Matthew McConaughey has really impressed me with his family skills so far. Though he hasn’t gone the traditional route of engagement/marriage, he seems just as committed as anyone who had. And it’s clear he’s not only in love with his baby son Levi but with Levi’s mom Camila. This past weekend Matthew ran the Nike + Human Race in Austin, Texas (finishing the 10k run a minute less than his goal of 45 minutes), and told People that Camila is the love of his life.
“I always wanted to be a father and thought it would be great, but it just took the right woman and the right time to make it all happen,” he told PEOPLE as he unwound after running Sunday’s Nike + Human Race in Austin, Texas. “[Camila] is the love of my life,” he said after crossing the finish line in under 44 minutes (beating his goal of 45). “Everything is right. It’s all good.”
Post run, he and Alves – a model and handbag designer who gave birth to their son in early July – brought baby Levi to check out the Ben Harper concert. (Little McConaughey was wearing tiny jeans and – yes – a white tee shirt.)
“We’re a family now,” said the Surfer, Dude star. “I see the future and it’s clearer to me now. Walking around with this cool responsibility all the time, it’s a wonderful thing… We have a little bit more prep-time put into going places and doing things, getting him ready and everything,” he said while relaxing in the VIP area. “But it’s amazing.”

Matthew and Camila also took Levi to a John Mellencamp concert a few weeks ago. I’m not expert, but that makes me worry about the baby’s hearing loss. But at least the kid’s developing a taste for good music. And I’m sure the VIP area is some sort of sound proofed booth. Or it would need to be for me to let my kid anywhere near it.
Despite some early engagement rumors, it doesn’t appear that the pair have made anything official. They seem exceptionally happy with where they are in their lives and their family right now
Here’s Matthew McConaughey training for the 10K on August 20, 2008. Images thanks to Fame.
Well, we’ll see if she’s still the love of his life in 10 years. I hope so, but I’m just so jaded by these hollywood relationships at this point.
That doesn’t even look like him in the header pic.
AWWW, how sweet and romantic.
Maybe marriage is not a good thing for them right now. They should just enjoy what they have now, if it’s meant to be, marriage will happen.
ok off topic but i can’t stand watching him run. he runs with his butt sticking out and i really bothers me for some reason. he just looks so… constipated.
oh well…
they make a beautiful family!
Kaiser, you’re right. It looks better than him!
@Syko – Right? The header pic guy looks like a hotter, Hispanic version of Matt.
Exactly!
Weird — I thought the header pic was Owen Wilson!
god, I hope so. That woman is absolutly stunning, kind and seems to adore him. He’d be fool to loose her.
I’m not saying that everyone should get married, but when (1) you help bring a child into the world and (2) you claim that the mother of your child is the love of your life, wouldn’t you want your child not to be raised in the sanctity and legal protection of marriage? without marriage, the woman has NONE of the legal rights that come with being half of a marital union. Then again, maybe I’m old-fashioned and Hollywood stars are just above all this.
I meant “to be raised in the sanctity and legal protection of marriage.” Excuse the typo!
Screw the engagement rumors. Can we please address Matthew’s little T. Rex arms? What causes that?!
That’s not Matthew McConaughey. I think the pap who snapped the pic followed the wrong dude. This guy’s face is fatter and I thought Matt’s upper arms had more muscles. It also doesn’t look like his hair.
