Supermodel and expectant mom Rebecca Romijn, who is having twins with her new husband Jerry O’Connell, says she has already picked out at least one name- provided, of course, one of the twins is a girl. Romijn is a huge fan of country legend Dolly Parton, and hopes to give one of the babies the same moniker.

She’s not due to give birth until next year, but Rebecca Romijn has already decided to name one of the twins with hubby Jerry O’Connell after her favorite singer, Dolly Parton.

“I have been a fan of Dolly all my life. She’s a wonderful woman. I really connect with her music. I can’t think of a better role model for my children!” says the mom-to-be, who finally met her idol at the “Backwoods Barbie” show in Tennessee’s Dollywood theme park on August 17. “She has this great, sweet personality but she’s also strong and wise,” gushed Rebecca, 35, who got Dolly’s blessing for her choice of name. “She was honored.”

I actually think Dolly is a really cute name. But I hope she doesn’t get crazy and name the kid Parton if it turns out she’s carrying twin boys. Then again, it’s not any worse than Zuma. I’m actually thinking about naming my baby “Carlin,” after my idol, George Carlin, if it’s a boy. Is that weird?

Note by Celebitchy: Jerry O’Connell recently joked about naming the twins Mary-Kate and Ashley, saying “I’m not kidding. I really thought about that.”

He’ll always be the fat kid from ‘Stand By Me’ no matter how many super-models he impregnates.

  2. Alexis says:

I think Parton would be a great name for a boy. I have a friend named Pollock, I think Parton is along those lines. It sounds like a person’s name and not like a noun (ie Apple, Rainbow, Tu Morrow)

  3. Mairead says:

Since it’s after Ms. Parton it’s great 😀

Out of curiosity MSat, why not call your son George then? Mind you, I can imagine saying “How many times have i told you not to crayon the walls Carlin?” better than Zuma 😆

  4. elisha says:

I think Dolly is cute. At least it’s a real name.

  5. geronimo says:

Not wierd at all, Carlin is very cool! Really like. Keep it on your list, MSat.

And although I worship and adore the ground Dolly P walks on, don’t like either Dolly or Parton for baby names.

  6. daisy424 says:

Agree Geronimo. Wasn’t Dolly the name of that ewe they cloned?

  7. Bodhi says:

I think its cute, but I don’t think I could name a kid Dolly or Parton.

I love Rebecca & Jerry, but I still think they make a weird couple

    Yup, Dolly the sheep!

  8. Kolby says:

They’re having two girls. Maybe they would name one of them after a song written by Dolly? Jolene?

  9. Lalalala says:

I wouldnt like to be named Dolly…

but it is better than Pilot Inspektor (didnt he spell it with a k?) Ka’el, Apple, Zuma, Harlow Winter Kate, Mangus, Moxi Crimefighter ….

Its as if celebs think they should open the dictionary and run a finger down the center of the page with closed eyes to see what happens…

  10. geronimo says:

    MSat:
Carlin – from the Gaelic, meaning – Little Champion.

Don’t know if everyone gets the same ads but there is a ringtone ad for Dolly with her picture next to the picture of Rebecca and Jerry…it looks like Rebecca and Dolly are mother and daughter. Exact same open mouth expression.

  12. Mairead says:

geronimo – did you get that off zelo.com? It sounds a bit made up to be honest. I checked some other irish names (specifically translations) and the explanations are way off.

Don’t get me wrong – I quite like Carlin as a christian name – I just prefer George. 😉 I think Carlin would make a fantastic middle name though. 😀

Back on topic – isn’t Dolly a nickname for Dorothy? I always think it’s best to give the child the proper name and then call them by the nickname you prefer.

  13. daisy424 says:

Rebecca is Dolly’s middle name, that’s a coincidence.

No, Mairead, not from there and not made up. The ‘lin’ is little or small, the ‘carr’ strength/rock (carrick). So ‘Little Rock’ if you prefer. And yes, it may be a little contrived, but it’s still a valid(ish!) meaning. So there! 😀

    listen, ignore my last post – I’m in super-picky humour today. 😳 😳 😳

    You’re right daisy – that IS a coincidence! Dolly O’Connell – sounds cute 😀

  16. Celebitchy says:

I really like the name “Carlin,” MSat. It sounds like a real name but it’s not overused or too strange that it’s stigmatizing. My son’s name is “Miles” Don’t know what I’d pick if I had another one. I keep getting wistful looking at little babies, but I don’t know if I can do it again!

  17. Mairead says:

Ok – geronimo. I’ll see your shared-database babyname sites and raise you McBain’s etymological dictionary of (Scots) Gaeilc. Old Scots Gaelic for champion was Cur. But the Welsh is Cawr and Cornish is Caur. So I’ll concede that it’s a name with a Celtic root.

ooooh I love the name Miles. Ok – if you ever visit Ireland you may not want to call him “Miley” around anyone over 15 unless you want to raise a chuckle or hear a catch-phrase (not because of Miley Cyrus, but it was a character in a popular Irish soap)

    Well holy God 😆 😆 😆

Sadly, all I can think of when I see that pic, is singing cockroaches.

    Welcome to Joe’s apartment!

  19. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

I want another cat so I can name her Dolly after Dolly Parton, because I love her, but I wouldn’t name a daughter Dolly. Who would ever take her seriously? There’s only one Dolly Parton!

  20. CinPin says:

I know two girls named Carlin–it’s cute, but a girl’s name to me.

“And I’m sorry, but Dolly O’Connell sounds like someone who sits at the back of the church knitting and guzzling boiled sweets.”–Couldn’t have said it better myself!!

  21. Orangejulius says:

Another terrible celeb kid name. Are they so removed from reality that they think everything they do is wonderful, including the shitty names they give their kids?

The skirt Dolly is wearing in that picture would be gorgeous if it were just a couple of inches longer.
