that?
Colin Firth was moved to tears as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor, who found fame playing Mr Darcy in the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice, dedicated the honour to his Italian wife.
“I want to thank everybody that has accompanied me on this extraordinary journey, but probably more than anybody I could ever imagine Livia who has walked every step of this with me joyfully and truthfully,” he said.
Before dabbing his eyes, he added: “When I look down there at that star, it’s her name I see.”
Later the 50-year-old was reluctant to admit he had shed a tear. “You can make of it what you will, it was the wind,” he laughed.
His shrine is the 2,429th star, conveniently located in front of the Pig ‘N Whistle pub on Hollywood Boulevard, right next to British actress Emma Thompson’s.
“Actually that’s almost as good as the thing itself,” he said.
During his speech, he joked: “I have a feeling I’m going to be here when I’m about 93 under a pile of blankets asking for spare change and trying to convince anyone that will listen that I’m the guy whose name is on the sidewalk – failing to recognise that the old lady next to me is in fact Emma Thompson.”

awww…that is too sweet. and yes, colin can wear the hell out of a suit…gorgeous! i saw the king’s speech 2 days ago, and i loved it. best of all, i saw it in the UK, where people were able to appreciate some of the humor in it towards the royal family. Tons of applause at the end. I got teary-eyed myself.

I really hope he gets the Oscar.. I haven’t watched The Kings Speech but everything I have read has been very positive. The man is good at what he does and deserves to win. His body of work is incredible and you don’t have to see the movie to know what he is capable of doing. I really hope that he is recognized and would hate to think that someone from TSN wins simply because it is the “popular” choice.

There is something so sexy about a guy who is unabashedly in love with his wife/partner. But it’s a “hands off” kind of sexy, where you just sigh and drool and fantasize from afar. Because the moment he hits on you, the whole “I unabashedly love my wife” thing flies out of the window, and all you’re left with is another sleazebag cheater (albeit a handsome one). So Colin, keep adoring your wife, and I will admire you from afar. 😉

I love him. The only “dirt” (if you can even call it that) is he has a 20 year old son from a relationship pre-wife with Meg Tilly (of all people!) I love him. HIs wife writes an occasional column for Vogue on wearing “green” clothing from different designers to these types of events. She seems lovely and down to earth. When they met she didn’t speak much English-and like his character in Love Actually he took language lessons (Italian irl) to be able to woo her. Okay, I’ll step down from my Colin Firth Stalking Moment now. Carry on.

also, he yelps about loving her but they actually have a marriage that has weathered time, unlike most hot and heavy for 2 years hollywood types.
I love him! He’s the best, hottest Mr Darcy out of all the remakes I’ve seen including Olivier. I was watching the one with Kiera Knightley which isn’t bad at all but I missed him . And please, please, please write a review because I am on the fence on seeing this it looks a bit depressing.

It’s nice to see that his years of work have paid off, and he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves.He was here in Palm Springs last weekend ,for the film festival .He not only stayed for the screening of the movie ,but answerd questions after the film in a Q and A. By all account a very,very, nice man.
