Legal contract or not, cheating in what is supposed to be a monagamous relationahsip is tantamount to betrayal. Theory is that any accretion of morally questionable behavior, especially if the aforementioned behavior causes harm will often result in the collection of negative karma. Moreover, karma (and dharma) can and does collect not only as a result of your actions, but your thoughts as well. (Might as as well add actions done TO you, too.)
I don’t see the universe proffering up the brownie points for lying by omission and stabbing your loved ones behind the back.
