Selma Blair just gave birth five weeks ago – her son Arthur Saint was born on July 25. These are photos from Venice from Monday, September 5. That’s less than six weeks that have passed from the day Selma pushed out a big overdue baby (her first) and wearing designer clothes on the Venice Film Festival red carpet. Tell me mothers: Selma got her figure back really quickly, correct? Yes, she has a tiny little tell-tale tummy, and her boobs look bigger, but she’s basically down to her old weight. If anything, she should consider keeping on these ten to fifteen pounds of baby weight, because she looks even better than before. She looks amazing.
This appearance in Venice is Selma’s first since giving birth. She’s promoting her work in Todd Solondz’s new film, Dark Horse. For the photo call, Selma wore this lovely green Roland Mouret (the Wemmick) dress from the Fall 2011 collection.
For last night’s premiere, Selma wore this odd orange-red Lanvin muumuu, which makes her look like she’s still pregnant. The color is pretty on her, but with Selma’s coloring, I would keep her in greens, blues and purples most of the time. She’s got Elizabeth Taylor coloring! She also has Liz’s penchant for muumuus, unfortunately. So… hate the Lanvin, love the Mouret.

I like what that green/bluish dress does for her complexion, and I agree that her body looks fantastic. But I wouldn’t have put on such a tight dress 6 weeks after giving birth. Sure, she sure as hell doesn’t have to be ashamed of that tiny little tummy, but it would have been more flattering to wear something that’s less tight around the waist.
I like that she didn’t wait to be “perfect” again. She looks fantastic though.
She looks lovely in both outfits. But I think the dress that makes her look pregnant is the green one…like, that little three months pregnant belly.
I feel sorry for her she always will be second best.
So jealous that she looks that good only 6 weeks after giving birth. I am still fighting off the extra 10 lbs I wasn’t able to lose 4 years ago after giving birth…lol.
She is very beautiful and I don’t see why anyone would feel sorry for her, she travels the world promoting her movies, she gets good money, she dresses designer clothes and she is in a happy relationship and a mother now. I’d say she has a pretty good life.
She looks fab!
Ok, I hate her. My son is almost 4 months old & I have 50lbs to lose.
Of course, I don’t have a personal trainer, a personal chef, or a nanny to watch my son while I work out for 2+ hours a day, so maybe thats the difference… 😛
Wow! Great to see Selma out and about, period. Love her.
The sleeves on the dress are fug and she looks like she’s getting as much sleep as a new mom. It wears you out.
Love the green dress, very flattering. I am so glad there is a celebrity out there who doesn’t mind showing her post baby belly on the red carpet. I don’t get women hiding out until they lose it all. Can’t be healthy.
She looks great!
I would have gone up a size on the green dress. Not to hide her body, because for 6 weeks after a baby it’s pretty amazing. I like the dress… but I don’t think it’s the most flattering. It makes her look relatively wide from her boobs to her belly. The random bunches of material just don’t act in a slimming way.
I like the color of the orange dress…but it looks kind of like a costume. I don’t know… the dresses are on the opposite ends of the spectrum for fit… I don’t think that it is flattering whatsoever.
I agree, she looks better with that little extra bit of weight, IMHO…kinda makes her face not as harsh. And I am not knocking the very little belly that she does have, but I would suggest a dress that doesn’t pull across the hips. One size up in that dress would be more flattering and actually make her look smaller.
This is the best she has EVER looked. I thought she was ugly before. Her face looks totally different now.
She looks like Joanne Worley.
It was quick but not shockingly so. I think there’s a pretty wide range of “normal”, from those gals who leave the hospital in their skinny jeans to those who take a year or more to bounce back.
It really depends on how much actually body fat is gained during gestation, and different amounts are healthy depending on the mom.
I regulary see moms with 6-8 week olds who have only a tiny tummy (like this).
She looks great, That little bit of extra weight suits her.
I think she looks marvelous. I love Selma!
all women are different and lose weight after birth differently. My cousin (without trying) was back into her size 6 clothes (that’s a 2 in American) 3 weeks after giving birth with each of her three children. she had big boobs (from the milk) and a tiny waist and flat stomach. but she idnt do anything to make it happen
I must be in the minority, because I like the red/orange dress on HER. She does have nice coloring.
The orange dress reminds me of the one Beyonce wore to announce her pregnancy.
I love the green on her. She looks great. I still have 10 lbs to lose and this second pregnancy has really tore me up. My son was 9 lbs 6 ounces and I really wasn’t expecting that. Or the csection that seems like it’s gonna leave me with a flap of fat.
@ shoelover
My sister was like that. She was only 120 pounds fully term 5 days later she was back to 110 pound pre preg weight. All the mums at baby group hated her and wouldn’t talk to her.
Selma’s going to be 90 and still playing 25 year olds in movies! She never ages.
She looks great even if she hadn’t just given birth! I am healthy and not overweight and I just naturally have a little tummy. Prefer a little extra flesh than gristle and bone and starvation.
She looks fantastic!
@ Bohdi: We’ll start a support group. I’m 3 months, 5 days out, and I am just really starting to see any loss after the initial water weight fell off. I’m breastfeeding like a mad woman, but it’s still SOOO SLOOOWWWW…
