Apparently, there were some reports floating around that Owen Wilson and his baby-mama Jade Duell had named their newborn son Ford Linton Wilson. Those reports are wrong – the baby’s official and legal name is now Robert Ford Wilson. “Robert” is Owen’s father’s name, but no one knows where Ford comes in. Maybe Owen is hoping for some voiceover commercial work for Ford?
Another possibility: Robert Ford was the famous assassin of Jesse James. Perhaps an ode to the wild west? Perhaps Owen is a big Casey Affleck fan… remember that Brad Pitt film, The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford? Casey played Ford, Brad played Jesse James. That’s all I’ve got.
According to the National Enquirer, Owen decided to name the baby Robert Ford on the spur of the moment, deciding on his father’s name “at the last minute.”
Oh, and the baby was born in Hawaii. I expect a flood of wing nuts to descend any moment and demand to see Robert Ford’s birth certificate. Just kidding!

I’ve had Ford in the back of my head as a kid’s name for a long time. Ford Prefect, Arthur Dent’s best friend (who turns out to be an alien) in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

I was thinking the same thing for the middle name it’s probably after John Ford who might be one of owen’s favorite directors and it’s not uncommon to name a child particial after someone you admire nor a Parent grandparent or film Character or place thats special to one of the parents for instance Elizabeth Frances Todd Burton is named in first name after her mother Elizabeth Taylor or Claire Newman is probably named after english actress Claire Bloom who was a dear friend of her parents and her middle name Olivia is probably in memory of Olivia Dahl the oldest daughter of family friend Patricia Neal who had passed away aged 7 from the measeals 29 months before she was born though her parents had originally wished she was a boy because dad had a boy & two girls from a previous marriage and they’d had two girls together after moms miscarriage

Charlie Sheen named his twins Bob and Max. They are two pretty “normal” names and he’s a crappy father.
Nicole Richie’s children are named Harlow and Sparrow and she (by all accounts) is a wonderful mom.
Giving your child a “normal” name doesn’t really mean anything.
Time will tell with Owen.
