Anna Duggar is expecting another child this summer

annapregnant1
A lot of you may read that title and immediately think that the enormous Duggar family is expanding, and it is but it’s not what you might expect. Anna Duggar is the daughter-in-law of Michelle Duggar, who has had 19 kids and has made it clear that she’s still trying at 44 despite the fact that her last one was born prematurely and both she and the baby nearly died. Michelle hasn’t been successful yet at this point, but Anna, the 22 year-old wife of the Duggar’s oldest son Josh, 23, is expecting her second baby this summer. Anna and Josh first announced the pregnancy in November, and it seems this latest announcement is meant to promote the season 5 premiere of the Duggar family’s TLC reality show, 19 Kids and Counting, which airs tonight.

In a really stupid twist to this story meant to add some plot to their reality show, Anna and Josh let their doctor find out the sex of their baby and instructed him to keep it a secret and to tell Michelle about it. They told Michelle to let them know along with the rest of the family. As sweet as Michelle comes across on the show, this sounds like a political move meant to pacify her so she feels a sense of control when she’s not the one who is pregnant for once. She surely wishes she was. The last time Anna was pregnant, Michelle was pregnant too.

Three months from now, the super-sized Duggar family will add another … boy!

Josh Duggar, 23 – the eldest son of Jim Bob and Michelle – and his wife Anna, 22, are expecting their second child on June 19 to join older sister Mackynzie, 17 months.

The couple chose an unconventional method for learning the gender of the child – they had Michelle tell them.

“We went to the ultrasound and decided that my mom would know,” Josh tells PEOPLE. “We figured she could handle the secret and then have a surprise sharing of the information with the entire family, including me and Anna.”

They waited more than a week, and it wasn’t easy. “I think Anna was getting a little be anxious and excited to know, kind of antsy,” says Josh. Anna agrees: “We thought it was fun to have the whole family hear at the same time and have the excitement together, but it was hard to wait.”

Josh and Anna are now happily planning a home birth and thinking about boys’ names. Mackynzie had an unplanned home birth, but “it went so well,” says Anna, “that we are glad to be preparing for a home birth this time.”

All 19 children born to Michelle, 43 and Jim Bob, 44 – 10 boys and nine girls – have names beginning with a “J,” so the inevitable question is: Will Josh and Anna follow with an “M” tradition for their children?

“We still have a little time left to decide,” says Josh. “Anna and I will find a good name that will be perfect for this little boy.”

Meanwhile, Anna says her pregnancy is going well and she feels good.

[From People]

Maybe I’ll watch this show tonight and see how Michelle handles the big announcement. I’m sure it’s accompanied by a permagrin and Michelle’s sickeningly sweet voice. I have to admit that this family seems nice despite how strange the rest of us find their situation. From the few clips I’ve seen they come across as way too mellow and happy for a family with that many kids. Now they’re set to have tons of grandchildren and the Duggar genes will explode across the land like so many eerily calm homeschooled viruses.

Photos are of Anna pregnant with her first child. Credit: JA20.com. That domain name is probably for the fact that their daughter is the 20th Duggar.

  2. Mrs. Chris says:

A family of religious nutjobs who think they’re pleasing “god” by having tons of kids and completely wearing out their vaginas. Give me a break.

  3. HotPockets says:

These people are insanely selfish to have so many children. There isn’t enough resources on this planet to sustain the population we have now, so why does a single person have to have 19 kids? and now their 19 kids are going to have at least 5 kids each. Such a deadly cycle.

  4. S says:

based on the commercials, I think they use a sky plane to draw out the gender symbol.

  5. malachais says:

MSat, I was thinking the same thing. In my opinion, they are all popping Xanex before filming, including the children 😛

  6. Cha Cha Loca says:

I can hear that woman’s uterus screaming for mercy from here.

  7. Johnny Depp's Girl says:

If you watch the show, or have ever read anything about them, then you would know that they recycle, run their own businesses and buy used. They do not use any of the government’s money to live.

However, as gallant as that sounds, I do agree that 19 kids are a bit much when you have the older kids raising the younger ones cause you are too busy getting pregnant.

  8. EdithP says:

Anna looks a lot like the rest of the Duggars. Weird.

to be fair, after 46 kids, every time you cough one just falls out.

  10. Roxanne75 says:

I am so happy for them. It’s nice to have people happy and actually sincere. Wow, people criticize when others try to maintain a family oriented positive tradition and also in the same breath complain about all the nutjob families who have kids, divorce, have major problems, etc…which is it guys? There needs to be more nice people in the world..we are going backwards 🙁

  11. spinner says:

    Creepy.

My daughter loves the Duggars. If left to her own devices she would have kept popping out babies forever. Luckily, after baby #4, her husband ran out & got a vasectomy. My daughter was super pissed & of course…took it out on me.

  12. Hautie says:

Wow, this is probably the longest that Michelle has went, since the first few years of their marriage, of not being pregnant.

But I want to believe it is because she finally bought ole’ Jim Bob a box of Trojans.

  13. brin says:

    I’m exhausted just reading this.

  14. Jackson says:

I don’t care how nice they seem, or how nice they actually are, they still creep me out. Maybe it’s that whole barefoot and pregnant mindset…

  15. texasmom says:

I think it is creepy that the new wife is willing to give up her own right to be the first to know and let her mother-in-law know first.

  16. LindaR says:

    @arock. That was funny!

So it was difficult for them to wait a WHOLE week to find out the sex of the baby. I guess they couldn’t have handled it years ago when you waited 9 months and it was always a surprise. Idiots.

  17. texasmom says:

You know what I wish? That there was a Hassidic equivalent reality show. That is a whole COMMUNITY of people who have to buy buses to transport their kids. But I bet TLC (or the American public) wouldn’t like a non-white-bread Christian family in their lineup.

  18. TQB says:

@Hautie, in all seriousness, I suspect she isn’t really “trying” – that they’re saying so for the show and the “message” but in truth both she and her husband realize it isn’t safe anymore.

Or at least that’s what I want very badly to believe.

  19. Annaloo says:

    gross

  20. lucy2 says:

Do you think when this baby is born they’ll say “2 down, only 17 more to go!”
I’d be curious to know how many people involved in their religion really WANT so many kids, or if they do it simply because they believe they’re supposed to.

  21. YAY says:

Green Tax the Duggars! If they want 19 kids or more, they should pay for the clean up.

  22. Praise St. Angie! says:

The fact that his name is ACTUALLY Jim Bob never fails to crack me up.

  23. Scarlet Vixen says:

#1) Josh and Anna look like brother and sister. Creepy.

#2) Anna has such a ‘deer in the headlights’ look in evey picture I see of her. It’s like she’s trying to tell us “Get me the f*ck away from these crazies” with her eyes.

  24. Stephanie says:

I am the oldest of 8 kids, 2 boys and 6 girls. My mom totally had the Michelle Duggar mentality until biology FINALLY stopped her at age 46. It is definitely a sickness and my mom absolutely has control issues like what Michelle seems to have. I, for one, am 31 with no children. None of my siblings want big families from what I can tell. It is VERY taxing on the older children, speaking from experience.

  25. tapioca says:

“They do not use any of the government’s money to live.”

I’m pretty sure because JimBob Duggar served briefly as some kind of politician, he and his kids get free healthcare, which IS taxpayers money. Unless I imagined that, in which case ignore this comment!

Oh, and are that couple brother and sister or what?!!

  26. Days after Christmas says:

I’ve tried to be Zen about this but enough! The planet is already wiping out thousands of us in one fell swoop (Haiti, Japan, etc…) yet people are still ignorant enough to think more people is a good idea.

It’s great that they recycle and buy used, but it’s beyond selfish to keep adding to the gigantic family they already have. File this under greed.

  27. Amy says:

Meh, if they have the money to support the kids, what’s the harm? They have a kickass house and seem really happy.

And as far as the kids’ behavior goes, I have Catholic relatives with tons of kids and they are all well behaved. Why? Because the older kids help out with the younger ones. It’s like a big team unit.

I’ll stick with my two kids, though, thanks!

  28. curmudgeon says:

WHat’s creepy is a willingness to die and leave twenty people without their wife and mother so you can keep popping out babies.

  29. lcat says:

I’m sure Michelle is trying to have another child because of the joy she gets from motherhood and the honor she gives God by doing so. It can’t have anything to do with the fame she’s getting from being the freak with 19 kids.

  30. Meanchick says:

I find it hard to believe they were not relying on some type of state assistance. Maybe not now because of the show, but I’m willing to bet they were the royal family of food stamps and cash assistance! Want to do God’s work? Live a good life and help others. Making the older kids care for the younger kids is just wrong. Where is their life?

    • Gail says:

Jim Bob buys and rents commericial real estate, they buy used, the children are home schooled, they don’t have cable TV, they don’t rent movies or video games, they don’t have credit cards, they don’t have a mortgage, they don’t need food stamps or government assistance, plus when you give lots of money to church and charity, you get lots of money back at tax time.

  31. KCT says:

They don’t bother anyone. They don’t raise their kids with government money. They are upstanding people who are dedicated to their beliefs. It shouldn’t matter to anyone how many kids they have as long as they manage the situation themselves and are willing to assume the risk that every pregnancy brings. It looks like they’ve done a pretty good job so far. They are a sweet and inspirational family. We could all learn from living so peacefully.

  32. courtney says:

um two of Michelle’s pregnancies produced twins and one of the 18 ended in a miscarriage because she was taking birth control and didn’t stop before she tried to conceive. this would only be Anna’s 3rd pregnancy she also miscarried once and at 23 has plenty of time to still have childdren in the future.

  33. Tiffany says:

I hope that Anna says to her family and in laws, ‘ You know, 4 kids are enough and I am not going to become a walking baby machine.’ That would be a great episode. Also if she told her husband he would never touch her again if he wants to keep it up. Man, I got all kinds of ideas for drama on that show.

  34. Anastasia says:

Well, of course she’s calm and serene. All those older girls raise the younger kids! A lot of her older girls are of marrying age in their religion/culture, and yet, aren’t even being matched up with anyone (the marriages are all arranged, as was this oldest boy’s marriage). Why not? Well, who would raise the babies, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged kids? Surely not Michelle, there’s too many of them.

    Yuck.

  35. L says:

@tapioca Jim Bob was a US Senator from his state for one term. They have health insurance that is subsidized by the state for life. So yea, they totally take gov’t funding.

Not to mention the fact that 1) they shill themselves out to TV, books, etc to make money and basically pimp out their kids. 2)Always ask for donations on their website. Not living off of other’s my ass.

  36. flourpot says:

    Poor, brainwashed thing.

  37. DGO says:

I have no objection to large families, but I do have a problem with their reasoning for why they’re having lots of kids. Michelle said since the pill could have played a part in her losing a child, she would never use it again. Fine. But having lots of babies back-to-back could also play a part, God forbid, in her losing a child one day. If she really wants to do things the “natural” way, she needs to exclusively nurse for six months, and only introduce solids sparingly after that, while continuing to nurse for three years. (Not advocating this, just saying this is the “natural” way). So yeah, I don’t see why they don’t just buy a box of condoms, or use the Billings method, or completely abstain from sex, since it could result in her losing a child. *steps off of soapbox*

  38. John Wayne Lives says:

    @ Anastasia, Exactly!

  39. tomas says:

#2 – Religious nut-jobs….boy, did you hit the nail on the head with that one!

  40. Dingles says:

The thought of any of these people having sex makes me throw up in my mouth a little. I’m thinking missionary position only with the lights out, and never for more than 5 minutes.

  41. junk573r says:

@ Dingles. I can’t even imagine sex is even enjoyable anymore. Talk about hotdog down a hallway.

  42. teehee says:

Seeing their family pictures brings me an odd sense of envy, failure, relief and gratitude. I grew up with a similarly thorough religious upbringing– at least it was the makings of that. Had it been successful, however, I would be walking around in those ankle length denim skirts with add ratty hair down to my waist as well. Seeing them with a new home and settled and with such a simple and easy purpose- all smiles all the time, as though life were alwyas that good and simple– brings me envy. I am glad, though, I that I was too smart for any religion and do my own thinking and am liberated. Yet it also leaves one a bit lost. Maybe life could have been or be that simple… far from what it is now. Hmmm. Strange.

  43. TQB says:

@Meanchick, no, they really aren’t on foodstamps. Heck, they’re rollin’ in dough! They have no debt, but as noted they get health insurance for life as a result of Jim Bob(ha)’s former office.

  44. Dolly Llama says:

    GROOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

  45. xxodettexx says:

aarrgghh… i am torn.. on the one hand i get all the comments about how this is weird and selfish [to their kids, environment, taxpayers…] but i also believe that they seem mostly harmless

eh, what do i know? havent watched one episode nor do i plan on it… just love to come and read the comments, haha

  46. Sparkly says:

Actually, Michelle does nurse all of her babies. She had to quit nursing Josie because some kind of lactose intolerance was keeping her sick. Apparently she is able to conceive even while nursing. I do think that they’re bit zealous with childbearing, but they do a good job parenting so I personally have no problems with them, even if I don’t share all their views. I would love a large family if I could support it.

I like Anna Duggar, but Josh has always seemed to play to the camera/shows. He’s a bit toolish that way sometimes. I would guess that this telling Michelle thing first was his idea. He told Anna when she got her positive test and called to make sure the camera guys were there and everything. I think he gets too much of a kick out of being campy for the cameras.

  47. DGO says:

@ Sparkly – There are things you can do about lactose intolerance and breastfeeding. She might nurse her children, but she doesn’t do it for the recommended 3 years with a delay in solids and exclusivity for 6 months. I’ve heard her discuss how she does things, and I’m worried another pregnancy might result in her death or the death of a child. There’s no way it’s a good thing for those kids to grow up without a mother.

  48. DiannSteph says:

This family makes my blood boil. I guess they figure God wants them to keep procreating at vast numbers because the Earth’s resources will be there for them! We’re not overpopulated, noooo.

And the older ones take care of all the young ones. Jim Bob’s son is just following Jim Bob’s example. Jim Bob should’ve been SNIPPED long ago.

Quote: “Talk about hotdog down a hallway.”

    Too damn funny.

Cannot.stand.them due to their irresponsible beliefs.

Quote: “It shouldn’t matter to anyone how many kids they have as long as they manage the situation themselves and are willing to assume the risk that every pregnancy brings.”

Um, our planet is overpopulated, that’s cause for concern.

  49. TG says:

I bet Michelle is rushing to have another one. She can’t stand anyone else getting attention. She is a bad mother. If she and that idiot husband of hers were actually raising the kids they would have no energy or time to even have that much sex. And does she not breastfeed? That should work as a fairly decent birth control as well.

  50. KsGirl says:

Gah, this family and their choices always make me feel torn. Part of me really wants to say “omg, gross, sick, get snipped” etc., but the fact is, I was raised to respect a woman’s right to choose. To respect a family’s right to choose. This means respecting those who make choices that differ, very much so, from those that I, and most of us here, would make.

The Duggars and their children appear to be stable, productive members of their family and of society. Who am I to say it’s wrong to have older children help with raising the younger ones? Surely this is the way its been done for most of human history (that doesn’t make it right, per se, but it’s worth thinking on)? We have very specific ideas of childhood and how childhood should “be” for children. Who’s to say we’re right? The whole small, tight-knit nuclear family unit that most of us were raised in doesn’t always result in happy/content children.

Basically, I don’t think it’s anyone’s business what Michelle (or Anna, or any of them)Duggar does with her uterus, and I honestly think a lot fo the reaction here is of the knee-jerk variety. How would those of you who think this is sick and wrong react if the Duggars started accusing you of brainwashing your children, of being mentally ill etc., because of the choices you’ve made – because they (your choices) differ from theirs (the Duggars)?

I need to start a damn blog. Ha ha. Sorry this was so long.

  51. gg says:

I think bad hair must be a prerequisite to being in this family. At least trim the stuff.

  52. DiannSteph says:

Wow, am I the only person who thinks about the overpopulation problem we have in this country?

That’s why it’s irresponsible in this day and age to keep reproducing like you’re a damn machine, Duggars!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlcJoZyG2N4

  53. LittleMissSunshine says:

For those who believe the Duggars aren’t using any government money, I’m pretty sure their house has somehow been declared a church, so they don’t pay taxes, which is decidedly a use of government money. Not to mention the insane medical costs for a family of 21, for which the Arkansas government is footing the bill as another poster mentioned above. I have no judgment on these things, but it is inaccurate to say they don’t rely on government money. They couldn’t exist without government money.

  54. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

    @texasmom
I live in a neighborhood like that now…I noticed the families were sooo large here!! I also noticed that the people with the huge vans are the ones that almost run me over when I’m running haha.
    @KsGirl
    Generally I agree.

I also don’t find it THAT big of a deal that they have lots of children because of religious beliefs. Why? They actually love their children. Compare the Duggars to someone like OctoMom and it’s a HUGE difference! The Duggars can support their family…you can tell the children are being raised in an environment where they should become good citizens. Octomom shouldn’t have the children she has!

I have no problem with the health insurance thing- my dad’s job gave me and my family free health care..soo whatever.

I do feel bad when people criticize their religion We live in America! Free to practice your religion and whatnot! The case can be made that all religions are crazy and messed up, so I feel we should give them a break about religion.

  55. TQB says:

Slightly OT but this keeps getting repeated – Breast feeding DOES NOT work as birth control! Just ask my mom about my “irish twin” sister, born 12 months after me.

  56. Newbie says:

I truly think that the world and nature have some order/selection to them. For all their children, there are women in the world who can’t have babies. There are as many people dying every day as there are people being born. I’m not too worried about the planet. I do what I can, then I let the issue go. Honestly, I think these guys are all crazy. They seem to have mental issues and/or problems that cause them to think they NEED to be pregnant to be good people. That’s insane. But I also don’t think it’s ok for anyone to dictate the amount of children they have. Granted, if the government or the public is paying for their family, or if the psychological upheaval on the other children is too great, then I’d call them selfish and stupid. If not, then they are perfectly within their rights to pursue happiness here in America. I’m leaning towards crazy, mooching catastrophe tho…

  57. Jennifer says:

I don’t even want to know 19 people, let alone give birth to them.

  58. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

I don’t know. Our bodies, our lives, our convictions, our business, right? But when the future of a nation is placed upon your womb–to the point where your body falls into disrepair and all of the attendant health risks of that lifestyle have been discarded for both mother and baby, it’s hard not to think ‘means to an end’. I’m not saying that these people don’t love their children, but at least on Teen Mom the kids actually got to have sex first. Sigh, I guess the only double bangs in their understanding are the ones aided by a vat of Final Net and a gas mask. Not that there’s necessarily going to a ‘what happens in rumspringa…’ scenario, but it’s kind of awkwark being recruited without consent by Jim Crimper and Bobo in their neverending War on Reason. Part of me wonders what it is that makes their DNA so damn special that they have have to obliterate the notion of maiden names one epidural at a time. Whatever. I don’t know it’s choice or if it’s complicity. And a fine ‘*shrug,* and *feh*’ to you.

  59. arock says:

now that ive had time to reflect, i cant believe shes having sex more than me…

  60. chasingadalia says:

    Dear God,

If you take away Michelle’s fertility asap, I’ll volunteer my uterus for an extra few years of menstrual cycles.

Think it over, get back to me.

  61. Johanna says:

    @ Dingles
I know, right?! I was thinking the exact same thing or better yet I was trying NOT to think about it! Just picturing any of these individuals naked is quite disgusting.

  62. MrsOdie2 says:

@ Courtney: “one of the 18 ended in a miscarriage because she was taking birth control and didn’t stop before she tried to conceive.”

Is that a fact? I thought that they BELIEVED that God took that baby as a punishment for her using birth control and that’s when they decided to go the “quiverful” route. Most miscarriages are caused because something is genetically wrong with the fetus, and doctors rarely know the cause.

I think they can do what they want. However, I cannot help but wonder if Michelle and Jim Bob (I too chuckle over his name) would use IVF or other fertility treatments. If so, I think that it’s hypocritical. They claim God is their birth control, so is he also their fertility doctor? If so, I think God probably will have them hang it up, because few women conceive naturally at 44. Notice I said few, not none.

  63. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@sparkly, “She had to quit nursing Josie because some kind of lactose intolerance ”

it’s actually called a “milk allergy” in nursing infants. My son had it and I nursed him successfully for 20 months. It required a lot of extra work on my part (I couldn’t eat any milk products, including casseates). The allergy actually caused intestinal bleeding. However, when I removed dairy from my diet he was fine and able to continue nursing. Milk allergies differ from lactose intolerance; in that, most children outgrow milk allergies by a year of age. So Michelle could have continued nursing.

@DGO, ” There are things you can do about lactose intolerance and breastfeeding.”

You are absolutely correct. See my above comment.

  64. Dea says:

Children are a beautiful present to any couple that wants them but 19 children are way too much. Michelle has been just lucky that nothing happened to her until now. I hope her daughter does not follow mom’s footsteps.

  65. Marianne says:

You know I don’t support their beliefs, but at least their children are well cared for.

@MrsOdie2: No they don’t believe in fertility treatments. If God wants them to have a baby, God will give them one. That’s what they believe in.

  66. Pink Elephant says:

I don’t care about what they interpret their religion as instructing them to do. I simply care that the planet is already way, way overpopulated. Spare me the smarmy children are a gift dribble, because the world’s population isn’t getting any smaller under that line of thought, HOWEVER, we are most definitely using up all of our resources.

Take this family as an exaggerated lesson: if you want to do something vital for our species and the planet we live on, DON’T BREED. It’s selfish in this day/age, when most of us live well into adulthood. We don’t all have to spread ‘n pop for the sake of the species’ survival anymore. That part of biblical wisdom no longer applies.

  67. Grace says:

@GradStudentEatingHotPockets: I actually don’t see a huge difference between the Duggars and OctoMom. In fact, they seem a lot alike. Both seem addicted to having children. Both have more children than they can take care of (and before someone else points out that the Duggars can take care of their children, no they can’t. They had to put their children on a reality show just to make enough money to get out of the tiny house they had all those children crammed into. And they are unable to raise those children without the same revenue and without forcing the older children to raise the younger ones.) Both are exploiting their children in order to make money.

I see no difference, except that the Duggars are trying to use God to justify the exploitation of their children. So actually, in that regard Octomom is actually coming out ahead of the Duggars.

  68. benny says:

I really dislike people who turn having children into their careers. Ratings, money, all depend on their ability to keep popping out new kids. Having children should not be a money-making enterprise, but that’s what reality shows and people like the Duggars have turned it into. It’s so disgusting.

  69. eternalcanadian says:

I find it interesting Josh continues to be the only Duggar married and with kids. Isn’t it common in Quiverful colonies to marry and start procreating as young as you can?

  70. CB Rawks says:

    @Benny,
Yes, and they don’t see each child as an individual human being, but as another addition to an impressively huge collection. Like when my sister collected those plastic animals inside the Yowie chocolate eggs.

  71. DiannSteph says:

    Thank you, PINK!!
    100% fanned.

LOL at CB Rawks collecting analogy.

  72. mary jane says:

@jennifer lol my favorite post on this topic

  73. Kiska says:

    This show is still on?

  74. Micki says:

If the Duggar kids are as kids-friendly as their parents, there are about 400 grandchildren waiting for the signal…
Just imagine the nightmare of sending a wedding- or else invitation to all the relatives.Exhausting.

  75. Confuzzle says:

    Inbred freaks.

  76. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

    @Grace
I think the very, very first show they ever did was some TLC special that was like “16 kids and counting” or something. I’m not sure…it seems like a long time ago.

Anyways, in that special it shows the family building their new house (the huge house that is in the tv show). They said it had taken them 3 years so far to build the house because they didn’t take out loans…they didn’t go beyond budget. They don’t believe in going in debt. And they were actually building the house.

Yeah, they make money now…but they still shop at second hand stores, they still buy their food in bulk, etc. They basically do the same exact same things they did before they actually landed a reality show (instead of the 3 or so specials they did). They sure didn’t take the Kate and Jon Gosselin route of TLC fame.

There are tons of stuff I disagree with them, especially when it actually comes to their religion. But then again, I’m not going to bash them for it.

Octomom does not take care of her children, her house is always in foreclosure, and she can’t support them without making crazy weird fetish videos (Even then she doesn’t have enough money to support them). The Duggars can keep a roof over their head and food on the table and it seems like those children are better off than OctoMom’s children.

But what difference is it having 19 versus only one or two kids? Isnt everyone who procreates adding to the destruction of the planet? … How many posters here have kids of their own…

  78. MourningTheDeathofMusic says:

    They just need to stop!

  79. Micki says:

@teehee: There are thousands of babies in the third world countries who never get even 10 years old. The african ones that got AIDS from their moms don’t reach even 5. So overall they don’t get much chance of ruining the planet.

I think it’s first up to us adults to do our best in saving the world and then worry what our kids will do with it. With a proper upbringing I wouldn’t worry too much. Personally I expect my second and don’t plan to have third.

  80. Grace says:

GradStudentEatingHotPockets: TLC finished building their current house for them. Otherwise, they would have still been crammed into that small house for who knows how many more years.

Also, yes I know Octomom doesn’t take care of her kids. Just like JimBob and Michelle don’t take care of theirs. The older four girls are raising the children, doing the cooking, the cleaning, etc.

  81. Pink Elephant says:

    @ teehee

Please consider the future. If those 2, or 19 kids each have 2 (or 19) kids, and those kids each have 2 (or 19) kids, where does that leave a planet which is already unhealthy looking and starving for air/resources in say, 25 years time?

If you have kids, stop. Just STOP, stop it right there. My compassion no longer extends to you as an individual, because frankly, the planet and the species are far more important than anyone’s selfish desire to breed at this point. We -humans- are the worst kind of planetary ant in terms of ability to spawn en mass and simply eat/use everything in sight. STOP.

  82. Sarah says:

Elephant, with the 50 million plus abortions i think they have a way to go to make a dent in the “over population” problem. If you believe in over population thats great do your part, there are others, like the Duggars obvoiusly, who dont. What difference does it make to you?

The posters on here who spout hateful stuff about the Duggars are nothing short of bullies. I am sure you also feel right in telling Catholics, Mormons and Islamists that they are contributing to over population of the world and they need to stop too. Its their lives, they live in a free country and can do as they please, spend their money how they please, run for public office and take the perks like every body else (preferential health care, free plane rides, trips, etc)they can believe in whatever religion they like and have 25 kids each if they please. If none of you like, turn the channel, stop reading about them and get on with your lives. hating them and their lives does nothing.

  83. Hakura says:

The Duggars have always irked me… They still selfishly & irresponsibly continue to take risks with the most important thing in life… the health of their children. As far as their continuing to have children when their older children will HAVE to raise them… That’s wrong.

@Jo ‘Mama’ Besser“I’m not saying that these people don’t love their children, but at least on Teen Mom the kids actually got to have sex first.

Exactly my feelings. The parents are responsible for raising the children they have, & if they can’t… they shouldn’t be having more. The children should be able to decide how many children they want to have, how many to raise… when they become adults. But in this case, the decisions are being made for them, without them even getting the benefit of it being THEIR child.

But the sad thing is that it sounds like Michelle… after all these years of having stair-step pregnancies… really feels like that’s all she’s good for. It’s also the attention that pregnant women get… She’s lived her ENTIRE LIFE getting that attention. It’s likely really depressing for her not to be getting that now.

It’s… really weird to have the doctor tell only his mother, & tell the entire family all at once, instead of the ACTUAL PARENTS getting to know what gender THEIR CHILD is. That’s the sort of news that should be special, for them to share with eachother first. Didn’t really sound like Anna was all that onboard with the idea, to begin with. Probably the son feeling bad for his mom, or playing to the drama for the show.

@Anastasia“(the marriages are all arranged, as was this oldest boy’s marriage).
His marriage was arranged? Admittedly, I haven’t kept up too well with this family, but I wasn’t aware of this. That just gives everything a whole new spin… & makes me feel even worse for Anna. (She DOES look like a deer in the headlights in all her pictures.)

  84. Karen says:

They do NOT get free healthcare. I know this for sure. Their home is a church so they pay no property taxes. They do NOT recycle. At least, not diapers. They NO LONGER buy used. This is evident in their clothing. (IE: Mackynzie wearing a brand new dress and skechers in their latest family pic on J&A’s website) However, I do believe the new stuff may be gifts from fans and family. This is the longest time Michelle has gone without having another child. Jennifer and Johannah are the second furthest apart with 22 months between them. Little Mack and her brother will have 18 months or so, I believe. Kelly Bates just lost baby #19. kelly has messed with God’s plan though, and has had progesterone treatments to sustain the life of her fetuses, all of which have failed, except for her little boy, Judson. They will also try for more. Michelle and JimBob may have realized that the womb has closed for Michelle. Not sure though. We know they are trying like crazy though, since Michelle pees on a stick everytime she turns around. I see Anna having many children, as she responded when Michelle asked her how many children they want, Anna said, “As many as possible.” To which josh replied, “As many as God will give us. If thats just 2 or 3, we’ll be happy.” So, who knows with these people. There are SO many inconsistencies with this religion. The “leader” of this cult, Bill Gothard, who preaches “Live fruitful and multiply” is an unmarried man with no children. Hypocritical indeed. It’s hard to watch this show, but like a trainwreck in action, you just cant look away.

  85. Dianne Bauer says:

I can never figure out why the Duggars who claim to have their house on 20 acres of land don’t have a garden!!
Wouldn’t this help feed all these kid’s.

  86. Casey Leigh says:

the US isnt even reproducing at replacement (more die yearly than are born)

No one has any right to tell her how many kids to have, I always think its so funny when people claim to be so open minded but then go off on how many kids she shold have. We have 6 and would love more . This family seems very nice and respectful. They also did have a garden with a friend that they were growing some food in

  87. Lauri says:

Most of the comments on here are sick. I wonder how many of you watch Kate plus 8! That is a horrible show. She is making money off of her kids.
It seems we only put down the good moral families. Are you attacking them because they aren’t divorced? Or is it because their kids are well-behaved?

And about the breastfeeding. My daughter just had a baby boy 4 months ago. She really wanted to nurse him for a long time. He had reflux problems real bad. She ended up putting him on an expensive formula. I was disappointed. Then I read something about a condition she has that really does affect your milk supply and can hurt a baby that is lactose intolerant.
Please mind your own business. Some of us do allow God to control our family size and every other aspect of out lives, including home schooling.
We don’t judge you about our lifestyle. We pray for you. Thanks.

Y’all wanna hate on a 20 something or 40 something year old woman but it’s ok for a 15 year old child to start having kids!!!! What the hell is wrong with this world?? Get a life and stop hating on grow ass adults and start paying attention to ur 15 year old kids!!!!

Anna Duggar is a idiot, she brags about her effort to not leave a carbon footprint by using cloth diapers, yet she leaves a carbon skid mark driving a Hummer.. geeeez
